About me:
Hi, my name is Mary Catherine, but everyone calls me MC or Lobster. I respond to all three! I'm a French major and a senior at university. I'm fluent in French and English, and have studied Japanese and Spanish as well. The coolest thing I have done at college is studying for three months in Avignon! If you ever get the chance to visit, I totally recommend it. :D
I've been playing on Neopets since 28 June 2001! Wow! That's a long time! Back then I was on the account jedimastermc, which is now a side account. I was only 13 back then. Neopets has taught me a lot since then: economics, supply and demand, how to draw, how to work art programs, how to do spreadsheets, how to goal set and work towards a goal, HTML/CSS, and lots more! Man, who would've thought a silly pet website could teach you so much?
Neopets has also introduced me to many wonderful people who have become lifelong friends. The coolest place I've been to visit a Neofriend was Norway! I've seen some other great places too and had a lot of fun. All of my friends truly bring light and joy into my life. I love you all! *squish*
Friends and learning are not the only reasons Neopets means so much to me. I spent almost all of my teen years sick and oftentimes bedridden. Just about the only thing I could handle was to sit at my computer (and sometimes I couldn't even do that). Neopets kept me connected to the world at a time when I was too sick to even go outside my front door. Today I'm doing a lot better, but I'm still chronically ill and will be for the rest of my life. I take things on a day by day basis and some days are better than others. Even though I'm not as sick as I once was, Neopets is still a connection to me and always will be.

Q: How much did it cost to paint Jeera?
A: I believe I spent 115K the first time, and 125K for the second one, to repaint her after Boochi zapped her. Yeah, it was quite a long time ago now. The same PB for Bert ran over 300K. :P Now of course it's only worth like 90K. Ah, the joyful ups and downs of the Neopian economy.
Q: Where do you live?
A: This nifty little place called Earth. You might have heard of it.

Q: I see you posting on the boards, and you change your font in every post! Why do you do that? How do you do it so fast? Isn't it annoying?
A: *cackle* NC Mall Neoboard Pens are the greatest! Don't you agree? (They cost 300 NC, or $3 US each.)
Q: Didn't I used to see you in the BC a lot?
A: Yep, I used to be a BCer, you are correct! I'm not anymore, but I still talk to several of my friends from those days. The BC just stopped being fun for me.
Q: Which of your pets have BC trophies?
A: Considering how many times I did the BC, my pets don't have very many trophies. It's rather pathetic, actually. Which is one of the reasons I stopped entering. (One can only take fourth place so many times. Three years worth was pretty much my limit.) But here are the few trophies I did earn.

A: I made a table and had the picture be the background. I put a scrolling text area in one of the table cells.

Q: Why does it say "Stealth!" for your Last Spotted?
A: This is a feature of Premium Neopets. Because I am Premium, I have the ability to hide my Last Spotted so nobody knows if I'm on. I have my reasons for doing this, mostly because sometimes I am ill and only on for a few minutes and do not want any distractions. All Premium members can do this, as well as people who participated in some toolbar promotion way back. I think it was the one that got you an Ice Bori, but I could be wrong, as I did not do that promotion.
Q: What's Premium Neopets? Can I have it?
A: Premium Neopets is the greatest! You get no ads, access to the Portal, Portal SHHs (Something Has Happened's), the Super Wiz which checks ALL the shops, weekly Space Faerie Scratch Cards, free NP monthly or yearly, access to the Premium boards, the I Love Neomail avvie, the Lucky Space Faerie Charm for 2 referrals which randomly doubles NP from a Flash Game and increases on-site random events, and a special sidebar/avvie for more referrals. It costs about $8 US monthly or $70 US yearly. You get a two-week free trial but you DO need a credit card to sign up. I have 16 referrals left and I'd LOVE to send off more. ^^

A: I won second place in week 79, Dressing Dolls. Personally I think it was the humor as I certainly didn't live up to much else, LOL. (I hope NeoStaff gets Adam some undies like the ones I put on him, though. O_o)
Here were the rules:
Get our your paper and maybe some cardboard! The contest this week is to make a Neopets themed paperdoll. Not Usuki. You should make the generic doll and then four outfits to go on the doll. Make sure you show a picture of the doll with at least one of the outfits on it. We want to make sure the outfits actually fit on the doll. :) Please, remember that this should be Neopets-themed. When you submit your entry make sure that you list all items that you used to make the doll in your description. We will judge your creations on quality, creativity, and of course humour.

OK, I used cardboard from my Star Wars DVD packaging. (*sob* You guys made me cut it up... Just because it was trash didn't mean I was gonna throw it away....) Then I used the image of Adam you get when you search for "asparagus" as a reference. The outfits were made on printer paper. I sketched an outline, inked it, and colored it in with Prismacolor colored pencils. Then I cut them out (tell Lawyerbot that even though I'm 19 my Daddy was watching). And put them on Adam. Isn't he sweet? Oh, and the reason why the Donna outfit isn't in the first image is: I didn't realize I needed four outfits (I thought it said three) and my digital camera was dying so I couldn't reshoot. But rest assured Adam is sitting on my moniter wearing Donna's clothes. Interpret that how you will.
As I said, I think it was the humor. :P If you actually read through all that, take a gluten-free cookie. :D They're quite good!

A: I won second place again in week 81, Brilliant Designs. I spent quite a lot of time on it and was very proud of it. Plus, it's just fun to wear.^^

Well, as I'll never have any of these spiff-tastic items myself, I decided to make a charm bracelet with them as consolation. As you can see, any "1337 BDer" would be PROUD to sport this lovely silver charm bracelet with colorful charms! Items are (left to right): Battle Dung, Thyoras Tear, Seasonal Attack Pea, H4000 Helmet, and Jade Scorchstone. Modeling the bracelet is my ghostly white wrist, courtesy of Neopets. ;)
Materials:
Sculpey brand oven-bake clay, acrylic paints (not used on every charm), lobster clasps and metal circle dealies to attach the charms (so they are removable and can be switched around), a bracelet I bought at a local crafts store, and clear nail polish to make them shiny and protect them.
It's very light to wear, actually- lighter than my other charm bracelet. It's also a lot of fun. I expect I'll be getting a lot of attention wearing it. I worked really hard on this. The two hardest charms were the H4K and the Jade SS.
As a side note, you guys have really creepy timing! I made a pair of Neopets earrings (the same way) not two weeks ago. O_o This goes GREAT with them. Are you watching me? O_o
