About Audacious
Get to know us a bit more
The site was founded on June 26th 2010 by audaciousnaty, aka Nat. Originally, the site used to have 2 reviewers, Nat and her close friend Bree, but after the site had been closed for almost a year, Nat had lost contact and now all that remains is herself. Audacious was not formally introduced until August 7, 2010. The content was all ready to go, but an unexpected trip came up, and the Grand opening was re-scheduled. Then, on November 2010, audacious had closed its doors.. However, it re-opens it doors again one year later. This is [ version 3.0 : Float with us] . Nat is online everyday from 2pm NST to 7pm NST Without a doubt, unless otherwise stated (vacations, no internet access, etc) Which can be found on her userlookup.
In Audacious, we know not every site is perfect, and ours is no exception. We need to know what YOU think, and any comments and suggestions you have to get Audacious closer to being perfect would be great! In a way, it is like you are the ones reviewing our site. Pretty ironic, huh? So feel free to shoot us a neomail with any ideas or comments. Thank you and enjoy!
Rules
Meant to be broken, but NOT in this case.
1. If you were not happy with your review, Please DO NOT spam or send hate mail to the reviewer. It's a bit immature, and if you think you got a low grade, we would be happy to explain our reasons. And besides, you are allowed to her re-reviewed. So you can try again, and get a better score 2.Only send a request when requests are open. If it says closed, please do not neomail us. We will not reply, and you will be ignored. You may neomail again when we go back to open. 3.Your site cannot be brand new or under construction. We will not have enough to judge. Please try to be at least two weeks old before requesting a review. 4.No off-neo sites. This goes for both site and guilds. If your site is an offsite, it will not be reviewed because you are going against TNT rules. Same goes for guilds with off-site webbies. Sorry. 5.No shoes, No Service So I know you read the rules, please include this next to anything else in the form below when applying ;D Ignoring my rules, will cause me to ignore you request, and I may reject to review your site/guild. 6.You can only get re-reviewed one week after your review. You have a maximum of three reviews. In order to get re-reviewed, you must have scored under a 90.
How we review...
This is basically just our rubric. For sites, there is only one type of review, and that is a detailed review. If you would just like us to take a look at your site and give it a score, it will not count as a review. You can ask for a quick glance. For guilds, there are two forms of reviews, a long, detailed review where I will join your guild, or a short review where I will just take a look around.
Quick Glance
A quick glance is basically what it means. You just neomail me asking for a quick glance with a link to your site/guild, and I will look through it, reply ASAP with a few suggestions and how you can make it better. quick glances do not count as reviews, and will not receive a grade or be posted on this site. It is confidential. For Sites
First Look: ?/10 When I first visit your page, is it eye catching? Alluring? Does everything look like its in it place? Is it welcoming? Site Name: ?/5 There are so many great sites out there, but it wouldn't be amusing if they all had the same name, now would it? Here I am basically just taking a look at your site name, what does it mean and how original it is. Layout: ?/15 I would like to put on the record that premade coding WILL NOT get you points taken off. We understand that coding can be hard, but you have to think outside the box and try fixing a premade layout and letting its real beauty shine through. Your layout must also be eye-friendly. I would appreciate it if the colors weren't so bright they burned my eyes..haha. Also I will be grading on color scheme and how well everything matches. (headers, bolds, italics, etc.) Content: ?/20 If I suspect or notice that your content is stolen, I will stop my review and it will be voided. Please be original. If your site has a thee, I would write about it here and how well you may or may not have followed it. You content also has to be clear and easy to understand. Spelling/Grammar: ?/10 This is just basic second grade stuff, right guys? With all this technology now a days, this should be an easy 10 points. If you had made any spelling or grammar errors, I will point it out here. Sitely: ?/10 It is up to you to get your site out there! Here I will review your link backs, affiliates, and number of directories in which you are listed in. As well as awards. Quality/Originality: ?/10 This just speaks for itself. Originality is something you just have, so work it! Put those fresh, out-of-the-box ideas into action! Organization: ?/10 If anything is out of its place or if I feel like it would be better somewhere else, I will state it here. Also if I feel something just doesn't belong, I will also state it here. Brownie Points: ?/5 Here I will just write my favorite thing about the site. What really stood out to me. I might also mention one of your ideas that I think was brilliant. Some sites might not get brownie points...that's too bad, everyone could use a little sugar!
For Guilds
Long Review
We will join your guild, undercover of course ;D
First Look: ?/10 Does you site look organized, do you have nice graphics. Is it alluring? Guild Name: ?/5 Is your name original? Do other guilds have the same name? How well does it represent your guild... Layout: ?/10 Premade coding will not decrease you points, not everyone one can code, and we understand that ;D But you can always fix up premades with you own style, Like a good graphic. Are the colors soft on the eyes, and wont burn them off. Is everyone organized, and the coding isn't all over the place. Webbie: ?/20 Everyone guild should have a webbie. You can't fit all the information about your guild into the tiny description on your guild homepage. You don't have to call it a webbie, but there must be somewhere where we can read about your guild. Petpages: ?/10 Are all your guild pages constantly updated? Are they clean and organized, and easy to find?
Organization: ?/5 Is everything easy to find? Do all your links work? Is everything under the topic it belongs? Do you have any overlapping text/images? Updates: ?/5 Do you have updates, if so, how many times do you update. Do you have updates that are over a month? Spelling/Grammar: ?/5 Did you misspell a few things, maybe a lot of things? Do you have bad grammar? If you do, we will include the ones we found in the review ;D Activeness: ?/15 Are the members in your guild active. Are they friendly and welcoming, or are your chat boards quiet and boring??? Quality/Originality: ?/10 Are you ideas original? What makes your guild different?

The Reviewer
Nat: I am a pretty tough reviewer. I will be harsh, and very picky, but i will also point out all the positives, and will nicely tell you what you need to work on and give you a few tips. I review both sites and guilds. When it comes to guilds, I will go in dis-guise as a new member, and critique you based on the Guild Rating Rubric. I will not be using the account audaciousnaty, but another one, so beware.

Guild Reviews
lets see what you got!
Here, you will find all the guilds we have reviewed. You can find there score at the bottom, and all Icons link back to the guild/webbie.
Spirit River Wolf Pack
First Look: 7/10 The guild front page needs a little work. I really do not see what is the image, and it is a bit blury. It is also a bit plain, but everything looks like it is in it's place.
Guild Name: 3/5 Good guild name, and a nice slogan! we are many, we are one. It shows that your guild is friendly and inviting!
Layout: 8/10 You seem to have the same color scheme for both you guild and webbie page! I love things that match! But you color scheme for the guild is not very good. It is a bit hard to see the text when we are chatting. Maybe go for a light more tranquil blue...
Webbie: 19/20 Very well organized webbie! Everything was easy to find and everything seems to be in its place!
Petpages: 13/15 Organized and neat! But some need a little help in the graphics section. I would also recommend adding a portal to make it easier to navigate :)
Organization: 4/5 The images on some pages were a bit too big. But everything else seemed to be in it place and organized
Updates: 5/5 Great updates! And I love that you have a word of the day! It seems really fun ;D
Spelling/Grammar: 5/5 No bad grammar or spelling! The owner and the members are all very literate!
Activeness: 10/15 The guild owner was one once I joined, and she neomailed me immidiately. She was very polite, and told me what I should do as soon as I joined the guild! She also responded quickly on the chat board, and was very friendly and fun! And soon after, another member showed up! Everyone was really fun, somewhat random, and very welcoming!
Quality/Originality: 10/10 Very original ideas. I love your song! And the ranking seem to match you guild theme very well!

ACE'S AVATAR LENDING PAGE
Reviewed by BREE - August 07, 2010
First Look: 9/10 It looks well-organized, complete, and has a simple style to the layout. However, the lack of color makes my mind wander, and a wandering mind clicks other links...
Site Name: 2/5 Your only downfall; the name. It is very unoriginal, but at least it makes sense...it's your name.(:
Layout: 8/10 Let me explain your score; 1 point was deducted for the low-quality banner. The other point was lost for lack of color. My suggestion? DON'T CHANGE THE CSS. I love, love, love it! Just get a more colorful, high quality banner, with a matching color scheme. You can even keep the background!
Content: 20/20 Very complete set of avatar pets! I love how everything is detailed. It shows you took time, and are dedicated. Thumb up, my friend!
Organization: 19/20 I just think the "Pending Applicant" section should be at the top of the page. Other than that? LOVELY job! :*
Updates: 5/5 Hard to provide updates, but the list of lends & dates was enough for me!
Spelling/Grammar: 5/5 No misspellings or grammatical errors. Very appeasing ;D
Sitely: 5/5 Fair amount of affies (I ADORE THE DETAIL), AND you're listed at Soroptimist? Way to go!(:
Quality/Originality: 20/20 Again, very complete set of pets! I've never seen a site like it! I absolutely love the originality or the content, and layout! Keep it up!!
Total Score: 93/100

Mystique

Reviewed by Naty - August 10, 2010 - Reviewed in FireFox
First Look: 10/10 You definitely used a premade layout to it's highest potential. The color scheme is easy on the eyes, and the graphic is nice and no to showy ;D
Site Name: 4/5 Mystique - A nice name, which comes from the french word of Mystical. Somewhat unique, and does apply to a review site ;D
Layout: 13.5/15 Great Layout! As I said before, the color scheme is amazing! But the color you chose for the link is a bit light, maybe make it a little bit darker. I also do not like where the link back is, and it takes quiet a bit of space. Try adding it to the side bar and into a scroll box :)
Content: 15/20 You are rather new, so your site content will eventually go up. But are heading on the right path! You have a good amount of link backs, listers and affies. And I love that you set your goals! Your rubric is very well organized as well.
Updates: 8/10 I only saw one update for 8/8/10 and no more. I recommend you leave some of you old updates, so people know what has been going on. But I LOVE that both of you update together.
Spelling/Grammar: 10/10 I couldn't find any spelling/ grammar mistakes. I did see a lot of smileys, but I like to use them too, it adds a friendlier and more fun tone to a review :D
Sitely: 8/10 Pretty good amount of affies and listers, as well as a good variety of link backs. I would only recommend that you add a bit of the background behind you site name.
Quality/Originality: 9/10 A good quality site, with two friends using great teamwork. A well organized and easy to understand rubric!
Organization: 8/10 Most things are in there place, but it could use a touch of more organization. Try moving both the portfolio, goals and the linkbacks to the side bar. But I do not recommend you remove your reviews after a while, seeing as how other people might want to look back at them.

At a Glance:
I see your lively banner and how your background matches it wonderfully. You have a nice little welcome message as well. I also notice your navigation, which fits nicely under the banner. Defining audacious was a good idea. Just about full points! Good job.
Layout:
Your layout is very nice. Again, I like the banner and it's a good size, though a bit on the large side. The navigation works and things are ordered logistically. And I quite like hover effects, but the blue seems out of place. As far as I can see, that shade only shows up on the petpet in the top left of the banner. Perhaps a slightly lighter shade. And if it's possible to center the navigation, I'd try that as well. Lastly, your bigger headers have nice colors, but they don't look very smooth to me (they don't go together). I suggest having one or the other; having one color that's in between the two; making the lighter one a tad darker; making the darker one a tad lighter; or both of the last two suggestions, but change them less. Or you could always just leave it and ignore me. (I don't really care.)
Content:
Again, your home page content looks in order. But in paragraph one it goes: "...review site, Audacious Reviews run and maintained..." The "Audacious Reviews" is in a sort of aquamarine, and is a bit hard on the eyes. (I saw the same thing a lot later on in the site. To find, just click preview and go around your site looking; I'm not going to list them all here.) In the second paragraph of About Audacious, try starting with "Here at Audacious..." not In Audacious. And maybe have "Staff (Reviewers)" not Staff/Reviewers because they're the same thing.
Your actually rules seem good and reasonable, though I think you could manage with just one key word. Also, with rule #1, you have a space after one, before the words, (1. rule) but not with the others (2.rule). Keep things consistent. I don't think you need the "Must Read the Rules" button though. I suggest moving the waiting list under "Request a Review" in the Get Reviewed section.
Speaking of which, is beautifully organized. But take a closer look (in a preview) at the long review criteria (both). Both could use some editing. (Not the content of it, the look of it; lack of bold titles, titles in the middle of things...)
For reviewing guilds, +1 point! But your guild review is not labeled with a date. Plus the icon has a blue border, that hides upon being hovered, which should be removed. In the actual reviews, it's good to have the sections (ex: Sitely, Content...) in bold to help separate/organize things, but that needs to be done for the guild reviews too.
Your reviews in general though, are only ok. Mine (especially this one) are a bit lengthy, I know, but yours, for each category you have about 5 sentences max. I mean, they're fine; you get your ideas across, and you give great suggestions. But try to go a little more in-depth, beyond what is obvious. Lastly with the reviews, when you mention the review info (date, reviewer, ect.), include the type of review (long/short). I like the way you have organized the reviews though, with the buttons linking to an individual review. Very clever! When that page gets cramped and too long, try have a portfolio on a different petpage. You keep them, but also clear some space on the actual site.
I love your Audacious Sites part. It's a very creative idea and I love how you don't just call it a Hall of Fame.
Your awards are great; high-quality and somewhat match your theme (which I can't describe, I just know it's there). It's very kind of you to have options on that and even allow some requesters custom awards! I especially like the last two.
Sitely:
(This'll go quick as I talked so much on content.) I like how you have it all organized in just one box; it's very neat and tidy. You have plenty of affies and listers. (Although more wouldn't hurt.) You last lister has a blue border that should be removed. Your buttons are good, I like how you made some of them. Your credits look rather messy. Try just having them like a list and separate each piece of credit. It'll look neater.
Revisit?/Final Say:
I'd come back if I wanted a brief review to give me some basic ideas. But not for a long, detailed one. Sorry. The main thing that dragged you down was lack of consistantly, which I (overly) talked about under Content. And despite all that, Audacious is still a good site.

Store Design: 34/40 Well, when I entered your site, I already thought of one word to describe the layout: bright. The background has some soft and light colors, but the pattern is just a bit too much. You don't technically have to change it, but it's an option. Your banner is lovely, but the colors are too overwhelming. I know its summer, but I think that you're sort of overdoing it. Also, your banner has tons of colors on the images, and that would be kind of hard to incorporate into your layout. You'd need to use green, yellow, orange, blue, pink, purple, and some white. Now, you can only have so much to put all of those colors. Maybe you could make a different banner with the same format that your current banner is already in, but with calmer colors? For one, you could use some red, orange, yellow, brown, black, and other fall colors, since it's just around the corner? Also, your header twos are too small. I can hardly read what it says. Maybe you could go and resize them to make just a little bigger?
Products: 36/40 Well, your reviews are very detailed, but you haven't done an awful lot. I read in your updates that you're pretty busy, but maybe you guys can just try and finish one more review? I also noticed you don't have a lot of guild reviews. Maybe you can advertise on the guild chat if you have spare time? It's pretty busy over there, and there are tons of new guilds that want someone's opinion on them. Also, I love the small section where you describe how both of you guys review. It will give the visitor a choice on whether they want a harsh review or a soft review. I also noticed that you have an under construction section; I recommend that when you finish reviewing all the sites on your waiting list, you should finish that section. That would be pretty cool. The Hall of Fame is cool, and I like the fact that it's exclusive for only sites that you guys have reviewed. That way it'll be easier to rank the sites. Finally, I love the fact how you guys have all sorts of awards so visitors can have a wider variety.
Spelling/Grammar: 7/10 Your introduction isn't very long, but you have several sections on the process of starting the start. I love that. In your introduction, neopets is supposed to be capitalized. In the About Audacious section, now is supposed to be know. In your updates, Elle's help guide is supposed to be capitalized, Angels is supposed to be Angel's, and Ace's avatar lending agency should be capitalized. In your rules, her should be get. In your guild reviews, "what is the image" should be "what the image is" and blury should be blurry. In your credits, naty and meepits are love should be capitalized. That's it!
Customer Service: 5/10 Your last update was today, and it explains why you were inactive for two days. Also, I like that you have the sitely information in a nice little sidebar next to the main bar, and wherever you click on the navigation, it's always displayed right next to it! Although, there are some downsides to having the sitely section in a sidebar next to the main bar. For one, your affiliates and listers are packed tightly in a small scrollbar. It makes it almost impossible to see all that's in the scrollbar, and it's just way too tight. Maybe you could resize it, like the size of the scrollbar of your link back buttons? I also love the fact that you link the reviews that you've gotten to a certain area of your site where you display the actual review. That means that you guys can go back to read the review whenever you want and see what you need to improve. Your site name is also nice; I never knew Audacious was a word before I heard of your site. It's original, and it describes your review site perfectly.
Bonus Points: +7 I love how you're so organized, but the bright color scheme and some of your sitely section brought it down.
