Training Your Pet
First, you need to know what your pet's stats are. The easiest way to check is on the status page at either of the training schools....
here or here.
On the status page you will see a table, like the one pictured below, for each of your pets.
So what does it all mean?
Your pet's level limits the amount you can increase his/her other stats. You cannot raise any stat (except HP) more than twice your pet's level, for instance a pet at level 5 can train strength, defence and agility up to level 10. HP can be trained up to three times the level, however be warned if you do this you will then need to raise your pet's level back up to half his/her HP in order to raise any other stats!!
Strength is the ability to damage a Battledome opponent. As you increase your Strength, so you increase the amount of damage your weapons can do. However although your stats increase each time you train, your strength in the Battledome does not!
Strength Boosts come in stages, as you reach your next strength boost so the amount of damage done by your weapons increases. Your first strength boost comes when your pet has a strength level of 8. This means that a pet with a strength level of 7 is no stronger than a pet with a strength level of 1.

Defence is the ability to prevent damage from a Battledome opponent. As your defence increases the amount of damage done by your opponent decreases. Defence boosts work in exactly the same way as strength.
- Mov stands for Movement/Agility.
Agility has, at this time, no affect in the Battledome.
- Hp stands for Hit Points/Endurance.
Endurance is the ability to withstand attacks from a Battledome opponent. You begin each fight with a certain amount of hit points, as your opponent attacks damage will be caused to your pet reducing his/her HP. The more HP you have, the more damage you can take before being defeated!
There are two main places to train your pet.
Cap'n Threelegs' Swashbuckling Academy
on Krawk Island
|
Mystery Island Training School
on Mystery Island
|
|
|
As you can see from the table below, courses at the Swashbuckling Academy are paid for with Dubloons and take longer, while courses at the Training School are quicker but cost more as they are paid for with Codestones.
So unless you are in a rush or like to 'waste' NP's, I would advise you to start your training at the Swashbuckling Academy. You can train at the Academy until your pet reaches level 40.

At the Academy you will see the following tabs
Main | Courses | Status | Sayings | Leave
- Select Courses
- Choose your course, using the drop down menu.
- Choose your pet, using the drop down menu.
- Click the Start Course button.
Using versiteee as an example, you can see from his stats (above) that he is only level 1 and will therefore need to raise his level before he can train any of his other stats. As his str and def are at 9 his level will need to be 5 before these can be raised (5x2=10). However his HP is at 7 and will be able to be trained once he is at level 4.
So my course will be 'level' and my pet will be versitee. Clicking the Start Course button takes me to the next page.
Here you have two options Pay or Cancel. If you already have the dubloon(s) required then simply click Pay, if you don't have the dubloon(s) then you will need to buy one, then come back to the Academy and click Pay. Then you just have to wait the alloted time until you can take another course.
Once your pet has reached level 40 you will no longer be able to train at the Academy and will need to start training at the Training School.
As with the Academy you need to choose your course and pet, then click the Start Course button to go to the next page. Please ensure that you choose the course you want, as there is no option to cancel.
You will now need to buy the codestone(s) that are required, and then come back and 'click to pay'. There is no way of knowing which type of codestone will be needed, it is completely random! As with the Academy you then have to wait the allotted time until you can take another course.
Random Faerie Quests
Random Faerie Quests are just that...Random!
You can't go and do one when you want, you have to wait until you get one as a Random Event (RE). You can increase your chances of getting a RE by playing games like Dice-A-Roo, NeggSweeper, Pyramids and any other non-flash game that refreshes often.
Although most Random Faerie Quests increase your pets stats, which pet they bless is random. Therefore the more pets you have, the less chance that the faerie will bless your battledome pet! This guide is only for stat increasing faeries:
- The Fire Faerie will add 2 strength points.
- The Water Faerie will add 2 defence points.
- The Dark Faerie will add 2 to your max HP.
- The Light Faerie will add 1 Level.
- The Space Faerie will add 4 Levels.
- The Faerie Queen will add 1 Level, 3 to your max HP and 2 strength points.
She may also increase level of one ability.
Unless the item is very expensive or you have very low level pets, these quests are usually worth doing. It all depends on the cost of the item that the faerie is asking for, compared to how much it will cost you to train the equivalent stats!
Kitchen Quests
Kitchen Quests are found on Mystery Island. I would advise you not to spend more than around 2,000 NP on these quests otherwise you could lose a lot of NP's.
You don't always get rewarded with a stat boost for completing one of these quests, you could receive NPs or an item instaed.
Coltzan's Shrine
Visit Coltzan's Shrine in The Lost Desert every 12 hours. There is a possibility that he will increase your stats, however you could also get dubloons, items, food, NP or nothing!
Count Von Roo
From 12 midnight to 1 AM NST, You can visit Count Von Roo at Roo Island for a game of Deadly Dice. If you roll lower than Count Von Roo, then your Neopet loses a level. If you roll higher than him, then your Neopet gains a level.
If it is a tie, then you both roll again, and the levels are doubled. (The second roll is for two levels, the third is for four levels, etc.)
Scratchcards
Terror Trove Scratchcards are available from user's shops and from the Scratchcard Kiosk. Match three symbols and if you are lucky you may win a level up. You could also win NP's, snowballs, other items or nothing.
Random Events
There are random events where your pet will suddenly gain a level or get stronger so keep a watch out for those!
The Lab Ray
To use the lab ray you must have all the pieces of the Secret Laboratory Map. It can be used once a day and although it can increase your stats, it can also decrease your stats.
The lab map can also change the colour of your pet, or even the species of your pet!!
For more information on the Lab Ray try this page

Faerie Abilities are obtained from Bottled Faeries. There are six different types of Bottled Faeries and each one has its own special abilities.
- Air
- Earth
- Fire
- Water
- Dark
- Light
To give your pet an ability, first, check that your pet's level is high enough to be given the next available ability (see below), click on your bottled faerie and choose which pet you want to Bless. If your pet is not at a high enough level, the faerie will simply fly away!!
To activate your ability, go to the Quick Reference page and click on Abilities, then click on a faded ability to activate it.
Please note that you can only have a maximum of seven abilities activated at any one time. The abilities highlighted in blue are the ones that I recommend you should activate once you have them!
