Moving quickly through the backstreets, your hand over your mouth to dilute the sounds of your hacking, you realized what a dump you had walked into. Hiding your face in the clean of your jacket fabric, you look about the wasteland of a city you had found. Unless they were hiding in the run-down, abandoned looking apartments that lined the streets, there was no sign of inhabitance. Not a single Petri could be found sillouhetted in the sky, which was a sick-inducing green colour.

Concluding that the area had been consumed by pollution and toxins, you turn to continue on your way, but as you start, something catches your eye…

This something is none other than Vhaldis.
Pollution itself.

What's that smell, you ask?
Why, it's me.
I was born out of the waste of what is left of a grand city.
Every littered carton, every puff of smoke the humans left behind,
Every toxic chemical dumped into every rat-infested sewer...

That's me.

The deserted, disease-ridden wasteland wasn't always this way. At one point it was a bustling city, full of the rushed, commuting crowd just fit for such cities. Business ran smoothly, the crime rate wasn't too bad, and everyone was content. Well, as content as you can be in a sleepless atmosphere.

Decades went by and everything was running smoothly. The population kept growing, and that meant more businesses. And more businesses meant more job opportunities. And more job opportunities meant more competition. And the more competitive people were, the worst everything around them got. Demand for just about everything was rising consistently, and nobody could find a way to supply fast enough.

But, as the city grew, technology grew as well. Every month large businesses would find different machines to do their work for them, each one faster and more sufficient then the last. However, as the technology became more and more complicated, the pollution rate grew higher than health should allow.

As the problem of pollution became more and more and more apparent, the scientists grouped together and came up with the best they had to offer. No solutions on how to cut back on smog-inducing machinery, no. But a way to clog all the harmful chemicals into a Petri dish of DNA. The DNA could hold together and mutate the toxins, which were filtered out of the air 24/7, into some form of creature that could withhold such waste.

And that was how I formed. How I became exactly what I am today I do not know, but this is what I'm stuck with. Life wasn't exactly satisfactory in laboratory conditions, but it was certainly livable.

After awhile, however, not even I could stand the amount of unidentifiable gross that was being pumped into me. I don't know exactly what happened; I was in a coma for most of the time.

All I know is that when I woke up, everyone was gone, and the once thriving city had decayed into what it is today. I had been out for a good hundred years or so, I suppose. How else could I explain what was left behind for me?

Ever since then I've been wandering around the filth left behind, living life as it comes.

Sometimes I call this place a home. It's my dwelling; my territory, and the place I rightfully thrive.

Other times it's a prison. Someplace I feel I can never leave, in fear of poisoning another atmosphere.

Someday I'll end up dieing out as the chemicals that keep me going wear out, but for now, it is what it is.

Yokierenne is a crazy character. Crazy, but not unenjoyable. I envy his outlook on life, and his ability to always be so jumpy and bubbly. He stays in his own little world, though. I know almost nothing about him he keeps to himself so much. Someday I hope to jump into his mind and feel like I can truly act like a sister to him, but for now I admire him from a distance, and he keeps on with his acts.

Asmidisc is a completely different story. I know a lot about him, but he's nowhere near as friendly as Yoki. Always in a rush and mumbling under his breath, he seems insanely stressed and angry all the time. I try to stay out of his way when I come across him, for I know that, if you catch Az in the wrong mood, he'll lash out. Sometimes I look up at the stars and find him there, going about his business. And, though he's a very cruel character, he's respectable.

So many new faces for me to learn! Entrusted as an alpha, I feel I don't give my title the respect it deserves. Such a beautiful, island, though. I will truely be happy here.

Jazne …Me and him have a lot in common, and as soon as we met each other, we knew it. He was the single soul who helped coax me out of my little 'bubble' for the first time, promising to show me the world. He's a strange creature, and I can't help but be scared of him sometimes, but we stick together pretty well.

Thirh I haven't known him for long, but Thirh has taught me so much of this outside world! He tolerantly puts up with my persistent questioning, and treats me with such affection that no one has before. His playfulness is very enjoyable, and I can't help but smile around him.

Tom Lehrer - 'Pollution

Time was when an American about to go abroad would be warned by his friends or the guidebooks not to drink the water. But times have changed and now a foreigner coming to this country might be offered the following advice...

If you visit American city,
You will find it very pretty.
Just two things of which you must beware:
Don't drink the water and don't breathe the air.

Pollution, pollution,
They got smog and sewage and mud.
Turn on your tap and get hot and cold running crud.

See the halibuts and the sturgeons
Being wiped out by detergents.
Fish gotta swim and birds gotta fly,
But they don't last long if they try.

Pollution, pollution,
You can use the latest toothpaste,
And then rinse your mouth with industrial waste.

Just go out for a breath of air,
And you'll be ready for Medicare.
The city streets are really quite a thrill.
If the hoods don't get you, the monoxide will.

Pollution, pollution,
Wear a gas mask and a veil.
Then you can breathe, long as you don't inhale.

Lots of things there that you can drink,
But stay away from the kitchen sink.
The breakfast garbage that you throw in to the Bay,
They drink at lunch in San Jose.

So go to the city, see the crazy people there.
Like lambs to the slaughter,
They're drinking the water
And breathing
The air

» FAQ «

Can Vhaldis and my pet become friends?
This is very likely. You have to understand that a lot of roleplaying has to go on beforehand, however. Even though Vhaldis is rather friendly, it takes time to build strong relationships, and I'm not going to be entirely unrealistic and just link to your pet.

Where did you come up with Vhal's backstory?
Honestly, I don't know. A mixture of inspirations and some time alone, I suppose.

Why aren't there any adoptables on this page?
Are you honestly just here for the adoptables? And I spent all that time on the page. How sad. Ah, well. If you're looking for my adoptables, visit Yoki's page. I won't guarantee they'll be open, however.

Where did you get your music?
Unlike other people, I didn't bother to do some long, extensive search for my music. However, I'm not going to tell you where I got it. Try bothering with Google before stealing mine; Enya midi's are by far the easiest to find.

Can Vhaldis and my pet date?
Probably not. I suggest, if you're looking for this, you bother to roleplay, and we'll see where things go.

You stole my design/idea!
I think up everything by myself. Absolutely nothing is 'borrowed'.

Someone stole something from your page!
Let me know right away so I can report it! It's very, very rare that people bother to take my work, but when it does happen I prefer to be notified so the thieves can be caught.

Can I join Infinitum?
If you're interested in joining Fini, please visit this page. If you want more information, please contact me. And trust me, I highly suggest you bother checking us out.
