Snowball Fight Guide

At first, Snowball Fight may seem like a pretty easy game. You use your mouse to aim, and click to throw a snowball. If you hit something you get points. That's all there is to it, right? Wrong. True, it's not the most overwhelmingly complex game on Neopets, but it has its share of twists. And hopefully you will have learned something more about it after reading this guide.

The Basics:

At the start of the game, you have 50 snowballs. That's the maximum amount of snowballs you can have. Basically, the point of the game is racking up as many points as possible. You get those points by hitting the neopets and petpets that pop up on the screen with snowballs. To get more snowballs to throw, hit Dieter the Polarchuck with one.

Throwing the Snowballs:

Throwing the snowballs isn't the hard part. What you need to do is hold your mouse over the part of the game screen you want to throw at, and click. What you need to remember is, the snowballs travel in an arc. If you are aiming at something very close, aim a bit lower. If it's far away, aim higher than you think you need to. The only other thing to remember when throwing is the wind. Watch the way the snow falls. If it is getting blown to the right, aim slightly left to compensate; if it's blowing to the left, aim right. Also, the farther away you are aiming, the more it will be blown off course.

Targets:

Now that you are an expert at throwing snowballs, lets move on to your targets. There are five categories of things you can hit with your snowballs:

  1. The Neopets. These are the most common things to pop up on your screen. If you just clip an ear or hat with your snowball, you will get 5 points, but if you give one of them a face-full of snow then 10 points is added to your score.
  2. The Petpets. Less common to see in this game than the neopets, these are smaller and harder to hit. Of course, they also give you more points; 10 for hitting just the top of the head, and 20 for hitting them right in the face.
  3. The Faeries. Less common than the neopets, but more common than the petpets, are every Snowball Fight players least favourite, the faeries. They are the biggest and easiest to hit, but don't be fooled! If you hit one of them they will take 10 snowballs from your store.
  4. Dieter the Polarchuck. This friendly little guy will come floating down your screen from time to time with a parachute. If you hit him, you get 10 snowballs! The tricky part is that he is pretty far away, and therefore harder to hit.
  5. Ollie (aka TPOSG). Yep, he's in this game too! He doesn't pop up very often, but when he does, you get 50 points for hitting him!

Levels & Strategies:

Basically, the more points you have, the higher the level is. And, the higher the level is, the faster everything moves. The faster everything moves, the harder it is to hit. For the beginning levels you easiest strategy is to wait till something pops up, then click. But when things get fast, that method no longer works because your target will have disappeared by the time the snowball gets to it. For those levels, you can guess where something will come up, and click there, or just spray a line of snowballs and hope you don't hit a faerie.

The most important thing is to keep your stock of snowballs full. Don't wait till you have one snowball left to try and hit Dieter the Polarchuck; if you miss you lose the game. A good idea would be to always have at least 10 snowballs on hand, to leave room for several mistakes. See the picture below for an idea of how to aim for Dieter:

During the first few slower levels, aim inside the green circle to catch him. When things get faster, you should aim in the red circle. On the even higher levels, click inside the black circle.

Extras:

There is a legal game cheat for Snowball Fight, like many neopian games. Type snowghettiandmeatball during the game for an extra 10 snowballs. This only works once per game.

On the front page of the game, (The screen that says "SNOWBALL FIGHT" across the top in big letters and has the "Instructions" and "Play" buttons.) in between the H and T in "Fight" is a tiny orange figure. It's circled in red in the screenshot below.

Click it for a surprise!

Well, you've made it to the end of my guide. Thanks for reading, and good luck in all future games of Snowball Fight!
