Re: Abilities levels??

The light faerie raises your ability when you land on her at wheel of excitement.
levels don't help you in the Battledome at all.

Abilities levels??

HOW do you raise the level of your abilities?? You know, on your pet's abilities page, it says at the top "there are ways to raise the level of your abilities, but we aren't going to tell you how..." and such and such.

So does anyone know?? I would REALLY like to know!

Thanks!

Re: Getting abilities

Unless your pet is at LEAST LEVEL ONE, it can't get blessed at all. How do you increase your level? The quickest and easiest way is by going to the Training School on Mystery Island. It'll cost you a codestone, but it's worth it to at LEAST get your pet up to Level 2.

Changing Disease

If the current disease you have needs an expensive cure, and you are tired of visiting the Healing Springs every 30 min, you can feed your pet a Poisonous Jelly to CHANGE the disease. In this way, you may have a chance to get a disease with a cheaper cure.

This can help when you need a quick battle with someone but accidentally get a disease.

Withdrawing

If you can't withdraw your pet from a battle, even after going to the Status Page, try feeding your pet.

If that doesn't work, un-equip, then re-equip a weapon. One of those should work.

Battledome Healing

If you're low on HP after a fight, but not completely knocked out and the Healing Springs doesn't get you enough points - here's an easy way to fill up on hit points without spending a single Neopoints. Just challenge and defeat one of the easy opponents in the Single Player Battledome. As soon as you defeat the opponent, you automatically go back up to your maximum hit points. Like I said, this could just be old news. Thought I might offer it up though.

Battledome tips

1. The first thing I do is check the pet's color. Now you may be asking why so here's the answer, If a go into a quick fight and the pet is painted Fire or Faerie or any of the other expensive paint brushes it shows that the owner is wealthy and that they MAY also have good bd items. If this is the case I will usually go on the defensive the first round to get a feel of what items they have. As with most things, this can be wrong for instance if the person is using the lab ray and they happened to get a lucky color change.

2. Ever gone into a fight and your opponent has 41/20 hp? Now instead of thinking that you will have to eliminate those extra 21 hp's I have found a simple solution. It turns out that any attack will take away all of those 21 extra hps. So what I will do is use any weapon that will do damage for instance I would use an attack fork and then a shield and the defense ability. This way I will take minimal damage and still take away all those extra hps. After that its just like a regular fight.

Punchbag Sid (thanks to nothingbutneopets)

It's random when Punchbag Sid appears in the Battledome, and he is only there for a few minutes at a time. When Sid is in the Battledome, it will show Punchbag Bob on the 1-player challenger list with a difficulty 100 (instead of 0) You can also just keep an eye on the Chat boards for others announcing when Punchbag Sid is in the Battledome.

Preparing for War

Guesszoo NEOPIA CENTRAL - War clouds are gathering above Neopia and tension is hanging thick in the air. According to statements made by the NeoPet Staff on the news page, a war will soon come to Neopia. But instead of just waiting for it, take the smart step and prepare for the war.

It's all about the Equipment...
To some extent, the equipment of a pet is much more important than the stats of a pet. Even a pet that has never received training but equipped with Battle Slices can cause real havoc. Therefore, the first thing to do is to purchase good/better Battledome equipment. For those new in the art of battling, Snowglobe Staff, Moon Staff, the Snows, Improved Lightning Beam and the Bronze Scorchstone are good choices. The more experienced should shop around for some new and better equipment to aid their pets too.

Even for those with little NP to spend, a good set of Battledome Equipment is still within their reaches. Some of the specie-specific weapons are simply awesome but at the same time, amazingly cheap. For example, if a pet's appearance is not of great importance to its owner, then morph the pet into a Kau or a Jubjub. The Kau Battle Horns and the Jubjub Helmet of doom have about the same effectiveness in battle as the Wand of the Air Faerie, but are at a minuscule fraction of the Wand of the Air Faerie's price.

Drain Life!
Dreaming of taking on the tough enemies in the later waves or even beating the "boss" of the invaders? Then the ability Drain Life is a must. Drain Life, a level 21 Dark Faerie ability, can drain 1/11 of the opponent's hp. Once per battle use. Even though it can only drain 100 hp at a time, Drain Life makes squashing those impossibly tough enemies somewhat less impossible.

Stock up on One-use Items
Exploding Snowballs and gold Battlecards are great for war situations. They do high damage and thus give even the weakest pet with the poorest owner a chance to join in the action. Another item worthy of mention is the Pumpkin Shield, a one-use item that blocks nearly all attacks. Prices on Snowballs and other one-use items had skyrocketed in each of the past two wars, so it is a wise idea to stock up on them prior to the war.

Heal, Heal, Heal!
After a loss, quick healing is needed to get right back in the game. However, that Water Faerie in Faerieland sometimes just doesn't quite do the job. No, the answer isn't to stock up on masses of healing potions, but to just purchase one healing battle item (ex. Slime potion) and a batch of Healing Potion Is. To heal, pull out a Healing Potion I, go for a match with Punchbag Bob, heal the pet back to full hp with the healing item and then withdraw from the match. And just in case Punchbag Bob isn't going to be in service during the war, prearrange a "Healing Battle Buddy" with a trusted friend. (Note the word "trusted friend". It's not a good idea to go into a healing battle with someone who's going to turn on you while you have 1 hp!)

Train!
One or two weeks of training with codestones and dubloons don't allow for high stat increases. But speedier alternatives like Kitchen Quests, various stat increasing Neggs and Terror Cove Scratchcards do exist and can be used at a higher price. Since time for training is limited, focus on what is arguably the easiest stat to improve in a short time, hit points.

Practice
Most Neopians tend to lose their first battle. (Those who won their first battle have the right to self-administered pats on the back.) Thus, it's not a good idea to march into a war battle with no idea of how a Battledome fight works and no experience in battling. New Battledomers should have a few practice matches in the 1-player challengers and those who haven't battled for a long time should too, just to refresh their memories. Battledomers interested in beating the tough enemies with super high stats in the later waves should practice beating the likes of Balthazar, the Snowager and Chiazilla.

The Name of the Game is Strategy
As hard as it is to believe, the strongest pets with the strongest weapons don't always win in the Battledome. That is because the Battledome is a strategy game. Hence, develop or plan out some Battledome strategies. For example, learning to freezing your opponent right before you heal, healing at the proper time to maximise your battle scores, knowing when to freeze so your opponent don't heal etc. Learn as much about the various Battledome weapons as possible and read the Battlepedia.

For Pacifists
Wars in "real life" are dreaded things for Pacifists and believers of non-violence. But Neopian wars are arguably a different story. For those who don't object to war-profiteering, stock up on codestones, Battledome equipment, dubloons, snowballs, battlecards and other worthy items while they are cheap. Then sell the hoard of goods when prices are high for a nice, tidy profit. Happy shopping!

For the more altruistic individual who want to help out with the war but not fight, purchase a large stock of healing potions and hand them out to hurt pets during the war. Not only are you helping the war effort, but this may also be a chance to make some new friends. Be a Florence Pterigale!

And most of all, this is an opportunity for Pacifists and believers of non-violence to live up to their ideals, practice resisting social pressures and temptation, strengthen their beliefs and learn more about themselves, all in the safety of a virtual war.

Check the News Often!
During the Sakhmet Battle, the first wave challengers were all defeated in approximately two hours. If a Neopian happened to be watching TV during those two hours, they lost their chance to fight the Grundo Troopers forever. And while this is not possible with some Neopians' schedules, an effort to check the news page every so often should be made. Remember this saying "Check the news often so you don't miss the action!"

The war is drawing ever closer with each ticking second. So why the wait? Go and prepare for the war now!

Here's some other links you should read as well.

Free Training

On your Pet's Day, when you do free training at Capn Threelegs, he'll never say the training is free, you just have to sign up for it and it will take you to the status page and instead of asking you to pay for the course, the time to completion will appear. Remember, at the academy, you can always cancel the course if you can't pay (unlike at the training school).

R99 Potions/Training

Hey All, I just wanted to bring something to your attention in regards to this R99 potion deal. Remember we talked about how much cheaper it was for training your pet if you morphed it into a "cheap" pet and then took it to the Academy on it's "special day" for free all day training sessions? Well, may I suggest that you go to the Calendar and see what up coming "special cheap pet " days are going to be a buy yourself a potion or more to save in your SDB until that time since most of the potions will be R99, they won't be quite so "cheap" anymore. Do it quick, before the prices skyrocket

In my opinion, any morphing potion under 10k is worth it compared to the cost of multiple codestones/dubloons for the amount of trips you can squeeze in on a "special" pet day.

Re: "Defence Weapons help!

Well, TNT killed almost all the 100% blocks. So here are I think all of the 100% blockers that we are "allowed" to use:

-Castle Defenders Shield, 100% block ALL icons, Once Per battle

-Downsize Power Plus, 100% block ALL icons, One Time Use

-Force Shield, 100% block ALL icons, Once Per Battle; Breakable

-Lord Darigans Jewel, 100% block ALL icons or 100% heal, Once Per Battle; Limit One Healing Item.

-Thyoras Tear, 100% block ALL icons, Once Per Battle; Limit One

Those are the 100% all blockers. If you want a certain ICON defender or other help just neomail me. :)

I completely agree.
a great weapon is the snowball, they are really cheap and do a lot of damage. I was on an awful losing streak until I read about snowballs. Then the next time I played in the battledome I won!
