Welcome to Care of Magical Creatures! I'm Professor Myst. House Points will be added to the totals on the guild every Sunday. Lessons will also be updated on Sundays. I understand that real life will always come before the guild, so House Points will never be deducted if you miss a lesson.
This term, we will be covering magical birds!
Lesson 1: Phoenix
The Phoenix is a large bird, about the size of a swan, with bright red and gold feathers. The beak and talons are also gold. They are very gentle creatures, though they still have an XXXXX rating because there are very few that have been tamed. Phoenixes are found in China, India, and Egypt where they nest in the mountains.
As a Phoenix ages, it starts to look rather scruffy until one day they burst into flames. From the ashes, a chick hatches and the Phoenix is reborn. They also have other magical abilities, such as healing tears and the ability to carry a large amount of weight while flying. Their tail feathers are used as wand cores as well. They can also appear and disappear at will in a burst of flames. The last magical ability they have is that their song gives hope to people who hear it.
