.Welcome to my palace.

.this world.

Once upon a time, there lived a young, naive lupe. This pup was fascinated with the stars, and dreamt every night of flying up to the sky to join the constellations. Oh, he was so young! He was too young...
This pup knew that shooting stars were one of the rarest phenonmenon in the world, and that any wish wished upon it would come true. So he waited. And waited.
And waited.
One night, after years of waiting, he saw one. It soared across the sky right in front of him, and he knew there was no other time to wish. So he did.
But the poor lupe spent so long waiting for the shooting star that he forgot what he had planned out so many years ago. In the haste of the moment, he wished for a pair of wings.
So simple.
And yet so complicated.
At that instant, he fell into a deep slumber. When he awoke, there were wings on his back.
But...they were wooden. He tried to flap them. But. They wouldn't. Couldn't.
So he looked up at the heavens, and at that moment, his heart shattered. But a part of him never gave up that dream. After all those years, he still couldn't. So to this day, he still hopes.
For him, my dear Vulpeculae, life is only a dream. One dream. And I hope he never wakes.

.memory.

Vulpeculae pads through the piney woods in the summertime. Watching ahead of him and not below, he steps on a poison ivy vine sticking out from the dense undergrowth. Suddenly, the vine comes alive and twists around the lupe's right paw and ankle, not letting him go. Growling, the lupe tears at the vine with claws and teeth. After minutes of struggling and tug of war, the vine finally breaks and the end from the undergrowth retreats with a squeal of pain. Panting, the lupe rests, looking at the new addition to his leg. He tries to claw and chew it off, but it doesn't release, and never will. The magic in the woods is strong. Whoever bothered the poison ivy vine will not go near it again and will be more careful when they trudge through these piney woods...

.encounter.

In the woods, and before you, at last, is Vulpeculae. The poor thing. His wings really are wooden. His head is tilted to the side a bit, in a curious, yet almost quizzical, manner. How strange...
He isn't looking at you. No, I don't believe he even saw you. He's staring at the stars again, as usual. But he doesn't seem sad. How can he not be? you wonder. He's had his dreams dashed...
Then you feel it. It's the wind. It's blowing upward... into the sky. It rustles through Vulpeculae's fur, trying to lift him up. It's whispering in his ear...the softest sound...
Your time will come, child...and all will be bliss..."

...leaves rustle in the breeze...

.kindred.

Vulpeculae smiles at you. "My mother is the earth and my father the sky. The forest is my guardian and all its inhabitants my friends." He raises an eyebrow. "As for my... so-called neo family..." He sighs playfully. "We're a bit. Dysfunctional? I think that's the BEST word for it."

.linkage.

Ready to leave Vulpeculae already? Take a little something with you, perhaps.
I hope you'll come back," Vulpeculae says. "Who knows? Maybe someday all our dreams will come true..."

Vulpine grins, something rarely seen from him. "I cherish these adoptables greatly. Thanks to everyone who made one for me!"
