a not so brief story
StormCry is a mighty Stallion who grew up in a heavily populated herd. While he was in his teenage years, after sucessfully defending the herd and gaining rank, his memory was brutally stolen, casting him into a life of shadows and confusion. He was found by a few herd members and two trusted humans, who countlessly attempted to bring his memory back. All attempts failed. The long weeks that fallowed were depressing, but he regained many of his forgotten friends, eventually growing to become head stallion, and master of Storms and Weather...Though he was never the same playfull stallion he once was. Deep in his heart he felt alone...seperated from the others. It was rare that one caught sight of him expressing emotion- if he ever did. Many others described him as a pure mystery...and some thought such qualities...well lets say it drew a lot of mares' attention.
After the herd travled from place to place, and leaders changed, he decided to return to the old meadow, once again becomming leader, though it wasn't long before his memory was stolen again. With Hope, Felicity, and Koahla's help, he found the spirits that stole it from him, banished them, and regained all that was lost. ((ok, for a more emotional story of his memory regain, go here: -blocked-/cricketthefaery/stormcrymemory.htm I saved the rp...I warn you, it made us cry...))
The months rolled on and for a while things were plesant. StormCry spent his days fascinated by a painted mare with uniquely colored eyes, and together they raised a handsome colt. Their son Takotah. That little bundle of joy brought out more emotion in his father than any other creature on this planet. It became a common thing to see a smile on StormCry's face. He was a proud leader and greatly trusted amongst many.
But things wouldn't last that way for long. Felicity, also being greatly respected in the heard, was as flitting as the seasons. One day, StormCry woke up to find a shrill silence. His love vanished and with her, all the heard members including their beloved son.
StormCry was furious and crushed. Months and months passed by, no sign of life, no sound of hoof beats. The rage building in his mind, body, and soul sent his power out in dangerous bursts. It wasn't long untill all plant life died. Even his once magnificent willow tree began to rot. The meadow was plunged into a seemingly never ending storm.
Little did he know, not all had abandoned him. An old friend snatched his son and together they hid in the reminants of the forest, watching and waiting. Hoping beyond hope that those who had left would be drawn back.
After many more months, a few did return. Takotah, worried for their safety, abandoned the forest and came face to face with his shocked father. StormCry couldn't believe it but after a few days of long rest, the sun began to shine once more.
Now, little by little, some old and some new, the equines flock back to the meadow known as Hooves of Grace.
