Xalynx's Card Game Night

It started out as a one-time thing. Ray (my Owner; I refer to her as Boss or by "Ray") and I invited Marja, some of her brothers, and several of my siblings over to celebrate the almost-completion of the Meridell Neohome.

It was pretty popular. So we decided that it should be a weekly event.

It got more popular. We'd end up with at least a few non-resident pets from both families at the house every night! So I informally made the Card Game Night an event that would happen "Any time more than 4 non-resident pets were visting." The Resident pets, by the way, are myself, Nekulvor, Ambylur, and Dactyllic. Nidryn is usually included in that count as well, as her room is still incomplete.

It's called "Card Game Night" but in actually, it's not always held at night, and it's not always card games. We also play board games like Battlefield, Checkers (also called Draughts), Where's my Ankle, and "Whoops, my bad." Ray usually tries to squeeze in a Jigsaw Night here and there, and our Team Games seem to double the crowd as soon as it's announced.

Other game themes that we've done include:
• Run-around games (Hide & Seek, Tag, etc.)
• Pencil-and-paper games (Tic-tac-toe, Cliffhanger)
• Short Roleplaying Games (we start a new "story" every time, though people often keep the same starting character sheet to save on time!) • Scavenger Hunts
• Guessing Games

And if we find ourselves with a crowd early in the day, sometimes we'll play Capture the Flag.

My personal favorite game is played every time we have a Game Night. It's called "Help clean up this mess or get a frying pan to your forehead.

I came up with it myself. I'm sure you can guess the rules.

There are some nights where I manage to shift the informal party to some other Neohome so I can watch my Food Network reruns in peace. I've resigned myself to the necessity of taping every episode of Iron Chef and Good Eats; otherwise I wouldn't get to see them at all!

Now, you may wonder why I put up with my three rooms, garden, and the "family room" of the neohome being overrun by random Neopets almost every night of the week? Two words: Captive Audience.

You see, I like to cook, and I cook very well. But what I like even more than cooking is experimental cooking. I test my "practice runs" of various foods on the visitors who come to the Card Game Night. There are "standard nibbles" as well, but I make sure everyone samples the latest experiment before I allow them to leave.

I'm usually up and about the entire evening, making sure no fights erupt and that no one is feeling left out. There's usually a different game going on at every table, and I can always find room for another!

Here's the disclaimer. Xalynx's Card Game Night is not an actual RP; it's usually an informal private event between the pets of Rayinte's extended family, Xba's extended family, and friends of the pets of both families. Certain pets have been granted "standing invitations" and they can feel free to claim to have visited.

If the owner of a pet with a "standing invitation" decides to write a story or summary of the events that transpired here, it would be *appreciated* if the story was "run by" Rayinte before posting it (if only to make sure the names are correct and the pets are close enough to their normal behaviors). These pets are also permitted to bring their petpets and/or a guest, as long as they can be kept under control.
