My name is Mari and I have been on Neopets for seven years, on and off, so I'm not new to Neopets or petpages; I'm just new at being the owner of a petpage review site and petpage directory :) Pumpkin Pie Reviews is my second site and my first review site. Rules

Grading Scale

First Impression(15) This is what I think of the site when I first see it. The first impression can either cause the person to leave or stay and look at your site. I consider this the most important part of the review.

Layout(15) This includes the general set up of the site and color choices. Can I read everything? Do your colors go well together? (Note: I will not mark you down if I don't like your color choices, but I will if they clash). I also include music choice because I consider it an important part of the layout. Does your music match your site? Does it make me wish my computer didn't have speakers or is it appropriate for the site? If your site does not have music, you will not be marked down.

Content(15) There are two extremes here and you can be marked off for both: You have very little content and almost no variety. Or you have too much content and the page takes forever to load and the amount of information overwhelms me so much I don't want to read it all. The first problem can be solved by adding more content; the second problem can be solved by eliminating unnecessary graphics or having the content very, very organized. Too much content can be almost as negative as too little content.

Organization (15) Can I find everything quite easy? Are there meaningless graphics taking up space and ruining the page?

First Impression: 14/15
The site is colorful, bright and has a name that stands out. Although the name of the site (Thunderstruck) and the rainbows don't seem to match, the site still looks good. Right away one can tell what the purpose of the petpage is (premade user lookups), which is excellent.

Layout: 12/15
The two-column layout is good for this site and the background and banner are bright and cheerful, yet not overly colorful; however, the headers do not seem to match. Everything else is so colorful, so it seems as though the headers are rather plain. Also, there should be a little space between each of the lookup categories so that everything doesn't look crammed together.

Content: 15/15
There are lots of layouts to choose from and they are all very creative.

Organization: 12/15
I think that a navigation should not be in a scroll box. Other than this, the layouts look good in scroll boxes so that they don't take up too much room.

It's difficult to find a petpage that has non-neopets lookups, especially one that has this much variety. Therefore for uniqueness you receive nine points.

The site shows a lot of effort and creativity. There are only a few things that need to be fixed, like the simple headings, spelling mistakes, navigation, and spacing. Other than that, great work!

First Impression: 13/15
The site is most definitely a bright color. My first impression is that I do not know what the purpose of the site is. One could think that it was just a blog pet page, since the name does not give a hint at anything and the "rainbow" is partially covering both the name of the site and the navigation.

Layout: 13/15
This type of layout is good because everything is on a different page. The background is simple, but since the banner itself so colorful, it doesn't matter. The only part that is confusing about the layout is the categories. The Navigation is quite vague (for example, "Resources"?). Also, the main page would look better if there was some room between the navigation and the top affiliates.

Content: 15/15
There is a good amount of content and variety. Good work!

Organization: 13/15
The disorganization on the site comes from the navigation being vague. It's difficult to find link back buttons or a neomail link. And, like I mentioned above, the category titled "Resources" is also unclear.

First Impression: 10/15
The first impression of the site is not very good. Apart from the fact that there is no banner and the site looks too plain, the font is difficult to read, therefore making the site difficult to navigate.

Layout: 9/15
The one column layout is good for a music sit, but a two column layout, in my opinion, would work out even better because link back buttons and other information would not be at the very bottom of the page. The site needs a banner- something maybe with the name of the site. The colors for the site are not good because they make everything difficult to read. I can see that the purpose was to match the colors with the background graphic, but those colors are too light by themselves. Also, the headings could be made to stand out more with a bigger font, a background heading graphic, or a color that stands out more. The updates should be in scroll boxes or eventually they'll take up too much room. Also, the invisible scroll bar, although it may seem nice, is not good for navigation.

I saw a few organization problems with the site. The updates are not in scroll boxes and eventually they'll take up to much room. Second, the scroll bar is not visible. I count the scroll bar as an organization problem because it makes it difficult for people to find what they are looking for or scroll the page quickly. Usually, people don't click the Up/Down arrows, so in my opinion a visible scroll bar is necessary. Finally, there is no form to request music. It's much neater and easier to provide a form and it makes the site much more organized.

First Impression: 12/15
The impression that the site gives at first glance is "fancy!". The site is simple, easy to navigate and to the point; however, a little brightening up would help it seem more welcoming.

The two column layout works, and the plain background with an image on the right goes well; however, I think that there is too much space between the top of the page and the banner. Another problem I noticed with the layout was the headings. Some of the headings, like for example "Hello!" and "Icons" have a cloudy colorful background, while others like "Updates" and "Links" are plain. The sites colors and font a readable, but the colors are too random. There seems to be no theme and too many different colors.

First Impression: 9/15
My first impression of the site is that there is so much information, it's overwhelming. The site is bright and welcoming, but what might make people search for another page is the fact that there is too much on the page.

Layout: 10/15
I think, based on the amount of information on the site, that it would look better as a three column layout. It's very good that the separate sections are in scroll boxes; otherwise the page would be way too long. One thing that I found wrong with the layout was centering. In the right column, all the text seems to be aligned left rather than being centered, which seems to be because of the width of the scroll boxes. The font color and the overall colors of the site are readable. The "Back to Top" links are useful for navigation. Good work!

Content: 14/15
There is a lot of content, no doubt about that, but I have to take off points because it's difficult to find what one is looking for. There's enough information on the page to make several different pet pages. The Table of Contents is not alphabetized, so that makes it difficult to navigate all the information.

The page is organized; however, it would be very helpful if the Table of Contents was alphabetized. Also, the page would look neater if the right column were centered and not aligned left. I think it would also be a good idea to put a little more space between the sections so that the information does not look crowded together.

The Frequent Fruzo

First Impression: 10/15
When I first saw the site, I did not know what the purpose of it was. The banner does not give a hint and neither does the name. It is a creative name though, but it doesn't say anything about the site. The site looks rather plain; maybe because of the background being just a solid color and the banner being too simple. Other than this, from just scrolling the page the site gives the impression that there are a lot of links and that it's a useful dailies page.

Layout: 12/15
The layout for the site is good and looks organized; however, as I mentioned above, the site looks plain. In my opinion, the site could use a little more brightening up with the addition of more colors or maybe using a different shade of the colors already there. Also, the banner is really nice but I think it too can use a little more brightening up. As for the columns themselves, the text is at the very edge of the table, which can easily be fixed by adding "padding". The Navigation is good, except I think it would look better if the beginning letters were capitalized and if "free food, free neopoints" weren't aligned to the very left of the column.

The site looks very organized; everything is in a category and there is a navigation. The only thing that makes the site look disorganized is the fact that the first letter of the words aren't capitalized on most of the left column but they are on the rest of the page. I think the site should be consistent with the way things are written.

In my opinion, the site is good, although I think there needs to be a few changes made, like brightening up the layout and banner, adding "padding" to the columns, and capitalizing words. Also, there are many dailies pages out there- I think it's a good idea to try to be listed in more directories so that there are more visitors.

First Impression: 12/15
My first impression of the site is that it seems very "island". At a first glance one can tell that the site is straight to the point. The only thing I found rather unwelcoming was the dull yellow color in the background.

Layout: 13/15
The three column layout for the site is very good. Information can be found quite easily. The site has a good navigation and clear headings which makes it easier to find what one is looking for. The font and the font color are readable and a good size. As for the banner, it's simple and small yet it goes well with the rest of the layout. Again, the only part that's dull is the background. It's not so much the color, but the shade. Also, I think it would be good to add "padding" to the columns because the text is right on the edge and makes it look messy.

At first glance the layout and brightness of your site is quite impressive. My first impression of the site is that it's cheerful, colorful and full of graphics. It is definitely an improvement over the last layout because the site seems more welcoming and light.

The top portion of the layout, with the name of the site, updates, welcome and character is well made. The combination was done perfectly so that it does not look cluttered. I think that something more creative can be done with the layout on the rest of the page. The two column layout, although good, looks plain in comparison to the creative banner. The only other problem I see is spacing. For example, between "Back to Top" and "Zelda Graphics" there should be some space so that it does not look messy. The animated graphic that you chose to put next to your headings is eye-catching and improves the heading. Your color choice is good- everything can be read quite easily.

Well, if a person is a fan of the Jonas Brothers, the larger than usual banner can be a positive thing; however, it is rather too large and a bit overwhelming. My first impression of the site is that there are a lot of graphics to choose from. Scrolling down the page variety is quite evident.

Layout: 12/15
The layout of the site works well for a graphics site, but there should definitely be a "navigation" because there is a lot of content and this can make it a little difficult to find what one is looking for. Also, I think the banner is a bit too big. As for the music, it obviously goes well with the site because it's the Jonas Brothers. The color choice is also good because it's not too bright and one can easily read everything.

Since there are so many graphics on the site and they are split up into sections, I think the page would be much more organized if there were a navigation. The icons on the side seem somehow out of place. The graphics are mainly in the center of the page and the only ones that are on the side are the icons, which when I was scrolling through quickly for first impression I thought they were a variety of link back buttons. Also, since the site allows people to request different graphics, I think there should be a form to neomail and a visible neomail link to make it easier.

My first impression of the site is that it's professional and very well made. At first, it's not evident that this is a review site but that soon becomes very obvious when scrolling down the page. The site is welcoming due to the introduction and the soft and elegant color choice. Nice work!

I think your site is the perfect example of a one-column review site that just works. It's difficult to have a review site that only has one column because the information has to be in good order so that it makes sense and looks organized. The only thing I see missing is a "Navigation", which I think would be useful in order to link directly to specific reviews or sections. The colors of the site are a good choice (pink , black and white)- the site looks stylish, professional and simple. The banner is just basically text but it goes well with the simplicity of the layout.

Well, that's definitely a pet page directory, no doubt about it. Very good and creative choice for a banner- right to the point and it makes it obvious that the site is a directory. Your site definitely gives the impression that one will find what one is looking for. Good work!

The layout for the site is quite good; however, the column that starts with "Welcome" slightly overlaps the banner. The choice of colors is creative but they do not match. I think the color of the background does not go well with the banner or the shade of yellow of the columns. As for the columns, I think they would look better if they were "padded" slightly so that the text is not right on the edge of the table.

Based on the overall layout I did not know that it was a review site- at first I actually thought it might be a graphics site. Only after looking through it more slowly did I realize it was a site for reviews. I think that this may be because the name does not hint at the purpose, which is perfectly fine, but I think that the banner or the first heading should specify that it's a review site.

Layout: 8/15
I think the layout that you have does not work well for a review site unless you have scroll boxes-otherwise the site will eventually become one long list. What will make this worse is the fact that there is no navigation to go directly to certain reviews. Updates should definitely be in scroll boxes or they take up too much room eventually. Also, the tables are not "padded" so the text is right near the edge of the table. The color choice for the site is nice, but I think the banner should stand out a little more and maybe show that it's a review site.

The layout messes up the organization of the site quite a bit. Like I mentioned before, there should be scroll boxes and definitely a "navigation" so that people can click and be taken directly to their reviews. One thing that I did not like about the site is the invisible scrollbar. Some people do not use the arrows to scroll, so I think a visible scrollbar is best. First Impression: 10/15
At first, I had no idea what type of site I had clicked on. The general text stands out more than the banner of the site, which was slightly difficult to read. I don't realize what the site's purpose is until I actually read the introduction. I think the purpose of the site should be evident the moment one sees it. Also, I would suggest brightening up the site more, to catch the attention of the viewer. Also, adding a bit more decoration on/around the page itself- the site looks a bit too plain.

Layout: 10/15
The layout is simple but, in my opinion, it works for the site. Sometimes, sites that don't have at least two columns are frowned upon as being too simple, but since it is not a big site, it's quite okay. You were marked down for not having a "Navigation". Even if there is not much to navigate to, this makes the site look more organized. Also, as I said above, I think it would be a good idea to brighten the page up a bit (examples: decorate the headers of the sections, add a border around the page, etc.). Also, the banner needs some major improvement; a suggestion: Make it a little bit larger and in a color that doesn't blend so much with the background so people will be able to read it better and maybe add in small letters "A Chocolate Usul Directory".

Content: 14/15
I bet Chocolate Usuls are very rare, so I won't mark you off too much for too little content. The site shows effort, both in what is written and in the content in general. I think it would take some time to "recruit" Chocolate Usuls, so good work in finding them.

Organization: 11/15
Again, I think it would be a good idea if you added a "Navigation". There is more emphasis placed upon the introduction and description of the page than the actual list of Chocolate Usuls themselves, which is the point of this directory. In fact, the first time I looked at the site for the "First Impression" portion of the review, I almost completely skipped over it. The names listed under "Soldiers" need to be organized in a way that catches the viewer's attention. I think that is the only organization error.

Updates: 0/2 points. Updates let a person know if the site content is current. I suggest adding an updates section where you can state which "Soldiers" have currently been recruited or mention changes to the site.

Counter: 0/2 points. I think adding a counter lets you know how popular your site is becoming. And it's also encouraging to see the number of visitors rise every day.

First Chocolate Usul Directory I have ever seen, and I have been on this site for nearly seven years. It has its own unique place among directories.

The site needs some improvement but the idea is good and the effort is evident, so I think that with a few little corrections and improvements, the site could totally become better and more eye-catching.
