Chapter 1
In the beginning…
Everyday, at midnight, all the kacheeks from the Dark Alleyways come together. They gather round in Neopian central. All bruised and hurt by the other, cruel neopets. Most of the kacheeks are grey. Some are blue, but look red. Because of the bloody bandages. All except one kacheek. A kind, pink one. She takes care of most of the others. Helping them when they need it most. They all decided to call her Rose. Because she had a heart of one, and is peaceful like one, too.
Today is the day." Announced a grey kacheek, when the others have quietened down. "Today we shall decided who will go inside the bakery, and grab what they can…who shall it be?" No body wanted to go. They shook there heads. "I will go…" Said a soft voice. All the kacheeks turned to the voice. To Rose. She took a step forward. "I will go and get the food we need…I am old enough to go now." All the kacheeks murmured things to each other. Some shaking there heads, others nodding. The grey kacheek hushed them to be quiet. He turned to Rose. "Alright…" He said. Walking towards her. He put a hand on Rose's shoulder. "Be careful of the guard lupes…"He whispered. Rose nodded. She knew everything about them. Some of the other kacheeks had gone into the bakery also, but never returned. All except one, but that's another story…
