Greetings visitor! I'm Ashe. I was recently (March) accepted as the new owner of Tunicata, a maraquan Eyrie.
I am still here. I have been terribly busy with finals and other end-of-year nonsense. I still love, and plan to keep Kit forever. Or until the internet self-destructs.
Now I'm on summer vacation. I'm working part-time for the local paper, the grocery store, and maybe helping elderly ladies clean their houses. But I will get back to this. Eventually. Yeah.
In case anyone was wondering, please do not claim my
art or character as your own.

Story to be continued, more pictures to come later.

Full name: Tunicata Aeriea
Nickname: Kit
Age: Equivalent of five-year-old human. You have been warned.
Hiya! I'm Kit. Well, Tunicata, really. Mostly everyone calls me Kit though. Unless I'm in trouble or something. My uncle says I'm not big enough yet to fit my name. My mother is the only one who really uses it.
This is my little corner of the world. I got to decorate! So I put a lot of blue. I like blue. It's one of my favorite colors. I like yellow too, but Uncle Oth says that's just nar... Nar-sis-is-em?
But I like blue a lot. It's pretty.
I have a petpet! But she's still afraid of the camera so I don't have any pictures of her yet. She's a Seti. And she has wings!
I live with my Uncle Oth and the rest of his family in Brightvale. Most of them aren't Eyries, but they're nice. Mostly. I like it when they let me play with their petpets. Only, Kitty scares me, so I don't play with her as much.
I really like swimming! But I can't do it very well. I like flying a lot too! But I can do that even less well. I also like tall things! But I get yelled at when I climb on top of the house. Mostly cause I live with a bunch of scaredys.
I'm like, BFFs with the Uni that brings our mail. But I'm not allowed to help him with his job or distract him for long, so I only get to see him on mail days. He's tall. I like when he lets me sit on his back when he's invited inside. Also, his petpet is REALLY cool.

Stuff I like
- The color blue
- Water
- Stairs
- When the mail comes
- Petpets, but mostly Lune
- Pretty shells
- SNOW!
- Super heroes
- Cookies
- My plushie that looks like me sorta
- Getting stuff from Papa
- When the grownups forget when bedtime is
- Halloween
- Going flying

Stuff I don't like
- Party poopers
- Silly rules
- The corner
- Soap
- When the grownups make me leave the room so they can "discuss" things
- The Ixi villain
- Carrots

Ashe here, with a few additions I thought I should mention...
Kit thinks she's sneaky. She isn't. It's almost painful watching her trying to sneak up on something. Her favorite target is Othniel's tail.
She loves the water, and is constantly filling up the tub just to splash around in it. This greatly irritates Shalaraz when he walks into the dripping bathroom to check how much soap is left. She can breath underwater, which stops her from drowning every time she falls asleep in the tub or tries to swim. She can't swim. She sinks. Like a rock. A fuzzy yellow rock.
It's really obvious when she's lying. Luckily, she's realized this and tends to try not to be disobedient just in case a grownup asks her about it. But it doesn't stop her from trying to lie if she gets caught doing something wrong.

Tunicata

Once upon a time, in a cave by the sea, there lived a blue Eyrie...
The setting sun was reflected back by the endless waves. It was a calm day, the surface of the water the smoothest it had been in weeks. The storms of the past month had sent various trash farther up the beach, but down near the water it was clear of debris.
Tal blinked as the light shot directly into his eyes. Turning his head away, he stretched, shaking himself lightly to remove the sand that he had been laying in. It had been a beautiful day. Perfect for laying in the sun.
His cave was far enough away from civilization that he was rarely disturbed. And that was good. He liked the quiet. Solitude. When it was nice, like today, he would come down to the beach in the afternoon and nap in the sand, wings spread as far as they would go, soaking up the warmth. The sun would normally wake him, and then he would follow the well-worn path through the tall beach grass to his cave in the rocks.
For some reason, today he paused. He looked out over the rolling waves, splashing up onto the sand. Out over the horizon dark clouds were gathering. His ears folded back against his skull. He'd thought the storms might have been over with. He'd hoped anyway.
With a heavy sigh he turned his back on the approaching weather.
The sky had loosed it's wrath. Light split the pouring rain at intervals, followed by a crash that all but shook the earth. Tal sat inside the entrance to his cave, just out of the rain, glaring at everything outside. It was dark. And wet. And cold. But he wasn't going to get any sleep tonight, the way the storm was going on. So why not silently express his displeasure?
It started softly, just after an explosion of thunder that hurt his ears and made his jaw ache. He didn't notice it at first. It steadily grew in volume, until he couldn't help but notice. It sounded like someone screaming.
He squinted in the direction of the beach. When the sky flashed again he could just make out the broken old tree in front of his cave through the cascading water falling from the rocks above. But the screaming continued. It sounded like there were at least two voices now. With a deep breath, Tal dove through the curtain of water and out into the elements.
Pardon me. Element. Singular. Everything was water. It battered at him, weighing him down. He could barely keep his eyes open against it. He knew there had to be strong winds, because the rain was falling sideways now, but they were disguised in water. He felt like he was drowning.
Somehow he made it down to the beach. Now the water pelting him was mixed with sand and salt. The waves rolled high up the beach, running against his chest when he stepped down from the grass-covered hill.
He had to wait for the next flash of light to find the source of the screaming, which had turned into muffled sobs by this point. Three forms were lit from behind for a moment, and he stumbled in their direction. Two were standing. One lay crumpled in the water.
He wasn't sure what he could do, what was wrong. But he waded toward them anyway. One of the two standing seemed to notice him, because the screaming started up again. This time it sounded more angry than pained. He opened his mouth to explain that he wasn't going to hurt them, but was only able to inhale water. It tasted foul, sliding stickily down his throat, through his nasal passages. It hurt. He shut his mouth quickly, stopping to duck his head and figure out how to breathe again.
The next flash showed that the two standing figures had turned to face him, their fallen comrade between him and them. He might have heard hissing, but his senses probably weren't to be trusted at this point. He stumbled forward again, sand sucking at his feet until he nearly fell into the water. Turning his head from the wind he tried to get across to them that he was trying to help. They didn't appear to have heard.
The well-soaked wind was pulling at him again, threatening to push him underwater and hold him there. Somehow he managed his way over to the third form. The other two had backed even further away when the world lit again. The beast's head was below the surface. He hoped it wasn't dead. Somehow he got it up over his shoulders, between his wings. It lay crosswise, head hanging off his right shoulder and back end behind his left wing. He raised them slightly, to hold the beast better in place. When he turned to its companions again, they had vanished.
He hoped they hadn't gotten pulled under by the current and drowned.
He fumbled for a light in the darkness, damp, numb paws not making it any easier. He'd laid the unconscious form on the floor as gently as he could. Now to see if it was still alive...
He finally got the lamp lit.
Oh mai. I AM a loser. Looks like I ran out of time again. :P Um... Long story short. He just rescued Tunicata's mom. They fall in love, but she has issues living on land and wants to tell her sisters that she DID survive. Also, her father is probably mad with her for vanishing. So she goes home. Tal is like come back soons? And she wants to, but her father says no. Because he is a jerk. Then MAGICALLY TUNICATA. But she can't swim. So she has to go live with her father. But her mom still has to live underwater. SADNESS.
Um... To be continued? I hope? Please?

Uncle Othniel is (will be) a Halloween Eyrie. He's actually my godfather, and not related, but he's the closest I have to family anymore. After Papa left to find Mother I got to stay with Uncle Oth and his family. They're a bunch of crazies, but he likes them. Uncle Oth is a super hero. His arch-nemesis is the dastardly villainous Ixi that lives on the other side of town, but he doesn't realize it. Uncle Oth secretly goes to do battle with the Ixi's minions in the middle of the night. I know, because one time I woke up because I had eaten too much candy from trick-or-treating, and while I was getting a drink he came in with his costume on. He told me it was because it was Halloween, but I know better. I've been keeping track of the super-hero-y things he does so that someday I can prove that he's actually a super hero, and then he'll HAVE to make me his sidekick so I won't tell anyone his secret identity. I've been practicing rescuing my favorite plushie from dangerous situations. Like that time she was nearly eaten by a rouge petpet. And that other time the floor became lava and I had to jump on piles of melting rock to get to her only then the lava monster came in and told me to quit jumping on the furniture and I attacked him with my ray gun. Only it turns out Shalaraz doesn't especially like getting sprayed with water, because Uncle Oth took my water gun away and told me that furniture is not for bouncing on.

Shalaraz is a party-pooper.
He's basically in charge of the place where Uncle Oth and I live. He's a Lupe. And kind of a jerk. He's always fussing about how I left water in the bathtub or tracked mud through the house. He should really be more understanding. Sometimes though, he tries to be nice and gives me things like a new plushie or sweets, but then he'll get all upset again just because I knock over some shelves or need to be rescued 'cause I climbed on top of the house again.
... I know him best out of everyone living in the house. Because I get in trouble a lot.

Papa had to raise me because Mother had to stay with her family underwater. And I can't swim. He taught me how to do stuff, like write my name and which tree is best to sharpen my claws on instead of the furniture. He's on a quest right now. Firstly to find a way for my mother to stay with us, and secondly to see if he can find wings for me. He says I like heights too much for my own good. He left me with Uncle Oth and flew away. Sometimes he sends a letter, saying where he is and what he's doing. Other times he sends presents. I have a pretty shell he said reminded him of me, and a rock that looks like the rainbow when you put it in the sun.

I don't know much about Mother. I only remember a little. But she was very pretty. And she loves me. Only she couldn't keep me with her because I can't swim. I can breathe under the water, but Mother told Papa that it was better for me to live with other four-leggers. Sometimes she sends me things too. But she just doesn't seem to understand that I like being called Kit. She says Tunicata is my real name, so I should use it. And then I feel bad and tell everyone to call me Cata at least, but they never do.

Lune (Picture of Faerie Seti. Looks startled.)
Lune is my most favoritest thing in the whole world. I rescued her from an avalanche outside Papa's and my cave before he left. Her wing was trapped underneath a HUGE rock, and I saved her. Because I'm awesome. She decided she loved me, so I got to keep her. Mostly because every time Papa tried to set her free, he would find her sleeping next to me in the morning. I'm jealous of her wings sometimes, but we've figured out how to get at the cookies together, so it's okay.

Okay, well... About me.

Firstly, on Neopets. I joined in 2004. I was on nearly every day my parents would let me on the internet. Customization killed my interest for a while, so I fled to a few other pet sites. Obviously though, I got over it and am back now. :P
I currently have the allowed five accounts, though I plan on getting it back down to four again as soon as the youngest hits three months. In order of age, they are Asherbanipal, Krowsing(Ditching), Taydess(Main), Aueori, and Grayscale. I have never had an account iced.
My pets are rarely as pleased with me as they could be. When I finally realize they're hungry, I'll stuff them in a hotel for the night... I'm such a good owner. But I try to keep them smiling, since I like the art better that way.
Long story short, I had big ideas for most of my pets before customization. Afterward, I lost interest for a while and moped around ranting. When I came back, I put off re-creating stories and paint decisions for a long time. Only recently have I realized that if I make things for them pretending I am applying for them, I actually can do some cool things. I'm working on designs and stories now, but I don't have as much free time as I'd like. Also, I am a procrastinator. So I would like to apologize for the lack of pretty my pets possess.

Off-site, I am a female college student somewhere in the United States. I am going to major in English and Writing. Because I am so good at it you see. :P */sarcasm* I enjoy drawing, but am self-taught and normally displeased with the outcome. I love fantasy books, even though I rarely have time to read for fun anymore.
I love gryphons and dragons. And elephants. Also wolves. I like to play pokemon games. Blue is my favorite color. I only own four pairs of shoes. I started making felt dolls last week. Clay is fun, but messy. Squirrels amuse me, and I like butterfinger ice cream best right now.

As you might have been able to tell, I enjoy drawing and writing stories for my pets (when I have the time). However, I am too impatient and picky to roleplay, and am not good enough at popularity contests to enter the beauty contest. (I did once, my art has gotten better since then, but I still don't want to.)

Customizing pets... I don't like to overdo it. Backgrounds mostly bother me, and the majority of pretty things I might actually be interested in are either expensive or cost NC. Tunicata might receive some clothing at some point, but as she is Maraquan.... The likelihood is less. But I do watch out for pretty things that I feel match a character's story.

I decided on a Faerie Seti for her petpet, and will name it Lune. This means I will have to part with enough hard-earned NP for the brush, but I'll do it eventually. :P *watches with sadness as her bank interest drops again*

Ha ha. Taking joor monies.

I intend to feed her like I do the rest of my pets. Oh you guys are dying again? Stop that. *tosses in cockroach towers* Phear mine mad ownership skillz.

I realize I am probably a terrible owner, but I love my pixels. Silly me. One time I accidentally locked myself out of my account. I missed my Lupe so much I created Taydess and Zaralaeh. Blue Lupes please me.

... My brain gets distracted sometimes.

Why Tunicata? Honestly, I don't know. It never even crossed my mind to get a Maraquan Eyrie (though I love the species) until I saw her. I've seen others up for adoption before, but have never been interested. But Tunicata shows up and all of a sudden I'm creating. It can't be the name, since her story has nothing to do with it. I'm calling her "Kit" instead of any real variation of her name. Though I am very picky about names, and am amused that Tunicata is a sort of sea life. Albeit a creepy sort.

... I really have no idea. I'm sure I could find a better-fitting name for the character she spawned, but I don't want to. I want her.

Seriously though? I saw her, and suddenly I was trying to learn how to code, and drawing her from five different angles, and trying to figure out why she didn't have wings. I'm SHADING, for goodness sake. (Badly, I realize.)

Also, I would like to mention that I really love drawing feathery wings. And I have absolutely no idea why she doesn't have any. I guess I traded them for hind legs somewhere in my head where that makes sense.

When the first due date rolled around, I didn't really have anything I thought worthy of showing to anyone. I was going to send it in anyway, when I realized I now had the rest of the month to fix things. So I've been fixing. A lot. Wow this was garbage. I was in a hurry to make the date I guess, though that's really no excuse for the awfulness that was. :P

Anyway, yeah. I want Tunicata. Kind of a lot.

Also: Man, this color scheme is pretty. That is all.

Things I thought of just now or don't know where to put.

I have applied for a few pets in the past. But apparently I am not up to par for Draik ownership. Silly me. I also applied for a Krawk once, halfheartedly. I loved his name, but wasn't especially attached to the character. Um... I've applied for Xylare, Exosin, Ibasi, Uruvion, and gave up on Fenriok before I really got started, so never applied. All but Exosin (fire Krawk) were Draiks. If you can't tell, I really want one. But so does everyone else. And I am not nearly fancy enough to get myself noticed. :(

I've had pets applied for before. I am apparently not the best judge of character though. I take pound pets, zap them until they're pretty, then adopt them out. I've never traded pets before either, even though some of them might have gotten me something I wanted. Pets I've fostered were Tikalon the Faerie Lenny (Before customization. Could have been UC. Now frozen skunk Shoyru), 6401605 the Jelly Shoyru (frozen), Terribilus the Island Grarrl, and Aliokai, currently a brown Flotsam. I've had other pets pass through, then be dropped off in the pound or transferred without zapping because I knew someone would want them as they were. When I remember to check, I think all of them are still alive, if not well fed. I honestly don't care about if they're fed. Reflects on how I treat my own pets, I expect. But I understand feeling awful because you picked the wrong owner. I would like to say I have absolutely no intention to zap Tunicata or get myself frozen. I've never had a warning (WOOD! Get me WOOD!) and intend to keep it that way.

I frequent the neoboards as a lurker. (Pound, writer, and newbies mostly. Plot if there is one. I'll drop in help sometimes to see if I can assist anyone.) I do enter conversations, but no one has heard of me. I am okay with this. I would try role plays, but... I'm picky and wish for people to stick around and continue things, and for a plot, and for the plot to be more exciting than some silly cub getting herself trapped by poachers (poachers?) every third post... Yeah.
One of my favorites is to make Flit my active and go visit the pet rating boards. His name show up as -blocked-s. Tee hee. I am such a jerk. People go - -blocked-s is an okay name, but I wouldn't want him. Wait. I meant -blocked-s. What did I spell instead? Um... Taydess? Your Ixi's name is blocked. Why? And then I giggle to myself because I am such a jerk. :D

If I were to be gifted with Tunicata, she would have to be sent to Asherbanipal for now. I'm trying to rearrange my pets, and the others with less than four pets are either too young or about to be ditched. :P Eventually... *sigh* Eventually I will get my pets sorted out.

I hope to one day do a comic for the Neopian Times. I just need to start DOING it. And also figure out how to draw Zair so that he actually looks like a skunk Lupe. I finally figured out how I'm drawing Dusk... Gave him stripes instead of the blotchy back markings. So... Yeah. Tunicata would probably be featured. If not a main character. In addition to having a fairly simple design, she feels like she would be terribly fun to write for. Especially her "sidekick" endeavors. I think she might be the missing piece I was searching for to tie some bits together...

Some day I'll actually have something published when I'm applying for pets. That will make me out as less of a liar. Le sighs.

I mentioned I've been slowly working on pet pages, right? Well, I'm going to say here that they all had color on them. Until TNT flipped some switch somewhere that says that the name of the color no longer works like it used to. So... I guess I've just been putting things off, and completely revamping everything. I'm working on Dusk's page right now. But it's a bother to flip accounts, cause I've forgotten before that I'm not on my main and done some dailies. This is bad for my record. So Aeirnae is holding my work until I get to it again. I have a bunch of stuff handwritten in a notebook somewhere too, just... Sometimes I lose it and in any case I'm a slow typer and never learned where the letters are. So it's hard to copy things. Working on it though.

That picture of Tunicata's parents is the cutest thing I've drawn in a while. I actually had classmates "aww"ing over it. :) Now I need to finish the sketching, ink it, scan it, color it... Whee.
