Personality: Xakuto is a listener, more so than a talker. He can go for days without speaking a word, just listening to the sounds of his surroundings. Xakuto has a dark outlook on things and keeps to himself rather than seeking out friends. He has trouble socializing with others and usually has a hard time figuring out what to say -- however, this may be due to all his time as an outcast.

Xak is also one of those people who can't stand for anyone to touch his stuff. Had he a lot of possessions, he would never let anybody go near them, and would hoard them away. =P

I'm not even sure how it happened myself. Cumulluss was the first true friend I ever made in Shukumei, and with a simple meeting at the Mizuumi we became inseparable. At first I found her annoying -- the energetic, bouncy, happy-go-lucky types usually do -- but I gradually found myself attracted to her. She's brought out the best in me rather than the worst and now we're especially close.

Story

Prologue

Long, long ago, hundreds of years back, at a time when spirits and magic were flourishing in the land, there was a Lupe demon and his name was Noga. Noga enjoyed causing others pain and suffering and was constantly causing havoc in the land by spreading all sorts of disasters. These included fires, earthquakes, fissures, disease, and other such evil things.

No one knew what his ambitions were but, after many years of suffering, they decided to put a stop to it. The inhabitants of the Old World came together -- Lupes, sages and wizards alike -- and sealed Noga away, far into the depths of space and time itself. Not even a powerful demon like himself could break out of this seal except for one point, and one point only -- the time of the New Year, when the seconds of the old year slide into the new. If a Lupe child was born at this exact time then Noga would be able to break free and possess this child, once again finding way into the world.

This warning was passed down many generations and so Lupes were careful to make sure that their children were conceived at other times of day. But, like all ancient lore, there were a skeptic few who doubted the legitimacy of the tale and the warning was passed down less and less, until gradually it faded from the Lupes' minds altogether.

And that, dear guest, is where our story begins.

Chapter 1

Xakuto was born into the Rikhal Pack, a prosperous pack of Lupes who lived deep in the forests of Alahan. They lived hundreds of years after the sealing of Noga and most of them didn't even remember the old tale, all but for one Lupe -- Karken, one of the Pack's Elders.

He warned the Lupes about the dangers of having pups during the New Year's, but many brushed off his statements as pure rabbit fodder. Really, who wouldn't after not hearing the story since they were younger?
