You sit with a group of people in the middle of a once busy highway. Grass, moss and weeds now grow in the cracks, even a small tree or two. Some old cars sit across from you that were once shiny and polished, now, rusty and falling to pieces. A family of birds and a raccoon reside inside one of these cars now.
A fire burns steady and hot, cooking some game that your group has just caught. You haven't eaten in about 48 hours, the smell of the meat makes your mouth water.
Hey, Conner, asked one of your group members. Can you tell us about what life use to be like?
When? asked Conner raising a bushy eyebrow.
Y'know, the boy shrugged. When the cities were lively before we were born.
You listen eagerly never having heard the story before, nobody in your previous group ever asked about the past, afraid one of the elders might get upset from the bad memories.
Conner sits back, scratching his wild beard, his eyes lost in with thought, It's been a long time ago...
Everyone scoots closer to Conner as they grab their supper.
Life was completely different than it is now, that's for sure, he began. Use to, cities were full of people and life. Cars filled the highways day and night. People were home to work, work to home.
It really depended in which city you were in. Some were not as busy or big as this one, this use to be the city of Dallas in the state of Texas. Do you remember me telling you about the United States of America?
The group nods silently.
They weren't just cities, but they were little towns in rural areas. Texas use to be full of them.
He looked in the fire for a moment, caught up in a memory.
My parents and I use to live in Atlanta, Georgia. I was just starting college when everything changed. Before, everything was fine for the lives of the human population. Political troubles happened then and there. A war might beak out that would last only for a few years, it was usually in a foreign country. But everyone lived there lives and made ends meet in a much different way than we do today. We never had to deal with anything crucially bad or catastrophic, especially here in the western world.
But, everything changed when the 'gifted' showed up. They weren't gifted, they were freaks! Reading minds, create storms or fire out of then air, I saw a boy picking up a full-sized van and throwing it across the street! It was crazy! They just showed up in groups and said, "We've been around humans since the beginning of time, there's no reason to fear us.
Yeah, that worked out for 'em after that. They should have just stayed in hiding, then this mess never would have happened, the anger rose in his voice.
He took a moment to compose himself so he could continue. Everyone is eager to hear more.
Conner sighs, After they announced themselves to the public people started to grow afraid. People weren't acting right. Even close people you would know, they were hesitant toward 'ya. Nobody trusted anyone, always looking over your shoulder afraid some freak would pop out and scare you, or worse! Things just grew out of hand.
The government tried to calm to the public but that was impossible because the masses were just too afraid of the freaks. Across the world people were panicking and the freaks just ate it up.
Conner got up from his seat and walked around the fire for a moment before speaking again. You can tell that this was not easy for him to retell.
Finally the governments of the world collapsed from the pressure and war broke out across the world. It was World War III and everyone was just fighting each other. It didn't matter if you were human or not everyone was just... fighting. People tried to get out of the cities because it was just chaos. A lot of people lost their lives from just the riots trying to apprehend human's and freaks alike. Not even the military lasted long.
Some people were able to get into rural areas and stay to ride out the madness. We soon formed groups, like this, and survive of the wilderness. After the chaos civilization as we knew it was gone. Travel, communication, industry, everything just collapsed in front of our eyes.
Nobody dared to go to the cities after that for years. Some had to go back though because groups of people started to go stumble onto territories. I think we all now that part.
He smiles up at the group and they return the gesture, except for you.
It's been thirty-eight years since that mess started. I don't think anything will go back to the was life was back then. At least, not while I'm alive.
I did hear a rumor that there's a government being established up where New York City use to be. I don't know if it will work, but if it can get the world back together then so be it!
But we all know this, He looked over at everyone in the group. We must survive so that the future can stay strong and rebuild. The freaks will pay for starting this even though it was mostly our fault, he frowned. Humanity has learned something by now. But, they ruined everything! Those freaks will learn one way or another.
Conner then looks at you straight in the eye, a shiver runs down your spine as if he knows that you are a gifted. A freak. All you can do is stare back and pray that he doesn't actually know your secret...
Welcome to Treacherous' Webbie! I hope you've enjoyed what you've read so far because you've just gotten a taste. Come with me and let's learn more about the story and the plot!
We currently are still under construction since 3/21/13 and are working hard to get the guild fully operational. We currently have 3 members, Al, Tails and Darky.
Treacherous is a post-apocalyptic, gifted school roleplay guild. Due to the inactivity for most of the roleplay guilds recently, our main goal is to have fun and to roleplay like when roleplay guilds were very active. We hope that you will join our growing family!
The world has collapsed all because the gifted made their presents known to the world. Fear overcame humanity, now, life for them is a struggle everyday.
One of the biggest groups known in what was the United States is now starting to form a government in the ruins of New York City. With the reconstruction of the city, people are full of hope that maybe life can go back to what use to be normal.
The leader of the group had made a deal with the leader of the biggest gifted group; to end the war as long as the gifted go to an castle and the city around it, specially built for them, and to stay there through their days. The gifted leader agreed, knowing that they would be isolated from humans would be the best thing for the gifted.
The castle and the small city was built. The _ Academy was born and the gifted looked up to a brighter future.
What the gifted leader didn't know was that the human leader had something planned for the gifted. He planned to wait for the gifted to learn how to use their powers and mature before he used them for his benefit. All he had to do was restore the stronghold, raise up a new military, and use the gifted to help take over the world for a one-world government. Why not use the people who started this war anyway?
