Ah petpets, the miniature creatures that give camradarie and friendship to our Neopets in ways we can hardly begin to understand. Despite their many available colors and species, these magnificent beings are not simply showpieces to "compliment" our Neopets' look and theme. No, petpets are amazing characters all in themselves! Each petpet is as unique as the Neopet who owns it, and deserves to be given the opportunity to display their personality proudly! Here at Haunted, we honor all things spooky--including the many fantastic petpets that truly exemplify spookiness! While we simply can't list a directory of all the spooky pets in Neopia, we happily list their types and colors so that you can choose the perfect petpet for your spooky Neopet!

If you're looking for the perfect petpet, but you're not sure how to get that spooky look have no fear! I've included a simple list of how to achieve these incredible spooky looks just for you!

Purchase: The simplest, quickest route is to out-right purchase the petpet already painted. For basics, this really is a non-issue--you've got to buy the petpet either way, and if you don't have to worry about a specific paint color, then you're done after this step. For painted petpets, you may have to look at your options. When you can find painted petpets, they're more often on the Trading Post or Auction House rather than in shops, but you may get lucky. Be sure to research the price of the paint brush of the color you want as well as the price of the basic petpet. If the total cost for both the paint brush and the petpet is more expensive than the cost of the already painted petpet--you may get a deal! Be aware, though, that you won't always find a painted petpet for sale, and they're not always cheaper.

Lab: The petpet lab ray IS an option for those who have access to it. Of course, you must have access to the Secret Laboratory before you can access the petpet version. The downside to the petpet lab is that it is completely random, and unlike the Neopet lab, it very rarely changes only color. It also can have many negative effects--even erase your petpet altogether! Lastly, petpets labbed by the petpet lab ray are not protected by the PPL, so will not be eligible for the PPL award. And you cannot paint labbed petpets.

Paint: Painting is the much more straightforward than labbing, and you're sure to get your desired result. Naturally, you have to have the petpet you wish to paint attached to your Neopet. The petpet must also be available to paint in the specific color you're wanting to paint it. Once you've checked that, all you need is a paint brush! Take your petpet and petpet paint brush to the Petpet Puddle, and you will be able to paint your petpet that magnificent spooky color you want. Naturally, like everything else, paint brush prices vary and change regularly with supply and demand, so research your options carefully! The paint brushes for the colors listed here are: Halloween Petpet Paint Brush, Ghost Petpet Paint Brush, Mutant Petpet Paint Brush, and the Zombie Petpet Paint Brush.

Aug. 20th 2010 -- Welcome to the new and improved Haunted! As I'm sure you can see, I've recoded the entire directory. We are now divided into three different pages--the about page, a list of all the petpets that are spooky/can be painted spooky, and the actual directory itself. This will give us more space to play with, along with help with slow loading times (and to keep my browser from freezing EVERY time I try to update the directory, UGH!). Here on the Petpet page, the only updates you will see from now on will be about this specific page. So any changes to this specific page will be posted here, while any updates to the other pages will be noted on those pages themselves. I hope you'll find this version of Haunted more streamlined, easier to navigate, and even more enjoyable than before!
