[6.29.06] Looks like Ollie is still in the Staff Tournament, for all of us Roo Islanders. Let's wish him luck!
[6.26.06] Say goodbye to the Altador Cup... Darigan Citadel conquered Roo Island in a surprising finish, knocking us out of the race. The final two teams are DC and Haunted Woods. But this isn't over. Over the course of the Altador Cup, users have been pitted against each other, but we've also managed to come together. I stand as an eternal ROOligan, whichever team I may join the the finals. I hope you do the same. Thanks to all who have helped support this page during the tournament, and those who will stick by it all the way through. We're all ROOligans at heart.

[6.20.06] We've still got it!! Roo Island has advanced to the 3rd round with the second highest score! Check here for previous rounds and scores. And remember: it's not too late to join RI!
[6.19.06]The second round has begun! If your team did not advance, click here to switch to Roo Island.
From the tournament updates page: "So, now that the first round has drawn to a close, the early speculation surrounding which player might win the tournament's Most Valuable Player award has centred on forwards Lilo Blumario (Roo Island), "Dasher" Soley (Krawk Island), and Volgoth (Mystery Island).
[6.13.06] We won!!! Congratulations to all the people who contributed to our win the first round of the Altador cup, against Tyrannia.
[6.12.06] Tournament results are pending. The first round was completed yesterday.
[6.8.06] The tournament begins today, 8 pm NST! Round 1: Roo Island vs. Tyrannia.
On [6.7.06], a member of Team Kiko lake was injured, so it seems that even after we join a team, it's stats can change. The teams change over time, just as real sports teams do.
[6.6.06] In the NF: Don't forget! The first round of the Altador Cup tournament begins June 8th. If you haven't chosen a team yet, make sure to do so before time runs out!
[6.5.06] Welcome to the Roo Island HeadQuarters. Of course, this page is for those of us who are wise enought to support RI in the Altador Cup. This page is a way to get in touch with fellow team members and fans, exchange tips, and show your support for our favorite team! If you'd like to contribute anything to this page (say a banner, tips, or anything else), let me know!

The Roo Island Team consists of a a group of four first time players under the leadership of one of the league's most coveted players. The team members are talented, but inexperienced. That's not stopping them, and it shouldn't stop us either.
The team is very fast, and has excellent accuracy for shooting and passing, however Roo Island is notorious for its comparatively poor goal-keeping.

Lilo Blumario is the team's star player, captain, and right forward. He returned to play with his home team, Roo Island, turning down high stake offers from other teams.
Clutch Billaban is the team's goal keeper. When he is completely focused on the game, it is almost impossible to score by him, but more often than not he isn't at the top of his game.
Dayla, Roo Island's left foward, is one of the fastest players in the league. Her most ardent fans claim that once she becomes more familiar with the game, she will be one of the league's best scorers.
Fenny Vail, although best in her regular position of left defender, is also capable of moving up as the team's third offensive player. Albeit fast, Fenny has difficulty with the accuracy of her shots.
Gordo Gunnels, with his enormous strength, is known for his amazing work as Roo Island's right defender. Although not a very good scorer, Gordo's strength and size have proved useful in defending his team's net. He is renowned for his ferocious blindside tackles, which have earned him the reputation of the most feared defendor playing this year.
General
I've found that the best team formation overall was the offensive: 3-1-1. As there is not a 100% chance that we can get to the Yooyu before the computer, the three players up front make it easy to steal the Yooyu from any side.
However, you can also play well in the 2-2-1 formation. x_tilla_x has noticed that if you start with the bottom player in front, steal the Yooyu, and run straight to shoot it, you also have a pretty good chance at scoring.
If you dislike waiting for the Yooyu to appear at the beginning and between goals, you can press your spacebar to skip that scene (thanks to olympus803 for the info). Also, if you click a spot on the field, without any players selected, your closes team member will head over to that spot (thank you to morninglightdreams).

Yooyus
The ball is a big factor in deciding how to play. The fact that the ball we get is random every time makes it difficult to plan shots during a game, but there are certain strategies you can keep in mind before the game determines which Yooyu you (^_^) get.
The Fire Yooyu is, in my opinion, the easiest ball to play with. This ball is the fastest, and so it has the least chance of being intercepted in a pass, or blocked during a shot. My strategy with this ball was to steal it from one of the opposing team's forwards and then avoid them as I guide my player to the goal. I tend to go wide, over to either the right or left and aim at the inside of the goal post farthest from me. The goal keeper will move so that they are as close in my direction as possible, so they will not have time to head to the other end of the goal.
Out of all the Yooyus, this one is the safest on long distance shots and passes. Use this to your advantage while playing, because shooting and passing get you accross the field faster than running with one player.

The Snow Yooyu seems to slow down the players (it might just be my imagination though). It is not s fast as the Fire Yooyu, and doesn't retain its speed very long either. When passing and shooting with this Yooyu, be careful because it is slow and, therefore has a greater chance of being intercepted. I'd suggest pretty much the same for this ball as the Fire Yooyu, except for the fact that this ball is better suited to shorter passes and shots because (again) it is slow to begin with, and gets even slower pretty fast. You should run up nearer to the goal at an angle before shooting.

Another way would be to position your player directly in front of the opposing goal keeper, turn to one corner and shoot (thanks secretsnowbunny.)

The Faerie Yooyu seems to be the most difficult to play with. This ball curves around the field, never following an angular path. Although it doesn't curve randomly, it is still rather hard to control this ball and get it where you want to go. If you divide the field in half horizontally, you can see that the direction this ball curves depends on whether your player is above that line, or below it. As the screenshot below shows, the ball curves slightly upwards, then follows a downward path if your player shoots from above the horizontal line. If the player is below, the ball does the opposite.
This makes it difficult to shoot at the goal from an angle, because most of the time the ball will simply roll into the goal keeper's hands. The approach that seems to work best is shooting head on, at soem distance from the goal, because the ball will curve over to one side. In the screen shot taken above, getting the ball past the goal keeper was pretty lucky as he was really close to it, but this strategy usually works. It might take a little bit of time to get used to it, however, practice makes perfect! I've also notice that when passing, if you click right in front of the player you want to pass to (without unselecting the player that is passing), the passer will usually make adjustments to their kick so the Yooyu rolls to the player receiving the pass.

You are no longer able to pass the ball to your goalie to hold until the end of the game. There is now a 5 second limit. (Thanks, kittylover2010.)

Please feel free to contribute.

I'm not very good at this, so let me know if I've given any misinformation or if you'd like to add something.

The Game

It won't send my score! What do I do?
Try exiting out of the playing window and opening it again. If you're experiencing this problem, re-open the window for each game you play.

The Tournament

My team lost! Can I join another one?
Yes, you can! TNT said in the news that it is recommended as well, because prizes will be awarded depending on how much you play. Click here to join another team.
