Name-meanings are pretty cool. I find it kind of interesting how the meanings to my name seem to relate well with each other, in a way; the elements could work in a real-life situation. Plus, parts of my name come from my European roots, which I like to show off to the world; I'm a proud Carvalho.

The people I call my best friends

Charlotte
Lotsie-Lottie, you're 'Lotsa' fun, that's for sure! It's so great that you're a fellow gymnast, so I'm not the only one being called a pretzel by the others. (: You're super sweet and an awesome friend to have, not to mention a great athlete. I'm pretty sure that soon enough, with your persuasion thanks to your love for it, I'm going to be a hockey fan, too. Who should I cheer for? The Habs? The Rangers? The Devils? Are those even real team names? (:

Hunter
If there's one person that I couldn't imagine not being in my life, it's you, Hunt. It's just impossible to imagine my life without you in it. You're a super sweet guy and, I'll admit, I was completely oblivious to the fact that you liked me in a 'more-than-friends' way. Now that I know, you've definitely become more shy around me, and truthfully, I miss how easily you could talk to me before I knew. Don't be afraid, Hunt, because you never know; I just might like you back... in the 'more-than-friends' way.

Okay, so the hinting there is the truth -- I do like you back, and in the 'more-than-friends' way. How could I not, Hunt? You're so sweet and kind and so much fun to be around. I'll never forget that one afternoon where we had a blast hitting baseballs and (attempting) cartwheels. I'm not sure if those feelings for me are still there or not, but I hope they are. I'd love to give things a try with you and me, Hunny.

Life is not measured by the breaths you take

but by its breathtaking moments

Ciao, olá!

Good day to you. I'm Savannah Estella Carvalho. I'm seventeen years old, and I'm fine with my life. My parents are pretty wealthy, though, that doesn't mean much to me. Sure, it pays for education and things like that, but I don't go around rubbing it in people's faces. It's a waste of my time; time that I could be using to practice. I'm a gymnast you see... well, you can read more about that below.

I like to experiment with taking pictures

Can you tell?

The moment I first did a cartwheel

is a fantastic memory

Twelve years old
"Next up, performing on the balance beam for the Los Angeles Team, Number 10, Savannah Carvalho," the announcer's voice rang out through the crowded arena over the loudspeaker. The audience's applause had just died down for the last gymnast's act, and now the enclosed space was silent once more.
On the sidelines, my coach, Abigail, patted my shoulder and said some rushed encouraging words before I approached the balance beam in the centre of the floor. I glanced up at the crowd watching me silently, but my eyes were fixed on my parents, who sat in the first row opposite where I stood. I grinned widely at them and they returned my smile with supporting ones of their own, my dad flashing me two thumbs up.
I tore my gaze from their faces and set myself to focussing on my routine. I had been practicing this one the most, as it was the one that I just couldn't get up to perfect standards. The hardest part, though, was the landing. Abigail had said that I probably wasn't ready to attempt it just yet at a competition, but I was determined to stuck the landing, being the stubborn, committed person I was. It was called an 'aerial walkover forward with 1.5 twists'. Basically what that meant was that I would flip off the balance beam and then turn a few times in the air before landing. So I practiced it everyday up until today, the competition, and I was confident I could do it. Now was the time to prove myself.
I got up on the balance beam and started my routine. I was doing well, as I didn't miss any steps or mess up any of the choreography. I was pleased I was fine, because my dismount was coming up shortly. Finally, when it was upon me, I took a deep breath and prepared myself for the aerial walkover. In the air, mid dismount, my heart raced. I was fine, I was doing it! My turns were right on, and I straightened up again to land on my feet, thereby perfecting the difficult landing. But I came down harder than I expected, and when the first foot to make contact with the ground touched down, I knew I was in trouble. It felt like my left foot had just been grazed with a blade. I cried out in pain, and next thing I knew, my legs had given out, and I was lying on the ground.
The crowd, once hushed, simultaneously gasped in surprise, and the sound of many people murmuring reached my ears. However, I was paying more attention to the sharp pain in my foot. Every breath I took in was through clenched teeth as I clasped my hands around the foot. Instantly, Abigail was at my side, and a few of the stand-by medics, and was frantically moving to examine my foot. She pressed on it in a few places which made me cry out again. She insisted I come off to the sidelines with her, but I shook off her words. Slowly, I stood, with the help of Abigail, but when I applied weight to my foot, the pain increased even more. I still had one floor routine to do before I was finished, and so finally I convinced Abby and the medics to let me finish what I had started. She reluctantly let me be, and I did run through my routine, but my foot ached with every move I made, and my vision was blurry from the tears that welded in my eyes. I pushed through and luckily, I managed to win silver. The judges had thought that my routines were great, and my dismount had been good, minus the miss-landing. So silver I settled with. I just wished that I had had better luck with my broken ankle…
