My Story

Syukhi was born into a very kind family with her mother, father, older brother and sister. Together the five of them lived in a small village between the border of Lost Desert and Haunted Woods. Because of the rather harsh lands that surrounded the strangely lush village most never left and even fewer came. There where not any large trees since the land was not good enough to support such large plants. Thanks to the village being quite hidden away it was never threatened by anyone from the outside. Syukhi never knew much of hate or violence and was always smiling and laughing. With a very kind and caring heart she always seemed to be able to calm down the angry and cheer up the sad.

Syukhi was born with a strange but very good ability, her voice. No matter who it was anyone who heard her voice was calmed no matter how in rage they where. If she sung she could put anyone to sleep very quickly. If someone was hurt and in pain and she said something to cheer them up, they would smile and their mind would move away from their pain. Everyone in her village new of her ability and saw it as a great gift towards the whole village. No one looked down on her or even seemed to be jealous, since once they heard her voice or just saw her kind and loving smile, they couldn't be mad.

Her mother had always taught her many things, the main one was to always use her powers for good and never hard anyone. Syukhi agreed and promised her mother she would never harm others with her gift. Syukhi often asked where this ability came from and her mother explained that her family sometimes was given gifts, and Syukhi was one of the lucky ones. "Do you have a give mother?" Syukhi would ask but she would just laugh and tell her, "Maybe, But if I do those powers might never show. Most only come out when you want to protect someone deer to you." She explained. For years Syukhi would always continue ask her mother...but she never did say what her ability was, or could be.

As time went on and more pets began to travel to different lands their tiny village was discovered, but they opened the village with open arms to the travelers. With the new pets coming in it gave the village a way to link to the outside and everything was very good for a while. But there was something on the outside, that when they opened their arms to it they didn't know they where getting, violence.

Not to long after the travelers began to come they learned of the hate and mistrust many had with each other. How those who where different where seen as a danger. Of course they pointed their fingers at the now 15 year old Syukhi. They didn't see her powers as a gift; they saw it as a way of trickery, deceit, and control. If she could change the way they feel just by talking, they what else could she do in time? They feared that as she grew she would be able to gain more control with her voice, and that someday if she told someone something, anything, they would do it. If she said to harm someone they person would do it and have no control, that was their greatest fear.

The people of the village though did not believe those ideas in the least and all of them protected Syukhi. Those travelers sent word to their homes about a terrible witch that could control others with just her voice. Since they themselves did not know anything of Syukhi they believed this all to be true and more went to the village, aiming to get rid of the 'witch'.

When they came the villagers still tried to protect Syukhi but anyone who got in her way ended up being killed. Syukhi witnessed seeing her whole family killed in front of her except for her mother who took her, running from their village and into the Woods. They ran until their feet bled and still continued until they both where unable to move, their feet covered in blood and their chests burning in pain. Quite quickly they both blacked out from exoustion.

When Syukhi woke she was chained and caged, her mouth clamped shut and unable to speak. There where many angry faces staring down at her, and their look alone seemed to take away all of her spirit and leave her with just fear. They moved a little to reveal her mother. Who was also chained but also hanging by her wrists and covered in blood her face showing complete pain. "Anyone who helps a witch, dies with a witch" A voice said before a lupe walked forward towards Syukhi's mother. Syukhi struggled and tried to plead to stop, she didn't want all of this to happen, if she had to die to save her mothers life she willingly would, knowing the rest of her family and the villagers died for her. *Please don't hurt her!!!!* She screamed in her mind, unable to get the words out. The lupe froze, seeming to be in shock as he turned looking towards Syukhi and walking towards her cave looking at her right in the eyes "Witch, how did you speak when your mouth is closed?!" He yelled.

Syukhi was scared her body shaking, she had no idea what he was talking about. The Lupe's rage grew as he opened the cage, grabbing her by the throat "ANSWER ME WITCH!" He screamed at her. *I…I don't know what you are talking about…* She again said in her mind as the Lupe threw her hard at a tree. "Yes you do! I heard you again! We will kill you, and the one who brought you into this world." He yelled turning to look towards Syukhi's mother and bringing out a gun, and taking a single shot towards her. The bullet hit her in the center of her forehead and her body went limp.

Syukhi looked at her mother in shock and disbelief; no…she couldn't be dead! The Lupe turned looking back at her and bringing up the gun pointing right at her. "Now you will die to witch" He said preparing to shoot as the others around watched silently. *No…NO!* She screamed in her mind as suddenly the lupe dropped the gun and fell to his knees, curling up in pain, his paws on his head. *MOTHER NO! PLEASE YOU CAN'T BE GONE!* Syukhi screamed more and more fighting to get free from her chains, and with her struggling she was slowly getting free. A few of the others moved forward trying to stop her fighting but as they touched her they all fell over in pain holding their head in pain. The others all quickly backed up away from Syukhi in fear from the reaction of those in pain. As Syukhi got one arm free she quickly took off the clamp around her mouth "MOTHER PLEASE WAKE UP!" She screamed her voice shrill and very high pitched. All of the others around which fell over in pain their body's shaking from something. Syukhi's normally calming and helping voice had taken on a deadly change as the Lupe was on the ground, unmoving and dead.

Syukhi looked around in fear at those who where in pain, her crying making everyone else shouting out for their pain to stop, one even saying his head felt like it was going to explode. She looked towards the Lupe, seeing he was dead and her fear rose. Looking at her dead mother she wanted to go to her but her fear took over she she stood and ran off away from them and into the woods.

Syukhi wandered aimlessly for quite a long time. She had no idea where she was going, having grown up being taught not to go into the woods since there was unknown dangers in there. As she continued, soon enough she found herself at a run down cabin. The temperature by now was dropping quickly and desperate she walked over to the door knocking on it. There was a minute silence before the door opened a crack and an eye looked through the crack towards Syukhi "Who are you? What do you want?" A cold, raspy male voice said. Syukhi looked nervously "P...Please.." She said in a quiet and sad tone "Please...can I take shelter in your home for the night?" She asked her body shivering badly. The eye looked at her, from her tear stained face down to her bloodly and muddy feet. "...Fine..." The voice said and the door closed. There where a few unlocking sounds from behind the door before it again opened and let Syukhi in.

As she went in she looked around nervously. The cabin was old, dusty and smelled of mold. The one who let her in looked at her again. It was an old redish grey color, its dull green eyes looking right at her face. He walked around to behind Syukhi and again relocked the door. She took a few steps forward nervously, her tail tightly curled around her "T...Thank...you..." She said quietly her voice no more then a whisper. "N...No..." The Kougra said turning to face Syukhi a cold smirk going onto his face "Thank *you* girl" He said taking a few slow steps towards Syukhi. She looked at him scared, also backing up "W...What...do you...meen...?" She whimpered as her back hit the wall of the small cabin. "I noticed it...as soon as I heared you..your voice" The Kougra said as he quickly grabed ahold of Syukhi's throat with his large, and strangly strong paw. Syukhi tryed to cry out or do something but all she got was a faint and weak yelp as she tryed to make the Kougra let go. "Magic based on the voice. Thats something I havn't seen before. Very interesting...and dangerous" He said looking at Syukhi with a chuckle right as she blacked out.

It wasn't until quite later that Syukhi woke up. When she did she was once again chained up, hanging with her hands above her, back to a cold stone wall, and feet chained down towards the ground. The kougra appered from the shadows as Syukhi woke chuckling. "Wh...where am I?!" She asked her voice shaking badly as she looked around and tryed to fight her way lose. The Kougra just laughed "In my home still, the celler atleast. Can't have a place like this room out in the open..." He said lighting a few candles and bringing light to the room. Syukhi looked around in fear, there where strange circles all across the room, and she turned a little, noticing a blood red circle written on the wall behind her. Her whole body was unside the strange circle as Syukhi paniced more. "Let me go!" She cryed out and the Kougra laughed "Sorry girl, but your powers won't work on me." He said walking forward and she tryed to move away in fear. He brought up one of his long claws right towards Syukhi's throat as she froze. It was already covered in blood and with that blood she quickly formed a different circle on Syukhi's throat. As he finished the circle it began to glow and reacting to that the circle Syukhi was inside also began to glow as she began to feel pain shoot through her body and began to scream in pain. The Kougra took a few steps back muttering something as the glow's color changed from a blood red to a black and Syukhi's scream became more painful but it was also fading. The Kougra watched smirking, her powers...would be his now! "M...Mother help me!" Syukhi screamed out before her voice completly faded away and she blacked out. The glow then suddenly changed colors to a light purple as it sent out a large blast of energy sending the Kougra flying back and hitting the opposite wall and blacking out. The glow around Syukhi flickered, as did Syukhi's body then she suddenly dissapered from her bonds leaving the Kougra in its cabin alone.

This time when Syukhi woke up she felt the wind blowing through her fur. Slowly coming to she sat up looking around confused. She was on the outside of the Haunted Woods, on a path that lead to Neopia Central. She had no idea how she got there and the more she tryed to figure it out the more the only conclustion she got brought a smile to her face. I figured out what your gift was Mother! She tryed to call out, but was suprised to not hear her voice as she spoke. She brought a paw to her throat, her voice...was gone. She bit her lip as tears started to fill her eyes, she had...lost her gift. In took her quite a while before she finally stood and started to slowly walked towards the city she saw ahead of her.

She wandered around the city for quite a while, completly lost and having no idea where to go. She was lucky enough to meet a blue Xweetok who helped her and showed her around. Syukhi struggled though to get around and even more to get her point across to Mike, the blue Xweetok who she had become friends with. It was completly by accident when she bumped into Mike once *Oh...I'm sorry* She had said in her mind and Mike looked at her in shock. "Did you...just talk?" He asked. Syukhi pulled away from him and looked at him confused. Mike looked at her, not hearing a voice this time "But I heared a voice! It was you right?" He asked putting a paw on Syukhi's sholder *I...Don't know what you are talking about* She though and Mike reacted again hearing her, but this time noticed that her mouth hadn't moved. He backed up scared his face showing fear "This is a joke! That doesn't make sence! How come you just talked?!" He asked turning and running off. Syukhi was just frozen confused, not understanding.

It took her a while to learn that when she was in contact with others, she was able to talk to them through her mind. This caused her to be overjoyed that she hadn't lost her gift completly. Her mind voice still had the same effect as her true voice which she had lost. Wanting to be able to learn how to try and possibly learn how to talk with out the need for contact, which can be a little hard to do sometimes, she began to travel. To this day she continues searching for someone who can help teach her, and possibly even get her true voice back.
