How to make your own pixel.
First, you open up GIMP, you can use paint or photoshop too, but GIMP is what pixelplace uses
Second, you open up a file about 40x40, or for larger images, 100x100

Zoom in until you have a image about that doesn't fill up the screen, but is a good size, like the one below.

Draw your outline of your pixel. Also draw 3D effects, and extras. In this case, i'm doing a poptart, I would recomend you learn to do this BEFORE you do other things on your own. Those half circles will become 3D effects. You should do this with pencil.

Start filling your image with colors. The 3D effects closer the the top left corner should be a lighter version of the color base. In this case, my base color is baby blue. The outline of the poptart should be a light tan.

Erase the black circles insie the poptart. Now here's the hard part, set smudge tool to 0.38. Smudge up little by little, unti your poptart has lighting effects on it. It should now look like this

Fill in extra blank spots. Now, here's the fun part. Add a face! Put a little face on your poptart!

Now, save as a png image, name it, and save it! Zoom out and look at the finished product
