Hello Hazel, or whoever else you may be, and welcome to my application for Daenek, the very lovely faerie draik! This is the first application I have ever created, so I sincerely apologize if it's terrible. Also, please know that if I get to adopt Daenek,I will change her gender to better match the character I created. Also, Daenek will be referred to "Ike" because that will be his new nickname. Ok, all done, time for the application!

In real life, I'm a 15 year old high school freshman who lives in a small suburban town between two major cities in the not-so-glorious U.S. of A s. I have golden black hair that I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to dye blue, and brown eyes. In my down time, I like to skateboard and read. Random fact? I absolutely love Greek mythology! Music is my passion, and my absolute favorite genre is rock. But hey, I'm definitely open to hardcore screameo and indie as long it has purpose. I wear neon skinny jeans, go to awesome concerts, and wear loose fitting band T-shirts. I'm usually quiet, and don't say much. But as a result, I get along with mostly everyone. Someday, I hope to be a doctor or astronomer, but that's still a long way off. And I'm not really one for art and writing I only do it because it's fun I get paranoid when things aren't organized, and I always plan ahead. I love to draw,even though im not the best at art. Stories are really fun to write and imagine,as school has me writing "inside the box". What I really love about neopets is that the site gives me the chance to draw and write to my content, and no one is judgemental. Cons? Well, I can be a bit impulsive at times and I might write a Neopets story before a history report. I'm also not big on grammar, if I haven't accidently made that evident already. But hey, no one's perfect, right;)

I have been playing neopets for almost 8 years now, on and off. Though I have tried to leave, I could never really bring myself to do it. This site works as my largest creative outlet, and I would never ever leave because it is just too much fun drawing and writing and cutomizing my pets while meeting others who are passionate about what they do. My favorite things to do are to draw my pets, and lurk the pound chat. I have two primary goals on neopets. The first, to get all my dream pets, along with custom stories/pet pages/petpets. The second, to help as many others get their own dream pets along the way. The feeling of granting someone's dream is so awesome ; sometimes I think that's what keeps me grounded to this site. My ultimate dream pets on neo are a baby kougra, a chocolate draik, and, of course, faerie draik. My only permanent pet as of right now is Swisical, and the rest were just lucky lab zaps that I plan on adopting out soon as I find the time. I only have one account, which is also my main account, and that account is lumiris, and it's never been frozen, warned, suspended, attacked by Dr. Sloth....etc. So yeah...ok time for the next section!

As with any thing you want so dearly, it is hard to explain why. I could go on and on for pages about how I love Draiks and conjure up a sob story about losing a draik, but none of that would help you understand my attachment to this Neopet. So, instead I'll say that Ike had a really special place in my heart because prior to writing this application, I never wrote a real story before. Ike inspired me to do things I never would have done before, and I adore the character I came up with for him. Even before I heard of neopets, dragons were my most favorite beings and I even created some clay dragons after reading "The Fire Eternal". After reading "His Dark Materials" I wondered why none of their daemons were mythical creatures, and decided mine would have been a dragon. I love mythical creatures and my family even says that I live in my fantasy worlds sometimes.

Daenek is also my ultimate dream pet. But with dream pet being such a relative term today, it carries little or no meaning. To me, a dream pet is not only a pet that you want because he/she looks cool, a dream pet is a pet so inspiring and beautiful, that you know immediately you will tediously save neopets for or write an application for while knowing you're doing it for a collection of pixels. A dream pet is a pet you would strive to obtain, no matter how long it takes or how much effort you have to give. A pet you know you will love and cherish forever and smile whenever you visit his/her lookup or see that pet grinning back from your account lookup. To know that you worked hard to get that pet and feel a sense of accomplishment when he/she stares back at you. Such a pet is different for everyone, and for me, that pet is Daenek. Lastly,I really do care about Ike......yes that's right, i care about a collection of pixels over the internet, because Ike is so much more to me than that.The nickname I gave him and the personality were inspired by a stray kitten I use to play with in India when I was little. The kitten was a tabby, starved to the point that I could see his bones. But he always had bright spirit, and was very playful. He wasn't like most cats because he didn't take advantage of the attention he received; he just moved on. I never saw the kitten on my return to India and assumed he starved to death. Granted, I never owned the cat; but to me he symbolized the aspirations of the needy and the cruel harshness of our world. That kitten opened my eyes to the stark reality of the world. But he also symbolizes that bad things can change. Ike would be a lasting reminder of that poor kitten, and I couldn't help but smile, even when I see him now, because I like to think the kitten became a happy faerie in some distant place.

You will find more about Ike's character in his future petpage, but this is just a short section briefly describing him. Ike grew up as a prince, and the sole heir to his father's kindgom. He is poetic and creative, and not violent like most of the other young draiks his age. But he never had the chance to really think for himself, and his mother turned him into a skillful soilder. His father is kind and understanding, standing in stark contrast to his mother, who is cold and calculating and is head of Brightvile's army. His story about how he finds himself and understands that peace is superior to war and runs away from the land where he grew up after the death of his father. He rejects what he was born to do (fight) and creates an alternate peaceful lifestyle in the forest. You have no idea how many times I have been asked that. I guess its because I base my designs more of of the color than how neopets portrays the color. For example,if they say faerie and show me a blue draik, and say white and show me a white draik, I would say my character more closely resembles the faerie draik because my character is based more off a magical and whimsical aspect. See,I like to think of my characters as three dimensional creatures, not just pictures. So, if Ike is a small white magic draik, I think he is a "faerie" so to speak. By the same way, my "baby" kougra is young; because thats what I feel my baby kougra should look like. All pets are unique, and all faerie draiks should not look the same.
So...I don't write the best stories, have the best art, or express myself well at all. Why, then, should I get the honor of adopting this lovely pet? All I can say is that I really care about Daenek. Yes, laugh if you will, but I really do care about a pet on a virtual website with all my heart. To me, he's not just a collection of pixels, he's the noble dragon Daenek, as real as any storybook character and want him to be well looked after.

Another thing is that I would say Im a pretty honest person. I don't pretend I'm a great artist or that I have a gazillion neopoints waiting in the bank, in truth, I'm just a normal kid trying to get a pet I want. It was actually hard for me to save up enough to buy a white paintbrush and my lab map, but hard work got me there in no time. I'll admit, I'm not very good at games nor do I have the time to play enough to save money for a draik, and the adoption process is probably the only way I'll ever come close to getting one.

Rightto, so here's the part where I tell you what I plan to do if I get the opportunity to adopt Ike. But honestly, I don't know myself.Of course he will get his own pet page detailing his story and design, probably similar to this application in terms of the layout. But what way will his story turn and what twists will it take? This we have yet to find out. I really just write as I go along, until my imagination seems to fill the empty space. But I do know I will always love Ike. Oh yea, and I also have some spiffy new customization plans for him:) However,I strongly believe that doing shows more than telling,so I will try to show you as much of my plans as I can.

A new friend.... Trill the hegelob is eagerly waiting to join Ike

Trill(Ike's future petpet) was inspired by his story and is to be his ever so faithful companion and best friend. Trill will always be at Ike's side and will the main character Ike interacts with in his story.

Customization... I think this sums it up quite nicely! Ike's customization was also inspired by his story. On his lookup, he will be shown in a rose garden writing poetry to portray his tranquil nature. The face paint also gives his look more dimension, as it shows he is more than just a pretty face with a sappy story.

I would also like to enter Ike in the beauty contest, as I really love to draw dragons. His specific character seems to carry just the right amount of individuality and elegance. I have never tried to enter the beauty contest before, as I only draw pets that i really know. With Swisical, i am still figuring out who his character is, and still have a long way to go before I can draw him well enough to show his personality. I feel as though Ike is a pet with a story to tell, and entering him in the beauty contest would be the perfect oppurtunity to show others his personality.

Neohome project
Im actually starting a new project thats sceduled to kick off next month. In this project, I will transform the shabby little house I own in shenkuu into a beautiful villa. The neo home will actually be an extension of my pets' stories, as their individual rooms will reflect their personalities. As a member of my neo family, Ike would be entitled to his own part of the neo house.

And finally.....books! Yep, you heard me. In order to fit the character of the pet,and just in general because Ike looks intelligent, I would like to read him tons of books.I have been saving for quite some time, and will continue to save in order to win Ike a neopian book award. This will be an ongoing project I will be happy to start if I am lucky enough to adopt Ike.

My pets might not be much, but for what's its worth I would not trade them away for a million higher value pets. What is value really? I think pets that grow in the mind of the owner are really the pets worth keeping. I don't want Ike because of a passing phase that I will grow out of, I want him because I know I will cherish him forever. If I can adopt Ike, I promise to forever provide him with a safe, fun, and permanent home for as long as I'm still able bodied enough to sit at my computer.

I'll be the first to admit this probably was not the best thing you have ever read, and I'm definitely not the only worthy applicant. My time was limited, as I was leaving for vacation before the deadline, and I had to finish early. But I do hope this application gave you a sense of who I am and what Ike means to me; not just a collection of pixels but a magestic, fire breathing dragon. I truly hope Ike will go to someone who loves him and takes great care of him, even if I don't get the privilege to adopt. At this time, I would like to thank Hazel, for giving me the chance to apply. Through this process, I have met dedicated and talented people, had the chance to do something I believe in, and if possible, become more attached to Ike.
