Concept sketches of Zia and related characters:



(Crappy) Sketch of the group under attack... xD
(early stages, meaning that these are the characters as they appear early on in the comic)
Maru with her shield, Zia just kind of there, Obscura breathing fire, Ulysses being Ulysses, and finally a horribly drawn Montreal..uh.. floating..there... xD;;
I like Ulysses's face.



The Adventrue Squad in a city known as Vallis. The creatures at the top are called The Gerra; they inhabit Vallis.
I wonder why Ulysses is on the ground? D8 OH NO. Maru is as cool as a cucumber, and Zia is freaking out (and running towards them).



An annoyed Zia and really sad Zia. I wonder what's making her make those faces..?

My very first sketches of Zia. Working out her design... Her design finalized pretty fast, which I'm happy about. (it only took about 2-3 weeks.)
Usually my characters take much longer (-cough- Maru -cough- 4 years -cough-).

Ulysses; He's like a dumb hairy ape. His gun never has any bullets in it. P:
The scorpion like monster is named Montreal. Information about him cannot be disclosed... yet. :'D




Maru (ignore Killyha, they just happen to be on the same page). Maru is a solar powered android lovely personality.
Is she good or bad...? It all depends on point of view.

Inspiration is a vital part of character development for me.
My characters don't just come out of the blue; They're carefully planned and constructed.
Zia's Character design and story were influenced/inspired by the following:





First we have a girl named Ariadne, from one of my favorite comics of all time: Ares! 8D
Ariadne and Zia are actually quite similar. They're both noble born, sheltered girls yearning for adventure. I really like Ariadne's character, which is strange because I usually don't like those types of "cute little innocent girl" characters. I wanted Zia to have that same kind of feel. An innocent child, but intelligent and strong enough to avoid being a damsel-in-distress ALL the time (or at least oblivious to their distress. xD)

Zia is also inspired by the character Gohue from Ares. Gohue is a guy who was inspired by a painting that he felt had a "soul." (it was a painting of a battlefield.) Anyway, he joined some mercenaries despite his inability to fight so that he could become a great artist. He's extremely loyal. Gohue's a character a really relate to, so of course he inspired Zia's wannabe-artistic side.

Now one of the less subtle influences:



Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. Zia is very much like Scarlett O'Hara, a strong southern belle, just not nearly as obnoxious. Instead of being obsessed over a man, Zia's obsessed wither her camera. Other than that, they're practically the same.





Zia's home, Nedezeret Rech, is also based off of southern plantations, swamps, New Orleans and Creole culture, and the Amazon.



and of course, her quad appearance was based off of these, as well as wolf and cat anatomy. P:

And then...



Zia's Personality and her physical appearance were inspired by Milliarde (Milly) From Baten Kaitos II. Again, Milly is one of those "sheltered girl" characters, but she's incredibly strong-willed and powerful. Zia's not nearly as violent, but they share many of the same attributes.



And Zia shares her obnoxious camera obsession and enthusiasm with Collin Creevy from Harry Potter. |D ( Lol at that creepy picture )

I'm not hiding anything! I didn't do anything wrong! I swear I had nothing to do with the cake dilem- Oh? Youíre not here about that?

You need someplace to stay? I'd kindly let you use my cabin, but The Captain gets mad at me for being nice to stowaways... I'm sorry!





I designed and built the firewall alllll by myself. It took forever. But I'm kind of dead, you could say, so I got forever. XD Anywho, I'm not exactly an engineer, it's just a hobby. c: OH BUT, don't tell the crew that, they'll get mad at me! ^^;

The Firewall's REAL name is Sally. 8| The capn' refused to name her that, though. But she'll always be my beloved Sally. +A+



She's pretty unique, she's a cargo/fighter hybrid deal designed to crash with minimal damage. :B -awesome-

How does she fly without wings? You know, that's a really good question, I just have physics-defying abilities! 8'D How the heck should I know where the lift comes from?


I also design one called the "Antivirus", but that plan never "took off" you could say. |D ROFLOL.
