The Apptionary is run by Alix, who works closely with Eliza to provide the best Apptionary possible. The Apptionary was originally run by its founder, Claws, who realized after while that she no longer had time for it. She was one of those zap-and-gifters who frequent the PC. Too often, though, she had transferred pets to people who claim that she have their "dream pet", and later she found the pet rotting on some account. She found that frustrating. She used "dreamie lists" to find new owners in the past, and then she thought... how about a dream pet list with some proof that this really is there dream pet? Just a smidgen of dedication.
And so the idea of the Apptionary was birthed.
Eliza had applied for a few pets using pet applications, and knew many people who did, as well. She had always thought that something was wrong with the current system. How could people spend so long working on pet applications, just to throw them out when they typically were not accepted? It seemed to her wrong, unjust. Then she heard about The Apptionary. She loved the idea, and wanted to do whatever she could to help it flourish.
Alix had been closely associated with Apptionary when Eliza took over the page, being second on council in the guild and head advertiser. She was also a member of ZYDP, a page dedicated to zapping and gifting peoples' dream pets. Being so dedicated to helping people achieve their dream pets, she offered to take over the page from Eliza until further notice.
So here we are today.

1. Do not submit anything that isn't yours. You will be blacklisted.
2. To add, remove, replace, or do anything else related to an app, neomail Alix. You MUST neomail from the account that the app is on, OR from an account that specifies that another account belongs to you.
3. When you have successfully adopted a pet, please contact us so that we can remove your app!
4. If your main account is inactive for over 21 days, and you have not contacted me about a reason for the inactivity, we have the right to remove your application.
5. IF you are submitting an application that was previously used for a particular pet (as in, that pet's new owner has already been chosen), you must replace that pet's name in your application. This is to protect that pet's owner from harassment. Nicknames used in the app are okay. ('Wolfy' for xxWolfy621xx)
6. To list an application with Apptionary, you need to save your coding in a location different than the place where you have it on display. A text document on your computer is a great place. Try to keep it up-to-date. You would be amazed how many people accidentally lose their coding and all their hard work. In addition, it is a lot of work for me to keep adding and removing applications thanks to lost coding. So, SAVE YOUR CODING!
Won't listing our apps here make them easy targets for art/story/other thieves?
A list of apps would not be any more vulnerable to theft than a petpage directory, an art page, or any other already existing page with original content.
Admittedly, your privacy as an applicant would be compromised, and this choice would be entirely yours to make. On the flip side, since your content will be exposed to much more viewers, anyone plagiarizing your stuff would be quickly identified.
Alright, if someone's dreamie happens to be a Camouflage Techo, I guess this would work. But no one's going to look here for a home for their UC Faerie Quiggle.
YOU NEVER KNOW! I'm not going to limit which species/colors can be listed here. Hope for the best and expect nothing; that's my motto. And for the record, a dream pet of mine was a Camo Techo once.
Can I submit neomail / gallery dedications / other forms of apps?
Certainly! As long as we can link to it.
How about incomplete apps?
We will accept apps that show that you've made your point about the pet, but may still need touching up; like, you haven't included pics yet, or coding needs to be fixed, etc.
Am I allowed to submit an app that I'm currently using to apply for a specific pet with?
Yes, but do consider if this will impact your chances with that pet. Some fosters may not like that you are / intend on reusing an app.

Character Idea: The general conception of (name here) was that she was a bit strange. Oh, she was nice enough, in fact, nicer than most, but she acted...different. She claimed to come from a surreal land of giant gingerbread houses and gumdrop-lined peppermint lanes. Everything was edible there, according to her, even the people! No matter how convinced she was that not only a world like this existed, but that she came from it, no one believed her. After all, she was in the real world, boring old Neopia, and while there were chocolate pets, they certainly weren't edible! Despite being in Neopia, she acted like she was in another world, which made many people question her sanity. (But what they didn't know was that she was RIGHT, and she could even take them to this special candy land world through a portal that could only be accessed by those who had been there before…)

App: Hi there, and this is my application for one of my top dream pets, a royalboy Uni. My name is Eliza. I run a lot of sites, which are all linked to on my lookup, and can tell you a lot about me. The reason I would like a royalboy Uni is because I think their look has such great potential for amazing characters. One of my ideas is to change the Uni's gender (because I think it's so rare/interesting to find, say, a female royalboy, or vice versa) and have the character be a girl in disguise, perhaps pretending to be a prince or something. Leaving him a boy, however, still leaves plenty of inspiration, though, too.
I am very serious about Neopets, and have been playing for about ten years. (Not on this account, obviously. ^.^) I get very attached to the pets I am keeping, making characters for them and customizing them. It was a day, at first appearances, like almost any other. A traveler came walking into the woods, and was a few miles in, when Treeden flew up to Sair, who was napping in the crook of a tree, and conveyed to him by a great deal of wiggling about, that something had occurred. Sair got up sleepily, stretched and yawned, and then followed Treeden on wing to where they could silently watch the newcomer from above. The trespasser was a Darigan Shoyru, and a boy not too far from Sair's age. Where Sair was slight, the Shoyru was stocky, with big bones that would someday turn out to make him quite fearsome, and pudgy flesh that would someday turn into enviable muscle. On this grumpy-looking boy's shoulder was a pirate Faellie, looking well-taught by his master. Sair grinned and flicked his large, slanted eyes toward his Carmariller, and then dropped noiselessly to the leafy ground behind the Shoyru. Though the pet heard nothing, his petpet, with its large, tattered gray ears, did, and whirled around to look at Sair, and began tugging on his master. Sair thought better of stomping on the spiked tail with his bare foot, which had been his original plan, and instead gave one of his bat-like wings a painful tug. He had moved so quickly, after this, that his victim's red eyes had to sweep the sky to find him. The Darigan Shoyru's scowl deepened, and, if possible, his lower teeth stuck out even farther over his upper lip, and launched himself into the air after the dainty Xweetok with a vengeance.
The pirate Faellie could not catch up with Treeden, with his tiny wings and furry, heavy body, and fared better by clinging to his master's shoulder and swiping his tiny wooden sword at the Carmariller when he came close enough, screaming in unintelligible Faellie anger. The Shoyru, however, was a powerful flier, whose heavy wingbeats could easily catch him up to Sair, whose filmy wings could not push the air as forcefully. But the Xweetok was elated. He did not often get to indulge in a high-spirited chase through the trees, since often the visitors to the woods could not or would not fly. He knew these woods, and the Shoyru did not, and though he would have been overtaken in open air, he had the advantage in the close foliage of the forest. After looping back and ducking behind this tree or that, he soon lost him. Sair was almost disappointed that it was over so soon, and that his enemy had used none of his lung power in threatening as they usually did. When the sounds of the big body crashing through branches had faded away, and he was sure he had gone, the Xweetok came out from hiding.
«Hey, have you seen Glow today?» he asked his petpet suddenly, having not seen the lightmite all day. But Treeden merely looked at him with shiny black eyes, and twitched one his his lop-eared-bunny ears. «Aww, you didn't eat him, did you?!» he exclaimed, growing more anxious. When the blue Carmariller's stoic response did not vary, Sair scooped his petpet onto his arm and jumped lightly into the air to begin his search for the little petpetpet. What alerted him to Glow's whereabouts was a high-pitched voice, though it did not belong to the lightmite.
«Aww, c'mere little guy, I won't hurt you,» the feminine mystery voice crooned. Sair crept closer and peered through his long dark-green bangs at a girl in the crook of a tree, almost as high up as he was. She was a Christmas Pteri, dressed in frilly, civilized clothing, and her milk chocolate brown feathers were smooth and glossy. Her cheeks were pink under her dark eyes, and she was speaking gently to a glowing lightmite who hung, suspended in the air, just out of the reach of her wingtips. Glow! Treeden started forward, but the faerie Xweetok held him back, watching to see what the girl would do. The lightmite slowly moved forward, coming to rest like a soap bubble on the white undersides of the Pteri's wingtips. A delighted giggle escaped her beak, and when her arm shook, Glow rose into the air again, but came to hover in front of her face. The faint light the petpetpet cast in the daytime slightly brightened the explorer's face.
Jealousy flamed in Sair's chest. He had thought that he was the only person that the always-shy Glow would approach. He prepared to jump out from his hiding place and frighten the girl, when all of the sudden, the Darigan Shoyru appeared, dropping heavily onto the branch with the Pteri on it. The girl screamed, and then cupped the delicate petpetpet in her hands to protect him from the scary looking newcomer. The mean boy grinned cruelly at her. «Watcha' got there?» He taunted.
«That's none of your business," she retorted, primly, and turned up her beak at him.
«Eyepatch, go fetch that for me,» the Shoyru instructed his Faellie, who immediately began climbing down from his shoulder.
«You have no manners,» trilled the Pteri, not understanding who «Eyepatch»was, and feeling afraid.
«I'm sorry,» the boy snickered. «I'm Lars, and this is Eyepatch, my petpet.» He bowed mockingly at the waist towards her.
She saw the frowning petpet marching towards her, and she smiled at it. «Hi, Eyepatch, you're awfully cute." But this was the wrong thing to say, and with a snarl, he drew his little toothpick sword, and poked the girl in the ankle with it.
«Ouch!» She exclaimed, and her hands fell away from the frightened lightmite, who quickly flew up into the protection of the leaves above. The girl was glad to see that the petpetpet had escaped, but she was still feared the bully on her own account.
«Hey! You let it get away!» Lars bellowed, and walked forward and gave her a shove.
The girl sprang to her feet, being careful not to step on the badly-taught Faellie, who was still growling at her shoe. «My name is Violet, not 'hey, you,' and didn't anyone ever teach you not to push girls?» she yelled at him, tears of anger and hurt welling in her eyes.
«Who's gonna' stop me?» The bully taunted, and pushed her shoulders again. This time, she nearly lost her balance, and fell and wrapped her wings around the big tree branch for support. She shut her eyes tightly and cried softly, clearly not able to keep up the tough act for long.
Sair watched all of this in shock, and he felt a sharp flash of shame inside himself, as he realized that this was much the way that he usually treated people. He felt this, even though he didn't realize that his own bullying of Lars had perhaps made the Shoyru eager to pick on somebody else. Even with his petpetpet now safe, he couldn't merely stand by and watch a girl cry, even though the Xweetok wasn't very gallant as a rule.
«Hey, how 'bout you pick on someone your own size?» Sair called, stepping out from behind the tree, fists on his hips. Treeden hovered over his head.
When Lars saw the faerie pet, he bowed his head in anger, pointing his mohawk spikes at him. Sair grinned impishly, glad for the challenge. The Pteri had sat up at the introduction of this new voice, and she looked at him, hovering in mid-air, with all the wonder of a heroine in distress about to be rescued. Now, Lars turned toward her and gave her a final shove, which knocked her completely off of the tree branch. Eyepatch had jumped clear just in time.
With a shout of anger at being defied, the tiny Xweetok threw himself on the Shoyru. This was perhaps not the best move, as it left Violet free-falling. Of course she had wings which she quickly employed, but not before knocking into a couple of branches. She beat her wings and hovered, watching Lars and Sair grappling in the air. Treeden moved to go to the aid of his owner, but the bigger, armed Faellie stopped him. Treeden was not as fast as his owner, and could not fly free of Eyepatch after he had been grabbed by him. Seeing him losing, the Pteri flew forward and pulled the pirate Faellie back by his tail. «Play nice, Eyepatch,» she scolded him, and took his tiny wooden sword, broke it in half, and dropped it. Treeden landed on her shoulder and they had a good laugh about it while Eyepatch flailed uselessly.
Meanwhile, Sair was getting the worse of the fight, having given up his greater advantage of hiding by attacking the larger Shoyru head-on. Violet went to a tree branch and made Eyepatch sit on her knee, patting his head condescendingly. She watched the boys with concerned eyes, but Treeden, now relieved of his combatant, fluttered toward the whirling blur of dark purple, cream, and pale blue, that were the two trouble-makers. He waited for his chance, and then bit the end of Lars' tail. When the angry Shoyru turned around to try and find the petpet, Sair had his chance to flit to Violet's side, grab her hand, and say "Follow me!" She released the Faellie and jumped into the air after him. Though she slowed him down a little bit, they still had plenty of time to dive down a hollow tree trunk some ways off before Lars gave up searching for the Carmariller and began looking for them. Treeden darted down the trunk a moment later, looking smug. They huddled in the dark and silence for a few minutes, before Lars, quite close to them, finally yelled, «Aww, you guys aren't worth my time, anyway! C'mon, let's get out of here, Eyepatch.»
Some minutes later, Sair poked his head out, saw that the coast was clear, and emerged with Treeden, Violet following more cautiously behind. As they sat on top of a tree, Violet finally spoke. «Wow, thank you. I guess you're some kind of hero, huh?» The Xweetok made a childish, un-hero like face, and the Pteri giggled. «Well I guess I made a friend today, after all,» she said, smiling at him.
«Guess so,» Sair muttered, feeling that it might be mean to say otherwise.
«Well, I'll come back here and visit you sometime soon, okay?» Violet asked, brightly.
Sair shrugged, trying not to make a face. Giving him a hug that took him quite by surprise, and a final tickle to Treeden, who purred with pleasure, she took to the air and flew off over the treetops.
The Xweetok waited until she was well out of earshot before kicking the branch beneath his feet and exclaiming, «Girls are so weird!»
This is an application for Love, the desert Draik, and Nick, the pirate Draik. These two pets will fit together as a pair, but I can adopt them separately, and/or create the one I do not adopt.

Story:
The people of the Lost Desert had an affectionate and worshipful attitude toward their desert goddess, despite the desert's brutality, as people often will toward their predominant gods. She was called Love, an optimistic name, not one entirely unfair, but strange from the perspective of weaker entities at her mercy. But then, perhaps, not so strange. If you have no choice but to trust someone, you'd rather believe they cared about your welfare than not, wouldn't you? Love did not particularly care about the welfare of the people living in and traveling across her lands, but she did care very much for the land itself. She was very much like a tangible mother nature, who took a form appropriate to the blistering heat of the desert...a dragon.
She was tan colored, huge, and stood on all fours. Her large wings, so rarely employed for flight, were the pale blue of the washed-out sky or the hidden oasis whenever she unfolded them, with mysterious and subtle markings denoting the flowing of water or the movement of the winds. The large fins that framed her long face were the same almost nothingness blue that blended into the sky behind her head. Her eyes, a barely darker, more vibrant, liquidy blue, spoke strongly of the life-giving force of water, and the wisdom to withhold it, that made her land stay in balance. These large eyes, that once a person beheld, changed them forever, as it was said, were lined with kohl like the people's who inhabited the land. Her long tail, which swiped, serpentine and light across the sand behind her, was studded with a ridge of protrusions like arrowheads and ended in a natural dagger of flesh. Cyan claws armed each heavy foot. Despite all this, and adding to it the ability to breathe fire, she was not, in herself, dangerous to the people, besides through the ways of the unforgiving land she ruled. Whether or not she was responsible for the mirages of her which would occasionally lead a lost traveler to an oasis, yet remains to be seen. People will bless and curse where they may, often confusing the objects of both.
When in her dragon form, her underside was comprised of slightly lighter tan scales, protecting her from the intensity of the burning sand. Her teeth, sharp and pointed, were almost always hidden peacefully. No one knew what she ate, but one legend said that she was a herbivore, and that there was so little vegetation in the desert because a sand dragon roamed over it all day long, eating every green thing. It is possible, however, that she ate nothing, or survived only on water, or even earth, because she could in fact turn herself into sand, blending in and out of sand dunes, becoming one with them, traveling in any method she chose, either as a million tiny grains, or a demure leviathan creature.
Love had an enemy, however, a being so exactly similar to her in form that it was said that he was there as a compliment to her, but however still needing to be kept in check, and she was the only one able to do so. He was a dragon of the night, for whose sake people feared the desert, and prayed, arguable in vain, to the sand dragon for protection from. He, a dragon of cool steel blue-gray, could transform himself into shadow, and lay in the nooks of the sand, or the backsides of dunes, or come upon his prey with remarkable, immaterial speed. There was no hiding from him, and no getting away from him. Sometimes, he would lay before approaching travelers, his eyes glinting like two beautiful, bright stars, drawing them onward into his awaiting jaws. He would breathe blackness onto his victims, a thick, cloying shadow that chilled and separated each person in a world of pure, starless night. His name was Nick, and he had a good sense of humor, a sense of humor better than Love's, for he laughed at the misfortune that he so often produced. Love valued him the despite the annoyances he presented, and his lack of responsibility, for without him, certainly nothing could ever grow in the desert, if it had to be subject even at night to the sun, without the forgiving cloak of darkness at the end of every day. Yet she still persecuted him for his selfish habits, knowing that even with this treatment he would not leave. Nick enjoyed his companion's meddling and censure, even as she despised his wickedness. Theirs was a strange relationship, never satisfying to her, always satisfying to him as he perversely enjoyed her dislike of him.
Summary:
The basic idea is that they are desert dragons, symbolic and material, but able to transform into almost immaterial forms. They are quad, with anthro qualities, and able to speak articulately.
Love: Goddess of the desert, sand dragon, symbolic of day time, heat, sand, wind, and water. She is able to transform into sand, and breathe fire, and her greatest enjoyment, besides observing the land, is basking in the sun.
Nick: God of the night, shadow dragon, symbolic of death, terror, evil, nighttime, and cold. He is able to transform into shadow, and breathe darkness, and his greatest enjoyment, besides eating travelers stuck out in the desert at night, is how much it irritates Love when he does so.
