VOTE FOR ME THIS WEEK, PUNK.

| Introduction |
As you enter the small lounge in front of you, decorated in colorful neon lights that spell out CantiNeo, you are immediately entranced. Soft flourescent lights create a calming, purple glow, mixed with the smoke of the kitchen area and the stage effects. The stage itself features a band of black-clad pets; the lead singer is a beautiful fire xweetok.
She is much more entrancing than the atmosphere, or even than the soft, yet savage melody that she sings along to. You feel compelled to listen to her, and without thinking, you take a seat at one of the round tables closest to the front stage.
Crazy ride, crazy ride,
Fallin' in a crash to the other side.
The hills are high, and the streets are wide,
And the ocean sings with its crazy tide.

Xoom: That's what I'm talkin' about. -steals microphone- My name's...-microphone makes high-pitched noise- AHEM. My name's Xoomix, or Xoom for short. But you probbly didn't need an introduction. I -am- famous throughout Neopia. You might've heard one of my songs on the radio, or seen me on one of my free days skatin' around or playin' guitar in the middle of Neopia Central. -pause- ...what?! What do you MEAN you've never heard any of my songs?! Not until just now? Oh come on...Catch Me If You Can, Crazy Ride, I'm on Fire...no pun on that last one intended. Okay, maybe a little. Crazy ride, crazy ride,
Fallin' in a crash to the other side.
The hills are high, and the streets are wide,
And the ocean sings with its crazy tide.
Xoom: Now are you shocked you haven't heard of me? -she beams proudly- I'm mostly a solo musician. We have auditions for drummers and bassists every now and then. -pause- Well, if you're interested in all the boring stuff, I'm 22 years young, I OBVIOUSLY have a love for music, as well as a less obvious love for skateboarding and rollerblading. I'm a fan of cheese in any form, in addition to spicy food, and I'll try most anything at least once. I guess that means I'm a risk-taker, but I just like livin' life...I mean, you only get one chance, you know?

| Interview at Tyrannian Concert Hall |
The Neopian Times, Issue 328
New Band 'Zooms' Its Way to the Top
Article by Hog Reynolds Magstaff
It's not everyday that you see new talent in Neopia, especially not one that is so set on rising to the top as this one. As I was strolling around the Tyrannian Concert Hall, preparing for Sticks n' Stones to go on stage, pen in hand, I heard their opening act blaring from even outside of the arena. Their sound was upbeat, with a chiseled melody in their fast-paced lyrics, and interesting guitar riffs between verses. What struck me as most interesting was their lead singer; the vocals were of a very confident-sounding female.
My eyes landed on the stage as I entered the hall: there I saw four neopets: a shadow shoyru, a red tonu, a split kyrii, and, the vocalist, a fire xweetok, dressed in black and red, and decked out in a variety of accessories. She was the only feminine one of the group, but that didn't mar her abilities or confidence. It's worth mentioning that she also played the part of rhythm guitar, on a red, glittery instrument strapped around her shoulder. The band played skillfully...their sound was so put together! I momentarily forgot about my editorial on Sticks n' Stones. I HAD to talk to this band!
I found out later that the name of this unique group was Zoom, Zoom!. I wasn't surprised to find out that the name originated from the fire xweetok. Moments after they exited the stage (with thunderous applause, mind you...no one expected the opening act to be worth more than a nod), I caught up to her and asked for a few words. She seemed very excited that her band was getting media attention, and I have to say, I was excited to be giving it. We sat down backstage among a pile of instruments in their cases, and we began.
--------
So, Xoomix--
You can just call me Xoom...-smiles-
Oh, yes. So Xoom, it's obvious that the band, Zoom, Zoom!, is named after you. Did you get the band together?
Well actually, it's not really a sort of permanent setup band-wise. It's named after me because I write the guitar, bass, melody...it's basically a project of mine. There's lots of people interested in playing in a band though, and auditions are held for people to do the instruments.
Wow...so, it's kind of a one-man band...er, I mean, one-woman band. -coughs-
Sorta. -smiles again-
How did you get into the business then? Have you always been musically inclined?
Yep! I started playin' guitar a few years ago. Before that, I was always singin', ever since I was really young. Friends and random people told me I had a nice voice, and that I was "spunky." When I started playin' guitar with it, people took notice, and I got an offer by a really small record company to do some acoustic stuff. That's basically where it all started.
Very interesting! What kind of things did you write about at first?
Same things I write about now, kinda. Love, loss, being fearless...that last one's real good writing material. Girls love bein' able to identify with someone else and look up to them in a sense...not just girls though, I guess. If I can inspire anyone to be more confident and do what they want, I'm in the right business.
So, you work to inspire people?
Pssshyeah! That's the most rewarding feeling you can get! Way better than money.
I agree. I noticed you have a very unique style to inspire with...where did you get your influences?
Hmm. Well, I've always been a fan of Moehawk and Twisted Roses...I'd suppose my influence would come mostly from the second one, being that they are an all-girl band. The only one, in fact, in Neopia.
Do you think it's harder to get into the music business being a girl?
-is irritated- Well I don't see why it WOULD. As if women are less capable of working hard or sounding good...-pause- I think the business is biased about female talent.
-becomes cautious- Well...er, no matter what gender a uh...aspiring musician is...-clears throat- what advice would you give them for trying to get into the business?
Well, aside from needing talent, you need drive. You have to be super dedicated to music, it has to come first. And if you're looking for money or fame, you probbly won't go far. You should want to do it for free...THEN you know you'll make it somewhere.
I see. Oh, I almost forgot what time it is! I'm supposed to do an editorial on the next band playing, but I couldn't resist getting an interview. Thank you so much for your time Xoom.
Anytime, guy!
