Welcome to the future petpage of Devon__Draik!
Kass (kasno100) did not force or require me in any way to make this petpage application. From this point on, Devon will be referred to as a female.

Landscape/building pictures were found on places-in-games on tumblr.

You had never seen such a grey place before. Sure, there were colors and lights, but a thin layer of dust had settled over everything in the city, making it mute. It was an uglier version of snow. You had heard tales that Atterito used to be beautiful but ever since the War had started the ruin had overpowered the beauty.

You were in the sacred area of the city, the place that somehow sustained no injuries during the frequent attacks. The grand cathedral in front of you remained pristine. To your back stood half-buildings that had long since fallen. Atterito was still functional and it certainly tried to keep its appearances up, but as every day went by the nation decayed more and more.

You were regretting your decision to visit Atterito by this point. However, the airship you were scheduled to board in two days had become a causality of war and it would be a few more days before a replacement airship would get to the city. You weren't used to the dust and muggy air so when you got the news you asked one of the few citizens you had seen where the best place to stay would be. They were a little curious as to why a tourist would visit Atterito now, but they pointed to the heart of the city and said that it would be the most protected spot.

So here you were, facing the huge cathedral. You had passed an inn on your way, but you decided not to enter it. You wanted more than just a place to stay - you wanted sanctuary. Sanctuary from the slate city that was ravaged by sadness and war.

With a deep breath, you placed your hands on the oak doors and pushed.

•••

There was a woman at the front of the cathedral, standing there, looking up at the huge stained glass panels. Sun shone through them, casting the first bit of color you felt like you really saw through the entire day. The interior of the church was incredibly different from the city. Inside it was dark yet also bright; dark mahogany and oak floors and pews contrasted with the sunlight that cut through the colored glass and illuminated the dust floating in the air.

After taking in your surroundings, you focused on the only other person in the cathedral. You took two steps forward, each of them echoing off the walls. She began to turn her head, but stopped and returned to staring at the glass. You turned your eyes upward as well, looking at the scene.

It was the birth of the goddess, Devon.

Your gaze did not stay long on the panel, however. A heap of tools and white canvas cloth laid in the corner close to the panel. You could barely make out what it was but it looked like plans for a new stained glass panel. You frowned. How could they plan on replacing these? Those panels were a part of history, each of them telling a part of the story of the religion of Atterito. Surely one could not just erase religion and change it with something new.

Hello. The words seemed to float down towards you and brought you out of your thoughts. You realized the greeting came from the woman. She had turned around and was now facing you.

Hello, you returned, giving a slight bow, offering your hand as was the custom in Atterito. She began to walk closer to you. Like many in Atterito she was not completely human. Her draconic tail brushed against the floor, and you could see - at least at one point - she had a pair of beautiful horns. One of them seemed to have been snapped in half. Broken.

Perhaps that was the best way to describe the person in front of you. Broken. Her white hair had been haphazardly chopped off and left unstyled. It hung like a veil over one of her eyes. She was dressed in typical Atterito clothing, except perhaps the bronze contraption she sported on her shoulder. The woman probably had at least a foot and half on you. Her skin was translucent and almost seemed to shimmer in the light. She was beautiful. Unearthly, really.

What are you doing here? she asked. You stutter out a noise and begin to explain. She listened calmly until you mentioned how ugly Atterito had become.

The pensive look on her face turned into a frown and her eyes burned with something you couldn't quite tell. Anyhow... you continue, after the moment of silence between the two of you was not filled by her, I'm artihilist. Are you here to pray?

Pray to whom?

Pray to Devon. Are you not from Atterito or something? You knew how centered the nation was on its religion. In fact, the whole world relied heavily on the spiritual. It seemed very odd that she would even ask such a question.

She tilted her head back and laughed somewhat pitifully. No, I'm not from here. And there's no use praying to Devon. Not now. I'm powerless.

I'm powerless?

She stared at you for a while. You looked at her, then looked back at the stained glass. Something was certainly familiar about her.

Draik Form

Devon's draik form is just as beautiful as her Goddess form. Her black-scaled body is sinewy and lithe. She is just as tall as a human, so compared to her goddess form she runs a little small. Devon's trademark design is her long, white hair that always covers the right side of her face. The only other marking that she has is the glowing stripe under her eyes.

Human Form

Devon as a human is very tall, slender, and sinewy. As a goddess she had the power to float, however now as a mortal she has very few magical powers left. She retained the ability to change back and forth in between her dragon form and her human form but she usually remains human while in Atterito. While in Divinius she was usually in her dragon form, so changing to it only reminds her exactly how much she fell.

This is the summary of Devon's story. I wanted to show that she does have a complete story, just not completely written. For more backstory/information on the world she lives in, visit this page!

Part 1
Devon has two Births in her story. Her first birth is when she starts out as just a regular goddess. Her mother was the Goddess of Light, so when her mother dies Devon is born again as the Queen of Divinius. She becomes the main deity worshiped in Orderia (the mortal plane).

Part 2
Devon is a natural at being the Queen. However, there is trouble in Divinius because the God of Health - Edaon (filler name) - was trying to stage a coup. The way the gods operate is by the principle that the more the citizens pray to a certain god, the more powerful they are. This is why Devon and her mother before that, another sun goddess, were worshipped as the main dieties. The people of Orderia worried that if they didn't pray to her than the sun would explode and life as they knew it would end forever (which is not that far off from what would really happen). At some point the two neighboring countries, Atterito and Agnitiona, went to war with each other. With the body count growing higher, more and more prayers went to the God of Health. The citizens felt that the sun could be put to the wayside when they had family members come home from the battlefield missing an eye or an arm. So, Edaon found himself growing more and more powerful as the war raged on. The rules of the kingdom strictly state that Gods should not visit the mortal plane. Edaon didn't listen and goes down, making appearances and promises in Atterito and the neighboring nation, Agnitiona.

Part 3
Usually the gods don't approve of visiting mortals but Devon felt she had to visit both countries and increase faith (since she was losing power) and stop their warring. She goes to Atterito, but this was her first Appearance and she was a relatively young queen. She screws it up by leaving a strand of hair behind. The High Priest finds the hair and immediately tells the King of Atterito (who he is in cahoots with) that he has found a way to get that extra edge of power over the other nation. The King sets his engineers to work. The Priest creates a spell and summons Devon.

Part 4
After visiting the mortal plane for the first time, Devon is vulnerable to human magic. So, the summon works and she is pulled into the cathedral. Trapped in the circle, the priest makes her appear human and then cuts her hair and tail plume. After such manipulation by a mortal a goddess cannot readily return to her home. Devon is trapped in Atterito. The engineers had completed a machine that saps power from her. Weak, she tries to return but the other god had already taken over since her summons. She has been overthrown.

Ironically, in Atterito's attempt to destroy the other nation they actually made their destruction inevitable. As Devon is the sun goddess, the sun becomes weaker and weaker when she is removed from power. Astrologists say a super Nova could be imminent. Both countries fall more and more into war and chaos.

I plan on extending her story and seeing what happens through long-term roleplays and writing! Devon's future is unknown so far, however, I find that the Orderia plotline continually expands and takes on new characters or changes or what have you. I consider this plot to be my brain child and it's almost always at the back of my mind.

To understand the emotional side of Devon in the present it's important to know what she used to be like.

Pre-Summon
Devon was a powerful and good god in every sense. She took well after her mother, the previous Light Goddess, who tried to use fairness and sensibility everywhere. Devon was calm and collected. She would speak directly and without hesitation - this trait remained after her Summons. Her power was light and this reflected in her personality. She was cheerful and sweet as well as playful when time permitted. However, Devon always made sure the business of the Kingdom of Gods came first and tried to keep everything in order - a high job for such a young Goddess. She was always determined none-the-less and few things brought her down before the Summons.

Post-Summon
Devon's sad transition from all-powerful Goddess to nothing more than a powersource for a pointless war weighed heavily on her emotional self. However, Devon's underlying personality hasn't actually changed. Nobody, not even the ruling Goddess, would be able to immediately bounce back from such a harsh blow. Devon's powers have been completely stripped from her. She is understandably having a lot of trouble adjusting to this new life and part of her wants to refuse to believe it. When alone (as she often is) she does not act like her pre-Summon self at all. Only when is she with other good people does her old self shine through again. She feels most confident when she is not alone. All of her connections to the Kingdom of Gods have been severed so her mood will significantly improve when understanding and pure people are around her.

Rx's thoughts: I think Deity or Queen/Princess characters are always dangerous to create because it's easy to portray them as either incredibly strong and invincible or helpless and pitiful. My goal was to create a realistic character for Devon. The way I picture her may seem a little conflicted: how is she still 'light' and happy if she feels so weak? The answer is simple - she's just like a regular person. She's not always happy but she's not always helpless. She will still laugh and smile and remains a 'positive' character in my eyes, but her determination and strength has been damaged. I hope through long-term roleplays I will be able to develop her personality more and watch her heal over time.

Divinius. The place where Devon originated from, and the place she longs for.
Divinius is the 'heaven' to Orderia, also known as the Kingdom of Gods, or some thing along those lines. The Gods and Goddesses of Divinius are typically dragon in nature - certainly the most powerful ones are.
There are three levels of gods: the King or Queen god which there can only be one of at the time; the Power Gods who are secondary and are prayed to the second most; and the Denizen Gods who are tertiary and get enough power to do their work from the annual Festival of the Gods down on Orderia.

For the most part, Gods are okay with this caste system. Divinius has little politics inside of it. Coups are rarely thrown as for thousands of years it has always been that the Sun Gods rule Divinius.

With the addition of Prince Muller to my neofamily, I had a chance to develop the world where Devon/Muller/more-to-come live. As this wasn't made for Devon's app and will belong in the 'library at the Royal City of Dynestre' (which would be where Muller's petpage is set) I'm hosting all drabbles of the overworld on Muller's petpage.

This is just the basic idea of Baxter - not how I will actually write his section should I be chosen to adopt Devon.

Stray Gallions are very common in Atterito. They are very loyal like dogs but have street-smarts like feral cats do. Baxter is based off of a Spanish Water Dog and is very goofy. Devon met Baxter when wandering about Atterito and they immediately bonded. Baxter isn't some magical petpet that knows how to speak. He's really just the loyal companion that provides Devon with unconditional love.
