welcome to ufapets
| | |
Welcome. You have stumbled upon my personal lab pet collection. I have lab maps on three of my side accounts and I decided I wanted to try to help zap pounded pets find them good homes. Thus I created this system in an effort to promote pet adoption. =)
I keep 13 foster pets at all times. All of these are adopted. The pets I choose are usually very well named, meaning that they have pronounceable names with a capital first letter and no numbers or underscores. Interested in adopting? Read on. |

rules & requirements
| | |
You must meet/agree to ALL to adopt a pet.
Your account must be 4 months old.
Younger accounts cannot receive transfers.
You must give the pet a permanent home.
For you to turn around and retrade one of these pets would be cruel to me, to the pet, and to everyone else who may have wanted it.
Keep the pet on your main account.
I prefer that the pet go to a main. If you have to keep the pet on a side, explain the situation to me. In the final decision, main accounts get priority.
No fancy applications or petpages.
All that is fluff. What matters to me is that you've put effort into your account and don't just want a trophy pet. All I ask for is a basic Neomail. |

adoption system
| | |
Zapping of pets:
Pets are zapped until they turn into a non-base color. If I feel the color does not suit the name/gender of the pet, I will keep zapping until a satisfactory change happens.
Pound versus transfer adoption pets:
Depending on the color of the pet, one of two things will happen. If the color is relatively cheap and has no associated clothing, I will pound the pet. If the color has a high value, or if there is any clothing that comes with the color, the pet will be put up for adoption via transfer.
The "slot" system:
Once a pet is done labbing, they will be placed into a "slot" below. There are four slots, one for each of my accounts' monthly transfers. Whichever pet is featured in the slot is the one going out that month. You can see the slot queue to tell what pets will be up in future months.

how to apply
| | |
Once you have read all of the above information carefully, check the current pets section. Look for a Neomail link in the appropriate box.
As far as the contents of the Neomail, all I ask for is a brief paragraph telling me why you would like the pet. That, combined with a peek at your account stats, will guide my decision.
Come the deadline, I will take the time to mail everyone interested to let them know my decision. I will send out the pet on the scheduled transfer date.

what i look for in applicants
| |
Since I don't want detailed applications, accounts and impressions are how I choose who gets the pet. Of all the neomails I get, what makes people stand out above others? These are little things that will make or break your chances.
Things that make a good impression:
Effort put into an account. You don't have to have 3 Draiks or 300 avatars. I just want to know you are interested in the game. Do you have anything at all to show for the time you've spent on the site? If everything on your account is blank it just looks like you don't care.
Doing something to customize your pets. Whether it's giving them a description, dressing them up, or buying them petpets, it shows that you care about them.
Creativity. I have folder after folder full of "I want this pet because it's my dream pet and I will read it books and feed it every day and draw it and enter it in the BC!" You get one paragraph to make an impression, so write something to make yourself stand out.
|
|
Things that make me delete your mail:
Sad pets on your account. If your existing pets are all sad or sick, why would I want to give you another one?
Four pets already on your account. Abandoning a current pet to get a special painted one is not cool. Let me know if you are transferring a pet out or putting one on a side account, or else it will look bad.
Broken rules on your lookup/pages. If you break site rules anywhere on your pages, it says to me that you don't care about the site and cannot follow directions.
Begging, yelling, whining, flattery, etc. I don't care if you like my userlookup or you wrote the pet a special poem. That's not what matters.

These are the pets that have been adopted. Please do not bother their owners. Since new owners may have changed them, mouseover an image to read what the pet was when it left me. Format: Name | Gender Color Species | New Owner

These are the pets that I have pounded to give more people a chance at. They may change between owners. Mouseover to read what they were originally. Format: Name | Gender Color Species

common questions
| | |
Can I apply for more than one pet?
You are free to apply for however many pets you want, but if you receive a pet, the likelihood that I will give you another is extremely slim. I want to give different people a chance.
Can I apply for a pet as a gift/surprise for a friend?
No. It just makes things tangled and confusing.
How does the transfer in the Neopian Pound work?
If I give you a pet, an icon appears at the top of the screen like a Neomail. Click on this to be taken to the pound. Accepting the transfer will cost you a 1,000 NP fee. Once you accept, the pet will be on your account.
How do I know whether or not I get the pet?
Come the deadline date specified on the slot, I will mail EVERYONE interested to tell them my decision.
Why didn't I get the pet?
Consider the fact that I usually get 10-25 applications for each pet. It's not that something was wrong with yours, it's often just that another stood out more. Sorry for any disappointments, but you're welcome to apply again.
Can I apply/be reserved for a pet on the queue?
No. I will only take mail for them once they are in a slot. Everyone has a fair chance then.
