So who's this 'Tarla' character?
Tarla is the pink ixi that runs the Shop of Mystery. She is also the 'mascot', you could say, of the Neopets Toolbar. The toolbar is free for all to download, and 1-6 times a day, the 'Orb' icon on the toolbar will flash (yellow, from the usual blue) and any user who is on can click on the flash alert, taken to a link (different each time) and receive a free item once per day. Anyone who visits the link at that 3-5 minutes that the Tarla Orb Alert is flashing, can also obtain an item (ie. you do not need to personally have the sidebar to access the link and obtain items. Often the neoboards will have threads to alert and link people to Tarla's giveaways). This means huge deflation on sometimes rare items. So I have compiled a list of things that may have once been profitable to RS, but are now possibly big losses.
I'm fluffy, pink, and mean to all restockers. Hear me rawr. RAWR.
Note: When Tarla is giving away items through the toolbar, there are two phases. In the first phase, Tarla gives a way the SAME higher rarity item to everyone who visits the link - referred to by most as the "Main". After a while, Tarla gives away various different slightly rarer items. This is also known as Tarla's "droppings" (And no, not the dung sort, the sort that you drop x'D) Everyone who visits the Tarla link slightly later (ie. during the "dropping" phase) won't necessarily get the same item.
A few little things...
07/01/08: Welcome to Tarla'd 2.0 - Hopefully this layout has cured any woes present in the previous layout - and I think this is easier on the eyes as well! A huge thank you to Kendall for helping me launch this! There really shouldn't be any errors in this layout, but if there are any issues, please let me know (:
Listed by shop and rarity: All the items listed on Tarla'd are sorted by the shop you can restock them at, in order of shop ID numbers. Within every list of each shop, ther are ordered by the rarity of the items to help explain the Danger Zones.
Danger Zones: Items from a specific shop (such as Books, Stamps and Plushies) are given out quite often. With most shops, a certain range of rarities seem to be more commonly gifted out. We call these ranges Danger Zones, because it is quite likely when a new item is given, it is one belonging to that range of rarities. Restockers and hoarders might want to sell items belonging to the danger zones in case they get handed out by Tarla. Collectors on the other hand might want to wait until they get given by Tarla, but know that you can as well be waiting years. Please note, with Danger Zones, we are simply alerting Neopets users of the most popular rarities given out by Tarla, and are in no way sure of what may be given out.
Dates: All dates are in Day/Month/Year format - I realise there isn't an internationally shared common format, but it is too much to write it out in full, sorry for any inconvenience.
The asterisk (*) next to the rarity of an item: While most items given out by Tarla aren't profitable to restock, some still are. These few items have an asterisk next to the rarity. This does not apply to the "Unrestockables" section.

Contact Me - Sarah, not Tarla...
If you see anything Tarla'd that is not on my list, pop me a NeoMail, with the accurate item name. If you have any other feedback (or see something that shouldn't be on the list) feel free to send a neomail along as well :) BUT BEFORE you NeoMail me, read this: Not all items shown in the spinning image is given out, so unless you have recieved the actual item, DO NOT NEOMAIL IT TO ME! I have a LOT of difficulty trying to figure out items that have actually been Tarla'd, and items that have just been shown in the picture wheel. Please also note, I do NOT list items purchased from Tarla's Shop of Mystery, but rather that from the Neopets Toolbar. Anyone found to be purposefully sending fake reports will be blocked, as it causes me a lot of trouble - if you are unsure for any reason about your report, please let me know in the mail! Thanks to Kendall with her fantabulous elite coding skillz who helped me tremendously with the launch of Tarla'd 2.0 (without her, there would be quite a few funky bits in the code...) and also to Pasqui for helping me with the original Tarla'd layout and the banner and everyone for the constant item updates, including detailed profit comparisons and great feedback ^^
Anyone found stealing the content or layout for this page without permission will be in the pits and will have to fear the wrath of Tarla, Sarah, and perhaps that red cybunny that thanks people for sending 'requests' =/

Tarla in the Editorial
Hi TNT! Lots of people on the boards got starry paint brushes from Tarla. I wasn't online when she was giving them out... isn't it a little bit unfair?? ~[removed]
Ahem. *gets up on soapbox*
To put it plainly, life isn't fair. We also understand that Neopets isn't "real life" but 100% fairness in all aspects of even your Neopian life can lead to economical stagnation and lack of interest. Let's assume that, in order to be "fair," we gave a starry paint brush to everyone, since they might have missed the Tarla event. Starry PBs would now be utterly worthless, and starry Neopets so common that they were no longer any thing special. To make Neopets truly fair, we would have to give an item to everyone when one person got something, say for winning a Storytelling contest, for example. What, then, would be the motivation to enter contests? Or what about newbies? Is it unfair that they start with 1,000 Neopoints and a Newbie Pack while there are users with millions and millions of Neopoints? If everyone had millions, what reason would there be to play at all? Just remember, Neopets is a game, but it also has a real economy and society, which is why it really can't be 100% fair to everyone in all aspects. Besides, though you might have missed something now, you may get a nice prize next time while others are offline.
*trips and falls off soapbox*
Is posting the link to Tarla (so that other people can get the prize) on the Neoboards against the rules? ~theemeraldp
No, we don't mind this. It's not a competition, and it's nice that some players are willing to help out others who may be unable to install the toolbar.
I was searching for some clothes for my Neopet to wear recently and noticed that a vast majority of them are way out of my price range. Are they always going to be this way? ~nalyd133
Aside from the rarity (and occasionally Tarla giveaways) we don't control the economy. The prices of items on the secondary market are driven by the users. So, while many of the new clothes have a somewhat low rarity, they are quite popular at the moment and Neopians are snatching them up, which keeps their prices rather high. Supply of these items is always increasing, though, since they're always restocking, so hopefully they'll drop in price soon enough. If you just can't wait, you may want to start saving and keep an eye on the Shop Wizard for a good deal!
When the Tarla alert goes off on the Neopets Toolbar, there is always a rush of people asking for the link on the Games and TOW boards. Is this fair? It seems to me that the Alert function should only be for the ones running the Toolbar. If you are running a browser that doesn't support it or refuse to have the Toolbar, should you be able to click a link and snag the prize? A user stated on the board that they would continue to post the link until TNT said it wasn't OK. Could you please clarify this? Thanks! (Please make this an anonymous question) ~[removed]
While we'd prefer it if you did use the toolbar (which is why we created the prize system in the first place), we do realise that there are people who simply aren't able to install it even if they wanted to (especially because a Mac version is not yet available). The only way for these people to even have a remote chance of participating is if some kind person gave out the link, so we have allowed it. This may change in the future, of course, if the toolbar becomes available to all, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. :)
What happens to your computer when you download the Tarla Toolbar? I read on another website that it tracks your internet history so advertisers will know what type of ads appeal to you so you're more compelled to click, & someone else said its got spyware attached, & that's the reason you're promoting it so much with free items. I'd like to download the program & get expensive things, but I just want to know what really happens before I do so :P If you do publish this, please leave out my name. Thanks! ~[removed]
We asked the head honcho of the toolbar himself, and he explained there is absolutely no spyware in the toolbar, as clearly stated when you sign up. :) Nothing is tracked by the toolbar, and no individual data is stored. The toolbar does not have any hidden programs or the like that would harm your computer or track personal information.
I would just like to thank the person(s) who spent many sleepless nights to find a way to get my toes stepped on, coffee spilt all over me, and my computer over-run by my household minions... see, if I'm playing on Neopets and (like an idiot) I blurt out, "oh cool, Tarla just gave me (fill in the blank)," well, it's like a stampede of buffalo here with me getting knocked to the floor (usually with coffee or a diet dew in hand) by 3 kids and even hubby fighting to see who can log on next to scarf some goodies from Tarla. It used to be like that with Snowager, but now Tarla has taken his place. Any chance TNT can send me a couple more computers? Maybe Tarla can put them on the next toolbar alert? Or how about no weekend, school holidays, or giveaways after 4pm EST? Can you ask Lawyerbot if I have grounds to sue my family for personal injury or maybe destruction of property? My carpeting can't just be changed with the click of a box like the Neohomes. :| ~insanes_silent_rage
Lawyerbot says, "Thank you for writing. Please wait while I select the most appropriate response... TNT is not responsible for stained carpets due to overzealous players. You may, however, feel free to force your family to scrub the carpet. We recommend duct tape if you have any further desire to verbally acknowledge that Tarla is giving out prizes. Also, don't run with scissors. Response Concluded." Disclaimer: The opinions expressed by Lawyerbot do not represent the opinions of NeoPets, Inc. or any of its principals.
Frequently Asked Questions
Have a query you think should be listed here that isn't already answered in the editorial archives above? NeoMail me with the query - make sure you state that you are referring to this guide, or I might mistake it for some interesting small-talk and get horrifically confused! Is there a way to know when Tarla will come?
There is no way to predict when in the day, and how many times a day she appears nor for how long each appearance lasts - however, there is a way to see if Tarla is coming at any given time in a singular day. This can be done by checking any Tarla giveaway link (doesn't have to be current). If the message you receive is "Tarla is at the prize warehouse right now. She'll send you a message on your Toolbar when she gets back." this means that there will be no giveaways that day. If the message is "Tarla is busy with her other chores today. Make sure you have the Toolbar installed so you'll know when she is back!" Than at some point in that day, Tarla will be handing out prizes, so pay careful attention to your toolbar if you see that message! Thank you to Ally for first alerting me of this phenomena :) Her original guide is located here.
How come my toolbar alert never flashes or when it does, Tarla is away?
Tarla appears roughly three to five minutes for up to five times a day - and not every day at that. You'll have to be online at the precise moment she is available and notice the flashing orb in time :) Be patient! Sometimes Tarla can go with days, up to weeks without appearing! You aren't the only one waiting :)
Why isn't the toolbar working properly?
Make sure the toolbar is compatible with your browser and system and that you have properly completed all installation steps. Also remember, FireFox users, that Mozilla FireFox 2.0 is not compatible with the toolbar. If you have FF 2.0, Chellies figured out a relatively simple way to get around this issue, click here to check out her guide, or download the latest version of FireFox (2.0.0.2). It is a minimalistic update, but this small update makes FF compatible with most plug-ins.
