Taoko: I'm afraid I'm not a terribly entertaining person. I apologize if you were expecting something more impressive, guest, but this is really all I have to offer for the time being.

Halen: Why is that, anyway? Even a borin' stinker like you should have at least some backstory, shouldn't you?

Taoko: It's none of your business either way, Halen. Come to think of it, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be doing chores?

Halen: Hey, whaddya mean it isn't any of my business? We live under the same roof, right? What's the matter with wantin' to get to know my roomates better? I'm here outta innocent curiousity, that's all!

Taoko: (Changing the subject, I see...) You're a horrible liar... But I guess it wouldn't hurt to play along. Still, you're not going to learn anything more than last time. I don't remember anything more about my past than what I told you before.

guest: What do you mean by that?

Taoko: I'm an amnesiac; I've lost my memory.

Halen: He still remembers how to talk, though, unluckily for the rest of us. And how to walk, and eat, and read, and... huh. Really, all that's missing are his memories about what life was like before movin' in with us. I wonder why that is?

Oridro: It's not like he just up and one day forgot, Halen! His memory was purposefully erased! Isn't that right, Tao?

Taoko: Well, supposedly.

guest: Supposedly? I'm confused.

Taoko: My apologies. I should have explained things to you earlier. You see, even though I can't remember anything, when I was found, I had a message attached to my wrist describing the details of my... erm... memory-erasing encounter, I guess you could call it.

guest: Oh, really? I've never heard of anything like that before.

Taoko: Nor have I, which is why I'm not entirely sure of whether or not to believe it. The note more or less said I used to work in the laboratory housing the Lab Ray as a medical assistant. For whatever reason, I decided to resign, and evidently my employers weren't too pleased with my decision to do so. The... note becomes rather vague from this point.

guest: Vague?

Oridro: No, he's right. 'Vague' is a good word for it. I've read it too. It's a little hard to grasp, especially with the lack of detail, but...

Taoko: It says I was fed a pill to block out my memories of everything I knew about it. As far as I know, no such thing exists, but... Well, we don't really have any other explanation.

Halen: So, why can'tcha just accept that your memory's gone, and start over?

Taoko: But what if it does come back? I don't know anything about who I used to be. That note could be a complete fabrication, or even a nasty prank. The choice between the life I had before and the life I have now is easier if I just distance myself for now, until I know more.

Oridro: Oh, Tao...

Taoko: Anyway, that's all I can tell you. Hopefully that will have cleared up any questions you'd been wanting to ask.

guest: Ouch. That much be really hard for you. Good luck with that! I hope everything works out alright.
