WelcomeI am BitsyBoy555. I live with my owner hobbittsy who is so very kind to me. (She made me say that ... but it's ok because it's true.) I started life as a green scorchio, and was made Maraquan by the Fountain Faerie. I took third place in the Beauty Contest on July 14, 2006 - that's my BC picture at the top of the page. It's not exactly a Rembrandt, but I think it captures my cheerful nature. * holds up mirror * Unfortunately, Boochi zapped me with his ray gun in February 2008 and I turned into a snivelling little Baby Scorchio. Hobbittsy and I hated that and so I went to visit the secret laboratory for experimental treatments for a while. I was a Desert Scorchio and then turned into this striking Shadow color which I've decided to keep for now. I am Hobbitty's first pet, and I'm training for the battledome. I've gotten to be pretty good and have beaten all the Defenders of Neopia challengers, as well as many of the plot challengers. I am a Premium member and I like it. My favorite three things are the Super Shop Wizard, seeing no ads on my Neopets pages, and the weekly Space Faerie Scratchcards. (I won a scratch card jackpot which really helped my savings a lot!) Quests and other Help topicsYes, we've had several Fountain Faerie quests. Some of my lovely brothers and sisters are spiffy looking, too, thanks to the Fountain Faerie. (Although some of them got their paint jobs from playing in the secret laboratory.) We've also had visits from all the other uber faeries. As far as we can tell, it IS totally random - play a lot of Neopets and you'll get plenty of quests. (Try doing things that refresh the screen a lot like Pyramids or NeoQuest.) Hobbittsy spends a lot (yes, really a lot) of time helping on the Message boards (the QB and the HC, and sometimes the Premium boards and others). Perhaps you've run into her there. We're sorry but we can't respond to Neomails asking for help. If hobbittsy is logged into Neopets, odds are that she'll stop by the Boards and answer questions. You'll get a much faster response by posting there and getting help from someone who's around. There are a lot of very dedicated and helpful players on Neopets, and they have put a lot of time and energy into creating useful reference information. She suggests that everyone who enjoys Neopets find different ways to express it. Some ideas she has used:
Borrowing the Bony Grarrl Club
She will accept either ETS (easy-to-sell) items or pure NPs. If you want to use pure NPs, it requires an auction and you'll need to be accepting Neofriends requests. We don't care about "recommendations" or the age of your account, or whatever. Just give full collateral. Please make sure to list the collateral you want to use, and spell it out. We dislike playing guessing games to figure out what a bunch of alphabet soup is supposed to mean. Before Hobbittsy agrees to any loan, you'll need to get a grarrl and feed it to bloated so it doesn't eat things out of your inventory. Yes, they WILL do that - and they'll eat ANYTHING including rocks, toys, and weapons. You could also put it into the Neolodge which will keep it fed - if you're keeping it around, we highly recommend this. We also recommend putting 40 or so pieces of junk into your inventory to protect against Pant Devil, Grundo Leader, or similar events. Some people like to include a few Pant Devil Attractors in the mix. I'm not completely convinced that they work, but they don't hurt. To get the avatar, just equip the club to your grarrl. You should get it right away. Then remove the club, set up the return trade or auction, and neomail Hobbittsy to let her know you're ready. If Hobbittsy is ignoring your Neomails, it's probably because you're not following the rules listed. Or because you're using chatspeak, or bad grammar and spelling, and she can't understand you. Or more likely, because she's busy with real life. Remember - YOU are asking US for a favor so we get to be capricious. Oh, and lending is completely free! We do not ask for tips, gifts, or favors in any way. If you want to do something, please be kind to someone else! This, Too, Will PassHobbittsy used the tagline, "This, too, will pass" for a long while, and several people have wondered where it comes from or what it means. It is a line from several folk stories, and also appears in many poems and song lyrics. One story is a Zen teaching story or koan, one is an old story that Abraham Lincoln and Pete Seeger both told, one is a Sufi story, and another is a Jewish teaching story which I'll tell you: King Solomon thought he would have some fun, and asked one of his advisors to find him a magic ring he'd heard of. But he found no trace of such a ring. The morning before the ring was due to the king, the advisor was walking through the market in the poor quarter of the city. He saw an old man unrolling a worn carpet and beginning to lay out his sparse display of jewelry and trinkets to sell. In desparation, he asked, "I don't suppose you've got a magic ring? About HobbittsyWhat, you want to know more about Hobbittsy? OK, here's what she has to say: I'm an adult. I have one son who is now in college. I spent many years as programmer and project manager for a big company, and now I'm thinking about doing something else but I don't have a definite position yet and am currently unemployed. Hobbies? I like to read, sew and quilt, dance (especially contra dancing), swim, walk in the woods, ... I belonged to a cooperative farm (CSA) for about 10 years, and I enjoyed working there and occasionally in my flower garden. I love vegetables and healthy organic, wholegrain foods but I have an unfortunate weakness for chocolate and other sweets. Other than Neopets, one of my biggest hobbies is reading. I had a goal to read things by authors from every country in the world, using the list of countries for the 2008 Summer Olympics (205 of them). It took me almost 2 1/2 years to finish but I did. I love learning about other countries. I spent a year living in England and going to school there when I was 9 years old. Later in my youth, we had a foreign student from Brazil live with us for 6 months, as well as several 2-week college guests from Iran and China. As an adult, I had a 17-year old high school student from China live with me. He loved cars and rap music. Then I hosted a teacher from Barcelona, Spain for a month. Now I am considering moving to live overseas (probably Asia but I haven't decided on countries to apply to, yet). I like real pets, too, and have had dogs, cats, fish, a snake, and a hedgehog. Right now, I've got 2 cats. I'm quite short and a bit plump, so I always thought I resembled a hobbit. Can I Be Your Neofriend?Hobbittsy sometimes gets this question when she's been helping on the boards. It's certainly flattering to be asked, but we don't really understand the point of asking a stranger to "be my friend". Just because we were helpful to you doesn't mean we'll remember your name 10 minutes from now. We do understand, though, that Neopia is a big place and it can help it to seem friendlier if you have some contacts saved in your friend list. If you really want to do that, make a neofriend request to Hobbittsy's side account, Patchsie. She doesn't mind if you neomail her (ONCE!) and let her know that you've sent a request there. That will remind her to login and accept your request. Just because you're on one of our Neofriend lists, we will NOT give you items, or treat you any differently. We each need to earn our own NPs - it's part of the game. Begging is against the rules, and asking for gifts counts as begging. Need more info? Check these: Atablicryon and Editorial on begging. And before you ask, NO, we won't accept your neofriend request on the Hobbittsy account unless we know you well. for the avatar?
She used to lend it as part of the AIL (Avatar Item Lenders). She stopped because it took up
a lot of her Neopets time but if you really need it and can't find another lender, neomail her and see if she'll
lend - she might.
The collateral as of this writing is 50 Million NPs, but she'll check the current prices if you're requesting to borrow.
During the time she's owned the club, prices have ranged between 14Million and 75Million. She paid somewhere in the middle of those.
As I mentioned earlier, I am the Battle Pet of the family. (flexes muscles)
I am working hard to train so that I can be ready if there's another plot with battling. I use 7 codestones now
each time I go for another course,
so we're sure happy to see codestones given out from Key Quest!
I like to read, too. Since Hobbittsy reads so much, it's something we can have in
common. I'm not anywhere close to getting the book award - it's just for fun.
The Helpful Zafara is Hobbittsy's favorite avatar, and the one you'll most often see her wearing.
She does swap around now and then for holidays or for a change. When she's just gotten a new
