Welcome, guest, to Handcarved Adoptions. I'm Weaselblood, or WB for short, and I run this agency with my mom, Weasel. These are pets who we've picked up from the pound or from users who couldn't care for them and brought into our neofamily for a sojourn while we care for them, take them to the lab ray, and find them permanent owners. Could one of these little lovelies be your next new pet?

Rules and Guidelines

To be the owner of one of my fosters...

Please, before applying, make sure you have room for your new pet. We've received many great applications from people who already have max pets. Don't apply if you don't have the space. On that note, please do not pound a pet to make room. Seriously, this defeats the purpose.
Some accounts may not be able to adopt some pets. If your account is under four months old, there are some pets you may not be able to adopt. Click here for more info.
No trading or pounding of your newly adopted pet.Our family does not approve of trading, except on very rare occasions. This defeats the purpose of applying in the first place as well. Which brings me to my next point...
If you no longer want your newly adopted pet, please neomail us and we'll take it back. If you're quitting, need more space, or just don't want a pet you've adopted, then please neomail us and we'll take it back. The whole family grows close to every foster that comes through, and we can give them a second chance at finding a new home. Even if we don't have any open space at the moment, we have friends who can take them in until we have space.
Both Neomail and Petpage applications are accepted, though neither is required. There's not one that's prefered over the other, either. They're just different. A short, heartfelt neomail application is usually sufficient.
There are a few things that we'd appreciate you include in your application:
-All your usernames
-Why you want the pet you're applying for
-Future plans for the pet
Easy, right? But that's just a bare minimum. More of what we look for in an application here
Please send your neomail to the account weasel_gurl, and ONLY that account. A link to the neomail is here.
And, finally, for the title of your application neomail, please put "Weasels Rule: [name of pet you're applying for]". An example would be "Weasels Rule: Weaselblood" (I, of course, am not up for adoption, though)

Can you do all that? Great! Then you can pretty much count yourself into the applicant pool.

What I like to see in an application- and in an applicant

So you want to know more, eh?

Oh good, you've managed to meander your way down here. That either means that you were just having fun scrolling, or you really want to know more about what I look at when you apply. If it's the second part, please do read on. If it's the first... well, why are you still reading?

First, for some dos and don'ts of application writing:

DO:

-Provide something creative. If I'm reading through a bunch of applications, you want to make yours stand out. Even if you can't draw or write, you can still tell me about the pets' likes and dislikes, or maybe a little about their past. But if you can write or draw, or would like to try, then by all means, please provide me with some sample art or story!
-Type in proper English. I'm a bit more lenient if you're not a native English speaker, but just trying to use proper grammar/punctiation scores you major points.
Along with saying that, I may as well put in that I speak fluent French and Spanish, and I am rather proliferate in German and Latin (though Latin is not really relevant), so submitting an application in any of those languages is fine by me.
-Tell me a little bit about yourself on neopets. What do you do for fun? What are your other pets like?
-Make sure you've read the rules carefully. let me emphasize that. Read the rules.

DON'T:

-Use chatspeak. Or capitalize every single first letter in your application. Or not use capitalization at all. I am a bit of a smilie addict myself, so I understand that, but don't overdo it.
-Refer to the pet as an 'it'. Seriously. Pets have genders for a reason, and if you can't figure out what the pet's gender is by the name or the fact that I list it for you, then it's not that hard to look up.
-Ramble on too much. I don't mind a bit of fluff, especially good fluff, but try not to add in too much more than is necessary.
-Give me a one-line application. Put a little bit of thought into it.

Again, these are mostly just things I look for in an application (except for reading the rules. You have to do that). But there are other things I look at that make a huge impact on my decision: namely, looking at your account.

What I look for on accounts:

-Well-fed pets. This is probably my number one, and it is very easy to do (I really don't understand why people don't do it)
-No T&C breaking. If you listed a side account, and I can see that you've played a ton of games on it (I can understand a few), then it's a big warning sign for me. Inappropriate site content is also a bad thing, and I will report if I see anything like it.
-Pets that are customized and/or have a description. Something little and sweet is always nice, and lets me know you think about your pets.

Um, wow. It seems I rambled on for a bit there. Again, that's just what I look at in my decision, and hopefully, you're already doing a lot of those things ^^

Who is Handcarved?

The elusive mascot of this agency

Handcarved, or handcarved_coffins, is the Nimmo in the above picture. So what's the big deal about him? He's just a blue Nimmo that anyone can create, any day, right? Well, not to me. I don't just want any old blue Nimmo, I want him. He is my ultimate dream pet. I fell in love with him the first time I saw him in the pound two and a quarter years ago. I rushed onto my side account, as my main account was full at the time, but to my dismay, he was already snatched up by someone else. Slowly, I watched him being left, abandoned on the account, starving and sad. I've sent the owner neomail, begging for him back, to no avail. She hasn't been online in over two years. He's been through two account purges, with nothing to show for it. But I won't give up hope. I'll do whatever it takes to get my baby.
