Splatter

The room is bright and cozy. Drawings and paintings paper the walls, affixed in any manner possible: some are taped, some stuck with tacks. You're pretty sure there's a drawing of a doglefox in the corner held up by a wad of bubble gum. The only break in this colorful chaos is a large glass door leading out onto a balcony. Afternoon sunlight streams through to illuminate the easel that dominates the center of the floor. The girl standing before the easel holds a paintbrush that slowly drips a puddle of orange onto the floor while she gives her latest masterpiece a considering look.

Hello? you say tentatively.

The girl jumps, looking at you wide-eyed for a moment. She hadn't realized you were there. Her hair is a silvery-white and curls wildly at the nape of her neck. The tiny, prism-like scales that cover her body shimmer rainbow-colored in the sunlight. Suddenly, she breaks into a grin and runs over to you, her paintbrush still creating a spattered trail of orange dots in her wake.

She skids to a halt in front of you, then starts digging around in the pocket on the front of her smock. She pulls out a chocolate bar, a yo-yo, an origami helicopter, and finally, a small notebook and pencil. She hurriedly scribbles something down on the notebook, then holds it up for you to read.

Hello. My name is Splatter. It's nice to meet you. Do you want to see my painting?

You smile at her and nod, and she grabs your hand (leaving behind smudges of green and yellow paint from her fingers) and leads you around the room, excitedly showing you all the brightly-colored artwork.
