I will also warn up here. I am including a "story summary". This is because when I try to submit my real writing anywhere the public can view it, I have an big mental breakdown. I'd really wish to not go through that, and I do hope you understand. ^^; Hopefully all my art and such make up for the lack of full written story.

Story Summary

Korifyre was born to an ordinary mother. An average, medium-sized, red dragon. Being that all dragons are born without their markings, it was assumed Kori was also a normal newborn.
It wasn't until Kori began to grow that his mother realized something could be wrong. He developed purple markings and strange little antennae; something that was completely unheard of.

Fortunately their clan was large, which allowed Kori to be hidden for a short time. However, eventually every child must be presented to their alpha. Korifyre's mother could only pray he would overlook her hatchlings strange looks.

Her prayers went unanswered.
Kori was presented to their lord by his nervous mother. Had their alpha been a kind soul, Kori could have went on with his life and grown old in their clan. Unfortunately for the two of them, this was the total opposite of their leader.

There had to be blood mixing, he claimed. This had to be the only explanation for their "freak of nature".
In a fit of anger, their lord shook Kori around wildly by his wings, snapping his weak little bones and shredding the membranes. The young dragon was presumed dead, and left lying in the dust.

Miraculously Kori survived being shaken like a rag doll, and his mother fled the clan with her baby and his father. Which is an oddity in itself; parents rarely raise their children together.
As Kori grew, he wandered away from his parents to find his own home.
Kori suffered few ill-effects from the attack. Now this does not go to say he was not injured; just not in ways he feels are necessarily "bad". This may be because the shaking caused brain damage, but who knows. He defiantly doesn't consider his 'quirks' bad.
Although his wings were broken and torn, they did eventually heal themselves. He discovered quickly that flying wasn't his strong point, bones can only heal so much, but he did find he could swim easily through water; using his wings to propel himself.

The nerves connecting his brain and his limbs were severed. They regrew, but still malfunction. Signals misfire, causing him to develop an odd gait. Kori will trip frequently over his own feet, and when on land, will lose a sense of where his legs are when he closes his eyes for a period longer than ten minutes.

Korifyre wasn't born with the best eyesight, and the attack didn't help much. His vision is blurred to where most things appear merged together, which he claims is better than normal vision.

Humans that lose their sight tend to use other senses to help them get around; usually using their hands to feel their way around rooms. Kori took to feeling objects with his reptilian tongue to get a visual on what something looks like- including humans, which may account for why he has few friends.

Unable to fly with the ease of his parents, Kori took to the water. As a child he would only come onto land when forced, and still spends a majority of his free time exploring the deep ocean he resides in.

He's made his home in an underwater, dry cavern. Although not as large as he would have liked, the dry space has enough room for storage, and for him and his "friend" Khaezil to live comfortably.
On the rare occasion that he does leave the water, he will usually be found watching the sunset over the ocean, or bothering the locals with his craziness.

Generally speaking, Korifyre is now considered one of the biggest oddities you could ever find.

Design

Reference Sheet:
Kori's name, in their native tongue, means "Poison Fire". Although he was born into a Fire clan, he has little or limited fire use. His stomach is well above average in size, shrinking the organ that produces the methane needed for fire-production. This larger stomach makes an overabundance of acid which he can spit up at will.

The purple ends to the four "spines" on his neck are coated and produce neurotoxins similar that of a box jellyfish. Although stronger, so it can have an effect on dragon's tough scales.
The three rings on the end of his tail are made of an unknown material, and they float.The four running the length of his tail are made of purple-tinted metal, and are fixed. They do not move. The tip of his tongue glows, although his eyes do not. His earring is made of hardened glass, connected to his ear with by a gold loop. The bead in the middle is painted wood.
Korifyre's markings are a result of his weird genetics. Somewhere there were recessive genes, pointing towards Kori being related to water dragons. (Fire dragons, like Kori's family, do not have the genes for purple and white, whereas water dragons do.)

Kori is a very feathery dragon; another of his messed up genetic traits. His wings are batlike, apparent by the membrane undersides, but appear birdlike on top; being covered in feathers.

Being able to use limited magic, Kori has the ability to hide his wings, making his body more stream-lined for the water; thriving in his own little deep, cold part of the ocean. Think of Korifyre as a deep sea fish. In the cold waters, he does not need to move quickly, thus enabling him to move around fairly well. His swimming is similar to a seal or other sea creature.

Kori adores tophats, and generally any clothing he considers "upper class". He thinks of himself as superior to humans, and dresses as such. Although his lair is bare of treasure, one of his most prized posessions is his tank of Australian Box Jellyfish, which he had Khae purchase for him.

As if he isn't odd enough, Kori passes time by sitting in front of his aquarium of oceanic killers, talking to them.. and even responding to them, as if they talk to him.

Although dragons don't necessarily need to eat, Kori enjoys apples. Specifically, pink lady apples. Moonlit romantic walks may sound romantic, but he really only enjoys the moonlight. You wouldn't want to go on a walk with him; he would probably annoy you to death.

Along with his superior "tastes", Kori plays dressup. Like a little four year old, he has rooms and rooms of clothing, which he tries on for no reason other than to look at himself in the mirror.

No weirdo is complete without their dislikes. He's a bit antisocial to his own kind - possibly from being thrown around - and detests fire. He can't use it, and believes it truly serves no purpose in the world.

Cats just freak him out. He claims they are the reaper's children, come to take your soul to the underworld. We're not quite sure where he came up with this idea.. perhaps he has a bit of an overactive imagination.

Ah, food. Eating is a luxury, and there are definitely foods he avoids. Asparagus is his ultimate enemy. If he could destory all asparagus crops in the world, he probably would. He's never quite been able to slice a pineapple correctly, either.. he usually ends up throwing the poor fruits again a wall.

Being quite the treasure hunter, though not much to show for it, Korifyre has an annoyance with bronze. It's just not shiny enough for him. It just doesn't have the luster and brilliance of gold, or the sheen and sparkle of silver. If theres a bronze object, he leaves it in its place.

Personality

Korifyre is a quirky little being. He's friendly, but in a weird way. He is one to pull you over and sniff your hair as a hello, instead of an ordinary handshake.
He uses weird phrases such as "You are the goddess of the leprechauns that live in my closet!", and never questions his own sanity.

Although he's weird, Korifyre is usually a kind dragon. Of course he has his moments, but he's generally sweet.. just a little crazy.
Not the most loyal person ever, Kori can be easily distracted. He defiantly wouldn't be the one you ask to come save you - a shiny object might catch his attention.

Khaezil

Now I don't know if Kori's petpet, Khae, will be comming with him, but I've prepared myself just in case.

Occupation: "Servent" of Korifyre

Kori met Khaezil at a traveling circus. I use the term "met" loosely; more like, Kori found the little creature while sneaking around as a show went on.
Khae wasn't really a part of the circus. He was merely someone that traveled with him, having been picked up at his home, the rain forest. He didn't perform, but helped take care of the animals, aided hurt performers, and cleaned up after every show. Still, he was an important member of the cast.

Kori still isn't quite sure what attracted him to Khae. Perhaps it was the bright colors of his feathers, or the boy's wild spirit. Nonetheless, Kori convinced the ringmaster that the circus did not need Khae, and dragged the unenthusiastic teenager back to his cavern.
He now acts as Kori's servent, although he would never admit to the title. Khae refers to himself as a caretaker of the dragon. He's quick to tell Korifyre when he's done something completely stupid and unnecessary, and is just generally sarcastic about everything.

Among the many purposes Khae serves around Korifyre's cavern, he does enjoy one thing; stealing.
He claims his love of sneaking valuables from under your nose comes from the rush of thievery, and not how happy it makes his master. What little treasure Kori has obtained can be credited to Khae's stealthy ways. Korifyre will mention a location, kind of a nudge for Khae to go off and find something valuable there.

Dragon Species

Korifyre comes from a "Fire Dragon" Clan, though maybe you are interested in learning about the other species?

Fire Dragons are basically the "default" dragons - think of your ordinary western-styled dragon, and that's them. They generally have average necks, average body size (although they can range, of course), and average wing size.
The scales of a fire dragon are of medium strength; tight and strong enough to prevent their skin from being burned, though loose enough to let water seep in, and prevent them from swimming well.
These dragons are a social bunch, preferring to live in large "clans", spread throughout various warm areas, but have a strict social hierarchy. Though they all obey the "Dragon King", as all dragons do, they also treat their Clan alpha as though he is also king. (There is only one King of Dragons.)

These dragons excel in the air, and are the best in flight out of the species. They are third in spell intelligence; just below earth and water dragons.
The colors of fire dragons are various shades of red, black, orange, and dull or pale yellow- never bright sunshine yellow.

Fire dragons, of course, can use fire. There are no spells for fire casting - only to aide the fire produced by these beasts. A fire dragon's stomach is very small, pushed out of the way by a very large, methane-producing organ. They will coat their teeth with phosphorus rock by eating it, which reacts with the methane gas they can willingly exhale, creating a magnificent flame.

Water Dragons, are the smaller species. A water dragon will never exceed the size of an average fire or earth dragon. They have longer necks, to aid in a kind of snorkeling - dragons have lungs, after all - though they can hold their breath much, much longer than any other species.
Their scales are very tight and small, giving them a sleek appearence and helping them glide effortlessly through the water. Aiding them further in swimming, are their large, webbed, hand-like feet. These dragons' wings are very small, making them clumsy in the air, but giving less resistance in therr native environment.

Water dragons are generally less social than the rest. Their clans rarely exceed twenty or thirty members, making them a very family oriented species.
The colors of water dragons vary between blues, greens, and purples. These dragons also can have some feathering among their scales, stronger than a birds feathers, though similar in touch.
Water dragons have the largest capacity for spell casting, allowing them to manipulate water at their own will, just as fire dragons can manipulate fire. Along with water spells, they have many spells that help them to hunt fish and other aquatic creatures, as they need to eat much more frequently than the fire dragons, having no methane-organ to constrict their stomach- unless they reside in deeper, cold waters.

A water dragons environment of choice are dry, underwater caverns, or small islands.

Earth Dragons are easily the most intimidating of all the species. They're bulky, short little dragons, that pack a punch. They have the second largest spell capacity, allowing them to move large boulders with ease.
Their legs are closer to the ground, making them the only species of dragon that can comfortably run long distances. Earth dragon scales are extremely tough, though very loose, to allow heat to escape easily. The wings are extremely small, as they rarely use them.

Earth dragons are also a very social species. Though not nearly as much as the fires, they do have rather large clans, buried deep in the ground. They prefer rocky terrain, such as mountains, or large expanses of empty landscape, with loose dirt, such as grasslands.
Although large and intimidating, Earth dragons have a large appreciation for their planet, and are very spiritual beings; they write poems, songs, and riddles often. They are the most likely species to be found planting and growing flowers.

The colors of an earth dragon vary in shades of green, black, and brown.

Ice Dragons are a sub-species of water dragons, and many believe them to be a forbidden cross between the fire and water species, although both clans deny to any blood-mixing. Their build is very similar to the fires; average to long necks, medium bodies, and medium scale strength.
They are also prone to having scale-feathering, to insulate them from the cold climates they live in, such as the poles. Ice dragons tend to navigate towards the very tips of the north and south pole, as they are very anti-social, mysterious creatures.

This species has a tenandancy to be very aggressive, attacking and defending their territory with such ferocity that is unusual to the usually peaceful dragons. These dragons are very rarely seen, and at all costs, avoided. Very little is known about this species.

Gold Dragons are extremely rare; only three of these have ever been born. They are considered a species in their own, having so many different attributes. Their stature depends on which species and clan they are born from, though many details stay the same.
For example, golden dragons can willingly tight and loosen their scales at will, allowing them to vent their bodies, let flames glance off, and keep water away from their skin as they swim.

Definitely the most outstanding attribute to these dragons, is that they are born able to control every element.
These dragons only come in one shade: the most brilliant gold, as if each scale were made from the element.

As with the Ice dragons, little is known about this "species".

Yes, the gold dragons are a bit like that TV show, although all my ideas come from books upon books I have read about dragons; all which were published before the tv show was produced. ...Just in case someone critiquing wants to say something. -- To take off before app is sent

Plans for Korifyre

I have sooo many plans for Korifyre, I don't even know where to begin.First off, I am a big BC contestant.

I've even placed third in Kougra, first in Gnorbu, and third in Jetsam. I haven't been entering long, so I have few trophies, and all the pictures I have entered are on their respective petpages.

I enter the Neopian Times with my short little comics, and I would be happy to be able to feature Korifyre in some of them. I've had one comic successfully accepted into the NT c:
And of course, I am an artist and a roleplayer. A frequent one, at that.

Although I tend to stay off the forums roleplay-wise, (fear of being frozen...) I do roleplay over mails and messengers all the time. I may not be the best, but it's fun and keeps me busy. I roleplay with my friends, including fellow applicant Machatidokidoki.

As an artist, I of course..value art. I'm always looking for good trades, and badgering my friends to draw my characters. ...While that may sound mean, they really don't mind. They get art out of me too, after all. X3 Korifyre would most certainly be drawn all the time; especially since I need to practice my dragon anatomy.

If I were chosen, Korifyre would recieve the best petpage and lookup I could give him. I'm not the best with html, but I'm slowly learning my way around it.

I most definatly would never think of trading Korifyre for anything, or giving him up. Honestly, I laugh at others that trade draiks off. Adopting them out is incredibly generous, and I would cherish Korifyre to no end. If for some reason I just had to leave neopets, I would return him to you. (If that is what you prefer, anyway.)

Kori would most defintly go on my main account, if I were chosen to adopt him.

I also have a strange yet mild fondess for customizing my pets. I'm not very good at it, I admit, but I have some fun. I have around $10 worth of Neo Cash saved away to decorate Korifyre.

About Me

Now that that is done, I can finally tell you a little about me. (:
I go by Trik, and am 16 years old from North Carolina. Ah yes, the south.. how I wish to be up north with the snow. I'm an artist and a roleplayer; that's basically all I do. Sad, I know. Although I have friends, we really don't see each other outside of school, which gives me the time to do all this roleplaying and drawing.

Growing up, I've always had a dog, and I was basically raised until I was four by our family mutt.

I love me some animals! Currently I own a Siberian Husky, a Shepherd/Husky, a Beagle, and two cats. I'm allergic to my cats so I can't play with them much, but they're so amusing to watch.

An Angora has always been my dream cat; I'm happy to have one. I'm with my animals as much as possible, especially the dogs. The two huskies both serve as my sort of un-certified service dogs. (Long story)

Living in the city, I've only been able to own small animals, but I've ridden horses, and am currently looking to compete with barrel racing.

Since I've only really had dog-influences, that's basically all I drew for a long time, but I've always had a fascination with dragons since I bought my first "dragon book" when I was around 7 or 8.

I've loved them ever since I read that book, and collect all kinds of dragon-related merchandise, including the silver dragon medallion I wear daily, that my friend brought back from Italy.

My Neohistory

To get it out of the way first, my old main accounts were Draikgirl10546, and Kingdombear. I had godknows how many side accounts that I never used, and I completely can't remember the names of them.
Trikum is now my main, and Chakrazai, HalfwayDreams, and Remudai are my sides. I don't really know what to call Chakrazai, it's just.. my side. Remudai is my lab account, and Halfwaydreams is my other side that a friend recently gave to me. All are very active sides.

I've been playing Neo since I was 8 years old, and amazingly only been frozen once. My very first account, puppyster, was frozen after I recieved an explicit neomail from some random person. And I was frozen for it, oddly e3e' I just shrugged it off and moved everything to Draikgirl10546.
The only other "warning" type thing I've had, would be when my BC entry for Sorakuj was removed because I had (c)Trikum on it. Silly rule if you ask me xD

I realize now my neohistory may seem short, but that may be because I honestly did not do much other than roleplaying back in the day. I was either coding and writing a petpage or lookup, designing a new character, or roleplaying. I wasn't much of a point-earner, though that has completely changed now.

The Familys

Scrablik: Ah, the cute little baker-boy. His favorite thing in the world is to make cookies and cakes - especially enormous cupcakes! Scrabs is just the sweetest boy, but I don't know how he puts up with Sora..

Sorakuj: And we go from the best friend you could have.. to the worst. Sora is a stuck up, spoiled little rat..llama. He was raised in money, and now "works" at Scrablik's bakery to teach himself "humility".. although all he really does is sit at a table and insult the customers as they come.

Trikum: And this is me, the silly little rabbit-dog. May be unoriginal, but I have an attachment to rabbits and dogs. I love interacting in my characters roleplays!

Extended Family

I also have Syashie, Lebrel, Trizzlai, and Yosetc but none of them have been perfected yet. Lebrel is waiting to be painted (and his page is taken by an application anyway), Syashie is awaiting a personality (I just recently got him), and Trizzlai will be moved to my lab account when I recieve the map, to be put UFA.

Why Korifyre

I've always wanted a draik. They've been my dream pet since I first joined Neopets back when I was 8, hence Draikgirl10546. Although since they were a highly rare pet, and I never knew adopting existed until about two years ago, I never got my chance to actually own one.
Shoyru's and Scorchio's just.. don't say dragon to me, so I was never interested in them to fill my dragon void. I think all draik fans will agree with me on that.

And his name. I read Korifyre, and instantly had a ton of ideas pop into my head for a design and story. I just had to apply for him.
Better yet, over level 20! I actually enjoy battling - I just never got to much on neopets, because training gets so expensive.
Having a pet that I could use in the battledome would be amazing to me. I'd really like to train him even more. I looked into several draiks that were UFA, but I just kept comming back to Korifyre.
