PrologueFlowers in the desert. Have you ever seen them? Of course not. They invariably die, burned by the killing sun. Except one. Rare night orchid which feeds from moonlight, this plant grows in ever-shaded places, under the protection of oasises. Its petals are said to heal any wound, and its nectar to quench any thirst. But these are legends. The desert people have never been able to explain its true nature. For the desert orchid truly is a fae.

ShapeshiftingI also have the ability to change forms, from a gorgeous humanoid to a xwee. Unfortunately, I do not fully control this ability yet -- it just happens. What triggers it? you might wonder. Well, other people's sight. You see, in order to preserve the desert orchid's secret, no one must ever see me in my true form. Thus, when a non-faerie being looks at me, I turn into a xwee. Now, I understand why the Elders made it so, but it can be seriously troublesome sometimes...
