1 - 89 These are the regular 'everyday' items that are sold in the main shops in Neopia. The bigger the number - the more rare the item should be.
90 - 100 These are the rarest of the items sold in the main shops. Note 1: Rarity 99 items do not show up in the NeoPets Search Engine. Note 2: Edible items of this rarity e.g. Food, Baked, Candy etc. count towards the Gourmet Club. Note 3: Rarity 99 Battledome items do appear in the Battlepedia.
100 Some r100 items are special in some way e.g. food obtained from the Golden Dubloon, some contest prizes etc. Note 1: Rarity 100 items also do not show up in the NeoPets Search Engine. Note 2: Edible items of this rarity also count towards the Gourmet Club.
101 - 104 Special Items - these are obtained from the Giant Omelette, Tombola, random events etc. They are marked as 'Special' in your inventory. Note: Painted Petpets are rarity 101 unless they are retired in which case they are (supposed to be) rarity 180.
105 - 110 Special Items - these are obtained from the Giant Omelette, Tombola, random events etc. They are marked as 'MEGA RARE' in your inventory.
111 - 179 Special Items - these are obtained from the Giant Omelette, Tombola, random events etc. They are marked as 'RARITY X' in your inventory.
180 Retired Items - not including retired Hidden Tower items. These items can no longer be bought in the main shops or found in random events. Note: Some retired Hidden Tower items haven't been changed and are still rarity 180.
200 Special items that can only be bought in the Hidden Tower. They are marked as 'Artifact - 200' in your inventory.
240 Retired Hidden Tower items. These are no longer being sold there.
