Toxicity de Hyde
When I signed the agreement, this wasn't exactly what I had in mind.
Look at where I am now.

You were so sure that you had gotten the right directions this time. Glancing at your fuel gauge, you notice that it's almost on empty... great. It's just one unfortunate event after another.
Maybe you'll find a gas station or something of the sort if you keep driving. But as you wind down the road, you realize that the surroundings are changing; dead trees line the road that has now changed from pavement to dirt. How creepy.
Wow. You must have really gotten lost. The road ends, and you can see in the distance a rather large old, beaten up building. Just your luck! Maybe someone in there can help you.
As you get out of your car and approach the building, you think that maybe that isn't the best idea. Almost all the windows are broken and busted, spiderwebs lining every crack. Could someone really live here?

Just as you attempt to knock on the faded red-colored door, it creaks and slams wide open with a gust of freak wind. Gulping, you cautiously step inside.
Shelves line every wall, filled with books. It's the same for the upper level, you notice. Could this be a library? Everything seems dusty and unused.
A strange noise catches your attention. It sounds like a faint music beat, and you trace its origins to the staircase leading downstairs. Someone must be here, then!
You quickly make your way down the noisy steps, open the rotting door at the end and you find yourself standing in a brightly lit room. Everything looks remodelled and cozy compared to the upper floors...
In the middle of the room, you see a boy sitting on a plump beanbag chair, reading a book. His head bobs up and down, tapping his feet, and you notice the tiny headphones in his ears: the source of the noise that lead you hear. He hasn't seen you yet.

Um.. excuse me, but... you stop as his head shoots up from his book, alarming red eyes looking at you in shock. He plucked the headphones out of his ears and set his book down.
You become slightly nervous as he walks towards you, examining every inch of you with those eyes of him. Now he stands directly in front of you, still staring quizically. Suddenly, he raises his hand and pokes you lightly.
Whatever revelation this poke presented made him gasp. Oh wow! An actual visitor! I though I was just imagining things! he laughs nervously, but stops suddenly. Oh gosh, how rude! I'm so sorry I poked you like that, I really, really thought I wasn't thinking straight.. I'm just so tired of waiting for him, yknow? He's been gone for hours. What a jerk! Not even a phone call or anything. Well, we don't have phones here... he should buy one! That's right! I'll give him a piece of my mind when he gets back.
....You never knew anyone could ramble so much. You clear your throat, trying to get him out of his rave, and to your relief, he snaps back to you.
Ahaha.. sorry about that. I get worked up easily when I'm tired. he runs a hand through his sandy blonde locks, Oh, um, I'm Oni Diethyl. Nice to meet you!
Nice to meet you too. You shake his hand, Say, do you have any fuel? My car's kinda on empty now.. it was a stroke of luck when I found this place.
Fuel? Hm. No, we don't have any here... oh! Wait! Tox is out right now, but when he comes back, we have a tank of fuel in our car that you could use. he smiles happily, satisfied with his reasoning.
That's great! When do you think he'll be back? Things seem to be looking up for you.
Ugh. Knowing that guy, he'll be hours. He's so not used to this time yet, yknow. Loves looking around and shopping for stuff. I swear, it's a miracle he ever comes back here. ....well, maybe not.
Not used to this time? Huh? Who is this.. Tox? you ask curiously.
Oni took a pompous look, immitating a shrill voice, I'm Toxicity de Hyde! A noble wizard! Respect me or I'll make you my next voodoo victim!
You step back a bit, raising a brow.
Oni sighs. Grab a seat, eh? he plops down on his beanbag and pointed to another next to his. You sit down, still a bit confused. He's now rumaging through a pile of books on a small, round table in front of him and pulls out a plain, black covered book.

It's kinda creepy... Tox said the book wrote itself, until he put a spell on it.. it's the one I found him in. Oni throws the book on your lap, ignoring your obvious questioning at his latter statement, It's a bit long, but after this you'll know who Toxicity de Hyde is. By the time you're done, he'll probably be back, too. Good luck!
He gives you a thumbs up, then re-opens his own book... which, on closer inspection, is actually a comic book. Heaphones back on, he seems to be in his own world now. You stare at the black cover, pending whether you should read it or not.
What have you got to lose? Shrugging, you open it...

The great witch-hunts that took place between the years 1450 and 1750 were mass genocides of any woman with free thought or speech. They were accused of witchcraft and burned alive or tortured to death by the peasants of these medieval times, who thought that women with a mind of their own were involved with evil magic. Never would they suspect a man of noble stature guilty of such deeds, though. It was unthinkable…
No one knows exactly where or when the boy known as Toxicity was born, but we know it was during this period in time. He was a strange looking orphan, with black hair, piercing golden eyes, and an
okay so neopets is being stupid and deleted like 3/4 of tox's story! I don't even remember it so I won't bother writing it again 8)

I've decided to keep a record of my time in this strange era in a desperate attempt to keep myself from strangling the one who freed me. I've been out only but a few days and already the ghost's voice has become my least favorite noise in the world. How am I ever going to continue my research like this...?
August the 12th, 2004 I've started teaching the boy the dark arts. He says that after we transfer his soul into a new body, we'll do the same for me. He seemed sincere about it... an idiot like Oni wouldn't be able to pull off such a believable lie.
November the 17th, 2004 The ritual was a success. He's currently outside in his new body(perhaps not that new, since we used his old one that we dug up), prancing around like a child in the snow. We've had quite a lot of it lately... I haven't noticed it much. I wish I could feel the cold. Or anything at all..
December the 1st, 2004 I felt the cold snow against me and the warmth of the candles we had lit today. Finally, I have my own body. I did not ask Oni where he found it, I only know that it was unconscious when he brought it here for the ritual. Guilt and remorse were nagging him, and I almost thought he was about to cry at one point. I told him that sacrifices were meant to be made if we were to continue living. A body produced by this ritual will last up to two years, then it will begin to rot and decay; the soul that houses it is, after all, dead.
January the 13th, 2005 Out of curiosity, today I asked him how he died. He mumbled something about a fire, and it made me feel rather nostalgic. He hasn't said much since I told him about the finer details of our body-changing ritual.
January the 28th, 2005 That idiot! He brought home ----
You quickly snap the journal shut as you hear steps coming down the stairs.
Oni! I've returned. You'll never guess what I found... this has to be some sort of witchcraft.. a voice rambles, The shopkeeper called it a "lavalamp". It's absolutely amazing!
The door opens, and a man comes into the room. He's dressed all in black, has strangely colored hair and is holding a lavalamp.
As he scans the room, his eyes widen when he notices you holding the journal. He drops the lamp in shock, not even wincing when it shatters on the ground. You NIMROD! he screams in rage, waking Oni up immediatly. You let someone in!? You let them read my journal!? he walks up to you and snatches it from your hands, glaring daggers and swords at the now cowering boy.
A-aw, c'mon, Tox... they just need some fuel for their car. And I gave them your book so that they weren't bored to death while waiting for you to come here.. they must have picked up your journal by accident, no biggie! he pleads, slightly stuttering.
Tox's eyes quickly snap towards you. If looks could kill, you'd be ten feet under right now. If you wanted to know more about me, all you had to do was ask, fool.

Oni Diethyl Ah, Oni... a small chuckle escapes him as he glances over at the now sleeping form of the boy, curled up into a ball on his beanbag. I have to admit, though his antics drive me mad, I'd still be stuck in that book if fate hadn't brought him here. He's shown me mostly everything I need to know about this era and doesn't treat me like the slave I'm supposed to be. I guess you could call him a... friend.
He has a soft expression on his face, but he immediately glares as you notice it. If you ever breathe a word of this to him, I'll bury you alive.
You gulp and nod.

You hear something bark. Looking around, you spot a strange dog-like creature sitting on a tuff of ripped up pages. It has no eyes, sharp fangs and different horns on each side of its head. Stitches are everywhere on it, as well as different-colored fur... it seems to have various needles pinned on its back and on its skeletal tail. Upon further inspection, you notice a collar around its neck with a tiny head dangling from it.
Ah, Cyanide! Tox speaks affectionatly, patting the creature on its head as it approaches him. This is our.. pet of some sorts. Oni brought me a dying dog one night, saying he found it roaming around the library. He ordered me to "heal" it, but of course, I can't do such a thing. He rolls his eyes.
I could, however, "patch" it up a little. The dog died, and I used various... animal parts to rebuild him. He points at the places where the stitches are apparent, where the fur changes from its original green to a dull blue-grey.
I've named him Cyanide, a wonderful poison that I sometimes use. He's quite loyal now, and I can stick my stray pins and needles in him; he doesn't seem to mind. He pat Cyanide's head again, chuckling when the creature's skeletal tail wagged in glee.

I hope you've learned enough about me to ease your annoying curiosity. Tox sighs overdramatically, pushing you towards the door. It's time you leave, now. I have more important things to do than to babysit every lost soul that comes wandering in here. Just be glad Oni got to you before I did.
You both climb up the stairs and exit the old library. Tox fills yous gas tank, and as you're about to thank him, he speaks first, Do try not to get lost again, hmm? Next time you might end up in our dumpster with a few limbs cut off. Perhaps some organs, too, if I need any... a hint of mischief shone in his voice.
You laugh nervously, wondering if he's actually being serious. You quickly thank him and hop in your car, driving away as fast as you can.
