Through out my life my way was a way of pain. My hope, future and life gone and away. From a young age when my home was destroyed, my parents killed infrount of my own eyes and my sister taken away from me. I was brought up to fight and work. Memorys fading and feelings seem as nothing but a weakness. My happeness as a kit was long gone though I myself was still quite young.

Story

I was born in a dark and thick forest. With my parents and later a younger sister. We lived in ancient ruins humans and neopets had once built a long time ago but now they where just large stone structures with no real use. My sister was quite a pain and was in my mind a show off. She was polite, kind, caring and seemed to be my parents favorite. They told me that it wasn't true and that someday I would come to see that. Back then I didn't belive them.

Years later when I was ten and my sister 7 we where sleeping soundly in the ruins our parents outside still. Thats when I woke up hearing a noise I had never heared before. It was a large boom that echoed through my ears. I looked at my sister seeing she hadn't moved. I shook her awake confused on how she hadn't heared such an ear splitting sound.

I went over to the enterance at our sleeping area of the ruins seeing my parents confronted with many creatures. "Where are the others?!" One yelled. My father tryed to answer but he was cut off "You two can't be the only ones in these large ruins! You better make everyone come out now!" The creature yelled again. One of them then looked up seeing me and my sister who was now beside me whimpering scared at out parents down below. My father turned back in shock able to also see us "Spartoz! Catozii! Both of you run away NOW!" He yelled to us. One of the creatures, this one a xweetok, then charged at my father while his eyes where on us punching him full force in the stomach. He yelled in pain coughing up blood. He fell to the ground his body not moving. My mother went down on her knees beside my father trying to wake him, but he didn't move. The creature who punched him smirked, his paw from what I could see was...glowing! It was a silver blue color and as I looked at my fathers stomach where he was ingered the glow, like fire was there two. My mother looked up at us "RUN!" She screamed as loud as she could. The creature glared at her quickly punching her in the head with the same glowing paw the glow transphering ofer to my mothers head as she fell to the ground dead. I quickly grabed my sisters paw and ran back into the ruins knowing where we could go.

As we ran through the ruins I could hear quickening footsteps behind us, and catching up with us. I quickly puched my sister further down the path, she looked back at me confused but I told her to run and I would stall them. After a quick glare at her she quickly ran off. I turned to face the path I heared them coming at. They soon saw me and stopped one of them, the same one who killed my parents, smirked at me "Well well, desided to give up I see?" He said. I growled angerly at his then yelling "Why did you kill my parents? And what was with that glow around your paws when you attacked them?" I asked angerly. He looked at me and I could see a little shock in his face as a smirk appered "So you can see it? I'm impressed not many have the eyes to see the deadlyness of out power." I took a step back from them nervously "W...What do you meen?" I asked confused, thinking everyone could see it. "What I meen," The xweetok continued "Is you have a rare set of eyes, hidden powers in you...and you must die." I backed up more scared baddly "W...What?!" I muttered not beliving what he said. I then heared a scream behind me, my sister, I turned seeing her being hung onto by another one of the creatures, this one a draik. She screamed again thrying to make the draik let go of her then seeing me tears filling her eyes "Brother!" She screamed terrofyed. "Catozii!" I yelled running towards her to try and save her, then I felt a serge through my back as pain shot through my whole body. I screamed and fell to the ground the pain just growing and growing, the last image I saw was my sisters terrofyed face and her screaming my name as everything went black.

I woke up still in pain, I groaned sitting up slowly. Looking around I could tell I wasn't in the ruins anymore. I called out hoping to hear Catozii but heared no responce. Thats when I looked at my paws in shock seeing them as a different color. I quickly looked at my whole body. My colors had completly changed from their brown and dark gold desert colors to a dule grayish blue. My markings where still there but the color change had come to them too. I sat there in shock and confusion a single thing racing in my mind "A...Am I...dead..." I muttered quietly outloud, looking to my arm hearing something and seeing my right arm wrapped in chains. Thats when I heared a voice respond "No not really, you should have but because of your ability my attack to use was used as a trigger to awaken the hidden powers." It said as the xweetok from before came out of the shadows. I quickly stood to my feet "What are you talking about?!" I yelled "And where is my sister!!" The xweetok just smirked "That girl didn't have the powers you have, so we sold her to someone, sents she was cute she gave us quite a profit!" He said smirking. I looked at him in denial for a moment then my rage boiled out as I charged at him "You sold my SISTER?! I yelled as a faint blue glow appered around my paw as I punched at him. He easly caught my punch before it hit, the same glow, but stronger, sorrounding his paw. He quickly punched me in the stomach with his other paw as I fell to my knees trying to get a gasp of air. "Yes we did." He said simply then continuing "You should just forget her, this is your new home and your training begins tommorrow so get some rest." He said before turning and walking away, he stopped though adding "Oh and those chains. If you take them off you die" He said "You belong to us now" he then left and I lost sight of him.

That whole night I just layed on the cold ground, though I continued to get more and more tired I was unable to sleep and after what seemed to me like days that same Xweetok reappered in front of me and a cold smirk covering his face as he looked down at me. I looked up at him but didn't move, by that time I was starving and wishing for something to parch my thirst. "Get up" The Xweetok said as I weakly stood "Time for your training to start" He said before walking out of the room. I stood there as he turned back at me angerly "Get moving!" He barked. "Please...I need something to drink...and eat..." I asked him but he just laughed a little throwing a bottle of water at me as a quickly drank down all of the contents. I stood there for a minute, but I was still just as thirsty, as if the cool liquid had never touched my lips. I looked up at the Xweetok confused as he turned bringing up a paw signaling me to follow "You don't need that stuff anymore as you can tell..."

For nearly ten years I lived in that horrible place. I soon learned that no amount of food or water would help me or rid me of the feelings of hunger and thirst, only training would weaken those feelings of weakness. Also no amount of sleep came to me, only going unconsious from over exerting myself, when waking though I felt no better then before. I was forced to rid myself of all feelings and emotion, love, kindness, hope, all of those things where said to be nothing but weakness towards us. I was forced to follow what ever orders I was given and grew with a fear of only two things, Disobeying my master, and death, the first feal leading to the next. If I or anyone else disobeyed the master we would be brought to death and forever traped in pure unescapable darkness. Soon enough my training had progressed so far that I was able to see anyones soul, and soon enough grab and remove those souls, This gain in power though, just fueled my anger and hatred, towards myself.

I was soon after gaining the ability to move souls, given missions of 'search and collect' in which I found areas with high consentrations of living creatures and power levels. Then with them found I steal their soul, and hand them over to my master. If, any of those creatures where able to see the flames, I was to capture them and bring them back alive, to undergo the training, and become like me. The longer I did this though, the more I hated it. I didn't want to see others in pain, to kill others, to have others go through and feel what I have and still do, but most of all, I didn't want the master to get stronger. I wanted him to die!

During one of the collecting missions I came upon a slave trading area, a place where they sold off all kinds of pets for various reasons. Soon enough I noticed a Xweetok, chained to the side waiting for her time to be bid on, a desert colored Xweetok, with blue eyes resembling jewels, Instently I reconized the Xweetok. My Sister.

I was able to sneak behind the area she was in and still unseen to others I broke the chains around her using weak but effective fireballs and pulled her back to where I was riding. I could tell by her face she was scared for a minute, I didn't expect her to reconize me, I had changed do much over time. But after a minute of silence something happened I hadn't expected, She smiled then hugged me as tears begain to flow from her eyes and down her cheeks "Brother, Your ok" She whispered to me happly. I was to in shock to say anything to her, amazed she reconized me. Finally I begain to regain my voice about to sat something when a man and his lupe came behind our cover spotting us "Hey! Don't go touching her! She is my main profit!" He yelled. Cat quickly hid behind me trembling in fear. When the lupe ran at me I quickly, by reaction lunged at its check when it jumped at me and my paw going into his body and I quickly grabed and pulled out its soul, the lupe howling in pain before its body limply fell to the ground, souless and dead. I quickly relesed the soul as it vanished, back to my master to feed on. The man watched in shock but quickly brought out a gun but when he shot at me I created a barrior blocking the bullet and before the man could react, shocked by me blocking the bullet, I was behind him and quickly pulled out his soul as well as he to fell to the ground, his soul dissapering when I relesed it. I then looked to Cat who was sitting there in shock, sighing I ran over to her grabbing her paw as I lead her away from the area "We have to get out of here" Where the only words I said to her.

Once I had Cat a safe distance away I finally stopped as I looked back at her. Her eyes where wide as she looked at me in shock. I sighed, first time she sees me in years and she had to see me kill two creatures? ...Great... "I'm sorry you had to see that" I told her "But I didn't want them to hurt you" She shook her head "H...he was a bad person..." She said, her voice no more then a whisper and I bairly could make out her words. She sat down as did I as we started to talk, I wanted to know how she was and she wanted to know what I had done to those two. We ended up spending the night there together.

She told me how she had been sold into slavery after what happened and was often sold to a new owner often. One time something bad happened, which ended up causeing her a lot of pain, and was why she wears to this day a strange necklace around her. All she told me was that she could never remove it, for her own protection. Desiding not to dig to deep I then told her about what had happened to me, about my training and powers, though I didn't tell her about my master, or about what I did to those two just saying I knocked them unconsious so we could get away, and that the souls where just a little power left over I had after the attack. I didn't want her to know everything, for fear she would be scared of me.

The next day we traveled to a small town so Cat could get something to eat and drink. I had told her about me not needing food and water so she understood why I hadn't thought about that until I suggested that. We stayed together for a few more days wandering from town to town as we caught up from where we left off. I should have guessed that it wouldn't last though.

While we where traveling down a road towards the next town there was an explosion near Cat as she fell bac on me. A few more explosions soon followed all around us as I used my powers to make a barrior to keep Cat safe already guessing what was going on. Infront uf us where a Lupe and Bori, both with colors and chains like me, they where like me, two I had trained with and both at my level of power. This was bad, I kept infront of Cat to clung to me scared, if I didn't keep by her, she would be killed by these two. "Well, Well, Well" The bori said as she took a step forward "A little run away with a good looking soul. Hurry up and stop wasting time and lets get going" She said stopping and waiting for me to take out Cat's soul. She looked at me worryed "Whats going on, do you know them?" I quickly shook my head a little at Cat before looking back at the Bori "Please, Leave her alone" I asked.

But the bori just laughed "And why would we do that? Hurry up! Why are you refusing orders?!" she said ebfore charging right at me "Your affection for this Xweetok is clouding your mind!" She yelled before she formed a sword with her energy and I did to as we went head to head. "You know I'm right! You know that no one will accept you, me or any of us! We are seen as a threat and feared by those not like us. If you get close to anyone they will just hurt you, hate you, fear you! You can never be happy and you can never make anyone else happy" She said as I glared at her "Thats a lie! I..." "No its not! Our powers are invisable to almost everyone! They will see us as freaks! Threats and all things horrible! They will chain us up and knock us down! Force us to do what ever we are told or kill us!" "Thats what we live in right now! Our master sees us as nothing but tools! I'm tired of it! I want to deside what I want to do! Not be ordered to kill others!" I argued back angerly "I won't let you harm my sister, or anyone else!" The bori smirked as I suddenly heared a scream, Cat!

I pushed the bori around and turned towards Cat to see the lupe over top of her, her belly to the ground as she was pinned under the weight of the lupe, and the lupes hand in her back, completly in her back out of view. He pulled his arm out a little as Cat screamed again, the lupe seeming to have a hard time getting her soul out. I quickly charged at the lupe but the bori came up behind me using her still out sword to make a large gash through my back, since it was the same energy as the basic of our powers the pain went directly at my soul as I yelled in pain falling to my knees. I looked at Cat again worryed not sure how long she could resise the grip on her soul, it was shocking enough that she could speak, and fight agenst the pull. I turned my eyes a little "I'm sorry..." I muttered before quickly turning around and thrusting my hand into the boris chest and quickly pulling out her soul. As I did the energy sword faded and her body fell to the ground, and her soul vanished. The lupe looked in shock "Trator!" He screamed at me as I turned to face him and before he could blink his body fell to the ground, his grip on Cat's soul gone as I held his and it quickly faded.

I sighed pulling the lupes body away from Cat who was shaking unconrtolably and crying out in pain, I got dow beside her and thats was when I noticed that her soul had been half way taken out, something more painful then it being removed. It had caused her to lose control of her body as pain shock through everything from limb to limb and corsing through her head. "B...brother..." She whimpered as I sat there trying to figure out what to do, if I tryed to put it back in place, the stress could kill her and if I left it the pain would never leave. "P...please...make it stop..." Cat whispered to me, "But...you could..." "PLEASE!" She pleaded. I looked back at her soul before slowly and carefully put my hand into her back and grabed her soul lightly trying to put it back in place. It took everything I had in energy to keep my hand inside of her for so long but I was soon done as she begain to relax but had fallen unconsious. Taking a minute I looked at the two body's near by and sighed, this action would label me as a trator...and hunted down and killed. Not something you wanted to happen.

I weakly put Cat onto my back and walked away from that area, not wanting her to wake and see the bodys of the two and ask more questions. It didn't take long to get to the next town where I found a place for her to sleep and me to try and rest, but now she was in more danger and we needed to find a place to hide. I knew with the stess Cat's soul had gone through she would need to rest for a few days, during that time I begain asking around for any information I could get and ended up learing of a forest where many Xweetoks lived and the magic of that forest made it so no one but Xweetoks could enter. As I searched and asked more I ended up getting an idea where it would be, and that could be the best place for us to hide.

When Cat had woken and gotten strong enough we left the area in search of the forest continually asking more to figure out where it was though it was hard to find anyone who knew about its hidden location. Luckly, with our continuous movment we whern't found by any others and after enough searching had found it, the Xweetok Forest, and our new home. My greatest hope is that Cat will be safe and I won't be found again, and I wish that this ledgendary forest's power will be enough.

What I Am

Because of Spartoz's ability to see that powerful energy as a child he was marked for life. The creatures who trained him had found others who could see the power and are continually searching for more. They end up inserting a little of their power to completely awaken the others power, but because of that the other is forever a slave.

Their main purpose is to collect souls of the living and dead and give them to their leader in which he then absorbs to gain more power. After an amount of training they can literally grab onto anyone's soul and pull it out though it can take a lot of energy but for the most part once they grab onto your soul and get a good grip of it the creature is paralyzed and put into a large amount of pain. They are also used to search out more who have the ability to see the invisable fire, the base of their powers. If they do, they are ordered to capture those creatures and bring them back to the master.

Any creature who has a large knowledge about ghosts and creatures like them will most likely know about these special creatures. For the most part all of them are lead by a single or two at most masters who after time have been named the the 'Master of Souls' or many know them as Masouls and any of the ones they are in control of are Exsoul's.

And of the Exsouls who end up dieing are not free from their masters but in turn their souls are absorbed into the Masouls and forever trapped in darkness and their powers used to make the master grow stronger.

No one knows who the Masoul is and there for has never been stopped. There are rumors that he has already absorbed enough souls to become invincable but, no one knows if its true or not.

Others

Cat-My little sister, and the only family I have left. She was once a kind and carefree girl who neved seemed to stop smiling and never let her past get to her. Recently though she was killed, how I do not know but thanks to Savenro, she was reborn as a kit. Because of this she has forgotten about her past but that is a good thing, since she was so sad when she died and now she has her smile back. She was an amazing healer and once she grows a little I belive she will start gaining those powers back.

Anna-She was one of the first Xweetok's I ever became close to besides my sister. She is quite caring of her friends and I have been through a lot with her along with another friend of mine. In the begining I never noticed...or accepted the feelings I gained for her, by the time I really accepted them it was to late...But I am still her friend and always will be.

Puarrel-A strange...lupe like Xweetok who I met around the same time as Anna. He is, in my book, rather strange since he acts more like a lupe or gelert then a actual Xweetok. He is actually now Anna's mate, though this...does annoy me greatly sometimes...I'm glad Anna found someone to make her happy.

Savenro-A shinigami, or...I guess you could say, one of the few who know what an Exsoul is. Our...'friendship' is more like a temporary and VERY unstable alliance if you can even call it that. He is VERy distrusting of me because I am an Exsoul and the only reason he hasn't killed me...is because I need to take care of my sister. Once she is old enough he has already said he will kill me. Even if I have saved his LIFE once before!

Cyto-Another Exsoul I know, though he is just a young kit. At the age of five he is rather scared of those around him. He was actually send on a 'mission' to try and take me from the forest, saying they would take him to his mother if he succeded, pretty much it was just a suiside mission set up for him. Luckly Savenro spared his life. He is rather shyand not all to trusting, and insists on calling me 'Master' Spartoz...even though I am no longer a rank.

Powers

Spartoz's powers are quite different in the ways they effect him and what they are caused by. He is, in a way half dead. What was done to him was something irreversible because what it does is destroys part of his body and in turn powers his soul to greater lengths. But because of the fact of his body's weakness the chains he wears are a way off containing his soul still to the body. If they where ever taken off his body wouldn't be able to support a soul any longer and so he would die.

His powers them self are invisible fire that very few can see so in turn make him very dangerous. Mattering on how he uses them he can make explosions, burn things to crisp and other things. He has gone through a large amount of training and there for can easily grab onto someone's soul if he has enough power and could even absorb it himself if he wanted.

He, like many others is of course a Exsoul but a quite powerful one but has always had hate towards him 'Master' for what he did to his family. He ended up somehow escaping from the Masters grip but is now always on the run from him. He found the Xweetok forest soon after he was able to locate and save his sister and is currently hiding there in hopes the forests power will make it so he isn't found.

All Exsouls have some advantages towards normal pets in that they don't need to eat, sleep or drink anything to stay alive. But they still feel hungery, thirsty and tired but after time they train to overcome the weakness that state makes them feel. They can still be forced unconsious if enough energy is used straining their bodys and souls to far. But they normally don't stay in that state for to long and the rest won't bring back much energy at all. Another part of their powers is that because of their half dead state their bodys are able to resist a lot more damage then a normal body only taking about half the damage a normal one would. But internal damage to their spirit or soul is quite vunarable taking twice the damage a normal one would.

Looks

Exsouls tend to be quite easy to reconize for those who know about them because of the common grey and greyish blue colors they all share. There are a few cases when the blue color is more of a green or red it mainly matters on what they looked like before their powers where awakened. The markings they had before being made into an Exsoul stay the same with just the color change. Commonly newer Exsouls have lighter colors then older Exsouls, though some will keep lighter, sometimes more ghost like colors.

Also, All Exsouls wear atleast one set of chains visable somewhere on their body, though two or three are more common for an extra set meens if one is broken the other set will take over and keep the soul and body attached until the broken chain can be replaced.

Their invisable fire is normally the grey blue shade like their markings but can also be the green or red mattering on the Exsoul. When enough energy is being used though and normal pet who has the ability to see spirits and spirit energy might be able to see a weak glow around the Exsoul, something like the fire but more resembled to the normal 'glow' around ghost's. Though this glow is only visable, even to Exsouls, when they are nearing to their limit of power and going all out.

The Second Chain

Most Exsouls will only have a single set of chains somewhere on their body. Like Cyto with the chains around his tail. But with some like Spartoz, there is a meening towards the second chain. The chains that keep Spartoz's soul attached to his body are the ones around his arm. These, if removed, will cause him to die. But the other chain, the one around his neck, seves a different purpose.

You see, when a Exsoul reaches a certian level of power, that power can end up destroying their body's when used constently. A body of an Exsoul is already in a half dead state, thats why an Exsoul does not feel as much pain as a normal body does, and also why they need the chains to keep their body and soul connected. An Exsoul's power is consentrated on their soul, not their body, so even as powers of an Exsoul grow their body can't change and adapt much at all. With a constent stream of a large amount of power, the body would end up being destroyed from the inside out. So, soon enough a second chain was developed, so that any Exsoul that reached that level in power would not destroy themselfs and would keep their usefulness and gain even more power through training. These other chain's are basicly limiters to an Exsoul's power.

When worn an high level Exsoul loses a lot of their powers, but gains the ability to keep their body intact. These chain's can be removed and when they are the Exsoul regain's their natural and full powers. In this full powered state the body can last up to two days with out being destroyed, but the longer they are in that state the weaker the body becomes, mattering on the body, one day might be enough to make it completly useless and in turn kill the Exsoul.

Normally there are only 10-12 'double chained' Exsouls at one time. This is because to reach the level where a second chain is needed can only be reached when the Masoul gives out a little of its power. This only happens then one of the already double chained Exsouls is killed, or a Exsoul shows enough power to handle the extra energy. Ninty precent of the time this energy is transphered, the soul can not withstand the extra energy and implodes on itself. Most of the time an Exsoul can't choose whether or not to gain this energy transpher and if they are seen as unfit to be an Exsoul, the transpher might just be made to kill them.

The few that make it through this test are called 'Ranks' and mattering on their ability's and their body's endurance on their full energy, they gain a better rank. When a rank is killed the lower ones will move up a rank if they prove their worth. Though it is common they will stay at their current rank. The top five ranks also have a special link to the Masoul. When needed a top rank may call on this link to gain a boost of power, though with this boost, the time their body can withstand, is cut down to less then half the time. Quite often they go mad from the power and destroy themselfs.

When an Exsouls power is limited there is more then just their powers weakened. Their resistance and endurance are also cut down. Because of this it can be easy for them to drain away their powers in a long fight. When their powers are restricted, they can become weaker then some Exsoul's with only one chain. This is also a way to hide the ranking system from outsiders and make the double chains seem like nothing to care about.

Questions And Answers

About Exsouls...
Specifically how does a normal pet with Exsoul eyes becomes an Exsoul?
Well...pretty much the Exsoul eyes are almost like a first stage. With them alone you can learn a few basics like making weak fire balls...kind of like Bao. But normally thats as far as it can go. The energy that an Exsoul uses is connected to their soul. And what you where born with is as far as you can get.
Thats why a little bit of the Masoul's energy is needed to create a full Exsoul like Cyto. That power is inserted into the body and pretty much adds forgein energy to the soul. As soon as that is done the energy kind of overflows which causes the color change. But when that happens the soul becomes more powerful then the body can handle on its own. So normally that serge of power would last for a max of 24 hours.
The chains are used to strengthein the body enough to contain the soul. But when the chains are used the body pretty much just becomes a container. Thats why a Exsoul can't die of starvation or dehydration cause the body no longer needs those things. But at the same time no abount of food or water will help.

How does the Masoul add his energy?
Thats actually thanks to the ranks ^^' With their stronger link to the Masoul they can call on some of it and insert it into anyone who has the eyes.

I see but the 'seeing' part is just a natural ability of the soul...
