Explanation

Bruno's Backward Breakaway is a game where you must collect all the potions to advance to the next stage. There is a series of levels, some hard, and some..not so hard (fortunately). This game has a maximum score you can get. 5180. This is why the highscores 1st place, and minimum score is 5180. Not everybody on the highscore will recieve a trophey, so once again, read tiedscore's petpage, on tips on when to send your score.

Instructions
Instructions are straight from the game itself

After a potion he took went wrong, Bruno became a disfigured, monstrous gelert. The townspeople of Neovia took the same potion and were similarly twisted by the elixer. They blamed Bruno for being the first to advertise the potion and chased him into the haunted woods. To escape their wrath, Bruno must now use whatever shelter he can find to avoid the angry mob.

Avoid the villigars and the rocks they throw. Collect all the potions to end the level. Use the LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys to move and the SPACEBAR to jump. Press SPACEBAR when Bruno is near a cave to drop off the potions and press P to pause.

Tips

Here are a few tips that should help you achieve a good score:

1. As we all know, the first tip for any game is PRACTICE. Play as much as you can - especially on the parts you find hard, until you perfect your skills.

2. Dont have any background sound. I've always found it easier to play where there is no sound in the background. This also includes muting the sound from the game itself.

3. Limit your playing time. Dont keep trying over and over in one big block of time. Try a few times, say 5-10 and if you cant get it stop for a while. Take a break. Come back later, refreshed and ready to go again!

4. Be careful in the game. Dont go as fast as you can. This game has no bonus for speed. Once you memorise levels you can go fast, but before this time you should take it slow, and be very cautious.

5. Learn the levels back to front. It helps if you know exactly what you're facing, and any difficulties you may face.

6. Use the replay of backgrounds to your advantage. Remember to be clever when trying to reach potions. If the potion is on the left, but too far to jump to, or there is a wall in the way. Go right until you reach it. This is the same with going up and down.

7. Drop of the potions in one go. NEVER, under and circumstance, drop off an incomplete fraction of potions, unless you are playing only for neopoints. If you drop them off seperately, you will get less points, therefore having no chance of a highscore. If you're going for a highscore and drop potions off seperately, start again, even if you're on the last level. You will not recieve 5180 points.

The Cheat

Ok, there is only one cheat that actually helps on Bruno's Backward Breakaway, lookoutbruno. This will give you an extra life. I would suggest using this only when you need it. There is another code, that cant really be classified as a cheat. It is monstermovie. This will toggle the game into black and white mode. Type again to revert between the two.
Thanks for lizard_for_you0005 for telling me there was a mistake in the cheat. It is fixed now.

Level Stratergies

Obviously this guide couldn't be finished without me telling you how to complete the levels. Well, now ill go through each in detail, and, to the best of my ability, explain how to complete them in the easiest manor.
To start the game, press the "START GAME" button on the main page of the game.

Level One - The Backwoods
Ok, at the start of each level you will appear infront of a cave (picture below). This is also where you'll end, but you will have collected a few potions on the way.

The Start and Finish Point of a level.

From this point, head right until you find the green potion (1/5). Now drop off the edge (take care not to land on the wocky) and head left to find the purple potion (2/5). Continue left off the edge (watch out for the acara) to find a red and yellow potion (4/5). Now finally, jump off the edge (not too far) to find the blue, and final, potion. If you miss the ledge, you will find yourself at the start. Just retrace the steps until you get it. Once you have 5/5 potions go back to the cave (should be under where you got the blue potion) and press space bar to finish. You will now have 190 points. If you have trouble understanding follow the tacky picture below. This, and level 2 will be the only levels I draw a diagram of, as they get far to complicated to map.

Level Two - Haunted Hunt

Obviously as you go the levels get harder. This however, is hardly at all harder than the first. Start this level by going a tiny bit to the left. Jump the gap and collect potion #1 (yellow). Now head left and drop the gap but dont forget to jump the wocky if it's in your way. Head right and collect potion #2. Red. Drop off the just to your right and be prepared to avoid another enemy. Head left and collect potion #3 (purple). From here you can see the green potion. Drop down and get it. Now head right, jump the gap and get potion number 5. Blue. Drop off the ledge to your right and finish the level. (You should have 380 points now).

Level 3 - Amazing Maze

On this level a new enemy is added. A kacheek. These are dangerous as they can go anywhere, and are faster than other enemies. Be careful one does not drop on you. Also, trees are added. You can stand on the top of these and on the side branch. Start this one by heading left to collect the green potion. Now go back to the cave and continue right off the edge. Go right and jump the wocky if it concerns you do a big jump off this ledge and try to land on top of the tree, or atleast on the platform the tree is on. Once on here you should see the yellow potion (2/5). Continue to your left and jump the small gap to collect the purple potion (#3!). Drop the small gap to your left and you should be able to see a blue potion behind a wall. How to get it? Well, head left and jump the gap to see the red potion (watch out for the Acara). Keep heading right until you get to the last (blue) potion (that's how!). To finish go back right and drop down the gap onto the cave. You should now have 570 points.

Level 4 - Hide-N-Seek
Note: on this level you have to collect 6 potions, instead of 5.

You'll start this level right next to a wall, so, go the only way possible: right. Drop off the edge and continue right to find a light green potion. Drop onto the tree, and then, watching out for the kacheek (if it's there), head left to collect the 2nd potion, a blue one. Now, from the very edge you can see a wocky below. Wait until it's heading right then drop. NOTE: This platform isn't too big so be careful. Jump the wocky and collect the thired potion, a dark green one. Now, head left, jump the wocky and the gap and collect the 4th potion. A red one. Now head right and drop off (be careful of the acara) to collect a yellow potion (#5). You can see a purple potion under you. To get this head right until the edge of the platform. Drop onto the ledge below and collect the final, purple potion. DO NOT DROP OFF THE RIGHT HERE OR YOU'LL FALL PAST THE CAVE! DROP OFF THE LEFT Now you have finished this level. You should have 860 points now.

Level 5 - The Gauntlet

The first thing to know about this level is BE CAREFUL, especially at the start. From where you begin, head left, BUT BEWARE OF THE WOCKY NEAR THE START. TAKE CARE TO JUMP! Once you are over the wocky continue left to find the first, light green potion. Continue left and drop down the gap, near the first potion. Now head right, jump the acara and collect potion number 2, the red one. Jump over the gap right of the red potion to find the blue potion. Now drop off the gap left of the blue potion and head right to find number 4, the yellow potion. Continue right of the yellow potion to find the final, purple potion. Once collected, drop the gap and you'll find yourself at the cave. Press space to finish the level. You should now have 1150 points.

Level 6 - Treetop Terror

To avoid difficulty on this level, it must be done quickly, before the techo can catch you. So, from the start, quickly head left and almost instantly drop down the gap to find the first two potions, right next to eachother. Watch out for the acara though. Also beware. A techo can land on you almost anytime without warning in this level. Once collected, head left over the edge to land on the tree. Now drop off the tree and continue right to find potion number 3 and 4, red and yellow. Keep going right and ignore the tree. Jump over the gap and then walk left off the edge (once you're over the right side of the gap) to land on a platform with the 5th potion, the light green one. On this platform head left and jump the gap to discover the final 2 potions, dark green and purple. Drop right off the platform to reach the cave and finish the level. You should now have 1540 points.

Level 7 - Neovian Nightmare

On this level you must collect 8 potions. Like the previous level, on this you must be careful for falling enimies. OK, from your start point head right until you're under the platform with the light green potion on it. Make sure the kacheek isn't jumping, then jump the gap, trying to make sure you dont land on the wocky. On this next platform, you'll find a purple potion, and a new one: orange. From here, jump the wocky and fall onto the below ledge. Head right on here to find the red potion. Head left and drop straight off the edge to land on a platform. Head left to get the blue potion. Now head right and jump right over the gap onto a platform containing the green potion (number 5). From here you can see the red potion below you. Drop off the gap and retrieve it. Head left and jump the gap onto the platform with the green potion on it. Now head left again and jump up onto the platform with the yellow potion on it. This is the last. Now drop off the ledge to the right to find yourself at the cave, which will finish the level. You should now have 2030 points.

Level 8 - Point Of No Return

Now, this level is just as easy as the last, however, there is one potion that stumped alot of people. From the starting point, go left and drop the gap (be careful here! There is a 50% chance the kacheek will choose to turn around at the edge and come back towards you.) to find 3 potions, a blue, red and light green one. Now, below you there is a yellow potion that looks impossible to get, as it is blocked from 3 sides, and the bottom being too high to jump. This is confusing. So, I'll show you how to get to it. (below)

You start here:

Then you must get here:

This is what the whole process should look like (explained below)

Confused? Well, you can basically walk through the wall. Go to the very edge above the wall you must walk through and press left, right, left, right, left, right until you are (literally) inside the wall. Once in this position hold right and you'll end up on this platform. This is difficult and requires practice. Anyway. Now you'll have 4/9 potions. From here check below you (hold down). If it is clear, drop to the left. Once you're down head right and drop to get the purple potion (#5). Jump the gap to your right and get the green potion (number 6) Now you must go left, off the platform and between the two walls (go to the right of them so you land on something).

Now get the potion on either side of the gap. Once you get the orange one, jump over the gap again and head right. Eventually you should see the red one below you. Collect it. Drop off to your left, but watch out for the Acara. Now head right and jump the gap. You'll see the cave above you. Keep going right and drop down the long gap between the two walls. Continue on going right and jump off the gap. You'll notice you are at the same place you collected the purple potion. Drop to the left then head right and drop between the two walls (picture above) When you land go between the small gap right next to you (if you did not drop through while falling). You will now see the cave. Finish the level. Congratulations, you have finished the hardest level in the game! You should now have 2620 points.
If you are having trouble following these instructions, neomail me, as it was a little difficult to understand.

Level 9 - Corridor Chaos

Now, this level, in my opinion is the hardest in the game. From where you start, you can see a red, and purple potion above you. Dont bother about these yet. From the start head right and walk straight off the edge. When this is done HOLD right, and you should fall onto a small platform with the red potion (Number 1) on it. Now, drop off the ledge to your left. If all goes well you'll land on a tree. Just incase you miss, be prepared to dodge an acara. You can see a yellow potion below (or beside) you. DONT GET IT YET. Instead, jump to your left, where you can see another tree. Climb the tree by jumping onto the small branch, then the top, and recieve potion 2, which is also red. Now drop below and get potion 3, blue. See the green potion to the right, collect this now (particually watch out for falling Techos and Kacheeks at this point). Now drop down to find potion 5 and 6, Orange and red. Now drop down the gap to the right. This is the hard part. You should be at the cave. DONT DROP YOUR POTIONS OFF. Instead, walk left, to the very edge of the platform. Wait until you see the Wocky on the platform to the left walking away from you, and jump and collect potion 7, green. Drop off this platform to the left and you should find yourself back on top of a tree. Now, it is time to get the yellow potion (number 8). From here you can see the last, purple potion. Collect it and drop down the gap to your left to finish the level. You should now have 3210 points.

Level 10 - Platform Panic

From the starting point you can see a Techo above you. Watch out for him. Naturally, head the opposite way to him. Left, until you can no more, and have obtained potion 1, yellow. Jump onto the ledge above you and jump again to the one higher. Note, this is a very small tunnel, so, if you see and enemy coming down run the other way. DONT JUMP Head down the end of the tunnel. And you'll see 4 potions above you. Collect them to bring your total to 5. From where you got the orange potion, jump the gap and cautiously head left (as there may be a kacheek), and eventually, you'll see a tree. Climb it to collect the 6th potion, green. Now, drop the left but stay as far right as possible.

When you land you should see a blue potion below, or next to you, depending on how far right you went. This is number 7. Look below you (hold down). Wait until the acara is heading left and then drop onto that platform. From here jump the the right and collect potion 8, the purple one. Continue right and collect potion 9 and 10, red and pink. See drop to the right? Get a big run up

and jump as far as possible.

Once you land you should be where you got the green potion, or over, depending on how hard you jumped. To get to the end head right until you reach a gap. Drop down it. (watch out for enimies) Now you should be able to see the end. Finsih and you should have 3900 points.

Level 11 - The Tunnels

Now, this level is almost as easy as the first, although a little longer. You start off just left of a drop. You must fall down (staying as close to the left wall as possible) shown below.

This will enable you to land on a tiny platform with the first potion on it (green). From here you can see the 2nd, a purple one. Collect it. Once again, from here you can see another potion, a yellow one. Collect this too. Now you can see the last in this drop. A red one (4/10). Drop and recieve it. This part is the hardest part on the level. You must drop onto the tiny platform just under you (shown below)

To do this drop just over the edge and instantly hold right. When you're on the tiny ledge you can see a difficult situation below.

There is hardly any room to get over the acara, so you must jump at just the right time. Jump about the time shown in the picture below, then as you're coming down hold right and when you land continue to hold right. Run straight into the gap (while still holding right) and you'll land where the green (5th) potion is. This is just like the situation before. Drop on alternating sides of the tunnel to collect potions, although this time there is only 2, a red and an orange one. When you land at the orange potion you'll be faced with a familier situation. Deja vu? Almost, but this time it's a little easier.

This time, follow the wocky (keeping a little distance), as it's going right and collect the pink potion on the way. Stop around 3cm before the end of the platform, and wait as the wocky turns around. When it does, jump over it (shown below), as far right as you can and you should land on a tiny platform joined to the wall.

From here you'll be able to see the 2nd last potion, the light blue one. Jump to it, retrieve it, and just below you should be the final, red potion, right next to the cave. Collect it and finish the level (not hard, was it?) You should now have 4590 points.

The Final Level - Chamber of Horrors

This isn't much harder than the last, but you must be very cautious, as this is the last level, you dont want to get a game over. From the start go right and drop down off the edge, between the two walls. Head right (be careful for the acara, jump over it). Along the way you should pick up the first potion, a red one. When you reach the end of this platform, drop, or jump off, but hold right, so you land on the platform with the pink potion on it (once you land dont hold right any longer or you'll walk off). To the right you can see a red potion, on the smallest "platform" (can it really be called this?) in the game. Jump onto it (make sure the wocky isn't underneath you, as it's easy to miss), and collect the red potion (3). Jump onto the ledge to the right and collect the 4th, blue potion. From here jump, once again, to the right, although a bit further this time, to collect the 5th potion, a green one. From this ledge, drop to the left, onto the platform below. Drop off this platform too. Walk left, into the small tunnel. (BE VERY CAREFUL TO RUN BACK OUT OF THE TUNNEL IF YOU MEET A TECHO HERE, THIS IS THE PLACE I NORMALLY DIE, DO NOT TRY JUMP OVER IT, THE TUNNEL IS TOO SMALL) When you reach the end of the tunnel, collect the potions and head back right (watch out for falling kacheeks or techos). Continue right until you walk off the edge, where you can see an orange potion. Collect it, and go left, to find a yellow potion. Continue left and drop off the edge, be careful for enemies, you wouldn't want to die about 10 seconds before the end of the game, would you? Collect the red potion, which is the last in the game, and head right to find the cave, and finish the game.
Congratulations! You have finished the game, and if you followed my guide correctly, you should have the maximum point amount, 5180.

Tropheys

Like all game, Bruno's Backwood Breakaway has three tropheys. A gold, silver, and bronze.

As this game has a certain limit of points (5180) the whole highscores has 5180 points, but, does this mean everybody gets a trophey? No, it doesn't read tiedscore's petpage. NEW: the tied score system has changed. From what I can gather, it sounds like anybody who has sent a score of 5180 will recieve a gold trophey. (Not Confirmed. Doesn't work for me..)

Well, that is the end of my guide. Good luck on playing. Hope you win a trophey! Thankyou for reading!

If you want to give feedback or suggestions neomail me.
