Tienii was a gift from Bookie, the sister of his petpet. Tienii's, and his sister, Firekin's, mother belonged to one of Bookie's friends, and when the litter of cubs came, only one of them could stay with their mother.
Firekin and Tienii were not chosen to stay, and were given to Bookie. Bookie, unsure as to whether he could keep both jumas, gave Tienii to Vai after she chose a name for him.
