Welcome to Tatzelwyrm's Trail, traveler guest!

*You jump at the sudden sound of a hissing voice*
I'm sorry, I did not intend to startle you...
*says a grinning Hissi that materializes from thin air*
My name is Tatzelwyrm, but in short I'm called Tatz. This place features parts about myself and a small trail tour of The Lost City of Geraptiku. Come look around if you wish and watch yourself... This place can be dangerous.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Past Life
As you may have noticed, I am not a Ghost Hissi but was able to materialize like one.
*He grins at you mischievously*
That is because I once was one. How I a came to be like this is another story.
Before being a Ghost, I did have a Past Life before I came to the After Life like all ghosts. I do not remember much anymore about my past life since it has been so long ago... but I'll tell you what I remember.. But I cannot say all I know, I have enchantments upon me that forbid me to tell certain things...
I lived in the City Geraptiku in my past life before it became "lost" and deserted. I was one of the Keepers of the now called Deserted Tomb, who helped maintain the traps that kept unwanted theives out...
--What's the Tomb made for you ask? I cannot say exactly... It was used for the sacred ceremonies of the Geraptikans... that's all I can say. Secrecy enchantments... sorry. May I continue?
*He continues when you nod*
...Many of the Keepers were Hissies like myself since we could crawl through the secret tunnels throughout the Tomb quite easily compared to other Neopets. These tunnels were used by Keepers for traveling throughout the Tomb without triggering the defensive traps. The Sentinals also used these tunnels for the same reason...
--What are Sentinals? I can tell you some of that... They were Hissies also, but are bound by the magic garments they wear to guard the treasure for as long as they exist... even beyond to the After Life. Yes, those are the ghost-like Hissies that chase explorers out of the Tomb...
--How did I continue to the After Life without a Sentinal's garments? Hmmm, that's difficult to remember... I think a faulty trap got the better of me....
*He shrugs, then looks distracted. He doesn't continue about his Past Life.*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My After Life

When I crossed over to the After Life, I remember hearing enchantments that bound me to the vacinity of the Tomb... I was relieved at first, since I couldn't control where I was going... I felt like I was tumbling all over the place. But as I got used to the After Life and learned to control my direction, I began to feel trapped by the unseen boundaries of the enchantments placed on me. With nothing else to do, I continued maintaining the Tomb's traps like I always have... But doing this was different in the After Life than when I was living. When I was alive I could leave the Tomb to do other things other than my Keeper duties. Unable to measure the passing time I do not know how long I stayed so bored.
*He hisses and shudders*
My boredom was passed by watching unknowing explorers flee from the Tomb's traps and Sentinals.. and from my own little pranks.
*Grins*

But then no one came for a long time... No one to play tricks on... The Sentinals did not count; they just ignored me. And there were no other Keepers around... I seemed to be the only one that crossed over to the After Life. All I could do was wait... and wait... and wait.

I went into a state of sleep... I placed myself into a Vase in one of the Tomb's rooms.... Then I was awakened. The Vase I was in was being moved somehow and I heard foot steps. There was a light seen from the top of the Vase; which I found odd. I haven't seen that much light since... I was alive and able to leave the dark Tomb. I had to wait to adjust to the unaccostomed amount of light. When I did come out I was in an unfamiliar place... It looked like a bedroom in a castle. (I later found out that I was in NDR's castle.) I must have been able to be moved out of the Tomb since my binding enchantments deteriorated while in my dormant state... Then I saw someone reading a book on a chair beside a wind*w. It was a human girl... I remembered hearing that they were commonly frightened by snakes.
*Grins*
Invisible, I floated towards her ear... and hissed. I never seen someone jump so fast!
*Hissing laugh*
(Tiamat: *glares*)

I then made myself visible as she looked about for the source of the noise... She then saw me. To my disappointment, she didn't become more frightened, but relaxed instead. She then said, "I was wondering when you would come out." I was almost as surprised as she was when I hissed in her ear...

So I came to know Tiamat... She explained to me that she found the Geraptiku Vase I was in on July 26th when exploring the now "Deserted" Tomb. It was DNAger that noticed me in the vase and when he told Tiamat, she decided to offer me a new home, seeing that my old one was mysteriously deserted...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Reincarnation
I missed being alive. Being able to eat, smell, and touch things is something the living takes for granted. I had my spectral ablities for a long time and I would miss them, but I missed living more.
Rakhisis helped me gain a new form since she herself has materialized a body when she came from the void. It's hard to explain how it happened... it was sort of like meditation, focusing the will. I remember my body getting heavier, gaining physical substance. First thing I felt: hunger. I was so hungry...
*groans at memory* x.x;*
I shouldn't have been so surprised... I didn't eat since I died.
All seemed to work perfectly... except I still seemed to have my old spectral ablities, despite intentions of being rid of them. Rakhisis says I was a ghost for too long... it's part of what defines me. I was relieved. It's not very often that one can get the best of both worlds.
*grins*
Now I can still bother Pheniox without getting hurt. Heh heh...
*thinks for a moment*
Rats! But now she can hold my food hostage...
...I think I'll have to curb some pranks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My Re-Naming

My name of my Past Life has been forgotten, so Tiamat re-named me.
According to a book Tiamat has read, a tatzelworm is a mythical creature that is half snake and half feline. Since Hissies are obviously part snake of sorts, I was named Tatzelwyrm. My name is spelled as "wyrm" not "worm" because the "wyrm" spelling is associated with dragons, which Tiamat adores. My name also alliterates with Tiamat's name (the T's) and the number 175 was added since I needed a number and it matched with Tiamat's username.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Personality
When I meet new people I try to make friends, or at least not become enemies... But people tend to not understand my sense of humor so I often frighten a lot of people away before we get to know each other more. I like to appear out of no where... I think it's funny seeing the looks on people's faces.
*He makes a hissing laugh*
Many Neopians are frightened of me and my kind because we're like snakes. I'm not fluffy and warm-blooded, but that doesn't mean Hissies are cruel and uncompanionable... or at least not all of them. Heh..
(Tiamat: Don't worry, he's past that stage... He's just a little mischievious now.)
I really like to find new areas especially if they turn out to be good places to hide and startle people. NDR's castle has plenty of corners and corridors to hide in...
*Chuckles
But besides haunting NDR's castle I dwell in the jungles of Neopia, exploring the land sometimes with DNAger. When I'm not doing that I love making up my own stories to tell my companions. Especially when they are based on, ahem, honestly true stories of my past adventures.
(Tiamat: He's such a kidder sometimes. :P)
*makes a fake exaggerated hiss*
I am not kidding.. I had lots of adventures in my Past Life...
*shifty eyes*
I also act as a guardian of valuables, although some people may see it as hoarding possessions that are not mine...Heh. But I do give them back if the owner needs it..
I hear there are rumours that I'm now quite full of myself now that I have a handsome head of feathers... whoever says this is lying. Who cannot love these feathers?! Everybody does... I would be lowly self-esteemed if I did not too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My Introduction to My Family

Tiamat
She is my keeper and she helps me make my petpage the way it is now. I feel much obliged to her for giving me a new home and training me, so I choose to be what some may say as "unusually obedient." I also respect her acceptance of my sense of humour, as I respect her limits of her patience when I go too far at times. Heh.
In her family, I act as a guardian of her possessions, which I do so with honour and with the same extreme care that I used to give the Tomb when I was a Keeper.

DNAger
He is what Neopians call a "Lab Rat" and changes almost everyday, sometimes even his original gender of male changes. I would laugh if he wasn't so seriously stoic. My pranks are generally ineffective, but when they do, I usually end up hiding. o.o; He's scary when mad... So that's why I've decided to stay on his good side on the most part. I sometimes explore with him and help look for things in places his solid body can't go through for his field studies he creates. But that's only when he feels tolerant of company.

Pheniox
She is my favorite prank victim. :K Hehehe... Her lovely short temper makes her easy to get a reaction from and her inability to effectively attack me effectively infuriates her and amuses me more. Plus, her pride keeps her from asking Tiamat to intervene, so I can pester her for a long time if I'm lucky. But now I'll have to make sure I eat first so Pheniox can't steal my food in revenge...

Rakhisis
Unexpected from a creature of Chaos, she is as placid as DNAger is stoic... another difficult sell in terms of pranks. But she still is sometimes fun to be with, since she does have a sense of humor that can appreciate the brilliance of my pranks and finds them amusing too. But she never helps me, since she doesn't like upsetting others. Being familiar with ancient cultures, she often comes with me to expore tombs of the Lost Desert and other such ruins.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's my Petpet
This is Xolcotl, my Quetzal. I named him with a combination of the Aztec names of Xolotl and Xocotl. We met shortly after I revisited my old home. He was recently repainted from Green to match my red feathers. It suits him fine, since it matches his feiry stellar god namesake: Xocotl.
I feel like I've known him before... I remember a vague memory of something guiding me into limbo when I died... Hence the other half of his namesake: Xolotl, a god who guided the dead to the afterlife.
Well done my companion, you won us a PPL Award on June 29th, 2006. By being with me for 314 days, 3 hours at the time of being chosen your rank is 90 among many others of your kind.
A trail Tour of the Lost City of Geraptiku
Why just Geraptiku? Why not the whole of Mystery Island? Well, Geraptiku was my old home so this gives me an opportunity to visit there and the City was newly discovered on July 13th so I decided to share what knowledge I can to Neopians. If you follow me, I'll guide you through my Trail.
*He turns around and starts to slither through the nearby jungle foliage*
On the northern shores of Mystery Island lay the ruins of the Lost City of Geraptiku. Recently discovered by some very curious Neopian archeologists, Geraptiku is an interesting place to explore... if you're brave enough to venture inside.
To go explore Geraptiku yourself, go here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Deserted Tomb

Here I will show you some the depths of the Tomb since I am unable to tell of or show all of the Tomb's secrets... some enchantments on me are still strong enough to prevent me from revealing everything.
To explore the Tomb yourself, go here. You can go in once a day.

Deep within the ruins of Geraptiku lies a tomb that has been deserted for eons. No one knows for sure what lurks inside, but rumours have spread across Mystery Island. Most warn of the creatures said to inhabit the ruins. They say that if you value your life, it's best you stay away.

But others tell of a massive treasure left under the protection of the tomb's many traps. If you can get past these traps, Neopoints by the ton and artifacts like you've never seen are said to be scattered throughout the tomb. So far though, those who have entered to seek such a treasure have yet to return.

What about you? You've been standing at the door of this tomb for a while now. Are you brave enough to open it? Go on. It's just a door, right? There may be riches beyond your wildest dreams waiting for you inside... if risking your life is worth finding out.

If you continue...

The door, being made of stone and all, begins to slide open slowly. Very slowly. You could be here all day...

It finally comes to a stop about halfway up. Figures. It is a very, very old door after all.

You gaze into the darkness beyond the opening and can barely make out a path leading inside. It quickly disappears, giving you no clue as to what may be in store for you if you enter. Without you realizing, your knees begin to shake and your hands begin to tremble. Riches may be waiting for you just beyond this door, but you have a very, very bad feeling about this place.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following are recordings of what can happen in the Tomb... that I can reveal so far...
*Shifty eyes*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You slowly make your way through the opening and into the awaiting darkness. The door slams shut behind you. How unexpected.

---

It's been two days. You don't quite know how, but you've managed to elude many of the traps mysteriously strewn around this tomb. Maybe it's a good thing you're so clumsy.

You happen upon a flight of stairs that leads down into the darkness. It seems to go on forever, but you finally reach the very bottom and enter the dimly lit room you find there.

FIDDLESTICKS!

You yell out in disappointment. This room is the treasure chamber you've been looking for but you discover that someone has gotten to the treasure before you. You could devote the rest of your life to finding this person and writing them a stern letter, but you have to get out of here first.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You slowly make your way through the opening and into the awaiting darkness. The door slams shut behind you. How unexpected.
---
After being lost in the tomb for two days (living off fungus and rain water of course), you stumble across a room you haven't seen before. Could this be the location of the treasure?
*RAWR* ME HUNGRY!
That's definitely no treasure. A giant monster leaps out from the darkness and begins chasing you, all the while thinking about the best way to cook you for dinner. You should probably continue running.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You slowly make your way through the opening and into the awaiting darkness. The door slams shut behind you. How unexpected.

---
You've never seen so many traps in your life. Seriously. Someone must really not want you to be here. You wonder how many traps there really are, and who put them here.

OH NO!
And, while you were thinking that and not paying attention, you set off another one. You watch as the arrows fly right at you, but luckily Tatzelwyrm175 was paying attention and pushes you out of the way just in time.

But while you're safe, Tatzelwyrm175 suffers a bit of damage and loses some HP.

Pft, people know nothing about traps... *glares at Tiamat*

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You slowly make your way through the opening and into the awaiting darkness. The door slams shut behind you. How unexpected.
---
You've been here for quite a while now. You don't know how many days exactly, but you know you've passed that same carving at least 14 times. Exhausted, you decide to take a break and sit down for a while.
EEP!
What in the world was that? You look down to discover you'd planted yourself right on top of a Petpet. Poor thing. You wonder how it got here.
Wait a tick! What's that
under the Petpet? You shoo the little critter away and open the small box that almost escaped your notice.
*
It's no massive treasure, but it's better than nothing. With all you've been through, you decide it's best to quit while you're ahead and you quickly make for an exit.
*Note: The item received by this event varies.
---
The tomb presents you with quite a challenge over the next few days. Luckily, you've brought plenty of provisions and have cleverly made your way through every trap you've come across. Your mum would be proud.
Finally, after decyphering all the secrets of the tomb, you're led to the treasure chamber.
EUREKA!
You've found it. You've found the treasure of the Lost City of Geraptiku. People you've met once will now be writing to you asking to borrow Neopoints. It's every Neopian's dream.
You search through the treasure and take back what you can carry.
*
You also stuff 1,195* Neopoints in your pockets!
Geraptiku Avatar
If you manage to find treasure you may get this Lost avatar. In other words, it is random when you find treasure, so it is not a mistake if you don't get it even though you found the treasure.
(Tiamat: Yaaaaaay... a cousin of the snowager avatar. -_-;;
But at least I finally got it on August 29th, 2007!)
Heh heh... Good luck.
Hide and Seek?
Oh, so you think this is a good place to play "hide and seek" with your pet? It is actually quite hard to play that game here... It's easy to get lost but hard to be found. Go ahead and play if you really wish, but I warn you not to get lost... that won't help your pet at all.
Discovered on: November 1st 2005
*grins and chuckles*
(Tiamat: Don't worry, it's just Kacheek Seek, you have no risk of actually getting lost yourself or losing your pet)
*hisses and mutters under breath* Rats, almost had you fooled... Heh.
But here's a second opinion from a fellow ghost if you don't believe me.
Something has happened!
The Ghost Lupe growlsIts rumoured that Neopets that go to Mystery Island never return!!
(Tiamat: Stop it Tatz... -.-;; )
The Lost Gallery of Geraptiku
The following is a link to a gallery of Geraptiku theme that caught my eye. Go here to see it:
Centuries ago, Geraptiku was a prosperous city where neopets lived, for the most part, happily among their peers; gathering often for parties, hunting excursions, and campfire sing-a-longs. And then... it happened. No one is exactly sure what happened, but whatever it was left the once-thriving city in utter chaos. Today, all that remains of the Lost City is deserted huts, stone tombs, and bones... hundreds of bones. To try and show Neopia what an amazing city Geraptiku must have been, archeologists from all over have scoured the ruins for interesting items, and those items are displayed in this gallery. It contains all of the items found to this date, plus some items that, although not actually found in Geraptiku, are believed to be similar to those that Geraptikuans possesed. So have a look around, and be careful not to step too close to the Geraptiku Fly Trap...
Neopian Times featuring Geraptiku
There are a few articles I found in the Neopian Times that mention Geraptiku to various extents. Read if you wish.
The Deserted Tomb: Not So Deserted Anymore?
...Bleh, there's too much to list here to do it myself... articles and stories alike about Geraptiku are constantly increasing in amount. To find some articles yourself, type "geraptiku" in the "Search the Neopian Times" box then click go. Go knock yourself out, but don't get lost looking... :P
(Tiamat: You're being lazy, you just don't want to find more trails in the tour. -.-; )
*He hisses*
I am not! Who's the one that does the coding of this petpage? I don't exactly have my own fingers to do that... -_-
(Tiamat: Yeah, but what am I supposed to make the code of? I need to know what new trials you found first... it's you're part to do that. -.o)
*grumbles*
Touche! ^^;; Heh...
Geraptiku NeoAdventures
Want to try exploring the Lost City of Geraptiku by yourself? Try the Adventure of Geraptiku and good luck... without me, you'll need it.
...that's what you'll be exploring: Geraptiku. Yes, the Lost City that's not lost anymore. Perhaps it's called that because almost all Neopians that go there are lost forever... but you won't be. Hopefully. So you've got your pack with food for a week. You've got sturdy hiking boots, jungle gear, and your trusty spear. Hopefully you won't need to use it... but you never know. Sadly, you forgot the bug spray. That could be a problem.
Want to know what it was like to try to find the Lost City of Geraptiku? Then go try the NeoAdventure, The Search for Geraptiku.
Through the ages, many people have fought hard and long to find the city of Geraptiku. All have failed, and now you will take on the Search. What this? What is the Search? It's... The Search for Geraptiku!!
My adventure is rather long and wordy, but that's what you play and adventure for. Right right? Remember, have fun, and watch out for pitfalls, there's rather a few of them.
Looking for treasure? Then try searching for The Treasures of Geraptiku. Don't let your greed overcome your better judgement though.
You take another step into the jungle, carefully lifting your feet from the grip of the flora. More vines hang down from above as you step underneath the low hanging limbs. Behind you, your guide tugs on your shirt, obviously trying to get your attention....
