Website:
Here you will find all the information you need if you want to become a member of 花より男子, or if you are a new member looking where to start. We are an exclusive application based guild, literate and private. We pride ourselves on originality, dedication and our fantastic members. Please note this is only our application page not our website (which is strictly members only).
花より男子 【Hana Yori Dango】 was formed on the 1st of July after many weeks of planning and consideration. The name was inspired by the hit Japanese drama 【Boys Over Flowers】 that was first broadcasted in 2005 staring 松本潤 【Matsumoto Jun】 from popular boy band 嵐【arashi】. Founded by Ayumi (ayusakuchan), 花より男子 started life as a one-member guild, which quickly blossomed into the larger established guild it is today.
The name also serves a special purpose to the guild. As we are an Asian themed guild our purpose is to provide a heaven for those who are interested in all aspects of Asian culture, from Japan, to China, Korea, Taiwan etc. 花より男子 was originally a shoujo manga by mangaka 神尾葉子 【Yoko Kamio】which was turned into a TV series in Taiwan, Japan, Korea and now China. 花より男子 is the unification of Asia into one.
花より男子 is a pun on a Japanese saying; Dumplings over/before Flowers (花より団子). This is a well known Japanese saying that refers to people who attend Hanami, but instead of enjoying the beauty of the flowers they head straight for the food vendor booths.
We are an exclusive, literate Asian themed guild including but not limited to; Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Uniting Asia. We focus mainly on language and culture. We offer lessons in Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin) and Korean for members from basic to advanced. Mini lessons include Thai, (Tagalog, Cantonese, Vietnamese in the making) with the addition of some European languages. In the future we do hope to offer lessons of even more Asian languages well known or otherwise. We welcome non-native speakers of either languages as well as those with little or no knowledge. We have members from all around the world from America, to Europe, Asia and Australia, making HYD a truly multi cultural and lingual guild.
Another unique feature to HYD besides our language centre is our Asian Directory; here members can find information on Dramas, Films, and TV shows, Fashion, Foods, Music and even Musicals from all over Asia. Each country has it's own section making it easy to find what you are looking for.
We also provide various Neopets services to our members ranging from our adoption centre, avatar pet, petpet and item lending program, 1np auctions and game guides (for avatars) in the works.
Hana Yori Dango aims to provide a relaxing and friendly guild atmosphere for anyone who shares an interest in Asian culture but does not want a guild that revolves around anime.
The language centre is a unique key feature to hyd. The aim of the language centre is to:
A) Find your best way of learning.
B) Teach you how to read, write and speak in different Asian languages.
C) Enhance your learning experience with broken down dialogue, in depth explanations, pictures and animations, frequent tests and interactive activities.
At our language centre Korean, Japanese and Chinese are taught from beginner to advanced. Members can choose to start a course from scratch, beginning to end, or if already studying that language, browse through and pick a lesson of their choice which suits their level. The archive also gives members the opportunity to re-cap on previous lessons and go over things they may have missed before. All lessons are well organized, easy to find and most importantly, easy to follow! At the start of each course lessons will be based around writing, romanization and a brief history of the language followed by a few facts. This will then lead you to go onto lessons that introduce broken dialogue explaining each and every word, particle and sentence for you, so you understand exactly what is being said. This will also help you to create your own sentences from what you have already learned as lessons progress.
Lessons are constantly being added to our site daily, by both native and high leveled speakers with sources from things such as members own lesson notes from school, books, audio tapes, etc. We aim to provide members with a professional, accurate way of learning without the price tag.
Mini lessons on the site include languages such as Tagalog, Cantonese (for now) and Thai. These lessons will not be as in depth as our main lessons but will cover the basics and give you a good understanding of the form and structure of the language. The more native speakers of each asian language we get who are prepared to help teach, the more lessons we can provide on languages that can be hard to learn due to lack of sources.
We offer various item, pet and petpet avatars to lend. In order to lend for free you must be at rank 꽃【kkot】or above. Members at rank 団子【dango】are able to lend avatar items for half price.
For members who wish to lend pets and petpets, please note we will only lend through transfer. There is no rank requirement for lending pets. However who is eligible to lend pets is down to the lender.
We currently offer the following to lend: (along with some minor, cheap avatars)
Points are awarded to members who for example take part in and win activities. The points you earn go towards helping your team win each month. Every month the total amount of points collected by each team is counted and a winning team announced. The winning team will receive a trophy for their board. Points will be reset at the end of each month. At the end of the year the team with the most trophies and/or points is crowned the winner and receives something special.
Each team has their own team room and team board. The team board is where stickers, badges and stars collected by their team members are placed. As well as earning stickers and badges for your team members can also earn individual achievements. These achievements will be displayed on your entry in the member directory. Some achievements will become retired over time; others will be available all year round. Achievements range from 'Not So Serious' to 'Dedication'.
Please note: Games and Challenges are only available during the school holidays.

m(_ _)m please follow the rules of the guild. By applying for HYD you signify you have read, accept and will follow our rules and regulations upon joining.

ACTIVE. When the school season is upon us please post at least once per month. Unless you have informed a council member of inactiveness, please put the date of absence on our calendar. If not you will be deemed inactive and be up for member sweep deletion. However we do understand you have a real life outside Neopets. Member sweeps happen once a month to clear the guild of inactive people. Don't worry we are not horrible we will not delete you for going on holiday or being unable to access the Internet. This sweep is mainly for those who join, and do not post at-least once within a weeks time, or have not been seen for over 50 days. You will receive a warning in advance then another a day before you are deleted. Member sweeps take place on the 1st of every month unless stated otherwise.
GENERAL. Only Council are permitted to have more than one account in the guild. We do not allow off site links to be posted on the guild message boards. If you wish to link off site please post such messages on our guild forum. Disagreements should be settled in a calm civilized manner. Never resort to rude offensive comments or threats whether this is on the guild or directed personally at another member through neomail. We will not allow it.
We recommend you ENABLE GUILD MAILING so we can inform you of important news and updates.
Consequences for breaking rules will depend on the circumstances. Generally three chances are given for breaking minor rules, warning → second warning → suspension → ban. For serious issues however no warning will be given and the member will be permanently banned.
花より男子 is a private application based guild. We encourage pets-page applications however it is not required. Our member limit is currently 100. Exceptions may be made for outstanding applications.
Please understand that as we are a large guild we do not want members to feel overwhelmed this is why the member limit exists.
Here is a link to a example application to help you. Do not copy.
The Application:
Requirements:
UserName: (your main and side account if joining on a side)

What you can do for the guild:
Why you want to join:
A paragraph about yourself:
What Literacy level is HYD?: (Just so we know you read the rules :3)
Q. WHY DO I NEED TO FILL IN AN APPLICATION TO JOIN? A. Membership is moderated; this lessens the chance of troublemakers, spammers, chat speakers etc entering the guild. It is merely a precaution.
Q. DO I NEED TO BE ASIAN TO JOIN? A. Not at all 花より男子 is a guild for anyone interested in Asian culture whether you are Asian or not, we welcome everyone.
Q. IS THERE A GUILD ACCOUNT? A. Yes, hanasakuchan is the official 花より男子 guild account should anything happen to ayusakuchan. Ayumi runs both of these. Please DO NOT send your applications or questions to this account, as it is only used during member sweeps.
Q. CAN I DO MY APPLICATION ON A PETS-PAGE? A. You certainly can. We understand that the character limit for neomail is very restricted. If you feel like you have a lot to say, just send a council member with a link to your application, it is perfectly acceptable.
Q. CAN I STILL APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP IF THE GUILD POPULATION IS FULL? A. Yes, you can still apply, however you may have to wait till the end of the month when member sweeps have taken place to join if accepted. We may make exceptions.
Q. CAN I JOIN ON A SIDE ACCOUNT? Side accounts are perfectly acceptable as long as you are active. One side account per person.
Q. DOES THE GUILD INCLUDE OTHER ASPECTS OF ASIA BESIDES THE SOUTHEAST/EAST? A. Yes we most certainly do as HYD is all about uniting Asia. We have many members who have interests in Bollywood films and soundtracks for example. We are also expanding our language centres gradually to provide members with lessons in other Asian languages like Hindi, Tagalog Thai etc.
Q. WILL I BE KICKED OUT OF THE GUILD IF I AM INACTIVE FOR A WHILE? A. No, we do understand you have a life. Just make sure you notify us before going on vacation, being able to go on the computer etc or put it in the guild calendar. If you don't you might be deleted when it comes to member sweeps. If after being deleted you explain the situation you will be invited back into the guild as-long as you inform us of in activeness in the future :3
Q. CAN I SPEAK IN A NON-ENGLISH LANGUAGE ON THE MESSAGE BOARDS? A. You can; we encourage this as it makes great practice. When doing so please add an English translation after, as it will aid the learning of others.
Q. ARE YOU ACTIVE? We are very active. We have members on during mostly all times of the day from different time-zones, so there will always be someone to chat with.
Q. IS COUNCIL OPEN? A. Applications for council are closed and were available for pre-join members only back in July. However there are staff 'F4' positions currently available.
Just joined the guild? Not sure what's, what? Usually members will be there to welcome you into the guild, however here are some simple steps to getting started:
♥ → Introduce yourself on the guild message board.
♥ → Put your birthday in the calendar.
♥ → Enable guild mailing.
♥ → Go to the website and pick your team.
♥ → Check out the members only premium language page.
♥ → Lastly get involved and have fun we look forward to meeting you :3
We encourage members to participate as much as they can. Here are a few ideas of how you could contribute to the guild:
Teach - If you have advanced knowledge in either Japanese, Chinese, Korean or any other Asian language you could be a guild teacher.
Referring Members - If you can't teach and don't know HTML/CSS advertising is a great way to get involved and help out the guild. Remember pre-made advertisements are bad. Be creative, a potential member is a person not a number.
HTML/CSS - If you have knowledge in html/css you could create your own page for the guild portal.
Graphics - Budding graphics maker? You could create banners, layouts etc for the guild.
Of course ideas and suggestions are always welcome so get thinking! (⌒▽⌒)
