Welcome to my guide on how to paint your Neopets! I'm Ticowazoo, and as you can see, I am a Faerie Kau. I love being painted, and I figured--hey! So would other Neopets! But a lot of owners have questions about how to paint their pets and needed a place to come to have them all answered. That's what I hope to be able to do here. So, if you're ready, let's get started! Feel free to jump to any section you so choose and get your dreaming caps on because when it comes to painting your pets, the sky's the limit! (Oh, and one last thing: If you have any questions, or see something that needs to be fixed, please neomail my owner gladgal01. Paint Brushes-List Magical Chia Pops-FAQ Magical Chia Pops-List Potions-FAQ Transmogrification Potions-List Link to Me Frequently Asked Questions A paint brush is a nifty item that allows you to change the color of your pet, or to paint them. They vary in price and rarity. How do I pick which paint brush to use on my pet? Most people pick paint brushes based on personal choice or what color looks best for their pet's species. Price of the paint brush also is an important element (see below for a list of prices). You need to research the price of the paint brush you want and make sure you have neough neopoints to buy it. You should work hard to save your neopoints, and not beg others for them; it is not fair. By saving up for the paint brush yourself, you will be much more appreciative of it, and saving also gives you time in case you decide to buy another paint brush. For all color options, you can go to the Rainbow Pool and browse "All Pet Colors" either by Species or by Color. Whatever options you see there are the ONLY options currently available to paint your pet. That said, if you really like the color Camouflage, but don't see Kau listed under the available pet species, it means that you cannot paint your Kau Camouflage. Keep your eyes open, though, because TNT usually releases new colors on Pet Days (check to see when your pet's day is here). Note: The Stone and Glass paint brushes, while they are real paint brushes, do not paint pets anymore: ![]() ![]() We're collectors items now! Also, the Lutari Paint Brush currently does not paint any pet: ![]() Who can I paint? Starter Paint Brushes are found in newbie packs (when you first create a new account). You will not be able to sell, trade, or auction them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() o_O Where do I get a paint brush? Paint brushes can be found in many places throughout Neopia. If a paint brush costs under 100,000 neopoints (100k), then you should be able to find it using the Shop Wizard. If a paint brush costs 100k or more, it is often called an Unbuyable (UB) because it cannot be bought in players' shops. However, you can buy it from the Trading Post or in the Auctions. If you are looking for a Baby, Royal, or Darigan paint brush, then there is the option of purchasing it from the Hidden Tower. Some players are even lucky enough to win a paint brush from chance games (like the Wheel of Monotony or the Fruit Machine), from converting a World Challenge map, from a scratchcard, or from a Random Event! Okay, I have my paint brush...where do I go to paint my pet? To paint your pet, have the paint brush in your inventory and go to the Rainbow Pool. Make sure that it is not in an auction, trade, or your safety deposit box. At the Rainbow Pool, there will be a section called "Your Brushes." Choose the brush you want to paint your pet with. and then select the pet you would like to paint. Remember that not every species can be painted any color. If your pet canot be painted the color of your brush, you will get an get an Error. You can either hold on to the paint brush, hoping that TNT evetually will allow your pet to be painted that color; you can sell; or you can paint another pet. Are there other ways my pet can be painted without a paint brush? Yes, there are. The Lab Ray can paint your pet any color except Usuki, Plushie, Baby, Pirate, or Royal (for a wonderful guide on the Lab Ray, please visit JustToClearThingsUp's petpage). Your pet can be zapped Baby by Boochi, a crazy baby Bruce who shows up in Random Events. However, sometimes he misses and won't change your pet. Your pet can also be painted by the Fountain Faerie upon completing one her quests (for more information see colored_buzz's petpage). The only colors that a pet cannot be painted by the Fountain Faerie are MSP Poogle, Royal or Robot. Please Note: Some people are not nice players and will try to SCAM others into buying fake paint brushes. Beware of these imposters: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Watch out for our stitching! :P These are paint brush plushies, and are only TOYS! All your pets can do is play with them. Scammers will often try to say that they have a paint brush that normally cannot be found in players' shops in their own; or they might say they have a VERY DISCOUNTED paint brush in their trades or auctions. There's no harm in ONLY LOOKING to see if they are right. Most of the time, however, the item is only a plushie. A good rule of thumb: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Some times, players will try to sell petpet paint brushes as pet paint brushes. Be sure to READ the item name before purchasing, to make sure it does not say petpet. Also, keep in mind that Sparkly Blue and Sparkly Green Paint cannot paint your pets either. They are only Neoschool Supplies. ![]() ![]() Don't buy us. We won't make your pet pretty! :( This list goes from most expensive to cheapest. The prices are accurate as of 09/08/2007, and are an average. So, you will see prices that are higer and lower than what are listed here. If the price is listed as Unknown it is because 1) no prices are visible, or 2)the item isn't in either the auction or on the Trading Post. Magical Chia Pops are technically food that when fed only to a chia will change it's color to whatever flavor the magical chia pop is. The colors are fruits and vegetables. Where can I get a Magical Chia Pop? Because these items change the color of a pet, they are quite expensive, just like a paint brush. That said, you can find them on the Trading Post, in the Auctions, or they will occasionally restock at the Super Happy Icy Fun Snow Shop. How do I use a Magical Chia Pop? Have the Magical Chia Pop in your inventory, free from trades or auctions, and feed it to your Chia. But why do I see Chia Pops that aren't on your list? Chia pops are food first and foremost, and only certain ones (i.e. the ones listed below and at the Rainbow Pool) will change a chia's color. The others are just food that you can feed to any pet to make its tummy happy ;). Please Note: Just as with Paint Brushes, scammers exist who will tell you that a certain chia pop is magical when in fact it is not. Always double check at the Rainbow Pool and see if a flavor is a color option for your Chia. ![]() Sorry, I'm just for gastric enjoyment. This list is alpahbetical by item name. The prices are accurate as of 09/08/2007, and are an average. So, you will see prices that are higer and lower than what are listed here. If the price is listed as Unknown it is because 1) no prices are visible, or 2)the item isn't in either the auction or on the Trading Post. What is a Morphing/Transmogrification Potion? These potions can change your pet's color, species, or both--just from one bottle! Not every combination of species and color is available as of right now. TNT usually releases new potions on Pet Days (check to see when your pet's day is here); so if a certain morphing/transmogrification potion isn't currently an option for your pet, keep your eyes open! Please Note: You can get the "Magical Kauvara" avatar by using a Morphing or Transmogrication Potion on your pet. Now THAT is a pwnful avvie! What is the difference between a Morphing Potion and a Transmogrification Potion? The easiest way to explain is a Transmogrification Potion turns your pet's color into a Mutant of whatever species the potion is. Only use a Transmogrification Potion if you want a mutant pet (if not, then use a morphing potion). So, if you have an Aisha Transmogrification potion and you use it on a red pteri, you will get a Mutant Aisha. + = ![]() Hmmmmm...where do you feed it? With a Morphing Potion, the color and species changes are much more varied. What it says is what you get! Why would I want to use a Morphing or Transmogrification Potion instead of a Paint Brush? A Paint Brush can only change the color of your pet. If you ever want to change the species of your pet, you either have to get a new pet (aww, how sad), or use a Morphing/Transmogrication Potion for a different species. However, beware: If you have a painted pet and want the same color, but just a different species, you must find a morphing potion that is that exact color; if that is not an option yet, you will need to find any morphing potion to change the species, and then you will have to repaint your pet. Yikes! So, only do this if you can afford it, as morphing and transmogrification potions are expensive! Where can I find a Morphing/Transmogrification Potion? There are many places to find one: Kauvara's Magic Shop, on the Trading Post, in the Auctions, on the Shop Wizard (but only those worth under 100k nps), and you may even find one from a Random Event. How much does a Morphing/Transmogrification Potion cost? The prices vary greatly, and due to the massive amount of currently available potion, I won't list them (maybe in the future, if I have more time). The cheapest one right now is the Green Uni Morphing Potion; it sells for about 11,000 nps (as of 09/08/2007). Just research carefully before your purchase and check out all places where one can be found to find the best deal. ![]() Yay, I'm cheap!! How do I use a Morphing or Transmogrification Potion? Have the item in your inventory, free from trades or auctions. Click on the item, and go to the drop down menu in the pop-up. Select "Use on (your pet's name)." These are a one use only item. Double check the pet's name before hitting "Submit," or you will paint the wrong pet. List of Transmogrification Potions Below are pictures of all of the available Transmogrification potions as of 04/09/07. For the time being, I have not included prices or names of the potions. I hope I was able to help you out a little bit and help you decide the best plan of action to paint your pet. Just work hard, always keeping your goal
in sight, and you will get your dream pets. And they will be oh-so-amazing! Best of luck and Happy Neopet-ing! |
