Story:
She sat at the kitchen table biting at one of her nails as she read the newspaper. It was flu season again, so it claimed. When wasn't someone catching a cold here? The only time snow did not cover the ground was in the middle of summer. Harold was already sipping on his morning coffee. He looked worriedly at her, knowing exactly what was going through her mind.
Tasha, you shouldn't worry about Trate or myself. Getting sick is a part of life honey. he spoke in his calm tone. Stroking his wife's face, trying to keep her worry away from the season outside. Just like magic their child came running down from his room.
It's SNOWING! He exclaimed looking out the window in earnest. Trate! Don't you DARE open that door until you get your snow gear on. Tasha snapped turning her head to see the eight year old already at the door. Let go of the door knob and come eat your breakfast. she commanded. Harold shook his head and walked up to his son. Gently taking his wrist he lead the boy into the kitchen. Harry knew he should consult his wife more. Trate was a growing boy, he needed to make mistakes to learn. He needed to get sick to get better. But he found it so difficult with her constant worry, he hated the look on her face. It made her look so helpless, and it was just so easy to just go along with it and keep her calm.
Trate sighed in defeat, and climbed up to the table. Cereal again for breakfast, mother had been far too worried with the news again to cook anything. Mama, tomorrow, can I have pancakes?
We'll see She simply answered grabbing her own coffee mug now.
I'm heading on to work. Harold exclaimed, talking really to no one in particular. He gave Trate a quick hug and kissed Tasha on the cheek. You two behave. He stated looking at his wife before adding:
Please, behave.
He walked outside and in moments the car's engine roared and he drove off.
Tasha was chewing on her nails again. Trate watched her as he ate, he hated the sound of it. Yet it was just a bad habit she wouldn't stop. The boy was silent through his entire breakfast, despite the fact his mother was right in front of him the whole time. She wasn't any fun to speak at during this time. All she did was tell him how he or his father could get sick and die. It was depressing and he didn't want to hear it. Thus he tried to never start a conversation. Tasha took a look at the clock on her wall. Come on, it's time to get suited up, you'll be late to school. Take your vitamins too. She said, her voice was pretty flat and unemotional. It was just how she sounded in the morning.
Trate took his vitamins, they were bland, not with cool shapes like his friend's were. He had to take them every morning, even during summer.
Getting into his winter clothes was a hassle. He hated it so much, why couldn't he just wear a jacket with a few other things? But no, it was a shirt he had to tuck into his pants, a sweater, a large poofy jacket...Mittens, fuzzy socks, ear muffs, fur lined shoes, two pairs of pants, and a large scarf. Needless to say he could hardly walk.
Tasha lead her son to the door, helping him out and into the car. The ride to school was a short one, but before stepping out Trate dared to ask. Mommy..Carl asked if I could play with him today after school.. He simple muttered softly. You can't go.
Mommy, I haven't been to Carl's in weeks.
Carl was sick not long ago his house is infected. Besides those parents of his let the both of you play outside! Outside! You're not playing outside in this weather with a sick kid. She hissed getting out and opening Trate's car door.
Mommy, Why can't I get sick!? Everyone else does! He asked in a fury, quickly biting his lip afterwards.
Trate, people DIE from getting sick. I'm not letting you or father leave me. Not when I know how to prevent it. She stated giving him a quick hug and letting him on his way.
Most would find the speak heart warming... It was annoying, she always said that...
This was a normal morning for the family, minus the small outburst from Trate. This was Monday, and the rest of the week was about the same. It was Saturday ,that wasn't like every other.
Every Saturday morning Trate Aurimn would get to eat his breakfast in front of the T.V. for the Saturday cartoons. He was guaranteed a warm meal, for it was his father's day off. Harold always cooked a meal, mostly bacon and eggs. His mother slept in like normal, she wouldn't wake up until close to 11:00.
Now most parents try to keep kids away from Television, Trate's mother encouraged it, it meant there would be no playing outside. However after his favorite show, Harold would take his son outside against his wife's wishes to play catch. He loved Saturday for this; he got to play with father, and then make a snowman in the neighbor's yard. They didn't mind seeing as it was his aunt and uncle.
Trate wished he could make on in front of his house, but then his mother would know he was outside.
Upstairs, Tasha woke up earlier then normal. She couldn't breath out her nose it was so stuffed up. She felt even more groggy then when she normally wakes up. Outside she could see a man building a snowman with his son next door.
But they didn't have any kids- She froze.
That was Trate and Harold!
Standing quickly she immediately fell back onto her bed from a sudden dizzy spell. After waiting for the room to stop spinning, she got to the window, now ready to shout her lungs out at them.
But there was no sound. Her voice was hoarse and her throat so sore.
She was sick....
Harold and Trate had no clue of this until they came back in and laid about for an hour. They begin to realize Tasha was not up and around yet.
She was still in bed, and to Harold's surprise, sick, not just sick though. She looked dead, her eyes sunken in, skin pale. By Monday she only looked worse. Tasha started missing weeks of work, until eventually she was going almost every week. But not to work, she was the patient. Trate was no longer allowed to be around his mother. She feared he'd get sick too, it already looked like Harold was. However he was sick with grief ,and along with Tasha-the worse she got the worse he was.
Eventually Tasha never came home from the hospital. She was living there now and Trate could only see her after school if she was awake. The first night he saw her..It wasn't a pleasurable memory. He walked into the room and gasped, he wanted to scream. But his voice did not show up. His mother looked like a monster. Tubes running into her nose, and mouth. So many machines connected to her, a constant beep nose filling the air. It was like a constant reminder where they were.
Tasha stayed like this for three years, three long years. The doctors kept relocating her, and could not find any answers. Every time Trate would visit his mother she seemed more distant then before. Her eyes looking blank, it was as if she wasn't even with them anymore.
On his eleventh birthday, Tasha passed away. And even after closer inspection of her body, there were still no answers to her disease or death.
Young Aurimn grew to resent these doctors, they could have tried more. They could have done something to help her more and them.
It was then he knew what he was going to do.
He was going to be a doctor.
At eleven years old he decided this, and he kept up with plan until it came true.
--------------------
You're still in good health Harold
Trate chuckled pulling the stethoscope away from his father. He was in his eighties now, and was as strong as an ox. The only problem he had was his glaucoma, same problem Trate himself had.
The young boy from before had grown up, now taking care of his father. Paying back for the love he had given double time after the death of Tasha.
Trate Aurimn now at age thirty-eight was now known as Dr. Aurimn.
He wasn't a surgeon of any kind. But he still saved many lives, checking on people, catching diseases before they were worse. He also dealt as a midwife from time to time. Thus he helped babies experience their first breath of air.
He didn't work at the same hospital his mother did, it was torn down long ago. The building was small, more like a clinic then a hospital. The city was growing and a new larger hospital was built. It was the best medical facility of its time, helping hundreds of people a day. It had many nurses to tend to patients and lots of doctors on hand. The city was very proud of it and the people in the medical fields.
Trate now lived in a nice town home in the city. He couldn't stand to live near his old home. Reminders of his mother still haunted him.
The Aisha was seeing a woman named Roman too. She was sweet cloud Gnorbu he had met during his last years of medical school. Or at least he considered himself her boyfriend. If you'd ask her, she'd call him her best friend.
It was a comical sort of relationship.
Roman was aiming to be a child's doctor, and was still in school around this time. Finally graduating , the two of them eventually moved into the same house, Trate was now forty-two. Rooming together while she found a sturdy place to work at. She had put herself through school and was running slow on money. It took much persuasion to get her to room with him. Roman hated living off of people, not when she could be independent.
Two years later he was happily married to the love of his life. Roman and he lived a very happy life. Both of them successful doctors, yet living in a beautiful modest home. It was his dream come true.
Then by forty-five he now expecting to be a father himself. He worried so much, being as old as he was, soon he was turn forty-six years old. Would he even be able to hand a baby now? Or would he even BE a good dad?
His youthful wife, Roman was only in her thirties. Out of the two she was defiantly the calm one. Her voice was calming and she always managed to keep the overreacting Doctor under control. Though he was always calm at work, it was with his own life he seemed to become a worrywart...
Either way, no matter how much he would worry in the end he always became hopeful. Knowing he would make a great father.
This was his life...It was so normal, but he enjoyed every last moment of it.

The Disaster:
Mister Laronz is here to see you again. He claims his back is still in pain. She stated, Aurimn gave her a concerned look
. This was the fourth time this man had showed up. He was beginning to believe he wasn't doing as he was told for his condition.
I'll take you to him sir. She offered.
Trate accepted, amused about how she had to count the hallways and check to make sure she was in the right wing.
You're still getting lost Nattily? He laughed, she only giggled with him.
Yeah, this place is huge. Here he is. She finally exclaimed, a small sense of pride for actually locating both the doctor and the room.
I'll be at the nurse's station if you need me sir. Just call me She said and hurried off to finish her job.
Trate took a mental note of that and took the papers and info off of the door. He scanned the information on Robert Laronz quickly before walking in.
Still having that back pain Bob? He asked sitting down across from the Nimmo.
Yeah It won't stop, The medicine you gave me worked fine but now it's just getting worse.
Trate listened carefully, writing on the paper attached to his clipboard as he did so.
After hours of checking Trate started to get more worried at what he could think of what was wrong. Nothing seemed wrong with him. But looking at the intense pain of the older male, one could tell otherwise.
I think something might have ruptured in you Bob. he said as calmly as he could, however both men seemed just as worried.
I'm going to call Nattily, she'll get you to the lab so they can take a look. He said
You'll be okay.
pushing the button on the wall, he then called into it:
Nattily? Can you please come down here, I have another appointment soon and Bob needs help.
It was a button similar to those in patient's rooms. The hospital was so large, it was only more convenient to have them for the doctors or nurses to use. Someone was always at the nurse's station too...
However there wasn't any answer from Nattily.
Trate tried again
Nattily? Nattily are you there?
No one, she must be lost in the hospital again. He grabbed the phone, pushing a few buttons.
Nurse Rose? He called into the phone, no one answer back still
What on earth is going on? Some sick joke He hissed in anger, Bob groaned in more pain
Do you at least have pain killers Doc? He whined.
Dr. Aurimn looked at the man in defeat, he'd have to be late to his other appointment he wasn't about to leave Bob behind like this.
Come on Robert let's go. I'll take you.
They stepped outside, it was empty.. The hallway completely empty. Neither noticed at first. Bob only concentrating on his pain, Dr. Aurimn thinking of his patient. When they got to the lab room it too was empty, At first this agitated the Aisha... It was then he noted the smell... Blood? Sure they did blood work in this room. But It smelt like they just took bottles of it and slung it around in the back room.
No one at the desk..I'm going in the back. he stated opening the door-
And he screamed. There was blood everywhere! But not prebottled! Dead nurses slug all over the walls. Slipping in a pool of blood, Trate let out another holler, falling down and hitting the ground hard. his whole world felt dizzy now, laying on the ground stunned. For a moment he though he could hear Robert calling his name in worry, Then Bob started screaming. Was he in that much pain? Slowly, by grabbing onto the counter Trate managed to stand. Now, he could just look out the nurses window and...What was that thing!? He gasped shortly covering his mouth and backing up until a wall allowed it no longer. It was some kind of beast, devouring the Nimmo whole. After finishing its meal the unknown monster sniffed about before leaving. It didn't smell him? He looked down noting the blood all over himself. He didn't smell like himself.. It was all he could thing of for the reason. In disbelief to what he saw he sat down. He could now hear a few more screams in rooms near him. The fur on his neck standing on end at the sounds of pain. He sat in there for twenty minutes when the lights flickered, then shut off completely along with the AC.
OH NO!
The power! All those people on life support. All he could do was cry, all those innocent people, so close to being well again. All the people in comas who one day would have woken up once more. In a few hours maybe less, they would be gone. More of those things began to come into the room, seemed like they were filling it with bodies now. Dr. Aurimn was sitting in a corner under the desk, trying to control his sobbing. Trying to think of a way out. He was on the third floor, and using the stairs was out of the question. It had to be the way those things were moving about. They were much too large for the elevators and.. The elevators, of course! They had a backup generator in case people were stuck inside during a power up!
They would still be running because they ran on a outside power source!!
He could use one of those he could- ...The closest one was located in another hallway. ..
It seemed like it had been hours. Hours he had bared that smell which grew increasingly worse. Now that the beasts were also throwing some bodies were he was hiding. Then they stopped, and mass screams just echoed through out the building. Guess they gave up on being discreet now.
HELP PLEASE HELP!
He lifted his head, it was Nattily on the pager.
He would have cried more if he didn't already feel so drained. Her words were so slurred, she had to be hurt too.
They're blocking the exits! PLEASE! N-NO, NO GET AWAY FROM M- the speaker turned silent.
What was she thinking? Was she hoping if she screamed loud enough, someone outside would hear? They were blocking the exits? Just how smart were these things? He waited longer it was starting to get dark out now. He had to make a run for it. Dr. Aurimn's mind no longer on his patients but his family at home. He had to make a run for the elevator.
Slowly his aching body crawled out from the desk, by now all the blood was caked on the floor and his clothing. However the stench of the room was unbearable. Flies already managed to conjure up from no where and were now swarming about. Carefully he raised upwards, stopping only when he could completely see the room in front of him. A small chuckle erupted from his mouth, it was quick, barely even sounding like a laugh. Sounding more like the noise someone made when they just given up. Whatever kind of noise he made, he didn't even notice it. Though every other nose he made seemed to echo to him once he stepped out of that back room. His breathing, his footsteps, even just the sound of him moving through the air. He felt like those things could hear it all and was just taunting him. Either way he made it across the carpeted room and could now see out into the hallway. Taking a step back he had to lean against the wall. All the bodies, all the blood. Dr. Aurimn felt like he was going to be sick to his stomach. But he couldn't turn back now, it literally was 'all or nothing'. The first to steps out into the hallway seemed like murder. This time his footsteps really did echo, and it was that noise that just made him run. His brain just telling him the buildings attackers heard that. Before long, the things DID hear him, and were running his way! Running down the hallway, actually climbing across the wall and the ceiling. It was like some deranged horror movie gone wrong. Slamming into the wall of the elevator Dr. Aurimn began to repetitively mashing the 'down' button. Each second, each 'PING' from the elevator only meant those things were closing in. The door then sweeped open and Dr. Trate Aurimn ran inside throwing his back against the furthest wall just in time to see an arm of one of the beast get closed on by the doors. Slumping down on the ground, he finally felt like he could relax while the ride took it's time on the way down.
I'm going to make it.. I'm coming home sweetie.. He said to himself in a tired hushed tone. Images of his wife and child filling his head. The ride down seemed like it took both an eternity and only a few seconds.
Once the elevator hit it's landing and opened up for him, he sighed in relief. The door was right there in plain sight. Whatever Nattily said was blocking it was gone now. Standing in the Elevator for a few more moments, Trate Aurimn started summing up all his courage. This was cut short from the sound of the elevator, forcing him to leap out. To his surprise it started to rise up afterwards.
Did those things actually press the button?
Where they hoping to summon him back up there?
Or attempt to use it themselves?
He shook his head, now was not the time to start thinking on such things. He had to start acting, If the beasts were intelligent, they'd soon arrive for him.
The run to the door, took just as long as that elevator ride. Or at least it seemed like forever for the physician. He was now just running, he didn't care to sneak, the door was right there, the doorknob now gracing his fingers! He WAS going to make it!
A baby's crying...
he could hear it, directly behind...Dare he turn around. He could leave, he had his own baby back at home to think of. It continued to cry, now joining it was a woman shushing it, fear and tears hindering her voice somewhat.
He turned around... There under some debris was a young woman, possibly early twenties trying to calm what seemed to be a new born. Far away he could hear screeches. He couldn't leave the mother and her child, unlike the attackers he was not a monster. Running back, Dr. Aurimn struggled to get the pieces of wall and ceiling off of her. Freeing her from her trap and her hiding place.
Come on let's hurry! He urged her pushing the woman on the back to get her a head start.
She made it through the door, now only he needed to get there.
SSKKKREEEEEE!!!!
The creature came from nowhere falling down right in front of him with ease. Of course.. They could climb walls and ceilings. He stood there in fear, He managed to stumbled back once, just missing a quick slice of the vile being's hands. This one wasn't as large as all the beasts, but more nimble. Instead of two large hands with razor claws, it proudly wore two gigantic scythe-like appendages connected to its torso. Dr. Aurimn fell down on the ground from the impact to his head. He now had a nice gash across his forehead. It stuck terrible feeling like something was leaking into his bloodstream. It made him get a certain rush of energy, letting him stand back up. But his thoughts were slow blurry he didn't run. He only glanced up at his attacker, staring at it through the blood covering his face. Slowly it raised it's arms up into the ait, like as if it was forming a 'Y'. It even almost appeared like the monster was smiling devilishly at him. Then in one quick sweeping moment, Trate Aurimn's life was over. His head falling to the ground, only to be joined by his stunned body a few moments later.
--------------------
The Aftermath:
What of the monsters?
Again it is uncertain. They could have left after their kill. Or maybe they were locked up with the building lurk about, could be that they went underground to sleep. Or just starved, the possibilities and theories endless.
And the good doctor..? Well....
It was the day after the massacre,
Trate's eyes slowly opened it up... It was daylight and his eyes felt so heavy. A beam of light coming from a nearby window tortured him, keeping him from falling back asleep like he so wanted to.
What had happened?
He was laying on a floor, that much he could tell. His entire body felt numb...
His attention snapped awake. Where was the creatures!? Or to be exact THE creature!? He tried to sit up, But his vision only stayed close to the ground. Didn't he just sit? He could hear walking now, was someone there?
Hello? Please! I can't get up! He called out, but the other didn't answer. Though they were in the same room as him, he just heard them. Aurimn's ear then caught the sound of the person slamming into something. A wall mayb-OW! His teeth clinched at the sudden sharp pain, felt like he ran into something. But he's lying down...What's going on? "Hello!" He said again, now more panic stricken. It took a moment but after finally glancing down, he noticed he was lacking...A body. Right in front of him was someone, him..Across the room trying to find his way around the wall. He stared in disbelief.. That was his body...He was dead? But he's awake.
He willed himself to raise his hand, the body did it.
To turn around.
It did as told.
He kept this up until his body was right there bending over and picking him up. It was then, in his own arms that he screamed.
Needless-to-say, he sat down against a wall in shock for a few hours. Not know what to think, coming up with so many reasons why it was impossible. He died! He remembered it, the creature, the quick sharp pain followed by blackness. Though no matter how much he asked
How?
He received no answers. It was late at night when he finally stood and began to move about. Flipping on several lights he was grim to see all those bodies, the stench in the air so heavy and thick. Aurimn managed to get into a hospital room, grabbing some sowing items to at least put his head back where it belonged. To his surprise he felt pain, intense pain. Sowing his head back on hurt so much he had to stop so many times to clean his face of tears. Yet he managed, and quickly wrapped medical tape around the wound so he wouldn't have to see it. It was then he noticed the large gaping wound across his forehead, and much to his distaste he sowed it up too...
It was in this hospital Dr. Aurimn stayed. The first month was..tolerable. The building still had electricity. He was able to watch the news about the massacre. Was able to hear the grateful mother share his story, and see his own wife mourn for his death. Devastated that his body could not be located. And though he had that one month to enjoy the electricity, he did not. He too mourned, and cried. How could he return home? He was dead, and he would have to watch his wife become old and die in front of him, as well as his beautiful daughter.
He stayed in the hospital, making it his own personal 'land of the afterlife'. Sure so many times he walked out, trying to mingle, trying to have interaction with people again. However by doing this he almost ran into his daughter when she was in her thirties. Trate never returned to the outside again. Fearing she or his wife would see him.
Eventually the power in the building was shut down, people worrying over how the building was still using electricity. It was boarded up tighter, many children would venture in, and disappear. Trate never witnessed any of the 'disappearances' but he could hear screaming and...Monsters growling. Then after so many years later the entire portion of town was deserted...Leaving him alone, to rott in the place of his death forever.

Getting out:
(This entire section is a roleplay between myself and Mossdraped)
Come on, Fin, quit lagging!
I'd be able to run better if you'd let go! He yanked his arm away, following after the Bori's tender steps. They really should try to be more quiet, but it was a stressful moment. Their plans of setting up for a heist later in the week was a failure, the police having been called on them after some street merchant noticed them sneaking into the abandoned factory.
This way, here.
Lybra, really, where are we even going? Do you have the slightest idea?! This part of the city is all abandoned. Do you seriously think any of these buildings AREN'T going to be bolted shut?
The Bori glanced over her shoulder as she ran, sending a glare to the Korbat before scouting behind him. She could see the cops in the distance. Obviously they could see her and Fin, too. They had to hide, and quick. She grabbed the Korbat's hand once more, ignoring the huff he gave out as she did so. Dragging him around the next corner, she spotted what seemed to be an abandoned hospital.
Bingo. she said, making a bee-line for it. She slammed into the nearest set of doors, realizing afterwards that they'd been chained shut from the outside.
Darn! Come on!
Lybra bounced off the doors, taking Fin around the next corner.
Windows! she said glancing around for something to hit one of them with.
Fin was already ahead of her. The Korbat gripped a large metal pipe from the ground, heaving it around his side as if swinging a baseball bat to launch at the
window. It shattered most of the glass, the rest was quickly scraped away by Lybra's frantic clawing to clear the window's frame of random shards. She jumped, reaching over her head to remove the glass as Fin came up beneath her to lift her up.
Forget it, just get in, we'll deal with the cuts and scrapes later. Go!
Fine, fine! Lybra scrambled up onto the ledge, doing her best to haul Fin inside with her.
Oh it smells terrible in he-
She stopped short, a shudder rippling
through her fur.
Oh gosh.. is that blood?
We don't have TIME, Lybra, go! Fin nearly booted her from the ledge, jumping down afterwards to take the lead.
He grabbed his friend's hand and pulled her further into the building, ignoring her gasps and moans as she scrambled to keep up.
The building itself was in shambles, the walls had holes on in them, missing floor tiles, blood stains, not to mention a few bones scattered about. Rabid tigermice and other rodent like petpets hissed towards the two intruders and fled back to their nests. In a way, it would have been hard to believe this building was once occupied, let alone a hospital.
Outside the snow began picking up, falling at a much faster pace ,covering all tracks on the ground. The police chase had come to a hault near a fork in the road. There were many place the two could have ran to hide.
Pacings...What do we do? One asked, a small gelert, spoke out. He was starting to shiver at all the new coming snow. Detective John Parsings, otherwise known has 'Pacings', has no clue. He bit and gnawed at his lower lip in dismay, causing blood to start pouring from the self inflicted wound.
We can't find them in this weather.. He said in defeat turning to the sky.
It's only going to get worse, let's just hope when we do find them, they're frozen to death He spatted in frustrating. Then turned on his heels to began leading the team off to safety.
What was that nose?
Windows breaking?
The tired Aisha lifted his head up, hoping to hear more sound. It was dark in the room he was in but much warmer then the rest of the hospital. It was his office, one place that was actually free of blood and less turmoil then most of the building. It was located on the first floor in the back of hospital. Aurimn laid bundled on the floor with all the blankets he had took from closets. The room itself was a mess, having all kinds of things scattered about. Things left from patients, scarfs, knitting things, cards to read. Anything to keep himself occupied, he had in that room. But now the noise was all that stayed in his head. No one was ever around this part of town anymore, so no one should be nearby. Sitting up now he could feel his head become heavy, seemed like the stitches were becoming weaker and loose again.
The old doctor sighed, soon he would be out of supplies and he'd have to just tote his head around to eternity. Now on his feet,
Dr. Aurimn scooped up a scarf and tightly wrapped it on his neck, that way his cranuim would have more support. It wouldn't hurt to go out and see, this has been the most excitement the place had seen in years after all.
Fin, please, I really think we need to re-evaluate the situation at hand.
Lybra, we don't have time.
We DO have time!
Lybra pulled her arm away, nearly tripping in the process. Uhg, all the crust on the floor, it was terrible.
Fin, we're inside, they're outside. We're fine now. Look at this place, it's disgusting. There's probably disease lurking in all this filth. I don't want to be in here.
Do we have much of a choice? The police are after us, there's snow outside. Did you forget about that, Lybra? It's snowing. We're on foot, and there's gunna be a trail no matter what we do.
Well maybe if you'd work on flying, we wouldn't have an iss-
OH DON'T YOU START! The Korbat growled, his hands curling into fists at his side.
Don't even bother, I'm leaving. This place is a wreck. The cops have probably given up by now anyways. Where's a door? Lybra waddled through the room,
pushing aside small tables and stacks of old and tattered papers that littered the area. The door was already ajar, blocked in it's position by a small bed-side table that had been pushed up against it. Something must have forced it's way in long ago. Lybra pulled the table from the door, pulling it open to take a disgusted look out into the hallway.
Eurg, there's so much crust.
She took a few delicate whiffs of the air, her nose crinkling with disgust.
B lood... everywhere.. it's no question as to why they closed this place down.
Fin stepped up behind the Bori, his hands folded over his chest.
Well, go on.
He waved a motion through the doorway.
Lead on, Lybs. You're the one that wants out.
Don't call me Lybs, you know you're not allowed to call me that. She frowned, moving into the hallway to take in the details of each direction. They must be on the ground level, but there was no telling if there was a basement to the place. Obviously the nearest door to the outside world was chained shut from the outside, she'd learned that earlier. Perhaps if they explored a little further towards the back of the place, they could find some stairs. Worst case scenario, they'd just leave the way they entered; though Lybra much preferred finding a new route just in case the cops were still out there waiting for them.
Alright, let's go this way.. through the filth.. She shuddered, motioning for Fin to follow
Dr. Aurimn shivered as soon as the door to office was opened. It was a lot colder out in the rest of the hospital then he thought. Earlier he had made a small fire in his room, thus there was still heat in there. Soon as he stepped out from his haven he made sure to shut the door quickly, not wanting more cold air to slip in that already has.
Now he was certain he could hear people. Both fear and excitement welled up inside of him.
People,
there were people here!
Someone he could talk to!..So long as they knew he was alive. He double checked the scarf, now actually tying it in a tough knot around his neck. He then proceeded to dust himself off, at times he just caught himself sleeping.. For a long, long time, dust sometimes would often settle on him. Looking at his clothes, he couldn't help but think about how nasty his old doctor's clothes were. Still stained in blood from those years before.
Taking a few more steps into the hall he could hear vivid crunching coming from his feet, it was from all the paper, grime, and blood still staining the floors. Aurimn was glad he had hidden most of the skeletons from view, It was bad enough when they were fresh corpses, but even in skeletal form he could identify a few people. After so long he couldn't take it anymore, and against his own will stuffed them in rooms and closets.
Nervously, Trate glanced about his shoulder, he feared of those monsters returning, last time someone was here they woke up. But this was forty years ago, hopefully they died from lack of food.
Sensitive ears twitching, he could hear the people, they were loud. One had heavy footsteps, and seemed to do nothing but holler.
Something about hiding?
How on earth did they plan on hiding if they made such noise?
Either way the intelligent one screaming about hiding was male, it appeared he had a female with him. Taking a deep breathe he moved on, following the sounds of his 'guests'.
This place stinks.
Lybra stopped, turning to her friend in disbelief.
Have I not been saying that this entire time?! UHG! She smacked him in the arm, though it was a weak attempt at an attack. You annoy me sometimes, you know that? She turned, grabbing his wrist to lead him on down the hallway.
Where does this even go? There's so many turns in here.
It's a hospital, Lybra. Hospitals are made up of hallways and corridors.
Shut up. She pouted, dragging Fin along as she marched down the hallway. And then she stopped, so suddenly, in fact, that Fin walked into from behind.
Darn it, Lybra, what're you-
Shush.
What?
I said shush! Lybra tossed a hand behind her to swat at the Korbat, her large ears perking up. Footsteps... up ahead! She turned and ran towards the wall, scrambling to grab at the first doorknob she could get a hold of.
Fin, come on!
I'd be coming if you'd get the door open! he said, his voice hushed for once. He clawed at the door, ramming his shoulder into it. Something was blocking it from the other side.
Here, try this one! He ran back down the hallway, crossing it to another door which opened easily.
Lybra, here. He said, waving her over. She hesitated for a moment before crossing the hallway and slipping into the opened room, waiting for Fin to enter with her before closing the door.
The room's scent was heavier then the other's they'd been in. It was thick and stale, the ventilation systems in the building having been disabled long ago.
OH GOSH, FIN!
Lybra clasped a hand over her mouth, her voice barely working past a pressed whisper.
Don't turn around, DON'T TURN AROUND! She clung to Fin's side, shivering.
I hope whoever it is just leaves, I want to get out of here!
What's wrong? What are you freaking out about no-URGH!
I told you not to turn around! Lybra smacked Fin in the chest before huddling closer to him. The room, although it's door had been unblocked from the inside, had quite a few skeletons piled up. Some were wrapped in crusted sheets, others strewn in
awkward poses across the floor. The dark crust which had been present in other rooms of the hospital coated the floor in thick sheets, creeping up the walls and even gracing the ceiling in a few select areas. Something big had happened in the hospital, and Lybra didn't want to find out what it had been.
You promise me... right now, Fin... as soon as we hear those footsteps pass this door, we're bolting out the way we came in. I don't care if the cops are still out there, we'll deal with them later.
Sounds like a deal. Fin said, his head tilting somewhat to take a disgusted scan of the room.
Dr. Aurimn stopped his walking now. He could hear the people scuttling about distressed, and the sound of doorknobs. The loud voices from early had quickened, and were now muffled.
Why the sudden change?
He thought out loud to himself tiredly. He began to walk again, glancing down at his dirt covered fancy dress shoes, he noted the clacking noise made against the grimey hard floor. Oh yes, He should remember that, it was same thing that scared him into running from those creatures. The doctor could hear doorknobs now...
Oh dear.. He sputtered weakly to himself. They were trying to get into a room, so many of those rooms were fill with bodies, of not only people but animals that
had gotten in and starved. After such a long walk, he paused noting the footprints, and change of the grime on the floor. Something with some pretty nasty nails had been walking about. He pitied the person trudging through the building without any shoes. Though the most sorrow came from where ever it was they were hiding. H-h.. he stopped trying to clear his throat. How long was it sense he last spoke now? Sure to keep his sanity he talked to petpets that would wander in, but he really couldn't remember. And with the stitching on his neck it kept his throat sore constantly it seemed.
Hello? he blurted out with some trouble, looking around as he said so. He couldn't see much in front of him. Messing with his pockets he yanked out a handful of matches, dropping several on the floor.
Stupid hands.. He hissed to himself, angry how his cold hands were shaking so much; not to mention from all the fear and excitement he was feeling now. It took him a moment to collect as much of his matches as he could, but eventually he got to striking a match on a wall.
Hello? h-hello? anyone, please his called out, his British voice sounding desperate.
He shivered again, throwing an end of the scarf around his shoulders. Now he remembered why he just stayed in his office.
However he was receiving no answers... Maybe if he was quiet maybe he could hear them? Trate became Silent, holding the match up into the air in hopes to see further, he should have brought a candle. Eventually the match would burn out and he'd have to waste another one...
... did you hear that?
They haven't passed the door yet, have they? It's hard to hear their footsteps.
No no, don't bolt... forget what I said. It doesn't sound like a cop. Lybra turned her head, doing her best to keep her eyes focused on something other then the mess around her. She wanted to press her ear to the door to get a better listen, but was afraid of what sort of crud may be on door, all things considered.
I don't think it's a cop. She scooted back, cracking the door open to peek through. He's got a candle or something, it can't be a cop.
How can we be so sure?
Do you want out of this room or not?
Lybra tapped Fin's arm a few times to get him to move so she could open the door enough to slip through. She did so in a delicate manner, trying to be as quiet as possible. Once out, she waved to Fin to stay. If it WAS a cop, she didn't need both of them getting caught. Lybra glanced around, scrambling to move away from the door before the stranger would notice. She didn't want them associating her with the room Fin was still currently hiding in. Standing awkwardly a door up the
hallway, and more towards the center of the hall, she opened her mouth, finding it suddenly very hard to press out the words she wanted.
H-hello? I, eh... seem to be lost... in this really really run down, creepy hospital... somehow...
She glanced around, lifting her feet a few times as if not wanting to touch the floor. She was nervous about the response she'd get, but waited with a secret eagerness in hopes that this person would be a friend and not a foe.
Trate's first reaction was to jerk his head quickly to the source of the voice. But he had to remember his head would more then likely roll off at any given moment.
Um.. Hello? AH! he hissed dropping the burnt out match after the flame touched his fingers. He quickly stomped on it a little, knowing there had to be papers
everywhere to catch aflame. Slowly he walked more her way, fumbling with his matches more, then striking another. Now he was able to faintly make out the girl, a blue..something..
He couldn't tell much else, a bori maybe? Or some canine, either way it was hard to tell.
Hello... He repeated coughing a little from his sore throat. He wasn't sure what to make out from her sentence..Somehow getting lost? Was that what she had said? Either way it baffled him just as much as why she was even in the part of town, let alone this building.
Wh..why are you here? He stuttered to ask bringing in his outstretched arm so the flame now lit up his face. The glow seemed to intensify his already bizarre looking eyes.
Then in a daring move he began walking a little closer to her. Just really wanting to see her more. Was it really a person? He felt like smiling, even laughing when he saw she was indeed, real. A real person standing in front of him. Have to suppress any screams of glee.. you'd only scare her off thinking you're some creep. He
told himself, forcing any smiles away. It was easily done once the smell of blood hit him. Not the caked blood he was used to either..
You're hurt, miss He said, his voice turning from fear and confusion to worry. It had been awhile sense Dr. Aurimn last helped a person, but the need to do so was still there.
I..I can get some bandages for you, and maybe something to help. I-I just need to find a candle somewhere around here. He stated lifting the match from his face briefly to look around, then only to have to shake it until the flame died. He was not about to get burned again.
I think there's supplies in the nurse's office..Wasn't there a man with you? Is he hurt too He stopped remembering the other voice. I know I heard a loud angry man, and I'm sure you didn't make it..
Lybra stood nervously, watching the man walk around before her. She couldn't make out much about him, the match sending off a glare in her vision that forbid her to pick out any details. Oh great, he'd asked the one question she was hoping he wouldn't.
I uh..
She glanced around, as if trying to pick an excuse out of the darkness. Well, he wasn't a cop, right? Maybe she could outrun him if he tried anything.
I'm... hiding... or was, but it's really creepy in here. I was with a friend,
just.. hanging out. Someone called the cops and we freaked and ran... this was the only place we could hide so we came in through a window. The doors were chained shut. She watched as the... Aisha maybe?.. wandered around. He seemed to get a little frantic after mentioning her injury, which she hadn't even noticed, herself.
She'd climbed in the window before Fin had, and could only guess as to how many other cuts she had that she didn't know about.
Oh, the loud angry man.. yeah, that's my friend. He's here, somewhere. In fact.. Fin, hey! She stumbled forward, her hand tapping the walls to help guide her. She didn't want to run her hand along the due to it's crusty texture.
Fin.
Lybra tapped on his door, leaning in as he cracked it open for her.
I think this guys okay, come on out. I don't know what he's doing here, but he seems helpful enough.
Oh great, so we're trusting a stranger now? Fin slid around the door, his ears perked high as he readjusted his wings over his shoulders in a nervous manner.
I don't like this... can't we just leave?
And what, be rude? Maybe he can guide us out.
We can guide ourselves out.
Fin, I have no idea what room we entered through, and you probably don't either. And I'm not testing out any more rooms after that one. She said, pointing a
determined finger towards the room Fin had just emerged from.
We'll wait for him to finish rummaging around, and then have him guide us out of here. He's got to remember how he came in, right?
Dr. Aurimn stood there, blinking a few times as the other entered before them. For some odd reason a surge of fear went up his spine. The bat like structure of the male reminding him of the creatures. Tugging nervously at his scarf he noted a few scrapes on this fellow as well. The two of them must have busted open a window to get in. He took a quick glance around before striking another match.
I need to go to the nurse's station... He told them turning to walk back up the hallway.
I can get bandages from there, both of you seem injured. He stated, noting how the young woman was the worse out of the two.
His ears twitched a little as she was talking to Fin. Hearing the conversation of how he gotten inside.
I came in from the doors.. Before they were chained shut. He simply answered But I do know ways out. he added and began to move on.
The walk to the station was pretty short, after reaching the desk he scrambled quickly. not wanting to waste another match. Finding several candles, Aurimn looked, trying to find a place to set them. His solution was just shoving papers off of the table tops and slamming them into the hard surface. Forcing the candles to stick.
After lighting the candles, four in total, the room looked much better, the area around him well lit now. The dancing flames reflected nicely on his milky eyes, giving it the illusion that he didn't even have pupils.
Bandages..bandages... he muttered now tugging open any cabinet he could find. None there, he'd have to go into a room.
The room on the left is fine...
He whispered, snatching a candle and opening said door. Like he has said nothing was wrong with it, just dusty.
I found some things.. He called to them shoving what he thought was useful in a old paper bag and hurrying it outside to his new patients. Even though it was terrible of him, Dr. Aurimn was excited to be helping people again. Even if it was just some glass cuts.
Both Fin and Lybra stood silently, exchanging awkward glanced to one another in the darkness. They mouthed out words, a hand gesture flying here and there as their faces slowly began to grow more frantic.
SHUT UP! Lybra finally smacked her palms into Fin's chest in frustration, her ears pinning back as she frowned.
I didn't even say anything!
I know what you're thinking! She hissed, pointing a claw in his face.
Oh you do, huh?! Please tell me, Lybra, tell me what I'm thinking!? Fin growled, his hands balling into fists at his sides.
EURG! You drive me nuts! It's no wonder I never come on missions with you. It's so much easier in front of the screen where I can disable our conversation by dropping the line. Why, WHY did I come with you?!
Fin grabbed Lybra's arm as she made an attempt to stomp away from him, his hand coming up to shush her before she had the chance to lash out in a loud fashion again.
Lybra, seriously.
Don't 'seriously' me. I know what you're thinking, and I'm thinking the same thing. I'm also thinking we get out of here.
How could he have stayed in here that long? Could you see him? Is he some old man or somethin'?
No, Fin, I couldn't see him. He has a young voice, though. I don't like it. I think he's playing around or something but... uh, this place gives me the creeps already. What if he's some sort of serial murdered who left this place looking like the mess it is? We're in here with him Fin.. I want out!
Fin opened his mouth to speak, but no words came. Instead, his ears twisted to catch Aurimn's voice float through the deserted hallways. Fin's eyes widened as the Aisha's footsteps could be heard echoing through the hallway.
He was returning.
Fin, what do we do? I probably can't outrun him. Lybra's voice hushed to a whisper, desperation laced every word.
Just play along... maybe if we amuse him, he'll keep us around longer... then we can find a way to escape... or something.
I don't like your 'or something. Growled Lybra. Why can't you ever come up with a complete plan?
Because I'm not you.
After arriving back to his quests Dr. Aurimn made sure to carefully lay down the bag so he could find places for his candles. Luckily the hospital had many tables that were used to put decorative flowers on. He preceded with making a circle of the small tables each one holding a candle. That way the three of them could see better.
Trate was taken back by the looks of the two, definitely not people who looked like they enjoyed each other's company.
Um..Fin and Lybra..? He repeated their names, looking at them.
Um..I'm Doc-...I'm Trate Aurimn. He introduced himself, now not sure if he'd still be considered a doctor anymore.
However the look on their faces that got to him.
Fear?
Fear from what!?
He's own face reflected some panic in it. He kept his head low, digging through his bag and pulling out the bandages and tweezers to get the glass shards with. Those monsters were dead. They had been gone for years and years now. It must just be the atmosphere that scared them.
After I fix the two of you up, I'll show you the way out. he told them standing up and trying to look as friendly as he could.
Though now he felt afraid as well, thinking of how they must have seen one of those beasts.
Miss, how about I get all that glass out of your hand first... You seem to be bleeding heavily. He offered taking a step to her.
It's uh.. nice to meet you. Lybra tried to smile, but it came out awkward and half hidden by the fear that was slowly overtaking her. What kind of sick freak would hide out in a disgusting, abandoned, blood-slathered hospital for so long? She was afraid to find out. She gave a panicked glance to Fin who only seemed to raise a brow to her and then look back to the Aisha to study his features. Lybra stepped toward the tables, examining her own hand in the candle light. The Aisha had been right, she'd gotten all kinds of cuts that she hadn't noticed. It was probably the atmosphere of the place, clouding her judgement.
Uh so.. you're a doctor? You just.. I mean.. you started to say... Lybra cleared her throat, glancing around awkwardly. It would be so hard not to say something wrong. What if she made him angry and he decided to just whip out a machete?!
My gosh, look at your eyes...
FIN! Lybra turned her head to snap at him.
What?! I'm just saying... I'm a little surprised is all...
You have no right to talk. Lybra growled, adverting her eyes. Now that Fin had mentioned Aurimn's eyes, she was almost afraid to look, herself.
You haven't got any pupils... you shouldn't be allowed to talk about other people's eyes.
I have pupils, you know...
None that you can easily see. It's no surprise the term 'blind as a bat' was created. They were probably looking at one of your relatives when they came up with that saying.
Fin frowned, his head tilted to the floor as his arms crossed his chest. He stood for a minute before tilting his head up a bit to watch the Aisha.
So...
He began, a little skeptic of the situation they were in.
You mentioned earlier that you'd gotten in here before the doors were chained...
Fin...
Lybra, hush.
Fin kept his voice calm, his ears perking up as Lybra nervously obeyed. How long ago was it that uh... this place was condemned? I mean... living in here... you've got to have a food source or somethin', right?
Aurimn, blinked a few times, then took off his broken spectacles and began to rub one his eyes.
well I do have Glaucoma in one. He muttered, then afterwards, began cleaning his glasses then sat them back in their proper place. the film covering his eyes seemed a little more clear now that he had rubbed at them. After tightening his scarf one last time he walked over to Lybra and began to get any glass he could see. Using up one of his last bottles of water to clean her wounds.
All the medicine in this building if outdated and won't do you any good I'm sorry to say. He told her pushing his broken glasses closer to his face before bandaging them nicely up.
Why, Yes I am a doctor. Are you afraid of physicians or something love? You've seem terrified this whole time. Or did you... See something..? That last questiongave his own hint of fear. what if the things WHERE indeed back?! He took a deep breath and began walking to the korbat. Stopping and brushing more glass off of the Bori's back plates before leaving her side.
guess the lot of you broke a window to get inside? He nervously smiled before turning to the man.
After cleaning his small wounds he began to think.
Huh...How long go was it...?
He stopped midway through bandaging.. It was seventy years ago...That the doors were chained shut. close to Eighty when the massacre happened...
He froze, not meaning to say that out loud. It was such a terrible habit of his. Thinking of something but letting everyone else hear. Now the entire thing was going to go down hill. Though he had his own doubts about these two. If they were just 'hanging out' and frightened of cops, they would not have gone through such drastic measures to hide from them. Not unless they were doing something wrong. He began to mess with his scarf again, his head felt like it was going to fall all. He could feel some of the threads coming undone. More then likely from all the searching and turning of his head that had been done.
Lybra cleared her voice, glancing aside. Uh.. no, it was just.. you'd started to say you were a doctor and then stopped. I wasn't sure if.. you were embarrassed
by it or.. She shrugged. She hadn't really known where she was going with that conversation.
But uh.. She stalled, bitting her lip. Would he get suspicious if she mentioned the skeletons and tons of blood splattered everywhere?
Well.. just..
This place is disgusting.
Fin!
Well YOU weren't gunna say it. You're over there stuttering and stalling. Just spit it out already. There's crud all up the walls and on the floors, that room back there had what I'd like to think were NOT bodies from a bunch of slaughtered people.. This place is a dump.
Lybra glared at Fin, taking her free hand to reach for her glasses which she swiped against her tank top before adjusting back on her nose.
We uh.. yeah, broke
a window.. Couldn't get in the door and there weren't really any other options open to us. But I have no idea what room we came in. We sort of hurried out into the hallway and then into a side room and.. this place is like a labyrinth.
Fin watched silently as Aurimn began addressing his wounds. He wasn't really all that worried about them; they could easily be bandaged at home, but he figured he'd amuse the doctor and let him feel helpful. It wasn't until that time line was mentioned again that Fin's attention was really drawn to the Aisha.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.. Eighty years and.. no..
Oh....Man Lybra's mouth shut tight, her bright fur nearly standing on end.
But..
Her lip curled slightly, a glance back and forth between the two males saying 'Fin.. you're letting him touch you.. ew.'
That's not possible.. You couldn't have survived.. that... long. Fin trailed off, his ears dropping back.
... What in the world are you?! He snatched his hand away, backing up a few steps in a defensive manner.
What are you and why aren't you in some science lab, somewhere?!
Fin, don't.. really, I don't think this is a good time for your temper... let's just get out of here.. Lybra backed up with Fin, tilting sideways to slip behind him.
Fin halted, his brow furrowing with thought. Why AREN'T you in a lab somewhere...? Does.. really.. no one knows your here?
Oh gosh, Fin, no. Lybra stepped around the Korbat to face him. Fin, don't speak in that tone, it's not happening.
No one knows?
Fin, no! Go, come on, we're leaving. Lybra did her best to try and drag Fin down the hallway, but it was to no avail. She was much smaller then he was, and
didn't have nearly enough strength to get him to go anyway.
Fin, please.. I don't like that look.. I don't want any part in this.
Seriously? A devious smile crossed his face. You're some... what, living dead? You're a freak of nature and no one has discovered you yet...
Aurimn stumbled back, fear began to well inside of him as the manner of the korbat took change. The question asked bringing total surprise to him.
What..What am..I?.. I'm a Doctor. He stuttered looking back between the two. Now his patients were looking more like threats to him. More so the man then the Bori. Eventually he lost his footing and fell down on his hindquarters. Instinctively grabbing for his head making sure it stayed put for the time being.
A...A lab!?? A large amount of fear spreading on his face. I,...I don't want to go to a lab, no. He stuttered shaking his head in disbelief, tears now forming in Aurimn's eyes. There was no telling what would happen to him in such a ghastly place. All the torture and maddening experiments.
Please.. You're not. his voice trailing now like it was becoming weaker each time he spoke. Desperately, Dr. Aurimn turned Lybra, Wanting to plea with her. She seemed more companionate out of the two. I'm not a lab experiment, I'm a doctor...Don't let him. He stopped after that, he felt like he couldn't even form any more words now. Seemed any new sentence he tried to form he just choked on. Aurimn was just stunned at the turn of events. looking up into the hateful eyes of the korbat, it took him right back to the day of his murder. Fin looking so much like a predator, now ready to kill for his spoils. He wasn't a lab experiment.... He helped them! How could they do this to him when he helped them!?
He could threaten to never show them the way out. Then wait for them to get lost and lock them away. He could, and they'd never tell of his existence... And they'd starve to death.
He couldn't do that...
There was nothing he could do... He was trapped, even worse then he already was.
Aurimn began to cry.
Lybra continued tugging on Fin's arm. Fin, no! No, I'm not getting involved like this! She snapped, her lips curling to show what was a pathetic attempt at a snarl towards her friend.
Lybra, think of it. We'd be set for life!
And we'd be all over the news! You can't show your face like that, Fin. You know people can identify you!
Then YOU'LL do it, problem solved! Fin nearly laughed. No one knows what you look like, Lybs, you hide behind that computer all the time, and-
NO! And don't call me Lybs. I told you you're not allowed to call me that.
Oh, come on.
NO! Lybra stomped, glaring at the Korbat.
That's like slavery or.. no, I don't want any part in it, and I won't allow YOU to partake in anything like that. He's going to show us the way out, and that's it. We leave here and forget this ever happened.
Lybra, you've got about a million dollars sitting right in front of you.
Lybra's glance shifted from Fin to Aurimn, her upright ears tilting at an awkward angle. Fin, I have a pair of crying eyes.. dead or undead eyes.. staring at me. That isn't a million dollars, that's some.. She inhaled, not really sure where she was going.
Lybra, he's dead, what does he care?
Well, he's sitting on the floor crying, he obviously cares about himself a little. Lybra released Fin's arm, taking another smack at him just to make herself feel better.
Oh come on, Lybra..
No, I'm not doing this.
Lybra walked over to Aurimn, bending over to lean with a hand on her knees as she offered her free hand to help him up. Her look was a little distasteful, apathy laced with caution.
I'll... take you somewhere.. not a lab.. I don't even know where any labs are. She turned back to Fin, glaring once more.
Are you crazy? Do you even KNOW any labs? Gosh, you're an idiot.
What?! Fin nearly barked, clearly becoming disgusted with Lybra's actions of siding with the... zombie? What was that guy exactly?
So.. uh.. Doctor.
Lybra eyed him up and down the best she could in the dim light, a frown creasing her lips. You haven't been out of this building in eighty years, huh? Guess there's a lot to show you..
Sitting on the floor, Aurimn could hear bits of their conversation. He was little too upset to hear too much, still shaken from the entire ordeal. With a shaky hand he took his glasses off trying to wipe off the water from them. By the time he sat them back on his nose, Lybra was by him. His focus was much better as he listened to her speak. It made him feel a lot more at ease to listen to her.
Thank you... he muttered weakly now adjusting his scarf and taking her hand. It took him a moment to stand, having to place his hand on her shoulder to keep steady.
I..I've been outside a few times.. But, well ,this part of town is closed. So I didn't learn much about your world.
He answered with a sighed, his voice still a little unsteady.
Thank you again miss Lybra.. He said again gratefully, a pathetic smile gracing his face for a brief second. The rest of his facial features still seemed drooped. His ears, all four of them, his eyes, and whiskers; all in a drooped position.
I..I may have died.. But I'm still thinking, and I still have a heartbeat.. He stated, hoping she'd understand.
Lybra watched Aurimn, her clawed hands pulling in to rest at her chest in a cautious manner.
Interesting.. You're dead.. but you're not.
Hmph.
Did I ask your opinion?! Lybra turned to glare and snap at Fin once more, receiving an equally threatening glare from the Korbat. She held her glare for a few
moments before softening her look and returning to Aurimn.
Alright well.. I uh.. don't really know what to do in this situation. We need to get out of here. That's
top priority, I suppose. And then we've got to figure out what to do with you. I mean.. this place is disgusting, you can't stay here. She glanced around, obviously still disgusted with the place.
So.. I'll take you back to our place for now, and then we'll figure something out. We have plenty of room.. Fin got himself a place much larger then he'll ever need.
Says you. It WAS bigger then I needed until you went and started usin' all the rooms.
Oh hush, you. I'm finished arguing. You got us into this mess, and I'm getting us out of it. All three of us. Lybra sighed, her ears folding back as she took off her glasses and cleaned them with her shirt; her instinct to do so nudging at her after seeing Aurimn clean his own glasses. This is why I don't come on missions with you, Fin. You get into trouble and we all go down in flames. At least if I stay at my post, I have the ability to guide you out of messes like this. We're thieves, by the way. She said, directing her last statement at the Aisha. Oh, what the-, Lybra! Let's just go and tell him everything about us!
I will, thank you. Actually, Fin's the thief.. I'm the.. Director of Operations, more or less. I sit back, create weapons, guide Fin through missions.. I do all the fun stuff. You'll be hanging with me back at Fin's house because that's where I live. Fin.. she sneered, ..can just deal with it. You've been nice enough through this whole ordeal and I don't want him messing any of this up. You seem knowledgeable enough... maybe you could be of some use, if you'd want to be.. without being in a lab. PFT. Lab... where is there even a lab? She said, rolling her eyes as if the threat had now become some sort of inside joke.
I thought you two weren't just kids who got in trouble.
He spoke looking between the two. they were thieves, more then likely they hurt people just to steal...
But they were people, and they were talking to him..The idea of being in civilization again. It sounded fantastic.
I sounds great..Being around people again. He sighed looking down at his hands as he spoke. Standing there silently, he tried to think of the best room to collect
some items to stitch up his neck before they left. Slowly he lifted his head looking at Fin for a moment before just turning to Lybra. He didn't like looking at that man...
Then before he knew it he was gratefully hugging Lybra.. Just the hug and human contact was as wonderful as the idea of living with others. All he do was simply mutter Thank you To her a few times. He had no other way to show it.
To his distaste, the hug didn't last that long. Having to stand up and situate his head correctly on his neck. He could feel more of the threads give away again.
The way out isn't far from this room either, at least for us..Might have to break another window for your friend. He's too big. He explained...
Oh and before we go, I need to go into a room and fix something. I hope you don't mind , love. He stated keeping all his focus and conversation to her only. Then picked up a candle and went on his way..
after entering the room, Aurimn began digging around before finding some medical thread and a needle. The thought came across to just start stitching, however he ended up shoving a large amount of the supplies in a doctor's bag. It would be nice to actually sow in light for once.
That and he didn't want to keep them waiting any longer.
Uh no... that thing about us being kids was a lie.
A terrible lie.
Well, I never said I was good at lying. Lybra glanced to Fin but was distracted by the sudden feeling that someone was latching onto her. Because someone was latching on to her. Her fur immediately stood on end, her hands balling into fists as she did her best to restrain herself from squealing. Her eyes darted to Fin for help, nearly screaming 'Help meeeeee! He's touching meeee!!!', though Lybra knew Fin wouldn't help. He'd be a jerk and stand over there with a grin on his face, watching her do her best to stand still and not writhe around in agony as she waited for the undead Aisha to let go. She stayed still, frozen in her awkward standing position as Aurimn went off to gather some supplies. She gave a tiny nod as Aurimn mentioned leaving, and shuddered uncontrollably once she realized he was out of sight.
I hate you! She yelled, turning and punching Fin in the arm. She growled at him, giving him no further explanation as to what her anger was about. She was sure he knew.
Aww, come on, it was sweet. I think he likes you~
Shut up. She shuddered again, rubbing the sides of her arms as if she were cold. The temperature wasn't a problem, however; her fur was thick and made for cold weather. Eurg... are we following him?
I don't know.
You're no help..Uh... We don't mind breaking another window. She called out, shrugging and glancing to Fin for reassurance. It's how we came in, after all. A bit more glass won't hurt anyone.
Aurimn soon stepped out of the door and beckoned the two of them to follow. Once near, he began to speak to Lybra again. Sorry, for that hug coming from no where. I know I'm dead, I'm probably the last thing anyone would want to touch. He stated I just miss my wife and daughter He added with a sigh, then started leading the two of them down the dingy hallway.
.
Oh, I don't really want you to go through a window Miss Lybra. Aurimn stated looking at her from the corner's of his eyes.
You cut your hands very badly, And I still think you might have glass stuck in your back plates.
Now stopping, he worked at opening a door way. After if finally flung open a burst of cold and snow hit them. There was a nice sized hole located in the wall, just in view from the doorway.. There was no need to get down and crawl through the opening, but it appeared much to thin for a particular tempered person of the group. Taking a deep breath, he walked forward and turned to the side trying to slide though. He managed it, snagging his scarf on the jagged corners.
Bloody h-... He bit at his lip stopping his sentence.
He was now at an awkward position. keeping one hand on his head while the other tried to unsnag his scarf. Being outside sent a shiver up his spine. His neck throbbing from his exposed stitching, figured something like this would happen. He should have stitched himself up while he had the chance.
Getting the clothing free he took a step back allowing Lybra the room to get through. All the while too shocked at the sunshine and outside to put his scarf back on. At least for the moment. Sure he could have gotten out anytime he wanted...He just never did. Outside scared him somewhat, just as much as inside did. But now it didn't seem all that bad. Aurimn actually felt relieved knowing he would be leaving the place behind.
Lybra grabbed Fin by the wrist, leading him to the room where Aurimn had gone. Once there, she glanced around, watching as the Aisha forced open the doorway. I uh.. just don't usually hug.. She said with a forced smile, trying her best to be somewhat polite. She couldn't help but ignore the fact that he'd hit the nail on the head, though. I'll be fine. I've gotten out of worst scrapes then this.. Fin's dragged me on all sorts of missions and whatnot. Not to mention I work with bombs a lot, and you can never tell when one of them will backfire on you.
Happens more often then you'd think. Fin stiffled a chuckle. Shut up.
She turned back to the door to find Aurimn seemingly stuck in it.Oh, wait.. here.. Lybra bent over, doing her best to help him get his scarf untangled from the
opening . She stood up momentarily, giving just enough time to wave a hand at Fin before ducking back down to follow Aurimn out.
Have at it, Fin.
She climbed through the hole and out into the freezing cold, brushing off her holey jeans as she straightened back up.
Hope there's nothing in there you need, I'm sure it'll only take Fin a moment to find something to smash the win-
Almost as if on cue, a small table came crashing out of the nearest window and out into the snow. Not two seconds afterwards, what seemed to be some sort of rusted beam was scraping away the glass shards that still stood in the window. A few jabs later, the single wooden board left tacked over the window was on the ground; obviously no match for the beam's strong blows. Fin jumped up into the window with expertise. Dropping into the snow before grabbing the table he'd thrown and tossing it back inside.
No need for anyone to know we busted out and not in, eh? His ears then perked as he glanced around. Alright, let's get out of here. Someone's bound to have heard the glass breaking, and the police are already after us. We'll have to hold off on our plans until later.
Well obviously. We're not going through with it tonight. I'm not even sure of what's left for the mission. The police probably confiscated all my stuff. Lybra grumbled, grabbing Aurimn by the wrist to lead him towards Fin.
I hope you're up for a jog... Lybra said, giving a strained smile towards the Aisha.
We don't live too far from here, but we need to move fast. I've no idea how far the cops are, or if they've even left the crime scene; if you consider breaking into a condemned building a crime.. we didn't actually DO anything for once.
Trate generously smiled at her, Thanks.. He sighed looking down at the article of clothing before commenting again.
It's okay, If I was in your shoes.. and someone 'dead' hugged me. I wouldn't be too thrilled either. But.. wouldn't you want a hug if you hadn't talked to a human being in a little under eighty years..? Aurimn tried to explain the best he could, but knowing it only could have made it more awkward. However his attention to that subject changed when his ears heard about the bombs.
You've had bombs backfire on you?! Love are you okay atall, I mean you could have gotten hurt, you might still be hurt. Do you have any sudden pains that are unexplainable..Or or.. He was cut short, his head jerking to find the source of the smashing glass.
His head kicked to one side now, like a bad image of someone getting their neck snapped but still standing their alive. Trate now used one hand he pushed his head up so
it stood correctly. This way he was able to watch what he now consider a monster crawl out of the window.
Seriously, why wasn't Fin in that hospital eighty years ago? At least then someone would have deserved the onslaught_ Pausing, he scolded himself for that. It was very uncalled for and downright childish of him. Dr. Aurimn only knew the guy for a few hours. But something about his stance, not to mention the earlier scene, just told the Aisha he was going to detest this man.
Awkwardly standing their he waited again. Listening to them and literally being the third wheel.
Then Lybra grabbed his wrist, He got that wierd tingly feeling up his spine, like he was being hugged or petted. He smiled back at her, his less strained then her's was. More like
a pathetic "I love you" smile cats or dogs get. The Aisha could already hear himself purring, it was the sudden jerk on his arm that stopped his happiness. That sudden pull of leading him pretty much was the last tug his neck could handle. Thus forcing his head off and face planting into the snow.
His lone body pausing and trying to fetch his head frantically, but not quite sure about what to do with Lybra's own hand leading it away.
After a moment muttering odd British phrases, Trate managed to move to one side.. He then proceeded to cough and spit out all the snow in his mouth. However he
could do nothing about it all on his face.
ummm, Lybra?....Lybra! he called. Knowing this was going to end so badly.
Lybra pondered what Aurimn had said for a moment, shrugging it off. I dunno.. I mean.. I guess I'd strive for interaction at that point. There is such a thing as
self control, though. And no, no, I'm fine. I work with hazardous materials all the time. The bombs are the least of my worries.. I'm an expert with them.. most of
the time. You can't always tell if their going to be successful when you're first testing them out. It's the electrical currents and radiation I worry about more, but
I've never been seriously injured from any of it. Lybra continue to follow after Fin, who was scouting ahead to make sure the police hadn't set up a line around the area. They'd have to cut through some alleys to get back through the city and to Fin's place. Lybra's ears perked as she heard her name called, her brain immediately registering the fact that something was terribly wrong.
Here, she had Aurimn by the wrist... however, his voice seemed much more distant then it should have. Lybra grimaced and turned her head slowly, hoping that perhaps it was her ears playing tricks on her. She'd hate to find out that she'd grabbed someone else and left Aurimn standing in the snow.. or WORSE!
WHAT THE- Lybra couldn't even finish her sentence,
immediately dropping her hold on Aurimn's wrist as she stumbled to turn around to identify the crisis
before her. Her turn was sloppy, and her knees buckled from the shock, plopping her down into the snow as she froze in fear.
Fin, too, had caught on that something was wrong. He turned with a growl, obviously ready to shush the two of them, though he was caught off guard just as
Lybra had been, shouting as he jumped in surprise. Oh no, nonono! No, see, we're not doing this, Lybra. Fin nearly stuttered, trying to pull himself together.
YOU wanted to take him home with us. Well do you want him NOW, huh?!
Lybra sat in a terrified trance in the snow, her eyes fixated on the headless body that wobbled in front of her. I.. I-I don't know if I can deal with this. It's. Lybra shook her head, taking a bandaged hand to clasp over her mouth as she shook. What had she gotten herself into? Here was a perfectly acceptable gentleman who just happened to be undead.. and headless.. and completely terrifying without even meaning to.. and now she was stuck with him.
As soon as the hold on his wrist was given free Aurimn's body obediently came to him, pick up his head and wiping the snow off. It was now he was thankful he had brought as much sowing supplies as he could hold.
Carefully he placed his head back on and started working on it, each time he made a new stitch...It hurt. However he had gotten so used to the pain from all the previous times this had happen. More so he was bothered by his two new companions. There was no way he'd get to live with people now, he'd be forced back in that hospital. Or to that lab so they could be 'set for life'.Aurimn kept his back to them, sitting in the snow for a moments time before standing and returning to them. His ears flattened neatly against his head, each word Fin spoke stinging more then the fresh stitching on his neck. He didn't belong out here with them..
Why did he think could? After all he had all the chances to leave before. He didn't because he knew he didn't belong.
Carefully and slowly he kneeled down in front of Lybra, setting his bag and scarf down. All the while keeping his eyes on his own hands.I'm sorry, I should have
fixed that before I got out of the building. but I thought I would be okay.. And I just wanted to..To go outside.
He quietly whispered to her. Not wanting Fin to butt in on the conversation, but knowing well the man would. He sighed heavily, wanting to just cry all over again.
Dr. Aurimn's male ego and dignity had died a long time ago. Thus he often bawled over things: his wife being dead, the fact if his daughter might be alive she'd be eighty years old...Just breaking down because he was alone.
However the Aisha just felt so drained. And so tired of life throwing these horrible situations at him...
I...I need to go back now, don't I?
Lybra watched as Aurimn sewed his head back onto his neck, still trembling lightly. She couldn't be sure if it was from the fear, or the fact that she was sitting in the snow.. or a possible combination of both. She held her position on the ground as he came over to kneel in front of her, her eyes scanning over his neck with slight curiosity, which was more or less hidden under a bundle of fear.I.. I don't know what to say.. it's just a lot to take in. Lybra swallowed heavily.
Eurg!
She threw her hands up over her eyes, rubbing them for a moment before parting her fingers to peer at Aurimn through them. How.. how can you be so pathetic
and yet still be so unbelievably frightening at the same time? I just don't understand.
I.. I don't know what to do. I can't send you back into that hospital. It's disgusting and the cops are going to be investigating the fact that there are two broken windows, now. We got chased into there, chances are they'll be back tomorrow. Lybra glanced back towards the building.
They'll end up finding you, and then you WILL end up in a lab somewhere.. wherever one may be, for I haven't the slightest clue. We'll um.. We'll take you home and.. find someplace for you to go. We live out in the woods.. maybe there's an abandoned shack or something. It'd be nicer then the hospital, at least.. a little more homey.
Lybra got up slowly, brushing off the snow and doing her best to keep her attention from Aurimn. She wasn't sure how much more she could honestly take. He seemed like a nice character, but his circumstances left him almost unbearable at the same time.
Fin, come on, we're moving.
Good, finally.. Fin took a couple of back-steps, eyeing Aurimn suspiciously after his hushed chat with Lybra.
We're leaving the freak, right? I'm not sure I could handle him long enough to get him sol-
He's coming.
What?!
We have to find someplace for him to go. Think of it this way.. the cops are scouting around out here, and they're gunna find out we've been in the hospital.
Imagine if they stumbled upon him.. Lybra chanced a glance in Aurimn's direction.
He could tell all. You don't want that, right?
..Darnit, you're right..
We'll figure something out.
Lybra was almost certain that Aurimn didn't have it in him to actually sell them out; but it was a good excuse to get Fin to work with her without a fight...
--------------------

This was how Dr. Aurimn managed to escape his isolated life style.
The two ended up keeping the doctor for medical purposes. Seeing as before hand Fin could not go to the hospital in fear of being turned in to the police.
Trate stays at the hideout most of the time. Getting to spend more and more time with Lybra.
The Bori now is used to her quest too. No longer finding him disgusting.
Which is fine with the Doctor, he's living a happy life. Living with people, and feeling alive again. Even if he is helping people on the wrong side of the law.

The Crew:
Efiniti: A.K.A. Fin, apparently at one time Fin was a solitary man who worked alone. But found Lybra and just kind of brought her along for her use of making weapons. He has a very nasty temper and seems to be a complete control freak. Much like a spoiled child always wanting his way. A few have called him 'street-smart' but Dr.Aurimn has yet to see any intelligence in this man. Fin lives off of intimidating others other then actually fighting. Scaring them off just so he won't have to. The intimidation works well on the Doctor.
Lybra:Not much is known about Lybra's past, even to herself. Fin just simply found her and brought her into his team of no-gooders. She soon found she has a unhealthy obsession to fire and explosions. Thus making her the weapon and gadget creator of the group. She is also very friendly and out going, which is a miracle seeing as she lives with Fin. Unlike the others, Lybra is very clumsy and stays at the hideout making sure the operations don't go astray. Despite Fin's determination to prove he's in charge, it's Lybra calling all the shots.
Johien: (Yo-Hine) Johien is the group mechanic, dealing with vehicles, generators, and pretty much anything that has a motor in it. He was hired by Lybra for being best in his field. He joins the team for the destruction, and being paid for said destruction. Johien is a very unpredictable short Usul, with an even shorter fuse. Some times the most simplest things make him explode, while other times he just laughs it off. He's also very bold and hyper, loving to be out on the field despite his lack of height. Besides this not much is known about him. He doesn't talk about his past or family.
Othenio:Othenio obviously comes to the team much later. Most of the group refers to him as 'Merry' thanks to Lybra. He was tossed out into the thieving world as a child, around 14 he suspects. He went through various jobs, consisting of a thief, bodyguard, and assassin before 'dying'. He was set up by a former employer, and was thought to have been killed, though he survived the ordeal, which is how he comes to be with Fin and Lybra. Merry is a very strict guy, and doesn't know much about leadership. He prefers to be given orders which he can then carry out to his liking. He pays strict attention to details, and hates being left without something to do.
Safrell: Also known as Elle, this eyrie is pretty much pure business. She is very serious about her work as a thief and never takes a job lightly. Elle is used to working with the big time crime lords, and with highly trained groups. Having came all the way from Europe to pull a large heist for rare gems with a new group. However the group soon abandoned her on spot when they figured themselves caught. Only for it to be the small gang of thieves she's with now. Bluntly put: she's not very impressed with them. But if she wants her revenge on the band that left her for dead, she'll have to tough it out and deal.
Pierrio: Rio is a mercenary for hire, moving on to the next person who offers him more money. He was hired by Elle, who wanted to prove to the group how to locate a real solider in use for the field. Rio is an ex-marine, who dealt mainly in weaponry and Communications. However he is pretty much just the weapon expert of the group...And despite how calculated and cold he is on job, he is a very laid back likable guy. Not much angers this man, for he feels getting angry is just a waste of energy for the most part. He spends most of his time trying to straighten up the crack-pot team...Such as keeping Othenio from attacking Fin just for the fun of it.
Fianisa: Fia is a lounge singer, who lives in the underbelly of the city. Unlike like the others she is not really much of a crew member. She occasionally helps by some information she hears at work, or at home. Surprisingly It was Othenio who got her involved with the group. He managed this by saving her at her work place. Afterwards the kougra began to keep her company. She meets up with the gang, after substaning injuries and wanting Othenio's help. Thus ending up staying with them for a period of time...

Petpet:

Scuttle doesn't really have a epically long story. Some petpets have this, some don't. Scuttle was a present, from Lybra..
Though the intentions of the present were a little cruel.
See when Lybra and Dr. Aurimn first met, She was frightened by him. Though he's not a very frightening person, he is A dead man. A dead man, who lacks social interaction and wanted to be around Lybra for a large amount of time.
The idea was to find Aurimn a place isolated from town to live at. However he pleaded to have her visit him at least. To get around this she started making scuttle.
Unlike all of her other robots, scuttle was only to be programed to be a companion. Something she had never done before. However before she could finish the project, she started to realize how useful he was. Being able to patch up her and Fin without a trip to the hospital. In the end Lybra starts getting attached to physician.
Scuttle was then converted from not only a companion but a nurse. It can flip open its' lid (The upper blue portion) which conceals a metal arm and claw that it can use to hand the doctor things. It also has enough room to hold medical tools. Making it almost like a walking medical carrying bag.

As for the petpetpet, It really serves no purpose. It's lifeless and cannot move on free will.
Chippy' was a computer chip Scuttle found in Lybra's room. To the robot's amusement the digital face on the chip moved and changed.
It was apparently some type of 'emotion' computer chip, that never quite went right so it ended up on the floor.
Trate isn't sure if it's important or not, but it appears as if Lybra doesn't even notice its' absence
The item was called "Chippy", same principle as naming your dog's favorite toy. Ask were the item is by name or mention the item's name and the dog fetches it.
Chippy's face often changes just to match Scuttle face or feelings. It's the only thing it can do.

Love:
Ah Love, this is something Dr. Aurimn knows he must get used to living without.
He doesn't belong in our world and he is well aware of his situation. However he had at one developed feelings for the Bori who helped him out. Even he doesn't know how this happened.
Eventually though what little feelings of that kind withered away once he realized how selfish the woman truly was.
At this point he doubts he'll find anyone.
