Stamp Collector - Mystery Island" Avatar This is probably the hardest page to complete in the whole album. There are five r99s, six specialty stamps that are hard to obtain and the Island Acara Stamp is retired and only going to get pricier. The avatar for completing this page is probably one of the reasons the stamps are so expensive.

Stamp Collector - Tyrannia" Avatar This stamp page has some doozies. To translate from the Australian vernacular - there are eight hard to get stamps on this page. Wock til You Drop is the most difficult but two stamps have a rarity of 110. You will have really earned the avatar when you complete this page.

The Year 5 Stamp and the Seasonal Stamp are both retired but still fairly easy to get. Neopia Central Scene has no STAMP after the name. Three stamps are hard to get with Petpets Stamp and Midnight Jelly World being very difficult.

This page is almost impossible to complete due to the difficulty of obtaining the Golden Mr Irgo Stamp. There are seven other highly priced stamps on this page but only one r99.

The Candychan Stamp is retired and getting more and more difficult to obtain - see my introduction to this page. It went for about 1.3 million Feb 2006 but by August it is fluctuating from 5mil to 8mil. Other than Candychan there are only two highly priced stamps for this page.

I hesitate to say this page is easy - perhaps we will go with "It's not too hard". There are six highly priced stamps on this page, none are retired or specialty stamps and only one r99.

Stamp Collector - Lost Desert" Avatar The Ummagine Stamp is retired and getting harder to obtain, it is being traded for around 4 million now. Two other hard to get stamps in this section are Holographic Coltzans Shrine and the Coltzan Stamp which is the most difficult. Midnight Desert Lupe has no STAMP after the name, nor has Holographic Coltzans Shrine or Holographic Sakhmet City. There is an avatar when you complete this page.

There are three expensive stamps in this section but this is probably the easiest page to complete in the whole album. Battle Slices is the only r99 and the retired stamp, Ring of Sloth, is still readily available. Go get 'em!!

A lot of these coins are very expensive, probably because only two are below r90. The prices seem to be coming down a little over time but this is not an easy page to complete, especially with two items being r100.

Ten of the stamps here are expensive with the three r99s all being very highly priced. No retired or specialty stamps, so with time and neopoints this page is a good one to attempt to complete.

I think this is one of the prettiest pages. There are eight highly priced stamps on this page, with Terask Stamp and Scuzzy Stamp taking the honours as r99s. However as none are retired or speciality stamps this page should be able to be completed fairly easily. You only need lots and lots of neopoints to spend!

On March 23, four new stamps appeared in the news. They have a games theme and seem to be destined to complete the long neglected "Other" page. Then four Defenders of Neopia themed stamp arrived and now we have a couple of travel stamps. Truly a hodge podge page!

Four coins have been released recently to complete this section. Most of these coins are readily available, apart from the Scowling Sloth Coin which is very hard to find. Smiling Space Faerie has no COIN after the name.

Pretty, aren't they? Only three shells to go. It is hard to say what will be easiest or most expensive to collect. The Golden Shell seems very scarce even though it is an r98. The latest stamps out are taking their time to settle down in price, but be patient.

These stamps have been out for a while now, so are mostly settled into their normal price ranges. King Kelpbeard is probably going to be the hardest to obtain, although Captain Scarblade seems determined to give him a run for his money. (Errr, translation, Captain Scarblade and King Kelpbeard are going to be the most difficult to collect?).

In the midst of the Altador mini-Plot Frenzy, TNT released a new stamp page starring Altador Stuff. Excellent! I hope there is room for the Foreman Bob, err, Janitor Bob. He is really trying to control his anger and maybe a bit of recognition will help him. The Altador Colosseum Stamp was a prize from the Altador Cup. That stamp will only go up in price, so get it while it's hot.

I have '# stamps but it doesn't show on my personal table as a game played, is there a minimum?
Why do the stamp prices change so much?
I want to take my stamps back out of the album and sell them.
How come I am not on the high score table?
How do I buy a stamp that is selling for more than 100k?
How do I buy a stamp that is selling for more than 800k?

Information about the Trading Post As you get more and more stamps in your album, you will eventually start to get into buying the higher priced stamps. Most of the these have to be bought on the Trading Post. The trading post can be quite complicated at times. When I have a stamp to trade, I try very hard to keep my neo-goals in mind and if someone offers me something that might be worth the item I am trading but I don't know, I ALWAYS refuse it. Some people try to rush you into things. Don't let it happen, take your time and be sure that the item they are offering is something you want. If it doesn't help you to your neo-goals, it is worth less to you than the item you are offering (even if it may possibly sell for more on the Post), so DON'T TRADE. Abbreviations used on the Trading Post Will accept pure and ETS. This means the person will take neopoints (pure) for the item or Easy To Sell items such as paintbrushes, some neggs, codestones, faeries. They are not interested in that Quiggle Plushie Tooth Brush that is supposedly worth 150k because that is only worth 150k to someone crazy who collects quiggle items. No HTS. This means the person does not want Hard To Sell items, such as a Quiggle Plushie Tooth Brush (if there was such a thing). 10k=auto This means the person will AUTOmatically accept 10k (10,000nps) in pure neopoints for the item. Usually you can negiotiate a little cheaper in pure for the item, or items to the same value in ETS. Lower than TP. This person will trade the item for a little lower than the current Trading Post price. So search the TP for the item, find the cheapest, then offer this person slightly less than that. |
The Joys of Stamp Collecting. An Article by Trickenze. Why do you collect stamps? I stared at the screen. The people I was talking to on the Neoboards had been having a discussion about the things they did in Neopia to fill in time. Neohomes were cited as a big draw, the boards themselves were popular. Games of various varieties were probably the thing most people mentioned. I knew from having been a member of Neopets for a couple of years that many people loved getting creative with HTML and making user lookups and pet pages, while others enjoy the beauty contest, the caption contest, Lenny Conundrum or World Challenges. There is even the opportunity to rival Wall Street and give the Stock Exchange a go. There are shops and galleries and Trading Cards, Neoquest and Neoquest II, books to read to your pet and gourmet foods to feed them. There are so many things to do that even after two years, I have not tried them all. So why do I collect stamps? I wondered. Obviously I am a prime type for collecting something. I am about as creative as a dead stick and I have the hand-eye coordination of a comatose slug. HTML for pet pages and user lookups? Sure, that is fun. But once you have done them and have them the way you want them, what else is there to do? You can only log in and admire your own pages so many times before you get bored. The Stock Exchange? Well, once you have bought your limit for the day, that's kind of it. So, there you have it. Trickenzie's the name and collecting's the game. But what to collect? Obviously if you are going to have a collection, you have to collection of something. In Neopia we have many choices – Neocards, TCG cards, gourmet foods, books, Elephante items, Battledome items for Usuls, things that are purple, things that go boom, whatever. Stamps appealed to me because they are an "official" collection – unlike purple items, TNT decides what is classified a stamp and provides a place to put it when you have collected it. This means I have a definitive list of stamps to collect. Lists!! The magic word. Nearly every serious collector likes lists. Lists of stamps they have, lists of stamps they don't have. Lists of stamps they will never be able to afford. Lists of stamps that go on the Neoquest page. Lists of stamps that go on the Neoquest page that they have. Lists of stamps that go on – okay, you get the idea. Collecting stamps gives you the opportunity to makes lots of lovely lists. Then there is the comparative buying. After you have your lists, you sort through them and work out which stamp is next. Say you decide to buy a Snowager Stamp. You can check out several refreshings of the Shop Wizard, writing down the prices and decide who to buy from. You can even check out their user lookups and decide if you really want to buy from that person (more lists, see?) You can check if there are any in trades, or in the auctions. If you are really conscientious you can draw the whole thing out for two days before you finally manage to bring yourself to part with your hard earned neopoints. If you enjoy that, wait until you get into the unbuyables. Going through the trading post searching for stamps is such fun and there is a thrill to buying a stamp over 100,000nps that is only surpassed by buying one over 800,000nps. Getting to the point of buying stamps worth a million is a buzz comparable to bettering your high score at your highest scoring game. Woohoo! Ahem. Alright. Moving right along... When you have really got into stamp collecting and collected a few stamps, you can start wondering when you are going to make it on to the High Score board. As each month starts you can sit at your keyboard, putting new stamps into the album to see if you can have your name displayed to the whole of Neopia as a Serious Stamp Collector, even for just a few minutes. When you finally stay on the table for a full day you can casually drop into a conversation with friends, "when I was on the high score table for Stamp Collecting, I noticed the person ahead of me had such a cool neo-name. Of course, collecting stamps is not just about getting hold of the stamps and filling up your album. Oh no. There is all the information that you can learn about each world from its page in the album. Check out any page of the stamp album. Go through each stamp and see if you know who the subject is and if you know what they did. Plains Aisha? (Stamp 6 on the Neoquest page.) Our Neoquest Hero (stamp 2) fought so many of those he is an expert on them. The Snow Faerie? (Stamp 21, Snowy Valley page.) No visit to Snowy Valley is complete without attempting a quest for her. Each and every stamp in the album can teach you more about Neopia. Rohane (Neoquest II) and his companions are all to be found and the characters they needed to overcome to complete their quest. The Meridell and Darigan War is documented just enough to make you interested to find out what actually happened. The Stamp Album can lead you to dip into the Neopedia time and again to find out who the characters are and why they deserve a stamp to commemorate their exploits. Why does Mr Irgo rate two stamps – and one of them Golden? What did Pomanna do? You can be an expert on Neopia in no time. Stamp Collecting is more than an armchair sport. Stamp collecting allows me to indulge my obsession for lists, it fulfills my need for shopping, it provides an interesting and informative look at Neopia and is quite obviously the most fascinating thing one can find to do in the whole world. So I stare at the screen a moment longer. "Why do you collect stamps?" I set my hands to the keyboard and type my answer. Oh, it's just something to do. Hey, where do you think Cyodrake's Gaze will turn up next?
