It would seem once again the Lady of the Forest has led you astray. Above your head you see the white blossoms hidden within leaves have become more abundant, and on the ground the flowers seem more beautiful than before.

Mumbles of soft music trail off from the distance and the flowers at your feet sway back and forth in time, beckoning you towards the faint melody. Though you are weary, the soft breathing of the forest reassures you that the flowers are no couriers of misfortune.

The dense foliage breaks and the soothing notes of a harp gently kiss the air. A stone paved garden surrounded by flower bushes comes into sight. Within it sits a very well dressed young lady, presumably waiting for tea time.

Suddenly the teapot on the table rattles excitedly and from it emerges a Snowbunny, ears alert, and tuned right in your direction. The girl turns her head and spots you, looking directly into your eyes. Her smile widens, and she calls you, a complete stranger, over to join her.

Hey over there! The girl gets up and waves excitedly in your direction.

Yes, you! Stop looking around, there's no one else out there, silly. You look like you need a bit of a rest, would you care to join us for some tea? Kessa must have sent you over. Really it's no trouble, come join us!

guest climbs through the dense flower bushes and joins her at the table. The snowbunny slinks back furtively into the teapot, eying them cautiously.

Oh Jenga, don't be so shy, gingerly petting the bunny between the ears. If Kessa guided them here then they must be perfectly harmless. Sorry about her, directing her attention back to guest, she doesn't do well around strangers. My name is Princess Valinsa of Brightvale, but no formalities required, love! You may simply call me Val! Pleasure to make your acquaintance...?

She holds out her hand daintily and smiles inquisitively.

guest, you take her hand and greet her as you will.

Well, guest, please make yourself at home! Granted this isn't my castle, it belongs to Princess Altalena. Unfortunately she's out at the moment and I'm doing a bit of castle sitting, if you will, so while you're here allow me to attend to you in her place. Oh here comes Raggles here with the tea!

Her attention wavers for a moment to the steps of the castle, and a stout plushie scorchio appears with a tray of assorted pastries and teas.

Appearance: Valinsa has no distinctive markings, her coat is completely solid, except for her ear fluffs which are white/light purple depending on the season. She makes her individual statements through her clothes and hairstyles which often change more than once a day.
Personality: Friendly and personable, Val is hard to dislike. Though she loves fluttering about like the social butterfly she is, she tends to get lost in her thoughts often. Some wrongly mistake her as airheaded for this.

Character Overview: Being a princess of Brightvale, it's no surprise that she values knowledge above many things. However this doesn't mean she shuns the value of material possessions as well. While she loves learning new things and sharing her knowledge, she also adores wearing beautiful dresses and looking her best. She doesn't do this to appease anyone, she simply likes looking and feeling her best in both body and mind.

When she's not up in her chambers with her nose in a book, she can be found out in the market place shopping for accessories made by her people. She also likes collecting unique pieces from around the world.

Valinsa wasn't all sunshine and smiles when she was a child. Her desire for knowledge started young, which was of course encouraged due to her heritage. However her intelligence often intimidated her peers they did not understand (nor care about) what she had to say, and they thought she was weird. She was excluded from many social gatherings because she would say disparaging things unknowingly and that of course, was off-putting. The other children eventually agreed that she was snobby and ganged up on her, eventually bulling her into submission.

She couldn't understand why other children didn't like her. She was proud of her intelligence, and she didn't realize she was belittling others by flaunting it around. She grew defensive and distant because of how she was treated, insisting she stay guarded so no one would ever hurt her. She spent much of the first 10 years of her life alone, or among the company of those who were specifically asked to be kind to her. To keep herself entertained, she'd often play dress-up with her many dolls, or sit alone up in the highest tower overlooking the city and read.

It wasn't until Valinsa met Princess Altalena that her outlook towards others - and herself - changed. Alta was understanding and saw past all the barriers she had formed over all those years of solitude. Alta was the first person to call her out on her rather obnoxious flaw; it was the first time anyone was truly honest with her. She was only a few years older than Val, but she taught her many things about society, things she couldn't have learned through the books she befriended in her years alone.

The transformation from child to teenager was extraordinary, and she quickly learned the charismatic skills she needed as a princess. She made an attempt to befriend all of those who shunned her and all of those she met along the way. And though she may not have befriended everyone, she certainly made it difficult for anyone to dislike her as a person.

I'll be honest when I say that I completely revised Val's character after really considering it. Who I created wasn't what I really envisioned in my head after considering many parts of my story.

She was originally just a very typical girly-girl princess type. While I think I still kept that in essence (because I did love it), I think her background plays a really important role as to who she is and how she acts. I relate very much with her background because that's essentially how I was as a child.

Truthfully the original character I had in mind was vapid and shallow and just a shadow of something I thought would be fun. But I realized I wasn't living up to what all of my other characters stand for. All of my pets on Neopets - all of their characters that is - hold a very special place in my heart because they all represent who I was, who I am, or who I want to grow to be. This new character I created for Valinsa is essentially all of those things. Granted it's an exaggerated representation (as all my pets are), but it's still in essence... who I consider myself to be; past, present, and hopefully future.

I feel like it's a totally embarrassing aspiration to become a personable and totally charming young lady, but hey there you go. I'm pretty shy in real life, and I often wish I could just mesmerize people with mere words. And as much as I hate to say it, this may be why Val's character comes off as lacking? To me anyway, because I don't know how to be that person yet. Who knows, maybe I can learn vicariously by further developing Val? *dreams*

Jenga continues to stare at you with narrow eyes from within the open teapot.

Personality: Like many bunnies, Jenga is a bit timid. It took awhile to win her trust. However once Val won her over, she became a bouncing blur of joy. When she and Val are alone, her bell can be heard echoing throughout the castle. Her original name was Jingles, before she accidently toppled over a cabinet with her excited romping. Her loyalty to Val is unmatched by anyone.

History: The snowbunny was a gift from Princess Altalena after she and Val had become friends. Altalena knew early on that when they were apart, Valinsa would be lonely; it would be a long while before Valinsa would be confident enough to make other friends. So in her absence, Altalena gave her one whom she knew was just as lonely. Jenga was found by the Altadorian forest spirit, Kessa, quivering beneath a willow tree, frightened and alone. She entrusted Altalena to find it a suitable home, and so Altalena entrusted her to Val. It was a perfect match really.

This is the summary! For convenience, I've summarized her general outline here. My entire story line is fairly large, and I'm still drafting out parts for my other characters. The summary will include more than just her story.

I suppose that she's best described as an introduction to my entire story line that I've worked and developed on and off Neo for the past 5-6 years. I've changed and reconstructed the story dozens of times and very little of it is represented on the site in the same way that I have it in my head. It's almost as though I'm trying to write out a book when all I can get is a few paragraphs. I don't consider myself a writer really, I'm much more of an illustrator I'd say, but I do enjoy trying to bring my characters to life with words, and I've been trying harder to do so recently. c:

If there is one thing that I can promise you above all else, is that Valinsa will never leave my possession if I am chosen to adopt her. I know that it is very hard to take anyone's word of this over the internet, but I believe that my existing pets are all proof of the commitments I make when choosing to apply for a pet.

Raggles was adopted back in 2006, and he has remained with me since. The majority of my pets were adopted as well, and honestly the list has gotten long. All of my pet's lookups will tell you how I obtained them and when. Besides a few lab rats and the like, these are all the pets I have ever owned.

• be given a petlookup, and this layout made into a proper petpage.
• be tied into the story lines of my existing pets, specifically that of Altalena and Reniok.
• have a closet that continues to grow!

Here are some customizations I was playing with! Nearly all of these items are reasonably obtainable, besides the Blooming Garden in the first, so they aren't crazy, never-going-to-have goals.

The only thing I can't really promise is that I'll enter her in the Beauty Contest because I've sort of grown out of it? I know it's typical of applicants, and she might be entered once or twice if I have the time, but I really hate having to spam for votes to even get a placement. Alternatively, I will enter an acceptable Royalgirl Lupe to the art gallery instead! c:

My dress! Oh I'm so glad you like it! This one here was actually custom made by Raggles himself! He's such a fine tailor, as one would expect from such an expert craftsman! In fact he's made many of my dresses, and I've commissioned even more, they're just fabulous.

Because a princess should never be seen in the same outfit twice, I've set up a little preview of Val's closet!

If Val comes to stay with me, Raggles will finish all of those commissioned dresses she was talking about! And I'll be attempting to make a flash dressup game eventually! c: It'll be super fun.

Now only her human form is available at the moment. I didn't want to over commit should I not be chosen to adopt her. I will probably end up using the bases for another future character of mine if that happens, so an anthro will be added if she gets to come home with me. c:

Let me just get this out of the way immediately: I am applying for Valinsa because she is Unconverted. Who isn't really? Unconverted Royalgirls are honestly my favorite pets on this site - even before the conversions, I painted Altalena myself. The trouble is, they're so hard to trade up for now. :c

Now I love Unconverted art in general for many reasons, but the main reason is that in my early days as an artist, it was what inspired me to improve my art. I daresay I grew up on Neopets, and it was one of many reasons I chose to become an artist. Unconverted pets give me a very sweet sense of nostalgia.

Though I admit some converted pets are cute, they lack the personality that was drawn into individual colors back then. While I've come to accept the whole customization thing, I still did not choose it. When that site poll came around asking if we wanted to be able to be able to dress our pets, for the record, I said no.

If you ask anyone who knows me well, you'll hear that Lupes are not exactly my favorite species; with the single exception being that of the Unconverted Royalgirl Lupe. Actually, I had begun applying for one in the past, Charmme, but I unfortunately didn't have the time to continue applying because, as I'm sure you can understand, real life always comes first. Despite Val's own application process ending during my finals week, I really didn't want to let another chance at a dream pet pass me by. Thankfully it didn't interfere at all! C:! Also I want to mention this application (for Valinsa) is all completely new content.

Well hey, my name is Nicole, but most people on the interwebs know me as Nikki. I'm 21 and I'm a part-time student studying Graphic Design in New York City. When I'm not on Neo, I spend most of my free time hidden in my room drawing and playing other video games. c:

While most of my time on Neo is spent drawing and working on further developing my pets - I'm sort of in the middle of a revamp/updating of characters - I do of course enjoy other aspects of the site. I try to participate in plots and competitions like the Art Gallery, and occasionally the Beauty Contest (with my guild). I consider myself to be a PCer, though I really only lurk these days. I also occasionally buy NC, so I've invested more than just my time onto this site.

I started playing back in December 1999, so well over a decade of my life has been dedicated to this site. My first account was hacked when I was about 12 or 13 due to my poor internet security skills. Needless to say, such a thing hasn't happened since. I have received a few very spaced out warnings since then, for rather silly reasons (the last one was literally for saying, verbatim: earthquakes happen everyday) but never a suspension or freezing. With what I have to lose now, I take extreme caution with all aspects of my accounts.

Of the 14 unconverted pets I own - all of which are permies - only five of which were adopted through the traditional application process. Another five were given to me by friends or strangers without a formal application. The remaining four were either created by me or traded for.

I need to say this: I am not a serial pet applicant. The pets I applied for, Raggles, Reniok, Vaidao, Lezsli and Kseh, were adopted mostly a year or so apart. I do not apply for a pet unless a character comes to mind that I am passionate about and I'm not one of those people who makes an app for every unconverted pet they see. Besides those 5 pets, I had only finished an application for one other pet since 2006.
