Auction Bidding Since you can't offer anything over 800,000 on the trading post, you might want someone to put their item in Auction. You can neomail the person with your offer. If accepted, the seller puts the item up for auction starting at half the price, then putting the other half as increments. For example: If you agreed on 7.4 million nps, the person starts at 3.7 million, with 3.7 million increments. This equals 7.4. That way no one else will want to outbid you because the next bid would be 11.1 million. I also do NF only just in case they mess up. lol |
|

minimum increment It is how much more the person has to bid than the last person. If the bid is at 10,000 and the minimum increment value is 1,000 than they have to bid at least 11,000. |

Auction tips for making NP I make at least 100k a day in auctions . The way I do it is this. I look at the screen that says 1-20. I look at the item at the bottom of the page, I keep refreshing to see how many seconds it takes to get to the top of the page. This lets me count down and make a bid at the last second on items I want. When first starting to play keep another window open to learn the prices of items. It eventually comes natural, and then close the window out as I find it increases lag time. Also after you make a bid, refresh your screen to see if anyone has bid after you. |
|
stasiasilverstar 12:22PM 02/17/2005 |
Auction I scan the Auctions and try to make sure that they have AT LEAST 30 seconds (or more) left on the clock(start around the 61-80 listings, it should be at least that much time, generally) to do a little research on a potential item. If I see something I'm not sure is a good deal, then I have time to check it's current market value on the Wiz, Trades and or Auction Genie to get an idea of it's real worth. Most of the time the items are over-priced or at current market value, not enough room to make a profit. For those things that are very much under-priced. I go after them. Realize that you will lose more bids than you win, but you can win enough to make it worth while. I have to feel confident that the items I am chasing will still make me at least 2,000nps profit AFTER standing up to some furious bidding to make it worth me chasing. Also, remember that you can now over-bid the next "required" bid by 5,000nps instead of the 2,000nps it had previously been. Sometimes over-bidding 5,000nps is not enough to secure the item because other people have gotten their next bid in under you by 5,000nps already and now the next bid is actually higher than 5,000nps. For example: There's a Magical Golden Nerkmid at Auction for around 10k, you find they are sold at around 30k. A lot of other people know this as well, and you put your bid 4-5k higher than the next required bid, assuming that someone else will slip a lower bid in under yours and then this way you come out on top at around 14-15k and secure the item and have still made a very nice profit. Now, I've been trying to figure out a new way to still do well at the Auctions since the Time change problem and I have been doing very well lately, so try this: Open 1 window to the Auctions, start with around the 61-80 listings, then open another window to the Auctions. In the first Auction window, scan up from there thru the listings, as shown in the Auction Tip Update post below. Now this time, when you find something, immediately find it on the second window. Follow it in the second window as the time winds down on it, keep refreshing to the next batch of lower numbers. Back in the first window, you should be sitting there, ready to bid on the item. When it finally get to the 1-20 listings, when it gets about half way up, take a chance on a bid. It's a last second, all or nothing type of strategy. One shot, usually, win or not. The exact timing may have a bit to do with your online access(cable or dial-up, etc) and your computer processing speed. So test it out a few times till you get the hang of it! Good Luck! Your Humble Auction Goddess! lol ;) |

Snowballs I just tried something new! I bought a whole bunch of snowballs and sold them on the auction for more than i paid for them! Most newbies sell yellow, poison, and wet snowballs from 2 nps - about 15 nps each! Every snowball i bought was under 6 nps i sold them all on the auctions! Its a great neopoint making tip! Especially if you are low on neopoints b/c the snowballs are so cheap! |

Auction Tip Update Hey gang, as I'm sure a lot of you know, I LIVE at the Auctions and was none too happy about the changes made to it. One of which is that the Auctions seemingly stopped paging up to 320, now it stops at the most recent 100. Well, I have since been clued in by another Auctions friend, that you can still get up to the old number of 320 most recent auctions. All you have to do is move the number "80" out of the address at the top of your screen and put in the next increment of "20's" So, for example, the last page shows the auctions numbered 81-100, and in your address screen it says 80 as the number. Change that to 100 and it will then show you auctions numbered 101 thru 120. And so on, til you get to 320(number in address would be 300)Hope that helps you as much as it does me! |

Tips For Auctions -Only Bid the next price... I try to get the lowest price for things at Auction with this goal in mind "Buy Low, Sell High" This will make your profits bigger! -Know what you want to Bid/buy for what you want! With this know what you want your ideal or a good profit is...Bidding can get a bit fun when a 'war' starts but you don't want to over bid for something, you may win the Auction but you loss nps. As Kenny Rogers said "Know when to hold them, Know went to walk away, know when to run!" -Auction when you have time.. I like to have a least an hour, to research, scoop the auctions and to get the money I'll need from the bank. You also want to watch you bids carefully to see who is over bidding, so you can stay away from them. -Know you hook up.. For example I have a laptop with two hookups: wireless at school and dial up at home... when I'm wireless I'm a lot faster an will bet my dial. up any day of the week! Hope this can help you |

Tarla Gift Giveaway This is a tip if you are lucky enough to grab one of those great gifts from Tarla (you can get one if you see the "alert" button flashing yellow in the Neopets toolbar, but you have to be quick – I think you have about five minutes from the time it starts to flash). Don't price the item for sale in your shop right away, using the lowest price on the Wizard as a guide. Tarla gives out the same variety of gifts each day (I think) so when she first comes on, a lot of people will get the same item you have just received. So, the price goes down – supply and demand don't you know. Gradually the price will rise as people buy up the cheaper ones (you can be one of those people, if you want to stock up). As the day goes on, the price will rise and you can add the item(s) to your shop. Be warned, however, that there are several of these giveaways each day so the next time, the price will be down again temporarily. Selling at the higher price just takes patience. If I stock up on the cheaper items, I usually place the extras in my SDB. When the first item sells, I can see from the sales history what the market is bearing at that time. I can just use that sale price and avoid spending a lot of time searching the Wizard for the lowest price. On the other hand, you may suspect (or hope) that the low price has risen even further, and you will search the Wizard again. If you have even more patience, you can wait several days, weeks or months to see how much the price has risen. This would hold true for the one-day giveaways such as the better Christmas gifts from the Advent Calendar or the items you can sometimes win in the various plots and contests TNT puts up. Another warning – this tip usually works but not always - sometimes the price will fall and stay down – it's all a gamble in the long run. If you have received your Tarla gift early in the day, the next times you see the alert flash yellow, go back to the Wizard to see if you can pick up any cheap versions of your gift that you can stockpile. |

Re-stocking Your Shop About 5-10 minutes or so after a neopian shop re-stock if you search the wiz for things that were in the shop then you can usually find them cheaper because some people want to get rid of them fast! Likewise, be careful when using the wiz to price your items that you just bought in a neopian shop, wait for awhile first! This usually works best in the bookshop. |

The weaker your pet, the more you get Then put him back in the pound. This also helps your own pets. If someone gets into your account, and you've already discarded a pet, they can't discard yours because you can only discard one pet a day. Gives you time to get your account back. |

Tippy tippy :) For those people who don't have a great connection but can restock now or then, or even for the greedy fast connectors (Just joking) The pharmacy is now a real golden egg laying chicken. The cure for the disease given by the Wheel of Excitement skyrockets in price making it a nice investment. Don't try thinking why people would buy them, I don't know either but when you considerably under price the item you can sell it really quick. I think this tip may be efficient even when the disease changes because most of the cures at the pharmacy are REALLY common items. So unless a rare disease is chosen the pharmacy is a nice place to start |

Retired Items Value
I have a gallery going for retired items, and I have some theories about how likely they are to go up in price. Most items take a long time to go up in price
after they are retired, especially the common ones. Items that are permanent (gifts and unbreakable toys and permanent battle items, for instance) will go up
the slowest. The only things that will cause them to be rarer are more people playing overall on neopets and/or people abandoning or loosing accounts that
contain these items. Non-permanent items like food, books and limited use weapons are likely to go up a bit faster because they get used up in addition to
the above factors. On the other hand, onion rings are not a gourmet food so I suspect that once they start rising in price people won't bother feeding them
to their pets. In this way, books are a better investment. No matter what common items will rise slowly, so unless you are willing to wait a year or two, you
aren't likely to see a huge profit... |

Re: Making 100,000 Neopoints
The main idea is to buy items BELOW current market value as dictated by the Shop Wizard. Then sell your item at current market value, and 1-5nps LOWER than
the lowest person selling the same item as you for a quick turnover. You can find under-priced items everywhere! The Neopian stocked shops (though not all of
them are under-priced), people's shops, people who mis-mark or go but the Neopets estimated values, the Trades and (my personal favorite, Auction Goddess,
remember! lol) the AUCTIONS!
I have made MILLIONS there, and I still do everything on our Homepage daily(that isn't game playing related) I rarely play games at all. |

NeoPoints Why should you focus on Neopoints? A lot of peeps write me wanting to know if I'll give them stuff, or trade them for stuff they really need - basically begging for help. Focus on becoming a NEOMILLIONAIRE. Trust me: when you have a million NeoPoints and more, all of that begging stuff goes away. You can buy just about anything you want, whenever you want it. You don't care if it costs a few hundred more in the Wizard - you need it, so you just go buy it. Life at NeoMillionaire is REALLY good! Restocking tips Battle, Lose, Repeat some of my tips are to: go to every shop in neopia using the address bar...not many people do this so all the unpopulated shops have something good..., find a group of around 15 shops and just going to them back and forth, forward and reverse using the address bar in order to move fast, and final press f5 and the space bar to see what is on the page really quickly Restocks are random now. They no longer go in order of the shops. They also no longer stock at the :00, they stock at any time. You also have to click the little image of a pet before you can buy any item. Help!! What items to RS? It depends on how many NPs you have to buy inventory with and how big your shop is (ie. you might not wanna RS dubloons if you only have 3000 NPs and you might not wanna RS omelettes if your shop is only size 1). For a good idea of things to restock, go to the Kitchen Quest on Mystery Island, the Employment Agency in Faerieland, Edna's Tower in the Haunted Woods and the Snow Faerie Quests on the top of Terror Mountain. Even if you don't want to to the quest, you can see what kind of things they want - and these items are worthy of RS. In addition, track what items are needed for your faerie quests and check the news and the boards for items related to secret avatars which are usually in demand. |

Haggling Just a quick caution to you hagglers. I've noticed that many shopkeepers seem to have less tolerance for haggling these days (Neopets may have changed the AI for haggling). It's now a LOT harder to get items for 50-60% of the asking price. I've been kicked out of several shops all over Neopia. To avoid a kick, start haggling from 15%-40% of the asking price and make sure you offer halfway between your last offer and the shopkeeper's offer EVERY OTHER time you haggle. Also watch what the shopkeeper says - you can usually tell when they're angry. |

Neopian Shops I have another useful way of making neopoints. I don't know if u already know it. Couldn't find it on the site tho. You should watch the news closely and when they bring out new bakery cakes or cookies/toys/etc. Try to buy them at the Neopian shops the same day or really soon. Go to the shop --no_html_comments- Refresh until the shop restocks --no_html_comments- There is always a very rare item --no_html_comments- buy it! And when u get some of the new ones, they will bring in lots of neopoints. You should try. Takes some patience and some quick reflects and connection . Good Luck |

I did most of the 150,000NP in 3-4 days. (I am up to 170,000 now)I started buying books and selling them. The more I bought, the more I got an idea of what
they were worth. I have a shop with room for 50 items and I just keep buying and selling. Start out by buying the cheapest books but buy as many as you can
possibly get your hands on. Then check the shop wizard to see what they are worth and list them for sale in your shop for a few dollars less. You will be
surprised how fast you earn money. You often luck onto books that cost you 300NP and they will sell for 2,000NP. Sell a few of those an hour and it really
builds up fast. I also make sure I go to the garage sale on terror mountain. You can get some really good stuff there for next to nothing. I have spent most
of the past 3-4 days gathering and selling rather than playing, but I figure if I do that for a few weeks then I will have loads of points to play with. The
3 best place to gather itens to sell are the bookshop, the faerie bookshop and the garage sale. Don't waste your time on junk, keep just what you need to
feed pets and donate all else, it just takes up valuable space. |

My Shop--Some Things I've Noticed Two things I've noticed today as I've been stocking up my shop with codestones. First, even when your price is the lowest on your Shop Wizard screen, it seems that items sell much slower when you have a lot of them. For example, if I'm not having tons of luck finding codestones and manage to stock one or two, they disappear quickly. If I have 13 of the same stone in stock, they sit there for ages. I imagine that when others who are looking to resell items at a profit come across a shop with a bunch of the same item, the price seems like less of a deal. The other thing that I've noticed, which sort of goes hand-in-hand with the first, is that I tend to have much better luck selling my stock when I have a wide variety of items. When I check my shop history, I often see the same person buying two or three things. So, maybe they were looking for a Main Codestone on the wiz, then, once they were in my shop, they ended up buying an Orn Codestone and an omelette too. Because of both of these things, I'm trying to vary what I sell in my shop. (It's worked pretty well so far...I've made about 20k selling codestones today.) |

Re: Shop Wizard Listings Understanding the Shop Wizard: (The following explains a bit more about what I said about YOUR SHOP WIZARD PAGE under "Guides" on our web page.) When you look at a Shop Wizard Page, you aren't looking at everybody's shop. I may have a Pawkeet for sale at 80,000 NP and you might not see my name/price info when you search for "Pawkeet" on the Shop Wizard. What you're actually seeing is a group of shops selling a Pawkeet. Neopets has divided its users into groups based on the first letter of their user ID and there are 13 different groups (there used to be 8, these are the updated groups).
1) a,n,0 Using my example of the Pawkeet, I scan the shop wizard and find the following results (my observations are in parentheses):
i_love_fantasy360 Pawkeet 1 99,999 NP
If I keep searching, I get: Doing a quick count, I made 9 searches and got 8 different results. There are still 5 groups of shops I haven't seen. If I was serious about buying a Pawkeet, I might keep checking until I got all the results. Note that page #7 hasn't shown up which is where items in my shop (thebigshop) would appear. If you don't keep checking, you'd miss the Pawkeet I have for sale at 80,000 NP. For most items I'll only check for five different results, but if I'm planning on spending over 10,000 NPs on an item, I usually check until I have 11 or more results. The more NPs at stake, the more I want to be sure of getting a good price!
Two last points: Before you go after a buyable unbuyable, consider if there are other cheaper ways of getting it (the Pawkeet for example can be bought on Krawk Island). Try to remember items that are obviously worth a LOT more than 99,999 NP (ex. Baby Paint Brush, H4000 Helmet, etc) and use the Trading Post and Auctions to get an idea of what people WANT for the item - this might not be the actual value, but it gives you somewhere to start. |

If ya don't see it..... I used to have a huge problem whenever I went to a person's shop because their background was black and I couldn't see their prices. Well I guess that I could have just clicked on every single item that I wanted to buy but I didn't want to sooo just highlight it all!!!!! When you figure out what you want to buy then just click somewhere else on the screen and click on the item you want to buy. Hope that this helps!!! |

Re: Should you expand your shop ? My shop is Size 25 and rarely ever filled, yet I have made over 50 million nps! If you price your items correctly,(1-5 nps BELOW the LOWEST of the same item after 5 or 6 refreshes) your items will move so fast that you don't need a really big shop! |

I have a small tip... This is a VERY small tip, but I thought I'd share it! This works for me! Did you know that every item in Neopia is sell-able? You did? Well then why do people discard things like sandals and dung? I made 250 neopoints today in my shop from sandals, dung, palm fans, bottles of sand, keyrings, and boats. Just put sandals, dung, palm fans, and blue, black and red bottles of sand in your shop for 1 neopoint. Mine sold in a minute! Sure, it's small. But when you want neopoints, everything counts, right? You can also put one small maybe 10 or 15 neopoint item in your trades, and say something like "Junk dump!" and people know what that is. Today someone gave me a usuki set worth 150 neopoints along with some sand and keyrings. It's a corny thing to do, but it does work! I got a lot of neo-cola too. Neopia just doesn't sell things unless they are worth over 300 neopoints! |

Re: How many times CAN you refresh a wiz ? It's a max of 300 refreshes in an hour. They break it up though. Sometimes you'll refresh some and they'll say come back in 20 minutes, or 10, etc. It averages 300 refreshes and hour though. I tested it thoroughly ! lol The bans end on the hour. If you get kicked out at 5 minutes after the hour, your ban is one hour. If you are banished at 20 after, you get a 40 minute ban. If you're banned at 10 to, you get banned for 10 minutes, etc. |

Pricing Items This is something that members need to do on the own. Determining the price of things. Allow me to offer you a little lesson. IF the item in question is UNDER 99,999nps, type the name of the item, identical. Other prices should now show up 99,999nps or lower. Take the one at the top, let's say it 37,700mps for this item. Now put in 37,699nps as you new max willing to pay and refresh again. Do this repeatedly until after 6 or 7 refreshes, nothing lower comes up, then set your price slightly lower, usually 5nps lower. You should now be the lowest priced of that item currently. You may need to recheck your prices to make sure that you are still the lowest. I'm online so much that I check SEVERAL times a day! You should re-check AT LEAST once a day, and re-price your items as needed to make yourself the lowest again.
This is the fastest way to move items under 99,999 nps, thru your shop!! |

Underpriced Items Buy codestones, faeries, Dubloons, Paint Brushes,Map Pieces, etc., Anything that people get as a random event. Newbies sometimes under price them on the Wiz. Just keep refreshing till you come up with one cheaper than the rest, then sell it for the going price. |

Re: Shop Wizard This is always a good idea. Another thing I like to do, is mix it up by simply typing "Paint Brush" Then doing a search will bring up a different paint brush each time. Also you could type Dubloon, Faerie, Codestone, Schorchstone (Not sure if that is spelt right) and so on. This is a really good tip for buying and selling in your shop. -Dale |

Shop Wizard Always search on a couple of your more favorite expensive items. Almost always, you'll find someone now and then selling something for far less than it is worth. I just bought a red scorchstone for 2,000np! It sells immediately at 48,000np!! That's a cool 46,000np profit instantly!! |

10,000 a day? I made about 24,000 today in about half an hour just buying and selling Har Codestones. Buying and Selling in shops is the clearly easiest way to being a NeoMillionaire - you just have to spend a lot of time on the Shop Wizard learning what items will move fast, what the best prices are, and catching people selling those items at prices way low. Codestones and Faeries are my favorites to make a ton of Neopoints in a short time frame. Of course, you need about 100,000 Neopoints to really make points with codestones and faeries. Until you get that much, you'll have to pick cheaper items to buy and sell. Just spend a lot of time on the Shop Wizard. |

When you are neoshoppin' When you go to a shop that has maybe a codestone or map piece for like 1,000np that you found on the wiz, after you buy that item check the rest of their store cuz they might have some other rare item like that for the same price or cheaper! One time I went to a shop that had a map piece for 2,250np and when I was done luckily I decided to see what else they had and there was an orn codestone for only 1,000np! I got both of them! |

Re: shops.. Never, EVER use Neopets "Est. Value" for pricing your shop items. ALWAYS use the Shop Wizard to see what others are selling the same item for. Do several searches with the Shop Wizard so you get a good look at other shops' prices for your item. Then, price it a little below the lowest price if you want it to move quickly. If you price it a little higher, it won't move as quickly, but you might get more np. Like "themoira" says, get to know what certain items will sell for and when you can buy them cheaper, go for it, then resell them at the going price. |

I think that it is harder to get things from there because they have items that are worth a little more then the money tree. And if anyone doesnt know what
the meridell rubbish dump is..its like the money tree but in meridell with different items and you cant donate.I say that you wait till they start gettin
items and then refresh and hit the first item you see.NOTE:i dont recommend the money tree or meridell rubbish dump if you have a very slow connection! |

I think everyone knows by now... I think you all know by now, but buying and selling scratchcards is a really good idea for making a bit of money. I buy one every time i get on line and every time I'm about to sign off. sometimes i get lucky and get really rare ones My advice to people out there that like to scratch your cards, go ahead, but remember, selling scratch cards is a lot safer then trying to rely on scratching them and winning | ||||||||||||||

Re: Icetravaganza Scratchcard
It's a hard call: scratch or sell. Here's the way I look at it: I can make a fortune in neopoints every day just following our Hints and Tips here in the
Guild. If I ever get a Scratchard for free, I scratch it: nothing lost, nothing gained. I didn't have it before, it didn't cost me anything, and if I lose, I
haven't gone backward at all. The possibility of winning OVER A MILLION NEOPOINTS!!! is ONLY possible in the Scratchcard, Black Pawkeet Slots, and Lottery. I
ALWAYS GO FOR IT!!! But remember: you may lose, so don't let that bother you if you do!! Just continue to ROCK ON!!!!!!

Finding buyable stocks easily To quickly find out which stocks are selling at 15 each day, you might want to use the Neopets Bargains link that lists what stocks are selling for 6-19 in order. It's very handy! Look under the heading "Cur" if it says 15 or more, those are the only ones you can buy. Click on the name of the stock, then click on the name on the next page. You can buy up to 1000 stocks a day. If it's at 15, that would be 15 x 1000 = 15,000 nps to buy. All stocks are random, so one will be as good as the next. http://www.neopets.com/stockmarket.phtml?type=list&bargain=true |

Re: today's 15np stocks... I've changed my strategy a tad on stocks. The first thing I do is buy 1000 shares at 15, never paying any more than 15. Then, I sell anything that is 18 or better. If none of my stocks are at 18 or better, I then see if any combination of sales will net me 3000np or more. For instance, if I had 3 stocks at 16, I'd sell them all for only 16 because I'd make 3000np. The reason I changed a bit is because I watched as stocks went up to 17 and down and up and down and up and down - never reaching 18! This way, I take advantage of all that up and down motion while other folks are waiting for the stock to go way high. In the long run, I think I make a lot more neopoints that way. |

stock Nigel charges 20np for every time you sell stock. So if you sell 1 stock he will charge you 20np.And if you sell 1 million stocks he will still only charge you 20 np.But you have to do it at one time.Like if you sold 500 stocks now he will charge you 20np and another 20np if you sell antoher 500 shares 5 minutes later. |

Trading Post For those of you trading an item, even though the trade will remain for two weeks, don't let it slip further and further down the list (especially if there are a lot of the same item you are trying to trade). Every so often, cancel the trade and then immediately create a new trade (you can copy and paste your old description into the new trade). That way your item remains close to the top where more people are apt to see it and you will be more likely to sell it. |

Trading Post You can only have a maximum of 10 lots You can offer, or Trade, up to 10 items in a Lot. Your Trade has to be listed for at least 15 minutes before you can cancel it. You can offer up to 800,000 nps in a Trade. You must also offer an item. If someone asks for "Pure Nps" it means they just want nps for their item. You still have to add a cheap item with the nps, or the Trade won't go through. You can click "Browse Lots/Newest 20" to see the newest items up for trade. You can also type in the name of the item you're looking for in the search box. For the current price, put the name of the item in the Search Box, make sure you have "identical to my phrase" and "newest" checked. For more help, check here. |
