Welcome to the Endless Summer...The salty air hits you in refreshing sprays as you walk closer to the ocean. It's the perfect day- warm sunshine, sand between your toes, cool blue water. The air smells sweet, like pineapples and coconut. You find the source of the aromas- A small tiki stand that is selling ice cold tropical drinks. You find yourself all the sudden thirsty, and decide to buy one. The sweet, cold juice is just the thing to add to the wonderful day. ![]() You return to your towel on the sand, completely satisfied. The sun is starting to set, casting fiery colors across the cool blue sky. As you look around, you see various neopians lighting tiki torches and bonfires. You turn sharply and look up into the palm trees, as strings of
As you decide to stay, the sweet sound of a an ukulele drifts on the warm breeze.
You finally move through the crowd to the center, where a zafara sat, playing happily on the ukulele. Other people were talking to him, and joking with him as he played. They all obviously knew him well too. You were now ready to leave, being the outcast and all. However, as you turn and try to squeeze back out of the crowd a voice stops you. Hey, where you goin'? You look back over your shoulder, to see who was talking to you. You feel as if everyone is staring at you, even though everyone is carrying on their own conversations, paying no attention to you. Yeah, you! It was the zafara. He had stopped playing and got up and started to walk over to you. The crowd was now dispersing, walking off to dance and hangout. Before you could say anything the zafara came up, put his hand on your shoulder, and his other he offered to you for a handshake. As you shake his hand, he says He lets out a small laugh. Heh, Kids man. They are real cute. He turns back to you. So, where you from? Oh, sorry, I'm Teyemba, but most people just call me Tey. He smiles, as you nervously say Heh, is it that obvious that I'm a tourist? I'm guest... guest? That's cool. I can dig it. You ever been here before? You look at the sand for a moment. Nope. This is my first time here! Taken a bit by shock from the back-slap, you aren't sure whether to follow this overly-friendly stranger. However, you have nothing better to do, and so follow him. Besides, you know there is no better way to see the island than from the view of someone who lives there! The Intro...So, I guess I'll start by telling you a little about myself.
Strange Origins...Australia huh? That explains the accent. As your feet kick through the sand, Tey says Yea, that's where I grew up. He smiles and brushes his salty hair back. Heh, Virtu-pets transport. You look at him, as if he had just read your mind. Everybody always wonders how I got here in Neopia. How did you come by that? I mean, you don't really just decide to go through Virtu-pets. Tey sighed. Oh, it definitely wasn't my choice. Noticing that you were still interested in hearing the whole story, Tey motioned to a fallen palm tree. You might want to sit down, it's kind of a long story. As you sat, Tey struck up a bonfire, and stood behind it. It was all very dramatic, as the fire cast Tey's shadow onto a large rock that served as the backdrop for this performance. The setup attracted the attention of some of the other people on the beach, who came over and joined you on the fallen palm. The small aisha from earlier sat right next to you, clapping his hands. 'Oh boy, Tey is gonna tell us a story!' More kids came running over and piled up around you. A story? A little blumaroo sitting on the sand looked up at you. 'Yeah, Tey tells the best stories!' Relaxing, you feel that you're in for a real treat.
They threw me into their spaceship, and locked me in a cage. I didn't know where I was going, and I was scared. The little aisha pipes upYou were scared, Mr. Teyemba?!' Tey smiled. Like the biggest scaredy kadoatie ever! The kids laughed, and Tey went on. I fell asleep on the way, but when we stopped, they took me out of the cage and tied my hands. We were in this big, metal looking place. It smelled weird, like those big grundos. I saw other grundos too, but they weren't big and scarey. They rushed around, twisting knobs on computers and pushing buttons. Then, this really tall, REALLY ugly guy came out! Tey stretched his arms high over his head, and made an ugly face. The kids laughed, until he said It was... DR. SLOTH! Tey again made the monstrous motions, and stood over the fire, which cast a creepy shadow on him. The kids shrieked and huddled closer together. He looked at me, and I stuck my tongue out at him. He grinned, and showed his yellow teeth. EWWW!' yelled the kids. So he bent down to my face and said, ' Hm, this is a good specimen. A few zaps from the ray should knock him down a few notches.' I remember that is breath was really gross. So then they took me to another room, and tied me to a table. I couldn't get out; the straps were too strong. The little aisha got up to speak but Tey answered for him. Yeah, even for me! So This big ray gun came out of the ceiling and pointed at me! The kids all gasped, and you jumped as the little blumaroo grabbed your leg, as if it would protect him. Then it fired at me, and it hurt! I felt myself changing. I suddenly felt stronger! Then it was over and I heard a voice in a speaker say 'he has gained two strength points!' and then clapping. The aisha spoke up again. 'What was happening Mr. Teyemba?!' Well, the evil Dr. Sloth was developing a ray gun to change neopets into monsters to work for him! Then the blumaroo who was attached to your leg asked, 'Why aren't you a monster?' The ray gun didn't work how Dr. Sloth wanted it to. It didn't always make neopets into monsters. Usually it turned them into other neopets! Now a lot of people use Sloth's 'defective' ray gun, but they call it 'The Labray'. OOOOOOOHHHHH', all the kids relax. 'So then what happened?' asked the aisha. Well, I went through years of being zapped by Dr. Sloth. I was one of his experiments. I've been turned shadow, gold and even disco! But it was never what Sloth wanted to happen. So I turned island one day. That was really cool and I didn't want to change. So, I escaped! How?!' pondered the aisha. Well, it's a secret... Oh please Mr. Teyemba? Please?!' the crowd of kids started pleading. Oh, alright... says Tey, smiling. 'YAAAAAY!' So one night, during Sloth Appreciation Day, I knew that most of the guards would be off 'appreciating' Sloth. There was only one guard working on my cell block, so I knew I had to do go tonight, or I'd never get out. When I heard the guard coming down the block, I fell over and started moaning and flailing, like I was dying. Tey whipped his arms around, seizure-like. Of course, he stopped at my cell and unlocked it to come in and see what was going on. These guards aren't really smart, so it's not hard to trick them. When he kneeled down and lifted up my torso half, he asked 'Whuz wrong wich yoo?' I slowly reached my arm around and grabbed for his blaster gun. 'I'm... I'm...' I said weakly. 'I'm... gettin' outta here!' I said as I put the blaster to his head. He let me go, and put his hands up. I took the bed sheet and wrapped it around his mouth where he couldn't yell for help. Then I took his keys and locked him in my cell. WHOOOOO!' all the kids started cheering. 'You sure showed him Tey!'As I went running out, I felt bad for all the other neopets locked up, so I let them all out. That felt good, to help them! So I quietly made my way out to the shuttle bay. One of the grundos that I let out knew how to drive a shuttle, so we grabbed one and took off. I asked him where we were going. He said 'paradise'. That sounded good to me, so I sat back and enjoyed the ride. As we were coming up on Neopia, we heard a warning over the radio talking about us. They were out looking for us. I started to get worried, when the grundo said, 'Relax man. They won't find us here.' Where exactly is here? I asked. 'Mystery Island, only the most peaceful place on Neopia.' Island? So they have beaches? 'Some of the best' he said. The crowd nodded in agreement. So when we landed, we were welcomed by these beautiful kougras in hula skirts. They handed us flowered necklaces and pineapple juice. I couldn't believe how friendly everybody was here! So I ended up making a few friends... okay, a LOT of friends! The crowd started cheering. I moved into a home with my closest friends and their 'landlord'. She's more like a caretaker though. Anyway, now I come here and hang out with all you cool people! The end! As Tey took a bow, the crowd clapped and cheered. The blumaroo lets go of you leg and looks up at you. 'Told ya he was good at tellin' stories!' As the crowd dispersed once again, Tey extinguished the bonfire, and walked over to you. Wow, that was a really... interesting story. Did all that really happen? Yeah. And it doesn't bother you? Tey sighed. Well, it did. It bothered me really bad. But then I realized that I couldn't waste my entire life worrying about the past. And it really helped to kind of make fun of it, and tell it like a story. You smiled at him. That's a good philosophy. You both start walking down the beach. The moon is bright, and sparkles on the water like diamonds. So, you don't miss Australia? Tey smiled. Nah, not really. I don't remember it much. Besides, Earth is really far away. Not even sure if it's in the same galaxy as us! You don't miss your family? I never knew them. And the family I have here is better than I could ever want! I'm just really happy with my life. You both smiled and continued walking.
We call it aloha...You notice that it's starting to get really late. Well, I think it's about time for me to go back to my hotel. I'm getting pretty sleepy and- Tey runs in front of you. A stuffy hotel? Nah, that's no way to stay on the island! Here, you've got to come stay at my house. It's here on the beach. And Mollie just re-did the guest room! You started to walk away, a little embarassed. Oh, thanks, but I couldn't... As you were trying to come up with an excuse, Tey says Aw, c'mon! It'll be fun, and you can meet my family! Oh, Nosii makes the best pineapple waffles! You start to once again decline the invite when you look at Tey, giving you puppy-dog eyes. Please? Fine. you say, shrugging. Tey smiles, and grabs your arm, and takes off running, practically dragging you along. Oh this is going to be great! You come up on a large hut, well, big for a hut anyway. It is made of wood with a raffia roof, and is exactly what you would imagine a tiki hut to look like. Tey opens the door, and yells Hey guys, I'm home! We've got a guest staying over! You are very nervous as you hear the sound of running coming closer. Then all at once, a large jetsam jumps from the hallway right into your face. Startled, you go to back up, but the door is shut. Tey slaps the shark on the shoulder. Hey man, no need to scare 'em! This is guest The jetsam grins, showing all of his sharp teeth. Sorry guest, just trying to have a little fun. I'm Siomina, but you can call me Sio!' he thrusts his hand to you to shake. You slowly shake his hand, in fear. 'Oh, don't be afraid, I'm an alright guy!' he says as he pulls you in a gives you a big hug. Tey pats Sio's shoulder. Alright, that's good. Sio smiles, and lets you go. He runs off, back through the hallway. Sio is alright, he's just a little... well, he like to hug.Tey smiles at you. Hey, make yourself at home! He motions to the couch, for you to sit. You go over, and sit onto the couch, which is very soft. As you are sinking down, Tey comes over and flops next to you. So... you try to think of something to say, to make the situation less awkward. As you are coming up with something, you see photos of other neopets sitting on the table next to you. Uh... who are these people? Tey looks over to the photos. Oh, that's my family. They're pretty crazy... Do tell! you say, as talking makes you feel more comfortable.
Early rising...Well, I'm getting sleepy... you say and look at Tey. Okay, I'll show you the guest room. He gets up and walks back through the hall as you follow. At the end is the guest room. Tey turns the light on to reveal a purple room. Well, here it is. The bathroom is down the hall, right there. If you need anything, my room is over there. Good night! Tey smiles, then walks off to his room. You go into the guest room. The bed is made of bamboo, and the air smells like surf wax. Nice... You say to yourself as you lay down to sleep and wonder what the morning will bring.
You stand up, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes. What time is it? Tey grinned. About 6 am. Told ya she got up early. You smiled, and walked out to the kitchen. Sitting at the table was the buzz, the ruki, the jetsam and Tey. The ruki stood up, and shook your hand. 'Ay dere, I'm Ozifi!' you smiled. I'm guest. Taking a seat next to Teyemba, Agnosy shoved a plate at you. 'Here, try these!' You ate the waffles, which had chunks of pineapple in them, and they were amazing! After breakfast, Tey wanted to show you his room.
The Book of Awesome...You notice a blue binder sitting on the nightstand next to Tey's bed titled "The Book of Awesome". What's that? Tey turns, and then grabs the binder. Oh, this is the BOOK OF AWESOME!! He yells, and then flops on the bed. I gathered that much... Tey smiles, and opens it, to reveal a drawing of himself! Sometimes people draw me, so I keep all my gifts in here. Those people are awesome, hence the title. Tey shoves the binder at you. Here, take a look!((This is fanart of tey, therefore not drawn by me!)) ![]() By cassthehmew ![]() By savebuppy Little Dudes...As you look through his room, you notice a shelf on the wall containing a bunch of miniature zafaras. As you examine it closer, you realize that they all look like Tey. Oh, those? he says as her turns to see your puzzled face. He grins and picks one up, rubbing some dust off with his thumb. Some really talented people make me these cool little dudes. He puts it back on the shelf. Every now and then, I'll get another one. Pretty soon, I'm going to need a bigger shelf!
