Hello and welcome to Tangle Buddies! The one and only Homestuck chat group situated on the Fan Clubs board. This page should tell you everything you need to know about everything. Enjoy, and, let's be tangle buddies!


Oh and we'll probably update this from time to time with news updates and maybe to make the layout look less horrendous when not viewed in exactly the right conditions.

A new member is always great! If you're interested in our chat group, and you see a board up, feel free to come and say hello. But you do kind of need to know who everyone is, and chat groups tend to get big, and there are only so many Homestuck characters for us to roleplay. So, at your nearest convenience, we'd really appreciate it if you filled out this member form so that we can put you on the member list. That way we can neomail you if something's ever up or we want to invite you to some super-cool thing, and, if you're roleplaying, you don't have to worry about twenty other people coming and taking your character because they thought no one else was roleplaying them.


It's a pretty simple form. Just neomail this to bluhbluhhugefish with subject title "TaB! Member form":

Okay, but I want to roleplay, and who hasn't been taken yet?


We'll tell you as soon as we know! Right now this section is empty because the current members still need to send in their member forms, but as soon as everyone's accounted for I'll be able to tell you for certain. For right now, though, we're pretty chill about doubling, so as long as we don't have 20 Daves out of 30 members, it's fine if some people take the same character. We might be stricter about this later though.

Yeah we don't have a lot of those. But hearsay says that all the coolkid chat groups have them, so, hey, maybe we'll put some down as well. Follow these and you're golden.


1.	If you're roleplaying, try to use your quirk correctly. John doesn't l33tspeak and Terezi doesn't speak normally. And if you're OOC or not roleplaying entirely do keep yourself legible. We have experience with hard-to-read messages of course but it still does break the flow of conversation if we're trying to puzzle over whether that word was supposed to be "because" or "beasts".
 2.	Don't be a jerk. 3.	This isn't a rule, but: A lot of us are in the guild "Homestuck", but it's not affiliated with our chat group, you don't have to join it, and even if you do you're not going to get anything out of it. No one posts anything on there at the moment, it's basically just a profile decoration. 4.	Follow TNT rules. Yeah, this one's basically a given. 5.	One character per person (for now). 6.	Please don't disappear off the face of the earth without saying anything to any of us.

Q: What's "Homestuck", exactly?
 
A: This is a good question with a long answer. It's a webcomic that is also a quasi-interactive fiction novel, a flash movie, and occasionally a flash game. It has 3,764 pages as of May 16, 2011 and it averages around 7 new pages a day. Since the webcomic started on April 13, 2009, 13 full-length-or-longer official albums have been published to accommodate the original music that often accompanies a new Homestuck page. And that doesn't even start on the massive (I'm not kidding about the word MASSIVE) amount of fancontent that the Homestuck fan community has generated – fanfiction, fanart, fanmusic, fangames, fan voice acting, even fan interactive adventures of their own.
 
Actually, that doesn't answer the question of what Homestuck is actually about. Homestuck is about:
 
-	Four kids 
-	A world-changing game 
-	Twelve aliens 
-	Time travel 
-	Time travelling stuffed animal bunnies 
-	Nic Cage in copious amounts 
-	A juggalo alien cult 
-	Bizarro-vampires 
-	Fish puns 
-	Creepy puppets 
-	Paradox time siblings 
-	Dogs wearing sunglasses 
-	Video game mechanics 
-	Video game music 
-	Video game jokes 

TL;DR: KIDS AND FUN. And PLOT TWISTS. Alternatively, it's like LOST, but funny.
 
The fandom is a mixed bag, but it's generally really entertaining. There are fan adventures (of the same style of Homestuck) out there that are as good or better than Homestuck itself, the fan music is really really good, and the terrible OCs are as numerous as they are hilarious.


Q: Hey, so why do your roleplayers type so funny/dumb/noobish?
 
They're most likely trolls. As in, a group of alien characters whose race is literally called "trolls". They live on Alternia, and part of their culture is to have a unique way of typing, or a "typing quirk". It's just a part of roleplaying Homestuck.


Q. What does "Tangle Buddies" even mean?
 
It's a sort of catch phrase from the fictional show-within-a-webcomic "Squiddles!" from Homestuck. "Becoming tangle buddies", or "tangling", is basically just how jellyfish-like squiddley creatures hug and/or attack.
Any alternate definitions you can think of for the phrase "tangle buddies" are probably just you imagining things. This is a kid's site, you know!

 
Q: Can I roleplay a fantroll/an AU character?
 
Go ahead! As long as you're fun to play with, we'd love to have you. General common sense roleplaying rules apply as you'd imagine: you know, no godmodding, no Sues, etc etc. We have a fantroll critique board up on the offsite if you'd ever like constructive criticism, as well.


Q: Can I roleplay a character outside of Homestuck?
 
Generally no, this is primarily a Homestuck chat group. If you want to pull out your Problem Sleuth or roleplay Andrew Hussie himself, though, that's cool with us. Anything MSPA is fine.


Q: Can I be part of Tangle Buddies! without roleplaying a character?
 
Sure, we're cool with that. The more, the merrier!
