The Basic FAQ

Lemme explain a little what this page is about.

Im not gonna lie. Im trying to get referrals. Why? Well, I get free Lutari Talisman Beads if I do. But, if I refer somone, so do they. So we're even. Now to some who are completely new, you don't even know what that means. And that's why I made this page!

Ok so basically the basic things to know about the Neopets Mobile deal is, what it is, how it works, and what's to benefit. Not to mention, what's actually on the island, and what's to do there etc. I set up page anchors, so the table above will take you to the part you need to get your information!

What it is: Neopets Mobile is basically a simplified version of neopets on your cell. You can feed, groom, play, etc. with your pet, do bank business, buy stuff, make NeoPoints, and my personal favorite, train your neopet, all on your cell!

It's important to know too, that it costs $2.99 a month.(Except on Verizon, where it's $3.49 each month.) To see if your phone is compatible, go to your cell phone carrier's website,(Cingular, T-mobile, Verizon Wireless) and do a search.(Search operation directions vary with the carrier.)

If you want to jump down to the directions on how to find out if your phone is compatible click here

How it Works: Once you log into neopets via Neopets Mobile, You won't be able to do anything on the website until you log off of your cell.

NOTE: A lot of people are having trouble understanding this part. Check the 'Other' section in my Q&A here to see if someone had already asked your question and if I had already answered it. If you are still having trouble understanding, just neomail me!

Some people think it's stupid but it's really only for the better. Since your pet can undergo stat changes, mood swings, and hunger changes on your cell, any changes made while on the site could counteract. For example, say I trained VvNite_AssassinvVs level on Lutari Island. Enough time lapsed and I finished the course, but I never pressed 'Complete Course'. I would be able to walk around the website with one less level then I would really have.

NOTE:

If you would try to do anything on the website while your cell phone session is still going on, you would get a message like this:

You currently have a cellphone game in session!

You've downloaded your items onto your cellphone.

You can end a total of 5 cellphone sessions per month without losing any items that you downloaded to your cellphone. These are called 'penalty free sessions'.

You have ended 0 session(s) without losing the items.

You can end 5 more cellphone session(s) without losing items.

To end your cellphone session and not lose items, click here. This will use up one of your penalty free sessions.

To end your cellphone session and lose all the items you downloaded onto your cellphone (up to 50 items in your inventory and any items acquired on your cellphone), click here. This will not use any of your penalty free sessions.

To avoid any penalty, just log off on your phone. Turning off the game or the cell phone does not count as logging off. To log off you have to go to Sync & Quit. This will sync any changes done to your account and terminates the Game.

You have 5 penalty free passes to terminate a cell phone session. Using one of these will keep you from losing any items in your inventory AND any items you may or may not have gained on your cell phone. However you have unlimited amount of passes to terminate a cell phone session WHILE losing everything in your inventory both on your cell and your computer.

This ONLY pertains to termination via the neopets website. You can log on and off as many times as you would please on your cell phone without fear of consequence. it's terminating it by clicking those links on the WEBSITE that's bad news.

What's to Benefit: Well, there's lots to benefit! And it especially depends on who you are. For example, there is cheaper training there and, in a way, it's faster. There's is also money tree type thing over there except it always has something spiffy. Mostly Bottled Earth Faeries. There's also the Wheel of Happiness. Yay! Lol, you almost always get something good from it. For more details on the island, click here!

You could also play games to make NP. This would really only be useful if you were actually AWAY from a computer and like on vacation and whatnot. Then you could play the games to actually make NP when your like bored or whatever. There are really only 2 games there, Blockstravaganza and Go Go Lutari! For more details on these games, click here!

Oh, and one last thing.

You get to create you very own Lutari! As many as you'd like! They come in these basic colors:

Omg, it's very important to note that... Lutari's hate the pound.. So in short, you CANNOT transfer them. Nor can you happen upon one in the pound.

So im going to also confirm that pets CAN be zapped into Lutari by the lab ray, making it NOT a myth. Lol, it's really rare, so don't count on it too much...

So really, the only true way to get a Lutari is by Neopets Mobile. HOWEVER, Neopets has been known for releasing some(meaning making them available to create via Creat-A-Pet) sporatically and in small rations. If your looking to get a Lutari this way, Lutari day is a good day to try! :)

Explore the Island!

This part of the guide explains a little more indepth what each part of the island is, and what it's for.

This is an image of what the island looks like on a cellphone. Obviously, the image is going to vary depending on your phone model, because not all phones have the same graphics capabilities

This map highlights the accessibly parts of the island. They are color coded with the guide below.

Wheel of Happiness: The WoH is basically like the Wheel of Excitement. You can spin it every 30 minutes, it costs 100 NP to spin it, and the prizes include winning 500 NP(Happens almost all the time) winning 250 NP, winning a Lutari Feather,(for the Survival Academy) winning 10,000 NP, getting attacked by a Night Stalker,(Only happened once to me, although he did take 2k lol) your pet can get sick, and a "Whoops" which cuts half of your NP, so be wary!

Survival Academy: The Survival Academy is where you go to train your Neopet. You train your pet using Lutari Feathers. These can be bought, won from the Wheel of Happiness, picked up randomly while traversing the island, and picked up at the Bog of Charity.

Although the prices for these feathers are way cheaper than those of the codestones, the prices do tend to fluctuate like crazy. I normally buy my feather when they reach the 3.5k range, but they go up down a lot. Highest i've seen them though is at 5.5k which is still competable to codestone prices.

There is no chart as to how many levels require how many feathers, but it costs my pet 3 feathers to train in the level 50 area.

The only thing that stinks about the Survival Academy is that you need to stay logged in and the game needs to remain turned on in order for the countdown to... count down lol. If you turn off the phone, log off, or even stop the game, the countdown pauses until you log back into your phone and leave it on.

I just leave the game on over night, and when I wake up, my pet is done.

I also don't know if this is a real perk or if I was just lucky, but I get superbonuses like crazy. The highest i've gotten is 3.

Lutari Savings Bank: It's basically just another branch of the National Neopian Bank. You can access your bank here, withdraw, deposit, and even collect your interest.

NOTE: It's been reported by some users that the interest collected from the Lutari Banks is NOT the same interest collected from the bank at Neopets.com.

Bog of Charity: This is basically like the Money Tree. Except no sandals, or dung. The 'junk' item there is Sparkling Bog Water, but those guys are easily avoided. You can almost always catch yourself a pretty little Bottled Earth Faerie, some NP, or some other little Lutari Island trinkets. And those include Lutari Feathers! You can hit it up for freebies every hour or so.

Island Gossip: This is just a simplified version of the news, and it's just text. It's the same thing as the New Features page, except without images and the extra unneeded bits.

Briana's Quests: Bet you didn't know, but you can get faerie quests while you walk around the island by the resident faerie, Briana. When you get one, I would assume you would go here for something. I've never gotten one, so I can't say exactly what happens.

Fluorescent Pools: Really, it's just the Healing Springs. except without the snowballs and useless potions. It often heals me up all way, and only heals me in increments when I have full health.

Island Market: The Island Market is just that. You can buy all sorts of objects Lutari themed here, and often at a discount, so you might be able to make a profit if you buy something that doesn't normally show up.

NOTE:

When you sign onto Neopets Mobile, you have an active neopet. It has been confirmed that if you 'switch' your active neopets, it can change up the options you get from Wheel of Happiness, Bog of Charity, and the Island Market! So switch up your active pets and see what you can score!

~Neopets Mobile Games~

There are 2 games you can play on Lutari Island. You don't see the option to play games on the map because it's on the main menu, when the game first starts up.

Blockstravaganza!
This is like a simplified version of Tetris or Gadgadsgame. What you do is, you try to get at least 3 of the same color block in row. You can only switch blocks that are side-by-side to each other. Every couple of seconds, depending on the difficulty you chose, a new layer of blocks come flying down.

Go Go Lutari!
This is like Turmac Roll. There are some differences though. In this game, there is only one item to avoid, and that's the Sparkling Bog Water. It takes away points from your score. There is also a "double jump" meaning, you can jump twice to catch the higher up items and avoid the obstacles. Also, there are 'stages' that you run, which means each stage has an end, which means the game has an end. And finally, you're allowed to jump on the stumps. They give you an extra jump plus your double jump back.

A little note, you get to play each game 10 times, which means 20 chances to gain NP away from the computer.

---The Talisman---

Now for the part everyone can be a part of.

The Lutari Talisman holds these little magical beads that do nice little things for you around the site. These things include an increase in random events, discounts when shopping in the main shops, and boosting the NP payout randomly when sending scores. These are the beads:

The colors stand for something.

Red - Strength
Green - Luck
Yellow - Agility
Blue - Diplomacy

These beads are called Tongi, Oranu, Matu, Urapa, and Ranaka. These suckers are crazy expensive and go for 200k-400k apiece. I know, "omg".

Their name formula is pretty simple:

(Color) (Name) Bead
Example: Red Matu Bead

Simple. They can all be bought EXCEPT for the Tongi Beads.

These can only be obtained by either referring someone AND/OR being referred BY someone.

So quick, get referred here

The completed talisman
this is MY referrer's, mikeypcb, talisman. He also has some cool screenies. Since he completed his talisman, you'll be able to see from his screenies what the power of the talisman can do for you. Until I finish mine, we'll be using his for the sake of game screenies and such. I will however still post any cool random events that i get in the future. To see what the magical talisman can do at its fullest, click here!

Another cool thing is, you don't have to have Neopets Mobile to refer people!
Just fill out this form.

Vv_Q&A_vV

I did just kind of make this guide... so.. not a lot of people have asked questiosn yet, lol!

But if you have some feel free to NeoMail me!!

Mention if you want your username included in the Q&A. If not, that's cool, I can make it anonymous.

Anyways, the questions are going to be categorized. Hopefully it will help out with finding what you are looking for or something.

Lutari Island

Q: Can the Lutari Paint Brush be won from the games on Lutari Island?
~starlightpixie

A: Currently, there is no known *official* way to get a Lutari Island Paint Brush. It's been confirmed that someone won one from the Alien Vending Machine however.

Some other items that are "unconfirmed" are the Floobix (a petpet)and the Weebly (another petpet). Pictures below.

Neopets Mobile Games

None Currently. :(

Lutari Talisman

Q: Hi there.. I saw your board on the charter members, about your Lutari Island webpage... and I didn't even know it that neo mobile had made it to Verizon! Thanks for showing me how to dl it, I signed up for your referral. You should have gotten credit for me, because I got my first bead on my talisman. I was wondering though, do you know why my bead went straight to my talisman? I was thinking about selling it... is there any way to remove it? Oh well.. I could use some of that extra luck. Anyways thank you for your page and I am going to put one of your banners on my lookup. best of luck getting those referrals!
~Mari

A: First off, thank you! It makes me so happy to hear that my guide helped and that your spreading it! =] Anyways, the answer is, all your beads(unless you find one, or buy one) will go straight to talisman. This means, you'll have to refer 3 more people before you can begin selling these beads. After you get the first 4 beads(the Tongi ones, even though sometimes they don't show up as Tongi *pokes my progress screenie*) all the beads will just shoot straight to your inventory where you will have the choice to add it to your talisman, or do whatever you want with it. There is no way to remove beads from your talisman once you get them on. Sorry.

And in case your wondering, you don't necessarily get notified when someone accepts your referral. However, when you sign onto your account on your cell phone, you get a little notice saying that someone selected you as their referrer and a bead has been added to your talisman/inventory. But good luck with referring if your thinking about it. Your just as entitled to it as I am... Although I won't lie, I wish you wouldn't... lol :]

Other

Q: Hey I saw your guide posted on the main hall and I was wondering if you could help me? I've downloaded the game on to my phone, but when I try to login I get a message about being unable to connect to the internet. Im using a sony ericson W810i, I don't know if you would be able to help, but any info on the settings I need to use on my phone would be very welcome! Thanks in advance!
~voodoolightbulb

A: Ahh, well, I had the very same problem when I first signed up. Allow me to explain:

The game needs to connect to the Neopets database server. In order to do this, it needs to connect via the internet. So in short, you need to augment your cell phone plan to allow internet access on your phone. There are two ways to do this, but they differ depending on your cell phone provider and cell phone model. Your best bet is to just call your company's tech support or you could just somehow activate it on the phone. Someone else asked another question similar to this, but it's different. You can view it here.

Q: I like it! Make me want to join, maybe next month when I get my new phone. Are you having problems losing your items and etc that I been hearing about?
~mardi_gras_mamma

A: This 'glitch' that people hear about was in fact real. But the keyword being was. It has already been fixed, and the only items you lose are the ones in your inventory.

I have never experienced this glitch, and I practically LIVE on Lutari Island, Syncing and Quitting all the time. I have never experienced any glitch except some lag, and that's because of my cell phone.

Q: How come when I click your referral link, I get sent to neopet's main page???
~Anonymous

A: I believe that, if you do not live in the US, this is an autonomous action when you click the link. But don't worry, there is a way you can still say im your referrer.(if you're feeling kind enough to do the extra work)

If your still able to download the game and sign onto it properly, then you can still enter a referrer on the phone itself! On the main menu of Neopets Mobile, click on 'Talisman', read the little description they have, click next, and then you'll see a another mini menu. First option being 'Invite Neofriend', with the icon being a little lutari themed jubjub. The next one being 'Enter Referrer', with the icon being a little bullseye target. Click on that, read the description, click next, and then enter my username! You have to type it in both boxes, I guess to verify you have the same username in mind.

Q: You mentioned syncing/quitting all the time in one of the questions, what is that, how do you do it, and why?
~Anonymous

A: When you sign onto neopets mobile, your account on neopets.com can't do make actions on the site because Neopets Mobile is like a mini neopets. Stat changes and stuff can happen while you're on the island, and that could throw things off if while your on neopets.com all the sudden you get full health in the middle of a battle. So when you sync, it updates neopets.com of any changes made including anything gained/lost.

You Sync & Quit by going to the main menu(done simply by pressing back) and clicking the hourglass shaped icon. It will say Sync & Quit when you put the cursor on it. It takes a couple of moments for everything to sync, so give it a minute before you try to do anything on neopets.com.

Q: Can you access your sides on Neopets Mobile? For example if im on vacation and I want to do my lab zaps on my sides will I be able to log onto my cell with each of my other accounts?
~kellijuana

A: Well this is a yes and no answer... Yes, you can access your sides on Neopets Mobile. In the main menu, you just click 'Options'(the little hammer icon), and then click 'Switch User'. Simple!

The 'No' part of this answer is... you can't zap your sides. Or your main! Because the Lab Ray isn't accessible on Neopets Mobile. Although, it does sound like a really useful idea. We should request it to TNT in an e-mail, feedback, or we could even try the editorial section in the Neopian Times!

Q: I heard someone say that you pay the $3 a month, and you have to pay per minute playing? True?
~spongeboblovr123_123

A: False.

However, some companies do have some way of making you pay for your time. Like, I know that Cingular charges for every KiloByte(KB) downloaded. And im sure those KBs can accumulate pretty fast. BUT, there are some 'package' deals you can buy that help you save on those KBs. Im sure when augmenting your plan to allow these changes, you'll find your way. I also know that T-Mobile only charges $5.99 a month for internet. No extra charges per KB just the raw $5.99. As for Verizon, you do have to pay for your webtime. Unlimited internet access a month is $15. Verizon also has a plan for web access at $5 a month, but it takes away from your minutes unless you only use it nights and weekends, which for some people, would be redundant.

By the by, someone else asked a question similar to this. For a little more information regarding this, click here.

My Progress

My Talisman Progress will be posted here. As long as im getting people to refer with me, I owe everyone the knowledge of how far along im going.

So far I have the following beads:

Red Ranaka Bead, Red Urapa Bead, Red Matu Bead
(Thanks for letting me refer yall!)

Yellow Tongi Bead, Yellow Oranu Bead
(Yay for everyone who let me refer them!)

Green Tongi Bead, Green Urapa Bead
(Still yay for everyone that let me refer them!)

Blue Tongi Bead, Blue Ranaka Bead, Blue Urapa Bead, Blue Oranu Bead
(Thanks for everyone who is letting me refer them! You guys rock!)

The file name is 'Talisman', so whenever I get 1 extra bead, all i have to do is screenie it, and then crop it to 550 pixels in the width, and upload it to replace the image in photobucket with the new one. The image will change by itself! Since you can't view everyones talisman, i'll just post mine here.

How to Find Out if Your Phone is Compatible

First, it's important to know what your phone model is. Since it's different to find out for each phone, I just turn off the phone, take out the battery, and search around there lol. I always win this way.

Verizon Wireless

NOTE: It has been reported that the Verizon website has been failing as successfully searching for game on it's website, a process clearly depicted in directions and screenshots below. It has come to understanding that, Verizon has NOT removed the service, but perhaps the website is having issues. In the meanwhile, to see if your phone is compatible, try by searching your Verizon Wireless phone's "Get It Now" catalogue. The rest of the guide has been left intact below, in the event that users come across this guide when the website has it's mess cleared up. Please neomail me if and when the issue has been resolved! Thanks so much!

ANYWAYS...

When you first access the Verizon Wireless website, you see what looks a little like this:

Just navigate through the drop down menu seen above(Features & Downloads;Games;View All Games

In the search bar shown above, type in 'Neopets Mobile' and hit Search.

Click the Lutari Island image you see circled above. Ignore the 'Select a Phone' drop-down menu. It's a pain.

The scroll box circled above, look for your phone model. If your phone model isn't listed then you either aren't compatible, or are looking at the wrong carrier website. Hopefully it's the latter.

T-Mobile

Good lord, it is nearly impossible to find out if your T-Mobile phone is compatible with the service via the website, so don't even bother and just do it on your cell:

Ok well first, go to T-Zones. This is really easy to do, because on pretty much all T-Mobile phones, there is a button on the cell that takes you right to it. When it loads up, get the cursor on Downloads. Then when the page loads again, get the cursor on Games. Then when the page loads again, scroll down until you see a category named 'Mobile Pets'. Go there, and look for Neopets Mobile. If it's not there, than your not compatible. :(

If you're still feeling hopeful, while in Games, you can go to search, and conduct a search on the word 'Neopets'.

Cingular

Ok, well first, log onto the website. Go to the SHOP drop down menu, and then select Ringtones & More. I circled it.

Then select Buy Games. I circled its location.

A new window or something should pop up. In the search bar, type in 'Neopets', and everything Neopets related will pop up, yay.

Hit search...

Click subscribe (which is circled), and a page will load where you will have to select your phone info. When you put your mouse over the subscribe button, it changes to $2.99. That's why it comes up weird on the picture above.

Circled in red, is to show that you will need to allow pop-ups just this once to let the little applet pop up that will let you select your phone model. Circled in orange are just them telling you to select your phone model. Circled in blue are all the phone Manufacturer's. Select yours and then select your phone model. If you cannot find it on the list, then your are not compatible.

Sprint

So let's start with going to the website. Remember: It's important to know your phone model NOW. On the front page, scroll all the way down to the bottom.

Click on the "Shop Digital Lounge" link.

Next page, look for the search bar. It should be at the top right.

Type in "Neopets Mobile" and hit Search.

**ERROR**

It seems the Sprint Wireless website was having technical difficulties at the time of writing this guide. Maybe when you read this, it will have been fixed and you can improvise your way to the answer.

However, as an alternative, I can provide you with an alternate idea to find out if your phone is compatible or not. You can search by using your Sprint phone's catalogue. I don't have a Sprint phone, so I don't know what they call it, but im sure it's accessible simply by hitting menu, and... Well, im sure can figure it out from there!

If in fact you come to this part of the guide, and the Sprint website is operational in terms of effectively searching the site for the Neopets Mobile game, please contact me so that I may finish writing this guide! Thank you!
