Franny used to work as a health and safety officer for the powerpland and she and Thebium became close friends. Thebium really likes her, specially because she hates her work just as much as he does his. Unfortunately, Franny, too, had fallen ill. After two years of friendship she passed away.

.Thebium - Employee no. 3592.
When he was younger, Thebium used to work at a nuclear power plant. To be exact, he was employee number 3592. He went to his work everyday at 9:00 am, and went home again at 5:30 pm. His job was to keep the machines up and running, so the power plant would meet the safety requirements all the time.
One day, other employees noticed a small leak at one of the nuclear reactors. They send no. 3592 to the broken machine to fix it. Nothing to worry about, they said...

.The Hospital.
When Thebium woke up he found himself lying in a hospital bed, surrounded by tubes and beeping machines. He couldn't feel his right hand or foot and his tail and ears also felt numb. When a nurse entered the room, he asked what had happened. She told him he was lucky to be alive.
The nuclear reactor exploded and many were killed in the blast. All the other employees were taken to the hospital where they were treated for radiation overdose. Thebium was one of them. This also explained the numb feeling in his arm and leg. When he looked at them, he saw they were slowely turning grey and when he looked better he saw tiny streams of smoke escaping from his dead fur. They could still be moved, but Thebium wouldn't be able to feel his hand, leg, ears or tail ever again.
The power plant was shut down and once Thebium got out of the hospital he had to find another job.

.A New Life.
Nowadays, Thebium works as a system administrator for a large company. Again, he works from nine to five, but this time he has to work a lot of extra hours to keep up with the amount of problems that occur.
He works 'till late at night and drinks a lot of coffee to prevent himself from falling asleep. The markings on his hand and feet will continue to grow all his life, until they reach his vital organs. He doesn't bother too much, though. Most of the time he's too tired to bother.
He used to like going to work but since the accident he isn't able to do anything else than sit behind his laptop and type long, boring reports about difficult tiresome things. Good for him he only has 15 years left to live.
