Cora's Adventures: The treasure hunt By Lizkidaraine
*Yawn* Coranably woke from her mid-morning nap, refreshed and excited. She had the greatest idea! She had dreamt that she was a pirate on a treasure hunt. Now she may not be a real pirate but she can certainly go hunting for treasure, or so she reasoned. Jt, JT!" She yelled bounding into the next room. "Jt, want to go treasure hunting?"
*Yawn* Jt stirred and opened an eye. "Korbats are nocturnal, Cora, maybe *Yawn* later… Zzz." Jt quickly fell back to sleep, snoring loudly. No matter. Cora thought. Maybe Rae will go. Her spirit for adventure renewed she quickly headed over to Xeraelan's.
Cora arrived to find Rae sitting outside under a tree enjoying an apple. "Hey Rae." She called. "Do you want to go treasure hunting with me?" Rae smiled excitedly. "Can I pretend to be a pirate?" Cora nodded laughing as Rae jumped around. She liked his enthusiasm. Soon the two of them were off to Krawk Island.
Soon they found themselves in a quiet albeit spooky side of Krawk Island. Cora walked along the beach turning over every rock she could find, checking over her shoulder at every mysterious noise. Rae, was digging holes in the sand yelling "Arrrr!" every once in awhile. You could see where he had been by all the piles of sand everywhere.
Have you found anything?" Cora asked. Rae looked up, he was munching on something. "Arrrh, juss a crabwett." He replied with a mouthful. Cora rolled her eyes and turned over another rock expecting, well, just what she had been finding; Nothing.
Under the rock was a odd shaped hole, it wasn't very big but it was promising. "Hey Rae, your better at digging, come look at this." She said peering into the hole. It was of course to dark to see. Rae hurried over and with barely a glance he started digging. "I hope it be another crablett." He mused with a grin. "Rae, were hunting for treasure, not dinner." Cora reminded, Rae shrugged and continued digging.
*rumble, rumble*
Did ye hear that, matey?" Rae said pausing in the middle of moving sand out of the way. Cora half frowned. "I wonder what it could be. Maybe we should stop." She was beginning to sound worried. "Nonsense! A pirate never gives up on his treasure!" Rae said rather loudly and continued digging.
*rumble, hiss*
Rae, I really think we should stop." Cora said nervously. "But I almost be through, the hole is getting bigger!" Rae replied digging faster. The noises grew louder, and when the hole was big enough, Rae crawled in with his paws first. Cora held her breath. She was so worried for friend. He is being so careless, she thought, I never should have brought him here.
Ouch!" Rae yelled scrambling out of the hole. His paw was red and throbbed painfully. "Oh Rae are you okay?" Cora asked giving his paw a good thorough inspection. "Yeah, I be fine, but ye better take a look inside that hole. Something be guardin' whatever is in there. It felt like a treasure chest to me, mate." Rae nursed his paw and nodded Cora on. She wasn't about to go sticking her paws in dangerous holes.
She peered down the hole; she had practically crawled inside before she saw it. He was right, it was a treasure chest. But she didn't see anything guarding it. She crawled in a little more until she was right next to it. "Well look at that." Cora slowly cradled the chest and backed out of the hole.
What did ye find?!" Rae asked peering at the chest. "Hey why didn't you get bit by whatever was guarding it?" he asked suddenly. "Rae, you know our owner keeps petpets too, I'm surprised you don't know." Cora replied stroking the top of the chest. It opened with a purr, smiling its toothy smile, bits of treasure hanging from its teeth. "It's a Cofferling, oh this is a great treasure. Isn't it awesome?
Rae reached out to pet it and the Cofferling snapped at him. "Not so much." He mused. They both laughed and headed home, talking about their adventure, and how they would tell it.

350 Meters By Joshjdb1984
Get ready..." the announcer, a red Techo, called out.
The yellow Poogle tilted his ears back to reduce wind resistance and stared down the racetrack. It went straight for a while, and then turned to go around in a circle, eventually ending at where it started. Between him and the end stood 350 meters of track, planted on a large cloud near Faerie City. Along the way, there were a few hurdles that he would have to jump.
Around him, all kind of Neopians, mostly old ones, watched the races. They would drink their coffee and bet their neopoints on a Poogle. They all knew he was the best to bet on.
His real name, Moogi, was not known to the spectators at the track. To them, he was just Poogle One, the lightning quick Poogle that was the favorite to win and had 3:1 odds posted. He had talked to the committee if they could let the spectators know the Poogle racers by their name, rather than a number. But they refused his request, although he had tried multiple times.
He hated to be just a number. A number doesn't mean anything. For him, his name was much more important, and he felt that the rest of the Poogles around him thought the same.Get set..." the announcer continued, holding a Rainbow Gun high up in the air.
He pushed the thoughts out of his head, or at least to the very back, and focused on the race before him, bowing his head and preparing to run.
Beside him, he could see Vic, also known as Poogle Two, trying to keep his mind on the race. Unfortunately, a cute female Poogle in the stands caught Vic's eye. Moogi giggled, making Poogle Three, also known as Claire, look towards him. She was standing between Vic and Poogle Four. Once their eyes met, they both quickly turned away. Claire looked a bit nervous, and he knew that she was dreading the jumps she would have to make.
Poogle Four, whose name was Bolt, looked like the veteran he was, and stared calmly at the track before him. He knew the track so well, he could probably tell you about any and all cracks that have formed on the clay below them. He was probably the best threat for Moogi, but he believed in himself. Poogle Five, whose name was Jojo, was muttering to herself, and Moogi guessed that she was probably regretting that last piece of cake she ate during the break. Moogi knew that she loved cakes, and it gave her 9:1 odds thanks to her weight.Go," the announcer yelled, firing the Rainbow Gun into the air. All the Neopets on the stands cheered as the five Poogles took off.
Moogi was concentrating on keeping his legs moving and getting to the first jump, and staying in his lane during the first turn. The green bar approached, and he cleared the jump easily. There was a cheer from the crowd, most probably because of Moogi. Suddenly, there was a crash behind them, and Moogi glanced back to see that Claire had caught her hind leg on the hurdle and gone down with it. She shook it off and tried her best to catch up.
Moogi glanced next to him, and could tell that Vic's mind was still on the female Poogle in the stands, and was falling behind the pack. Some of the spectators were yelling at him to get his mind back in the race and win it. Nearby, Bolt was huffing and puffing, trying to keep up, but beginning to tire because of his age.
As Moogi jumped the second hurdle at the halfway mark, he reflected on how he had come to be a participant there. Since he was young, he had enjoyed watching the other Poogles race, especially Bolt. When he had free time, he spent it running. Racing the wind, a Pteri flying above him, the family Doglefox, anything and everything that was moving. Trying to be like his heroes.
As he was still running in the track, a lot of thoughts passed through his mind. He was now approaching another hurdle, each time getting closer and closer to finish line. But in his mind, thoughts rushed in and out.
He first thought was when Neopets admired him, and said he should join the school track team. Moogi did, and he was quickly noticed and gained a lot of popularity as being one of the fastest freshmen there, and the teacher in charge admired him. Some of his older teammates didn't want their times beaten, but he stayed true to his dream.
The committee at the race track noticed his achievements, and asked him to try out. He went to the track and did the best he could. After being drafted as a backup, to run if one of the starters was too injured or tired, he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming one of the five starters and making a lot of Neopians rich. He still had speed, and could easily jump the hurdles...
When he thought of the hurdles, his mind snapped into reality just in time to see the last hurdle right in front of him! With no time to dodge or jump, he ran into it head on, knocking both him and the hurdle over. Sweat was running down his ears, making the case even more embarrassing. Some of the spectators groaned as they saw the money they bet on him slip away. Some others just yelled at him, while a minority cheered for Vic. He saw Vic passing him quickly, while the other three followed, not even giving him a glance. Moogi picked himself up and ran the rest of the way, but he ended in last place.
He walked over to the podium to see that the winner of this race had turned out to be Vic, followed by Bolt and Claire. Moogi stood beside with Jojo and watched them hold up their trophies, even though they were mostly for show. The committee couldn't afford to give them a trophy for each race to take home, since they ran so many in a day. So they never kept the trophies.
As he walked back into the break room, Moogi was angry at himself. He had been ahead of everyone, easily winning the race. If only he had kept his head in the race and hadn't started thinking about his past, he would have been at the top of that podium. Being distracted was Poogle Two's job, not his. His thoughts were broken when Jojo put a paw around his shoulders.Don't worry about it. It's not long until the next race," she said.
Moogi gave a smile, as he realized Jojo was right. Each race took approximately five minutes, and then they got a ten minute break in between, longer if they felt that they needed a backup to step in. The Poogle-in-training got practice, the starters got the rest they needed, and the underdogs had a better chance at winning.
But after the break, there would be another race that Moogi would run in, as he didn't do so well in the previous one. And in that race, there would be another shot to get closer to glory. Moogi knew he would get there.
350 meters at a time.

The Test By Reno _reno_
The full autumn moon smiled down upon the field below, casting a soft, pale light across the land. The tall grass swayed in the cool night breeze, dancing in the spotlight from above. Crickets chirped their approval of the routine as they added their music to the night's entertainment. One by one the stars were roused from their slumber; an audience of untold numbers. The trees raised their branches to show their appreciation of the performance when the grass suddenly stiffened as the crickets cut off the music. The soft snap of a twig being crushed sent ripples over the ground, springing alarms and bringing life to fear.
Ignorant of what he had interrupted, the Lupe padded swiftly through the field. His black pelt blended in with the night, making him all but invisible to the unobservant eye. Pausing, he tentatively lifted his right paw and sniffed the air. No familiar scent drifted through his nostrils.
Shaking his head and whimpering quietly, he continued onward_ She had to be in the area. He was positive she had come this way despite the faintness of her scent. Halting at the edge of the forest that bordered the west end of the field, he peered through the mist that wound itself through the trees. He had heard stories of this place. None of them good. His mother cautioned him to heed the tales of magic and the seductive words the trees whispered.
But he had to find her. Tonight. His light amber eyes flicked from tree to tree as he shifted his weight. His tail wagged slowly back and forth, steady as the ticking of a clock. His whole body trembled as muscles quivered with uncertainty. His teeth flashed in the light of the moon as his upper lip curled into a snarl. He refused to show any signs of fear.
Standing tall and holding his head high, he marched into the forest. Her life ranked higher than his safety. Leaves crunched under his paws and off to his left an owl hooted, angry at being disturbed by the noise. The musty and damp air softly called out to him in greeting, tickling his nose and laughing as he sneezed.
Warily, the Lupe pressed forward, his ears up, his posture tense. Slinking through the surprisingly thin underbrush, he kept his nose to the ground. The mouth-watering scent of Chia mixed with the revolting musk of Skeith produced a frustrated growl. Her smell failed to reveal itself to him. One misread look had shattered his world and now he was desperately trying to find the pieces again. Despair stroked his heart and brought a grimace to his muzzle. Were his attempts in vain?
His burning ache for her approval drove her to this place. Fault pointed its finger harshly at him so he must rebuild the trust he unknowingly demolished. She deserved at least a final goodbye if nothing else from him. The slow drawl of a stream interrupted his musings. Lifting his head, the Lupe scanned the muddy bank for prints. His patience was soon rewarded with the sight of a single paw print slightly smaller then his own. Hope flared within him once again. Sniffing the mark, he then turned his gaze northward. The scent was cold enough that it lacked any familiarity to him, but he was determined to find its owner.
What lay beyond the borders of the Haunted Woods very few Neopians could describe. Fear of the unknown prickled the fur on the Lupe's back. But taking a deep breath, he hurried forward. The trees grew closer together and the air threatened to suffocate him with its dank smell. After traveling three miles and finding no more clues, the Lupe came to a small clearing. He slowed his stride and sat down with a sigh. He failed her. Throwing his head back, an anguished howl echoed through the forest.
Hush, my love," a soft voice purred.
The Lupe jumped to his feet. "Lareyna?
The figure of a Striped female Lupe slowly made itself clear as Lareyna stepped out of the mist. "You passed the test, Rivyn," she smiled. "Now let's go home.

The Process By Liz kidaraine
Am I lost? Am I forgotten? Pounded away like something rotten. Nothing could be worse then fate that is a mystery. After all this time, all that is just history, to fade away like a distant memory. Shall I wait quietly in my dark cage Give it time, thats what they say.
The light is blinding, but that gives hope Someone to save me. Oh, could it be so? They look at us all, for there is so many, Who will he choose? Could it be me? My heart skips a beat, he glanced my way, I put on a smile as it could just be, for his glance is lasting, he's looking at me! In a moments breath, as quick as it begun It is all over! My adoption is done! Happy as I can be, here I am with my new family

The Wheel of Excitement By April arva9
Spin spin spin the wheel of excitement,
Lots of wonderful prizes await,
You may be gifted with faerie enlightenment,
The Pant Devil may steal your plate.
A lightning strike may come out of the sky,
Or Jhudora you may hit,
A horrible disease, those watery eyes,
A special item you may get.
A rainbow of opportunities awaits your hand,
Just turn the wheel and see,
But remember the original plan,
To get that confounded avi!

A Grundo Limerick By Eleni elliejelly87
There once was a grundo named Miles
Who loved watching the show, the X-Files
So he sat on his couch
And he screamed out "OUCH
Then he remembered he was suffering from piles
